Sandra Bullock has been uncharacteristically open with the press lately. I think she’s at the point where she realizes she may as well speak up because things aren’t going to change otherwise. Last month, she told BET that she has discussed racism and bias with her son Louis, five. In a new interview with Variety, as part of their cover story on the wage gap in Hollywood, Bullock explained that this issue is not just about money, it’s about how women are treated in Hollywood, in the media, and in general. She said that it really hit home for her about ten years ago, when she was working on a film she didn’t name, that she was being treated as less than because she was a woman. She described that experience in visceral, emotional terms as an awakening. I would have liked to have read more context for some of her quotes because I think they were part of a conversation. Variety calls this “the full story,” which suggests that the print magazine has this same version of the article and we’ll have to draw our own conclusions. Here’s

| Sandra Bullock in J. Mendel at the 'Our Brand Is Crisis' premiere: cute or fug' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As I mentioned in a previous post, George Clooney and Amal Clooney kind of stole Sandra Bullock?s thunder at her own premiere! These are photos from the LA premiere of Our Brand Is Crisis last night. Sandra is the star, George is the producer, and all of the headlines this morning are about George and Amal rather than Sandra and her movie. Which? if we?re being honest, might have been intentional. The reviews coming out of TIFF were not good. It?s got a 44% on Rotten Tomatoes.
As for Sandra?s look? it was fine. It?s a fresh-off-the-runway J. Mendel and it?s okay. Not crazy-awesome but very far from ?bad.? I prefer Sandra in simple, clean designs and I would still love to see her develop a relationship with Narciso Rodriguez or someone like that. Sandy walked the carpet solo, posed briefly with her friend Billy Bob Thornton

| Sandra Bullock has taught her son about racism, bias: 'He fully understands' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sandra Bullock is doing promotion for Our Brand is Crisis, the George Clooney produced film in which she plays a campaign manager hired to help the Bolivian President win reelection. The film costars Billy Bob Thornton and Anthony Mackie and is out October 30.
A couple of weeks ago, we saw Sandra on the cover of Glamour, where she opened up about her fears for her son, Louis. Sandra adopted Louis, now 5, from New Orleans, and she told Glamour that she worries about his future in our country. She said “I want my son to be safe. I want my son to be judged for the man he is… If I could ride in a bubble with him for the rest of his life, I would. But I can?t.” In a new interview with BET, Sandra expanded on that, stating that she’s taught Louis about racism and other forms of bias like sexism and homophobia. She added “He doesn?t understand why people judge each other based on color of their skin, but he knows they do.” It was a kind of sad reality check, considering that she’s talking about a kid who’s kindergarten age. Here’s more of what Sandra told BET:
On if she teaches her son Louis about racism
Absolutely. It’s an open conversation we have. He fully understands what that means. He doesn?t understand why people judge each other based on color of their skin, but he knows they do. He also knows there?s sexism, he knows that there?s homophobia. He knows a lot for a 5 and 3/4 year old, but I think if you don’t start the conversation very early on you’re doing them a disservice. I’ve said it before I can’t ride in a bubble with him. I want him to know the truth but I also want him to know the good in the world as well but those are hard conversations to have.
“Do you find that difficult to balance sometimes?”
Not at all. It’s not a conversation any parent wants to have with their child. It?s not any conversation any parent wants to have with their child, is that you?ll be judged by the color of your skin rather than the content of your character. But it exists, and I want him to be safe and I want him to be aware. Once he leaves that house and I?m not with him, it?s his life and how he approaches it is his decision. But I want to know that I did the best I could as his mom to educate him on the ugliness in the world, and also the beauty.
[From BET via US Magazine]
That was incredibly well put, especially considering that Sandra was on a press circuit and was likely fielding questions all day. She could have given a half-assed answer, but this is something she cares about and thinks about deeply. I have a son and I also taught him early about prejudice, but we have the benefit of being white and all the advantages that go along with that. It’s got to be harder when you see the dangers that your child can face as a person of color.

