CB and Bedhead were complaining earlier that today is kind of dead, gossip-wise. I disagreed, vehemently, because we have so many new photos from Fashion Week, Toronto, Deauville, plus there are lots of good candids so far. So just now, I was mentally debating what story I should do: a Linnocent crackhead story, a story about Ralph Fiennes and Gerard Butler being homoerotic, or this one, about Katie Holmes and Suri. It feels like we haven?t talked about Katie lately, and we?ve got some photos of Suri too.
Katie and Suri were in New York this weekend, perhaps for Fashion Week. I?m not sure, because I haven?t seen photos of Katie at any of the shows, but she could just be waiting to go to some big shows later this week. Oh, is Katie showing a line for Holmes & Yang? That could be it too.
Anyway, let?s ignore Katie for a moment and just talk about Suri. First, something nice: I?m glad Suri isn?t wearing kitten heels, or pumps. I?m glad that Suri looks relatively weather/season-appropriate, clothing-wise. Now, the bad: Suri is wearing dark red lipstick. And a bowler hat! But the lipstick is what bugs. Suri has worn makeup before, just like she?s worn heels before. Katie just lets Suri do her own thing, so if Suri wants to wear dark red lipstick, mom will always give the nod of approval. I?m always fascinated by this debate: is this even something Katie could stop, if she wanted to? Or is Katie just letting Suri find her own way, figuring that all of this stuff is just part of some childhood phase? Does a five-year-old in red lipstick, out and about in New York City, bother you as much as it bothers me?
Babble is also making a big deal about the fact that Katie had just enrolled Suri into a kindergarten class in Calabasas (the New Village Leadership Academy, that Scientology-ish school that Will and Jada Smith started, and then denied that it was CoS-based), and now it looks like Suri is missing school so that she and mom can go to NY Fashion Week.
Now, let?s talk about Katie?s fashion. I could overlook the rolled cutoffs. I might even be able to overlook the fug ankle booties (with cutoffs?!). But the shirt. What in 1989 Benetton Hell is that shirt?!?! Ugh, Katie.

Gearing up for the busy day ahead, Katie Holmes was spotted leaving her Manhattan apartment this morning (September 9).
The ?Kennedys? actress donned a denim jacket teamed with a pair of grey leggings and sunglasses as she strolled through the door.
Last night, Katie was over at the NYU Skirball Center of the Performing Arts to perform a reading of 110 Stories as part of a 9/11 benefit.
Proceeds from the event, which also featured Cynthia Nixon, Jeremy Piven, and Mario Cantone, went to the New York Says Thank You Foundation

She has always had a love for New York City, and last night (September 8) Katie Holmes took part in a 9/11 remembrance event.
The ?Teaching Mrs. Tingle? actress showed up at the NYU Skirball Center of the Performing Arts to perform a reading of 110 Stories a few days before the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
Joining Katie in the reading were stars like Cynthia Nixon, Jeremy Piven, Mario Cantone, and Vincent Piazza.
Proceeds from the special star-studded event were donated to the New York Says Thank You Foundation.

Enjoying the beautiful weather, Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri Cruise headed off to Chelsea Piers in New York City today (September 8).
The ?Mad Money? babe and her adorable daughter both donned colorful ensembles as they strolled past some paparazzi to have some active quality time together.
In career news, Katie recently discussed the possibility of a sequel to her recent film ?Don?t Be Afraid of the Dark.?
Holmes explained, ?We never did discuss that, but now I?m wondering. I want to know what [director]Guillermo [del Toro]?s thinking ? he?s got so many amazing ideas, so I don?t know.?

The ?Dawson?s Creek? starlet donned a brown fedora along with a denim jacket and grey trousers as she slinked past the shutterbugs while radying to check out the latest trends during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
And despite reports that Katie blames her physique for her lack of acting gigs, it turns out Ms. Holmes is happy with her body.
Life & Style erroneously reported that Katie is convinced she?s losing Hollywood roles because she?s too big, even though ?her fight against fat has reached shocking extremes.?
But Holmes? rep completely blasted the story, telling press, ?It?s clearly ridiculous.?

Here’s Katie Holmes at the VMAs with her pose-hard face that is in no way justified by the very budget-looking dress she’s trying to work. This plain lace Azzedine Alaia dress looks like something from the sale rack at Forever 21. She could have saved it with some hot fashion-forward shoes, but instead she chose these terrible light brown lace up boots! What was she thinking?
You can tell she thinks she looks hot. All that auditing must have fried her fashion chip.
Katie presented the video of the year, which Katy Perry won for Firework. Her voice cracked a lot and she looked pretty nervous up there to me. I guess she’s promoting that Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark movie, which was out this Friday. It pretty much tanked at the box office and came in third after The Help and Columbiana. She’ll have to ditch her husband if she wants her career back. It worked for Nicole Kidman. She can act though.

Getting to work on a new project, Katie Holmes was spotted at Digital Domain Studios in Marina del Rey, California yesterday (August 25).
The ?Don?t Be Afraid of the Dark? actress hopped out of her chauffeured car and quickly made her way inside, sporting a grey top and navy trousers.
Perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of her appearance was what appeared to be a new chain tattoo on her left wrist.
It?s still unconfirmed whether Katie went for some real ink or if it?s just a temporary Henna artwork.

Up and about bright and early this morning (August 23), a bundled up Katie Holmes was spotted visiting the local dance studio in Brentwood, CA.
The "Mad Money" actress wore a grey zip-up hoodie and black tights over her slender frame while exiting the facility after touching up on her stepwork.
The sighting comes just as a brand new clip from Katie's movie ?Don?t Be Afraid of the Dark? has been released - with the film set to make its debut in theaters this Friday (August 26),
In the scene, Miss Holmes plays a woman named Kim who is seen showing her daughter, Sally (played by Bailee Madison), a pond full of magical fish.
The mother and daughter stand over the koi pond with Kim explaining to Sally that koi fish are a very special type of fish.
"Badgers can spot them against the mud of the bottom because of their bright colors," she says. "It makes them special. It's also what makes them vulnerable. They have to be tough. And you too, Sally."
