Never one to miss out on an industry event, Sandra Bullock got all gussied up and headed over to the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards earlier tonight (January 18).
All decked out and primped to perfection, the ?Gravity? starlet smiled for the cameras and mingled with fellow famous folks before strolling inside to find her seat.
Tonight?s festivities will kick off with a Champagne Taittinger Toast from Elisabeth Rohm and Clovis Taittinger, setting the stage to celebrate the best and brightest stars in the entertainment industry.
Speaking of which, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench and Emma Thompson all have a shot at taking home the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role title.

Sandra Bullock won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress for her role inGravity but it wasn’t all shiny awards and smiles. During her acceptance speech where she thanked Jackie Chan, Sylvester Stallone and Jean-Claude Van Damme for showing her the ropes, a technical glitch interrupted her.
Bitch, don’t you know who this is? Bullock wasn’t having it and deadpanned, “What the f*ck. I’m an action hero. You do not do that to an action hero.” The CW managed to censor it because exposing children to the word f*ck on tv is as bad as child rape.

| Sandra Bullock in ruffled Lanvin at Critics' Choice: striking or strange' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sandra Bullock wore a long, tiered ruffled Lanvin gown which I was surprised that I liked on camera. This is an eggplant color, right, or is that darker purple? Like Jessica Chastain’s dress, the photos didn’t do this dress justice. I thought it was interesting and flattering on camera, which is surprising for a dress that was just a very long series of ruffles. Somehow it elongated Bullock and made her look very tall and elegant.
Bullock won Best Actress in an Action Movie, for Gravity of course. (Here’s a link to the full list of winners.) She joked that she wanted to thank other action stars like John Claude Van Damme, Jackie Chan and Sylvester Stallone for “teaching me everything I know.” She also thanked George Clooney “for floating away and never coming back.? Bullock’s awesome speech wasn’t without controversy. She was interrupted by an audio voice-over and she dropped an F-bomb which was silenced out. Bullock recovered quickly and quipped “I’m an action hero. You do not do that to an action hero!” Here’s a link to her speech. Sandra’s speeches are always so entertaining.
In direct contrast to Sandra Bullock’s great look, we have one of my favorite actress, Kristen Bell, in a decent v-neck Pamella Roland gown with atrocious styling. Who did this to this lovely woman? This is not a bad dress, with that off-center keyhole neckline and the one-sided sequins across the front, but her poofy hair and overdone makeup kill the look. You can do a cat eye without looking like an actual cat. The makeup is so bad it looks like she had work done, but I doubt that’s the case.
Bell presented Best Acting Ensemble with Rainn Wilson, which went to American Hustle. They did a little skit in which Rainn affected a French accent.
Here’s another example of bad styling, Abigail Breslin, 17, in vintage Badgley Mischka. I really like the fit, color and embellishments on that gown. It fits her incredibly and it’s so pretty. She should have lightened up on the makeup, though, which is overwhelming what could have been a homerun of a look.

| Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung at the Golden Globes: bad ball gown or striking? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sandra Bullock had one of the most memorable gown at last night’s Golden Globes and not for a good reason. She was in color block Prabal Gurung, who was also responsible for Zoe Saldana’s monstrosity of a dress, which Bedhead will cover shortly. Bullock’s gown reminded me of Anne Hathaway’s last minute Oscar change last year, in that the dress was sewn with darts that lined up just perfectly over her nips. On camera, Bullock was nipping out all over. Don’t they make pasties to take care of that? I don’t understand how a whole team of people could have signed off on this look. This dress is pink, black and blue, it makes no sense.
In terms of Sandra’s styling, her makeup was perfect and I liked that she switched up her hair. She’s been really bringing her style game this year. Sandra’s extensions looked a bit fake and too-long, but otherwise she was gorgeous. That’s a good thing, because this fug dress would have been much worse with bad styling. Oh and she was up for best actress, for Gravity, which went to Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine. (Full list of winners is here.)
Hayden Panettiere was one of the first arrivals on the red carpet last night, and she was also one of the worst styled. She was in Tom Ford, in a forgettable little black and white gown that hung limply, just like her slicked-back hair. Hayden was up for supporting TV actress, for Nashville, which went to Jacqueline Bisset. Bisset was visibly shaken when she accepted her award, dropping an S-bomb and saying that her mom used to say “Go to hell and don’t come back.”
Also suffering from bad styling and an underwhelming dress is Orange is The New Black’s Taylor Schilling, in Thakoon. I find Taylor so pretty on that highly watchable series, and I would have loved to see her bring more glamour to the Globes. Instead she wore a green dress that looked like a nightie and sported loud, messy makeup. Taylor needs new people! Taylor lost out for best TV actress to Robin Wright.
As a palette cleanser, here’s Julianna Margulies in black and gold Andrew Gn. In photos this dress looks a bit too formal and fussy, but on camera it was perfect. I also loved Julianna’s simple styling and her amazing Van Cleef drop earrings. Julianna was also nominated in the best TV actress category.
Finally here’s Anna Gunn of Breaking Bad in Donna Karan. This champagne colored dress fits her beautifully, but I would have liked to see more color on Anna. This look is very washed out. Also, where was Marie/Betsy Brandt? She and Dean Norris should have scored an invite.

