Taking a break from the Broadway stage, Katie Holmes was on hand at the 12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert in New York City this evening (December 12).
The 33-year-old actress graced Madison Square Garden with her charming beauty, and donned a shimmering purple dress.
Other stars in attendance included "Gossip Girl" beauty Blake Lively, "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart, and ?Django Unchained? hunk Leonardo DiCaprio.
The night included a star-studded concert from performers including Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and the Rolling Stones. Also, Sir Paul McCartney created a buzz when he took the stage with Nirvana singing lyrics originally performed by the late Kurt Cobain.
All of the proceeds raised will assist the millions of people throughout the tri-state area who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

On her way for another night of work, Katie Holmes headed into the Music Box Theater in New York on Saturday (December 1).
The 33-year-old, dressed in jeans and a grey coat, shielded herself from onlookers as she went inside to prepare for her role in ?Dead Accounts.?
The play celebrated its official opening on the Great White Way on November 29.
?Dead Accounts? is the story of a brother, a sister, and a surprise reunion that turns their family upside down.

Here are pictures of Katie Holmes at last night’s afterparty for the opening of Dead Accounts on Broadway. I decided that showing Katie’s happy, beaming face in the above photograph would prepare you for a full shot of her dress, which is below, and it is atrocious. First though, here’s an update on Suri, who is back in town after allegedly visiting Tiny Tyrant Tom Cruise, who somehow managed to be on the All You Need Is Kill set over the entire weekend. Wherever she went (and I’m still not certain), Suri is back strutting the streets with Katie, who was wearing a really great red coat a few days ago. Suri almost lost her favorite stuffed rabbit, but it was retrieved just in time before their cab pulled away. That poor bunny could really use a run through the washing machine, but that’s just the germaphobe in me talking.
Now onto Katie’s appearance last night. I actually do like the fabric of this dress in theory, but the cut is quite matronly, and Katie could have pulled off a more youthful look for her big celebration night. Also, whatever’s going on in the “bib” area is really a deal breaker. So awful. Otherwise, she looks good with her long, flowing, and lovely hair. The makeup (especially the eyeliner) is a bit heavy-handed, but I’m assuming that a lot of it is leftover from her stage makeup for the evening.
Really though, I’m so happy for her Katie Holmes. She broke away from Tom, and she’s finally back to doing what she wanted to do — act onstage. Here’s a photo from the curtain call with Josh Hamilton, Norbert Leo Butz, and Jayne Houdyshell as well. Katie needs to get with this Norbert dude even if it’s only a fling.

Returning to work on her Broadway show after spending the holiday in the Midwest, Katie Holmes was spotted out in the Big Apple on Saturday (November 24).
The "Dawson's Creek" star looked cute and cozy in a knitted sweater, gray scarf, and blue jeans as she headed inside to work on the play "Dead Accounts."
Though critics have already had a sneak peek of the play, opening night for the public takes place on Thursday (November 29).
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old's daughter, Suri, is reportedly in London to spend the holiday with her father, Tom Cruise, while he films his new movie "All You Need is Kill."

Stopping at "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," Katie Holmes joined in on a game of Charades with Jimmy and a couple lucky audience members on Thursday (November 15).
The "Batman Begins" star looked cute in a cream top, black and white sweater, black skinny pants, and tan heels as she fervently acted out clues with the competitive host.
Recently, a report came out that the 33-year-old actress has begun to call her daughter by a different name in public as to not attract so much attention.
According to In Touch, instead of "Suri," she's calling "Sara" in public. A source tells the magazine, "Everyone in the world knows Suri Cruise, so if Katie or a babysitter says, ?Suri,? people immediately look to find her.?

I’m glad to see Katie Holmes has put on a few since her split from Tom Cruise. She looks a lot more robust. Plus, if she ever comes across a role for a former East German hammer thrower, she’ll already have the legs for it. Win-win!
From the header pic, I’d say Suri is either blind or possessed by the devil. For her sake, I hope it’s blindness, if only because that would mean she wouldn’t have to look at her mother’s hideous outfit. The denim jacket is the only part of that look I can endorse, and you can get one just like hers here.

