Kaiser covered Jennifer Aniston?s Interview spread yesterday, the one in which she chatted with her friend Sandra Bullock and talked about seeing snapshots of her future. During that piece, Sandra talked about her future as well. Sandra?s is not so much about relaxing at the beach as it is stalking her children whenever they go. She (jokingly) said that she has given her kids a list of colleges they can attend based on where she wants to live, because she plans to be right next to wherever they end up.
Close to her kids! Sandra Bullock is already planning how she?ll handle her children leaving home for college.
?I gave them the places where they can go ? because that?s where Mommy feels comfortable living,? the actress, 55, joked with Jennifer Aniston of Louis, 10, and Laila, 8, in the Friends alum?s March 2020 Interview cover story, published on Tuesday, February 11. ?I said, ?You can go to these three colleges because I?m going to buy an apartment down the street.??
Aniston, 51, said that the Bird Box star should start ?building a college at the bottom of the hill right now.? The Los Angeles native explained, ?By the time Louis and Laila are at the right ages, it?ll be: ?I?ll just drive you there every single day. We can even walk and make it a physical experience.??
[From Us]
This really made me laugh. Trying to come to terms with your children not living under your roof is kind of hard to grapple with. I strongly believe that living away for college is a good experience for anyone that can do it (and I realize not everyone can). But good googley-moogley, I remember the heartbreak of my brothers going off to school, what am I going to do when it?s the little beasts I raised? Although, if I send them far enough away that they cannot return to have me do their laundry, that?ll ease the pain some.
Sandra also talked about bringing up kids in this electronic age:
Bullock went on to share her anxieties about raising little ones in a world where ?screens are everywhere,? telling Aniston, ?I look at everyone who is trying to raise kids, and I go, ?How are we supposed to raise children outside of a bubble? And show them the difference between right and wrong, and what kindness looks like, when it?s really hard to find it with all the noise on a screen?? Do you just keep pointing to a higher power, going: ?You have to answer to that thing. Don?t look at anything here on Earth. Just point up there???
I don?t have any answers because my kids aren?t adults yet so who knows how they will turn out. But we have access to the same media they do. So if a parent can keep a kid talking to them, find out what they are watching and listening to, we can still check it out, see what information is coming at them, find ways to discuss it. It?s scary, absolutely, but it isn?t unnavigable. But, yeah, I?ve asked myself, ?How are we supposed to raise children outside of a bubble?? many times, as I?m sure my folks did before me.

When covering Sandra Bullock recently I realized that the last thing we saw her in was Bird Box, which came out over a year ago. That was how they introduced her last night toom by referencing Bird Box. Where has she been?! Sandra was a presenter and she wore this dramatic Oscar de la Renta gown. The color looked more mustard on screen and it wasnt the best, but it looks worse in these photos. It wasnt that orange. The bottom is too fussy and ruffled for me but I like that she went with a big ball gown.

Sandra Bullock has been promoting her Netflix film Bird Box for weeks now. It?s interesting to see even the biggest old-school movie stars like Sandy and Julia Roberts hopping on the streaming train, and as they?ve found out, they still have to promote their Amazon or Netflix movies or projects like any theatrical release. Which means that there are premieres and screenings and tons of interviews.
Sandra stepped out in New York for a screening of Bird Box last night. This was her look a stiff, taffeta-looking Martin Grant gown in a shade of orange-red. I really, really dislike this. I mean, I appreciate that she got all dressed up, but bless her heart, she?s never been a Fashion Girl and it?s just never going to happen for her. The sculptural sh-t at the waist is killing me. Also: I always give Gwyneth Paltrow a lot of crap for never changing her hair beyond the ?90s, but we could say the same about Sandra too. She?s been doing this flat-ironed, center-part look for years. It?s kind of tired.
Sandra was on The Late Show last night and she explained Bird Box a little bit. It sounds like a very odd film.