All dolled up for one of the biggest nights of the year, Sandra Bullock was in fine form as she made her arrival at the 71st Golden Globes this evening (January 12).
Clad in darling designer duds, the ?Gravity? starlet greeted her fellow famous folks outside the Beverly Hilton and posed for a few photos along the way.
This year, the 49-year-old actress joins some tough competition in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama category.
The Best Picture (Drama) nominees include ?12 Years a Slave,? ?Captain Phillips,? ?Gravity,? ?Philomena,? and ?Rush,? while ?American Hustle,? ?Her,? ?Inside Llewyn Davis,? ?Nebraska,? and ?The Wolf of Wall Street? are all vying for the Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) title.

| Sandra Bullock in Peter Pilotto at the People's Choice: lovely or too casual' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sandra Bullock was probably the biggest name at last night’s People’s Choice Awards. When they were announcing the nominees for Favorite Movie Actress, which Sandy won, I was struck by all the actresses who weren’t there. Also nominated in that category were Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Melissa McCarthy, and Scarlett Johansson. The only other nominated actress who showed up was McCarthy, which worked out well when Bullock and McCarthy won Favorite Comedic Movie for The Heat. That reminds me of when Jennifer Aniston seemed drunk at the PCAs. Good times.
As we’ve come to expect, Bullock’s acceptance speech was funny and heartfelt. You get the sense that she’s extremely skilled at speaking off the cuff, and that she’s very gracious. She thanked her son, Louis, “for letting me come out tonight,” and then added that she won awards “because people work a lot harder than mommy to make her look good.” That was sweet! (You can see videos of the acceptance speeches and hosting moments here.)
In terms of Bullock’s fashion, I really liked her Peter Pilotto dress on camera. In these pictures, I’m not so sure. The dress hugged her incredible figure and it was a nice balance between casual and formal. It looked a little too “sundressy” to me on camera at first, but the cool asymmetric hemline made up for it. Plus it’s the People’s Choice Awards, it’s not the Oscars. Also, I love her makeup and hair, especially because she switched it up instead of doing a flat iron look.
Next up we have one of the night’s co-hosts, Kat Dennings, in David Meister. (This reminds me to apologize that we don’t have photos of Melissa McCarthy, since Meister is her favorite designer.) The dress is a little too “prom” for me with the very typical strapless top, floral print and full skirt. I do like her styling, she’s so pretty. This was one of her red carpet outfits, Dennings changed multiple times during the ceremony. My favorite of Denning’s multiple changes last night was her first dress, a bright blue Oliver Tolentino. You can see that here.
Here’s Denning’s Two Broke Girls co-star and co-host last night, Beth Behrs. She’s wearing Giulietta on the red carpet. Behrs’ dresses during the ceremony were very girly and forgettable, although they all made her look gorgeous. This dress was a little better than the clingy, glittery dresses she wore while hosting.
As for how these two did hosting the ceremony, I was pleasantly surprised. The opening bit, which took place on the set of Two Broke Girls, went on too long, but they had some humorous moments throughout. The standout moment was when Dennings read some made-up tweet requests for songs for Behrs to sing on stage. Behrs was game and did versions of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats,” and Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.” They had great rapport and riffed off each other. At one point Dennings said “You’re Hathaway, I’m Franco.” They were much better than those two, but that bar is set incredibly low. Here’s their last gown change of the night, below.
Finally we have Nina Dobrev in black and silver sequined Jenny Packham. In photos this dress looks conservative although on camera it stood out and fit her like a glove. I love to see Nina’s fashion game. Something negative: I don’t like her hair piled up on top of her hear like that, it looks weird.
Nina and her Vampire Diaries co-star, Ian Somerhalder, gave one of the best speeches last night. (Excepting Jennifer Hudson, which we’ll get to in a moment.) When they won for Best On Screen Chemistry, they addressed how their real-life dating life paralleled their characters, until they broke up in real life. They said, in turn, “we started dating on the show, we started dating in real life, and then we broke up in real life, and yet our characters were still dating on the show. It’s a good thing it’s not awkward.” Then they looked at each other like it was awkward. It was cute, with Ian even kissing Nina on the cheek afterwards. I get the sense that it’s not “over” yet for them, we heard that they were back together before the holidays!
Bonus Ian looking a little d-baggy with that facial hair and smirk.