Look at Katie Holmes! Girl is looking so (gasp!) stylish in this amazing black coat and boot combo in these photos taken yesterday in NYC. Even the scarf looks good. Damn, there are moments like this when I can understand why she fancies herself a fashion designer, but then I remember what a budget mess the Holmes & Yang line looked like at NY fashion week. Oh well, she’s still stunning (if a bit tired) here.
Katie’s return to stage acting continues in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. People reports that Katie is doing well with this week’s opening of Dead Accounts on Broadway and gathered a huge amount of applause during her solo bow. The Mail has some photos from the preview, which include a “steamy” smooch with co-star Josh Hamilton, who the Chicago Sun-Times reports is married but has a bit of a crush on Katie anyway. Nice try there, press.
Meanwhile, my interest lies with Katie’s other male co-star, two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz (pictured here), who appeared with Katie for an interview with the New York Times. The article notes that “Mr. Butz acted like a protective older brother” but also claims, “I thought our chemistry was palpable,” when talking about his first meeting with Katie. Apparently, Katie declined this interview until Norbert agreed to come along, so maybe he makes her feel safe. Both Norbert and Katie are Midwestern and Catholic too, so hmm. Also, the NYT mentions Katie’s chronic slouch. LOL. Girl needs to fix that, but I’m sure after standing next to paranoid Tom Cruise for five years, she might find the slouch to be a very hard habit to break. Do some yoga, Katie. You’ll love it. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
The old Katie still exists: “I still think of myself as Midwestern,” said Ms. Holmes, 33, who arrived for a recent interview without any trappings of celebrity: no assistant, no makeup, no jewelry, no designer labels — only a simple black band to tie her wet black hair into a ponytail. “I mean, I?ve had box wine. It’s good. And it?s a lot easier to open.”
Her religion still guides her: “Catholicism, yes. But it?s more about the family bonds. I have these moments where what’s going on in my life is unbelievable, and you have to tell everyone to figure out how to respond. My siblings and I are always on the phone saying: ‘Oh my God, what do you think? What does Mom think? What does Dad think?’ And then you act accordingly.”
How she’s like her Dead Accounts character: “I?m like Lorna in that my values guide me in an instinctual way, like, ‘That feels weird’ or ‘I better send a thank you,’” Ms. Holmes said as she slouched forward. “Also, the Midwestern work ethic: You do what you do, and you don?t talk about it. You don’t say, ‘Oh, I?m a doctor.’ You won’t have many friends if you do that. And when you’re in the entertainment business where you?re applauded for so many things — – You can easily fall into thinking, ‘Wow, I’m really something,’ But I believe in putting your head down and doing the work.”
: ?I have a hard time sleeping because I think about how serious this all is,? she said of expectations for the production. ?I think about the cost of tickets. I think to myself: ?You better do a good job. People are paying a lot of money.? You want to know your stuff.?
[From New York Times]
I love boxed wine! It’s so much cheaper than bottles, and the Bota Box brand that I like holds the same amount as four bottles and lasts nearly a month. Since I’ve never been a wine snob and my goal is mostly to get my buzz on, the stuff tastes good enough for me. I hope Katie stocked up on boxed wine as soon as she left Tom. You know he wasn’t into that crap.
This week’s issue of the Enquirer has a lengthy story all about how Katie is dreading the holidays because Tom will finally make his presence known again in Suri’s life — since he now hasn’t seen his youngest daughter in 15 WEEKS. According to the article, Katie expects Tom to make a huge deal out of Thanksgiving and Christmas with a massive gift extravaganza to “make up” for not seeing Suri for four months. Actually, I believe this will happen but figure that Tom will skip Thanksgiving and just go with Christmas, in which case it will have been (at that point) nearly six months since visiting with Suri. Such priorities.
The Enquirer also includes a creepy yet amusing image of a brand-spanking new Scientology poster, featuring Tom Cruise staring at the Empire State Building from a balcony. They know she loves to take the subway now, right? Well, this is what Katie sees upon entering the station nearest her Chelsea apartment.
Other than dealing with those creepy CO$ tactics, Katie is dealing with getting her life back on track in the aftermath of the unhinged, lift-wearing midget. Doesn’t she look so happy now? Suck it, Tom.