| Sandra Bullock covers Glamour, opens up about her divorce: 'I let it affect me' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Sandra Bullock covers the latest issue of Glamour Magazine. The editorial is fresh and pretty. They dressed her in playful preppy clothes and her personality comes through in the photos. In the interview, Bullock gets candid and opens up somewhat about her career and motherhood. She was actually interviewed by her costar, Zoe Kazan, which could explain why she’s so chatty. Bullock hints about some of the things she went through in the aftermath of her divorce while focusing on how it changed and shaped her as a person. She’s a smart cookie and she’s tough. I enjoyed reading this and found myself nodding a little at some of things she said. She also revealed that her role in the film Our Brand is Crisis, which is out later this month, was originally written for a man. She requested that the gender be switched and was given the part.
Here’s some of what she told Glamour:
On not being asked to be ‘the girl’ in films
“They didn’t want me to be the girl. ?Cause I wasn’t classically beautiful. I loved comedy. I was the best friend. I wasn’t a leading lady. It allowed me to express myself in a more authentic way. Because I didn’t fit a certain type, it gave me the career I wanted.”
On requesting to make her character a woman instead of a man
“I did as my mother did: I put my blinders on and blazed forward. Sometimes you get a no. But I expect the no. I don’t expect the yes. With this I got very nervous. I didn’t know if George [Clooney] had made this for himself. But the response was ‘We’re cool with it.’”
On her youth and feeling like an adult
“I did some stupid things in college. Fact that I didn’t wind up in jail: miracle. Miracle! So I’m grateful for that. But, you know, I don’t feel like I was an adult till about five years ago.
I literally went, ‘I know who I am.’ Not completely. But about two years ago all the puzzle pieces came together. I went, ‘This is who I like. This is who I am.’
The events that gave her self knowledge
“Motherhood and divorce?and not just divorce but the onslaught. Again, I let it affect me. I heard it all. And I had to step back and go, ?I have the greatest gift in little Louis, and I’m gonna let him see the woman I want him to know.’ So a child forces you to get your sh-t together. In the best way.”
On if she thinks about the peril that African-American men face in our country
Men and women. [I think about it] Every day. Tearing up again. You see how far we?ve come in civil rights?and where we?ve gotten back to now. I want my son to be safe. I want my son to be judged for the man he is. We are at a point now where if we don?t do something, we will have destroyed what so many amazing people have done. You look at women?s rights; it?s turning into a mad, mad world out there. But sometimes it needs to get really loud for people to say, ‘I can?t unsee this.’ If I could ride in a bubble with him for the rest of his life, I would. But I can?t.

| Sandra Bullock's boyfriend has moved in, she possiby adopted a baby girl | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Well that was fast. About a month after introducing the press to her new boyfriend, photographer Bryan Randall, 49, he’s moved in with her. What’s more is that Sandra is said to have just adopted a baby girl. She also has a son Louis, 5, whom she adopted as a single mom in the wake of her high profile split from douchebag Jesse James. Sandra was spotted bringing the baby into a hospital, and outlets are reporting that she’s adopted a sibling for Louis. Here’s US Magazine’s report. They’ve run insider stories from Sandra so I suspect this is true:
Sandra Bullock made room in her seven-bedroom, 8,000 square foot Beverly Hills estate for one more. The star?s boyfriend of less than a year, Bryan Randall, ?still has his place, but he?s living at Sandra?s,? a source says. [Sandra], 51, and the photographer, 49, enjoy quiet nights at home with 5-year-old Louis, who [sic] Bullock adopted in New Orleans in 2010. ?Bryan and Sandra are total homebodies,? adds the source. But Bullock did venture out the evening of September 27. She was photographed carrying a baby girl into an LA hospital, leading some to speculate the actress adopted another child. (Her rep didn?t return calls for comment.) The move wouldn?t surprise Bullock?s pals. ?Sandra is a great mom,? says an insider. ?She?s very attentive.?
[From US Magazine, print edition, October 12, 2015]
Radar reports that it’s true that Sandra has adopted a girl, and that she’s hoping Bryan will be a father figure. Remember how Sandra experienced that terrifying home invasion and had to hide in her closet, which was also equipped as a safe room? That was in June, 2014. After that she got a gorgeous German Shepherd for protection and hired a bodyguard. She met Bryan when he was hired to photograph Louis’s birthday party in January. He seems like somewhat of a badass and he probably makes her feel safe after all that she went through.
If it’s true that Sandra adopted a baby girl congratulations! I hope we’ll hear more about the baby as Sandra promotes Our Brand is Crisis, which is out at the end of the month. After that she might head to Wyoming, if that story from yesterday was true.