Causing quite a stir, Sandra Bullock was the center of attention as she showed up at the Nokia Theatre LA Live for the 2014 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday evening (January 8).
Never one to disappoint her fans, the ?Gravity? babe brought her fashion A-game and worked the crowd like a seasoned pro before heading inside with her fellow famous friends.
With such a stellar year of movies, music, and shows behind us, it?s going to be a tough field of competition for all of the People?s Choice Awards nominees.
Adam Sandler, Bradley Cooper, Chris Rock, James Franco, and Zach Galifianakis are all up for Favorite Comedic Movie Actor, while ?Grown Ups 2,? ?The Hangover Part III,? ?The Heat,? ?Instructions Not Included,? and ?We?re The Millers? have all been tapped for Favorite Comedic Movie.

| Sandra Bullock: no one should read comments or Google themselves | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

These photos are of Sandra Bullock at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where she was honored for her role in Gravity. Other award winners at the ceremony included Meryl Streep, who took home the Icon award, and Tom Hanks who had the Chairman’s award. The show wasn’t televised and from what I’ve heard the speeches were longer than usual, since no one had to worry about going over time limits.
Sandra is wearing a pepto Pink and bright orange Alex Perry dress with lace accents. It fits her like a glove, and she surely looks hot, but there’s something “off” about her styling here. Maybe it’s the contrasting bright colors, or the fact that her makeup is a little heavy-handed. This isn’t her best showing, which brings us to the point of this story. In her acceptance speech, Sandra cracked some jokes about how she googled herself and was kind of shocked to read what people were saying about her online:
The Academy Award winner, 49, admitted she recently did a little search on the web that gave her a bit of insight.
“So, I Googled myself and read the comments section, thinking I could get some tidbits of what people really think of me,” Bullock said while accepting her actress of the year honor for the film Gravity at the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s opening night on Saturday. “No human being should ever read the comments sections or ever Google one’s self at any time.”
But the star, who said she learned “a lot about myself,” opened up about her discoveries ? good and bad.
“Some things I was very well aware of,” she said. ” ‘Sandra Bullock is over 40? came up a lot. I know that. ‘Sandra Bullock’s way past 40.’ Yeah, I know that, too ? ‘There’s absolutely nothing special about her acting. She’s not particularly attractive, I can’t stand her, she’s mediocre. She’s over 40.’ And apparently Julia [Roberts] ? You and I are in a dispute over George Clooney. We talked about this, right? It’s shared custody and we’re both fine with it.”
Going off of that, Bullock ? who hasn’t publicly dated anyone since her divorce from cheating ex-husband Jesse James ? also touched on relationship rumors.
“[There were] lots and lots of comments about who I’ve dated. Some are true and some I’ll never admit to,” she said.
One person she didn’t necessarily date, but revealed she had a moment ? of sorts ? with? A fellow awards season regular.
“I was reminded I made out with Meryl Streep,” Bullock revealed of her online dirt. “Off-screen, not necessarily her choice. I kind of took her by surprise.”
But behind all the jokes and silly revelations, the actress, most importantly, acknowledged: “Some commenters thought I had good hair and good teeth. And I made some young girls and some over 40 girls laugh with some chick flicks. I sparked with Betty White and I’ve flown into space. I’ve had a pretty good life and a pretty good career.”
[From People]
Kaiser reminded me that the story about Julia and Sandra fighting over George Clooney is from the most recent edition of The Enquirer. We didn’t cover it, but the jist is that Sandra wants George to support her in her Oscar campaign while Julia Roberts is hoping George will support her campaign instead.
I found the YouTube video of Sandra’s speech! It starts at 1:40 in the video below. She’s so good at deadpan comedy and she’s such a great actress. She switched on a dime from being humorous to serious and heartfelt. Everyone is focusing on what she said about Googling herself, but her comments at the end of her speech are just as good. She got choked up when she said “I was watching beautiful stories about people struggling in everyday life in a world that they don’t think they belong in… and I was watching heartbreaking stories about our past in this country, that make me so proud to be in this business, because they will one day help me show my son how far we’ve come and how people have suffered so that there can be a better life for everyone.”
I know she’s talking about 12 Years a Slave. Just thinking about that movie gets me choked up like that too. It’s a masterful film, and I’m plodding through the book now. It’s not hard to read, it’s just hard to take.