Katie Holmes is just getting back to work on Broadway with Dead Accounts rehearsals, which were cancelled for several days following Hurricane Sandy. She and Suri have been in New York City during the entire ordeal and aftermath (following a pre-hurricane dinner out), and their Chelsea neighborhood was flooded. It’s actually still in bad shape, and a lot of art galleries near Katie’s building are facing massive losses. As for the girls’ home, they weathered the initial hurricane inside their apartment and stayed the night following the immediate power outage. When the water went out the next day, the entire building evacuated, and Katie and Suri relocated to an uptown hotel, where they remain to this date. Hopefully, they’ll get to return home soon, but here are the details from HuffPo:
“Suri and Katie stood it out as long as they could,” one resident of the same building in Chelsea tells me. “The power abruptly went out around 8:30 P.M. Monday evening, leaving everyone sitting around torchlight or candle light. Most folks stayed in the building over night and most of the next day until the water went out, making it impossible to even flush the toilet. At that point everyone, including Katie and Suri, left.”
The Mercantile building the pair calls home is a luxury building in Chelsea within walking distance of Suri’s school, the new private school Avenues. But along with all the other residents, once Katie and Suri made the decision to leave, the only way out was walking down the dark staircase.
“Suri might be used to helicopters and chauffeured cars, but once the storm hit we were all the same,” the building insider tells me. “They had to walk from the 12th floor, with no lights, like everyone else.”
But mother and daughter are not feeling too much discomfort since they left the building they call home. Reports say they have checked into the exclusive Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side, not far from the Carlyle Hotel, where Katie and Suri often stayed with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
[From HuffPo]
Mostly, this is a mere inconvenience for Katie because, unlike many other New Yorkers, she can afford to stay in a nice hotel with Suri until things return to normal in her hood. Meanwhile, Us Weekly reports that Katie’s Dead Accounts co-stars (the actors pictured here) are totally loving her non-diva behavior during rehearsals: “People thought they would have to step on egg shells [around her]. She’s got her personal stuff going on, but she leaves that at the door. [And] behind the scenes she’s a funny, loving girl, not an ounce of diva in her.” Apparently, they’re all totally shocked that she eats lunch with the rest of the cast instead of hightailing it to her dressing room for a privately-catered meal. If she was still married to Tom Cruise, that’s probably exactly what he would have demanded of Katie, who is probably just thrilled that she’s able to communicate with actual human beings again!

Continuing work despite her current living arrangements, Katie Holmes headed off to practice for her Broadway play ?Dead Accounts? in New York City on Saturday (November 3).
The former Mrs. Tom Cruise made her way to the Music Box Theatre for rehearsals with her daughter Suri and a few stuffed animals in tow.
Due to Hurricane Sandy?s ugly aftermath on the east coast, Katie and her 6 year-old mini-me have reportedly been forced to evacuate and relocate from their Chelsea apartment.
According to reports, Miss Holmes is currently staying in a posh Upper East Side hotel until her apartment?s water and power are restored.
Aside from the weather taking a toll on the actress? residential woes, Sandy has also caused the preview date for ?Dead Accounts? to be pushed back a week - as the stage show was originally set to start this weekend.

Katie Holmes attended the Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl’s launch in New York City last night, and she looks fantastic. This little black, ruched dress fits her figure perfectly and highlights her lovely, post-Tom waistline. Katie and Suri are doing well in the big city, and Katie always does the daily school run to Suri’s new school, which is located very close to their Chelsea apartment. Still no sign of Tom after more than ten weeks of absence, but whatever.
As for this look, Katie not only looks good in the dress did very well in the makeup and hair department as well. Those long, loose curls lend her a very youthful appearance, which is also aided by that dewy complexion once again.
Here’s Katie posing with Narciso Rodriguez himself. Now there’s a man who owns his height with no lifts required! Katie should get on that.
Emma Roberts and Julianna Margulies were also at the event, and it looks like they drew the short end of the stick with these color-blocked dresses. To make matters somewhat worse, Julianne got stuck with a black and white “illusion” dress. Oh how I wish Stella McCartney had never started that trend.