Sandra Bullock is promoting her post apocalyptic horror movie streaming on Netflix, Bird Box. Netflix, for all its internal problems, is really killing it lately. They just announced that their new family-friendly Christmas movie, The Christmas Chronicles starring Kurt Russell as a hot Santa, got 20 million streams in just a week. (I thought it was really cute.) Bird Box is out December 21 and while it probably wont get that many views, its sure to do well. Entertainment Tonight has a press junket interview with Sandra and her costar, Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight). Sandra, 54(!), was asked if she knew what came up when you google her and she said she didnt want to know, but thought it was breast enhancement. When interviewer Kevin Frazier said it was mostly about how she hasnt aged she joked that she sleeps in a special chamber, but then got real-ish about it, admitting that it took over two hours to do her hair and makeup. After that she and Trevante joked about getting competitive with their fitness on set and it was so cute. You could tell theyre close and I came away from this wanting to hear more from him. The video is on ET Online and here are some excerpts.
On google results that say she doesnt age
Sandra: Im sleeping in a container that is devoid of of outside carcinogens, that helps lift what you dont have and come on, please! The only time you see me is when I do press junkets. Do you know how many hours of hair and makeup this took? Two and a half hours!
Im going to work this look all day today and then Im going to go home and take a shower and then its going to happen again at eight oclock in the morning. Im never out in the world where I get photographed unless its things like that. I just look my best.
Trevante: Before set every day, she would show up in her workout [gear].
She gushed about Trevantes workouts and his constant reading
Sandra: Theres a little competition. He gets up at like four and works out for two hours at the gym. Carries around his little jug of water. Constantly hydrating. In between shots, Trey would be up on some rock or some tree just reading. Like reading poetry, philosophy. You just stop and you went thats real. That wasnt for show because he was tucked away somewhere. Hes constantly looking inward.
[From ET Online]
I get annoyed at how long it takes to get a blowout when I get my hair done once a month. Some people find it relaxing to get pampered like that, but its not like youre getting a massage or a body wrap, you have to sit upright. It must get tiresome to have to sit for two and a half hours of hair and makeup. (Yes most of us would rather do that than our regular job and I know it sounds ridiculous to complain about getting my hair done.) Let me anticipate the comments about Sandra not being honest about getting Botox and fillers is she supposed to bring that up in this joint interview with her costar and potentially derail the conversation? She knows shes supposed to keep it light and make jokes so thats what she did. (Remember how weird it was when hack Megyn Kelly asked Jane Fonda about her plastic surgery during an interview with Robert Redford?)
Sandras face isnt that distracting to me, I found her wonderful and believable in Oceans 8, and shes only doing whats expected in her industry. Also more of Trevante please.

| Sandra Bullock in Alberta Ferretti at the Bird Box premiere in Berlin: lovely? | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Theres been a lot of buzz about Sandra Bullocks Netflix horror film, Bird Box, which starts streaming on December 21. I love post apocalyptic movies and am so excited for this one. You can see the trailer below and the premise is that something outside that people see causes them to go crazy and harm themselves and others. The only cure is to stay inside or to go outside blindfolded. Sandras character has two young children shes protecting, (its unclear from the trailer if theyre both hers), so it has that added layer of scariness. It also features John Malkovich, Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight) and Sarah Paulson.
Sandra was at the Berlin premiere yesterday in this one shoulder Alberta Ferretti gown featuring rainfall-like sequins. It seems like weve seen variations of this pattern on her dress so many times, but I still like it. Its more of an awards show gown than a premiere dress, but she looks gorgeous in it. My only complaint is that it would look more striking in a darker color. Imagine if it was gunmetal grey or darker with those sequins. Incidentally I was looking through our archives for older Alberta Ferretti gowns and I found this incredible metallic dress that Laura Dern wore to the 2015 Oscars. Ferretti doesnt always get it right though.
This makes me wonder whats going on with Sandras relationship. Shes been with Bryan Randall for over three years now and we have heard engagement rumors about them for almost as long. She tragically lost her father this fall along with two of her dogs around the same time, so this year has been really hard for her. I hope shes ok. Sandras two children, son Louis, eight, and daughter Laila, six, must be a real comfort and joy to her. During her press tour for Oceans 8 this summer she told some cute stories about their sibling rivalry. (Sidenote if you have not seen Oceans 8 yet, rent it! Its a lot of fun.)
Heres the trailer for Bird Box. Im so watching this over the holidays.