| Sandra Bullock wore 'Minions?-themed pumps to 'Minions' premiere: fabulous' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm at Saturday?s LA premiere of Minions, the Despicable Me spin-off movie featuring a Minions-driven storyline. Sandy wore this Roksanda Illincic dress in black and yellow ? the colors of the Minions ? and she wore these absolutely AMAZING Minions-themed pumps by Rupert Sanderson. They are literally Minion-heels.
Sandy voices the character of Scarlet Overkill, the new villain in the Minions? world. She basically admits that she agreed to voice the villain character because of her son, saying: ?I wanted to do something that he could see, that I was in.” She also told the BBC that she loves that she?s voicing a villain because ?As an actor, being a villain is a great thing. Everyone wants to be able to do that. And we’re human beings – we’re crabby – so to be able to be mean the entire time you’re working? It’s a great release.” Here are some additional quotes from Sandra on the red carpet:
A Minion state of mind: ?I?m always in a Minion state of mind. It?s impossible for people to understand me. I?m constantly making odd sounds and things are always a disaster where I am. But somehow, I always get out alive. I?m basically a Minion.?
She?s a bitchy villain: ?It?s a job I?m very proud to step up into. I think it?s appropriate. I am a bit of a bitchy villain. And I think it?s appropriate I was typecast. It?s perfect.?
She?s a funny villain: ?They don?t write villain roles for women. But in this I was able to do the funny villain. And that made me feel really good. And Scarlet Overkill has a good reason to be like she is. It?s good to have a good reason.?
[From USA Today]
Super-cute. And no, no one believes that Sandy is secretly a bitchy villain in real life. She?s America?s Sweetheart! She really is, more than anyone else these days. Julia Roberts? Not so much. Jennifer Aniston? Eh. Sandy is the Sweetheart.
PS? I wouldn?t mind seeing Hamm and Bullock play opposite each other in a rom-com, you know? Their coloring is a little brother-sister, but I bet they would have chemistry together.

| Sandra Bullock is People Mag's 'Most Beautiful' of 2015: great choice' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Naming Sandra Bullock the Most Beautiful Person in the World is sort of like naming Tom Hanks ?the Nicest Dude in the World.? It?s an obvious choice, and it?s a choice that will give People Magazine very little controversy. The past cover ladies have included Lupita Nyong?o (2014), Gwyneth Paltrow (2013), Beyonce (2012) and Jennifer Lopez (2011). The ?most beautiful? does skew towards moms, but to give People Mag some credit, they?ve been doing more diverse lists over the past decade or so. Anyway, part of the agreement when one is named Most Beautiful is an in-depth interview with People. You can read Sandra?s full interview here. She talks mostly about being a mom to son Louis. Some highlights:
When she heard she was ?Most Beautiful?: She laughed. “No, really. I just said, ‘That’s ridiculous.? I’ve told no one.”
Beauty in LA: ?Real beauty is quiet. Especially in this town, it’s just so hard not to say, ‘Oh, I need to look like that.? No, be a good person, be a good mom, do a good job with the lunch, let someone cut in front of you who looks like they’re in a bigger hurry. The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren’t trying.”
Conversations with Louis: “[I?m] listening to him tell me why he was going to marry his girlfriend. But then we were having Sunday dinner, and he said he changed his mind. I just told him, ‘Always love those who want to love you back and are nice to you.’ Then we moved back to Legos and ‘Why are you making me eat broccoli?’ ”
Her workouts with Body By Simone four to five times a week: “I love that it’s not big weights, you move the entire time, it’s a torture chamber of sorts. When I started, I could barely do 20 seconds, and I’m not kidding. I’m crying on the floor, and she’s like, ‘Are you a smoker?’ I was like, ‘I hate you.’ ”
What Louis says about her wrinkles: “I was putting him to bed and told him that even when I’m old and gray and more wrinkly than I am now, I’ll still love him and want to tuck him in. And he asked why I have wrinkles, and I said, ‘Well, I hope some of them are from laughing so much.’ And he touched my face and said, ‘You’re not old, you’re just happy.’ ”
[From People]
She talks a lot about how she is as a mother, that she maintains the rules but she lets all of Louis?s aunties and uncles spoil him. She also says that she doesn?t want Louis to know she?s an actress because ?I want it to be so inconsequential and such a nonissue. I want him to be embarrassed by me like all other parents.”
Let?s see who else made the Most Beautiful list this year ? you can see People?s slideshow here. Who made the list? Vanessa Hudgens, Ariana Grande, Gabrielle Union, Laverne Cox, Taraji P. Henson, Gigi Hadid and many more. This list seems sort of? boring? I kind of think Taraji would have been a great cover girl though.