| Sandra Bullock and James Woods step in to save animals during California wildfires | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

California is in the midst of another round of firestorms. There are three fires destroying hundreds of thousands of acres and lives: the Camp Fire in Northern California, the Hill Fire in Malibu and the Woosley Fire in Venture and Northern Los Angeles Counties. The state is still reeling from the aftermath of the fires last December, as are our firefighters and first responders. The amount of loss is beyond comprehension. Outgoing governor, Jerry Brown, said of the crisis, ?This is the new abnormal.? It?s tragic and painful and although I am truly lucky not to be physically affected by it, I am deeply emotionally affected and cannot properly express how sorry I am to any of you or yours that have been devastated in this disaster.
However, I will try my best to spread some more positive news to help us through this, starting with Sandra Bullock. The Humane Society of Ventura County announced yesterday that Sandra donated $100,000 to them directly to help with misplaced pets and animals.
Sandra Bullock has made a $100,000 donation to the Humane Society of Ventura County to help provide care for animals evacuated in the California wildfires.
In a heartfelt post on their Facebook page, the care shelter thanked the Oscar winner for her generosity and explained how her donation will help in the wildfire relief efforts. The Humane Society of Ventura County was deeply humbled today by a $100,000 donation from Sandra Bullock and family, the post reads. Our efforts for rescuing and caring for evacuated animals from the Hill and Woolsey fires had caught her attention and her team reached out to the shelter to show their support.
Sandra Bullock and her family have reached out to other nonprofit organizations both during this incident and in the past, the post continues. However, this time she wanted to contribute to those on the frontline rescuing animals in peril and hope others will choose to do the same.
[From E!]
Sandra has made several generous donations throughout her career. She does her research and pinpoints specifically where she wants her money to go. What some folks may not realize is exactly how fast these fires are whipping through these areas, especially with the aid of the Santa Ana Winds. If a pet gets spooked and bolts, there may not be time to go after it. In addition, people live in these areas so they can properly house large animals or numbers of animals. And those who have fled may not have a place that allows pets to stay. The shelters are bursting with new pets and some have had to find satellite locations. And when the fires are contained (God bless each and every person fighting them), these shelters will still be dealing with lost or misplaced animals for months to come. So a sizable donation such as Sandras will do a lot of good to an incredibly taxed facility.
I am so grateful to Sandra and everyone who has reached out to help, whether directly or by spreading news. Someone else who deserves credit is actor James Woods, who has turned his Twitter feed into a central location for fire information. James, who was on the East Coast when the fires started raging, created a series of hashtags to help spread information like missing persons and pets, pleas, tips and hotlines, Good Samaritans offering services or shelter and updates on those found and reunited. He directly assisted Alyssa Milano in getting her five horses evacuated. Say what you want about Californians being the land of Fruits and Nuts, but when the cards are down, there?s nothing flakey about us.
These fires are terrifying and devastating. Anyone looking for updates and info, @RealJamesWoods is posting a ton of helpful stuff. Thanks, James. Praying for everyone involved. And to the @LAFD keep up the amazingly courageous and heroic work. Thank you!

It?s hard to keep up with the volumes of stories coming out of Houston right now. Each one as tragic and important as the last. I keep seeing the tweets in which people are giving out their address begging for someone to come get them and wish there was more that I could do. I?ve made donations to various organizations but it?s a pittance when you consider what is needed. Fortunately, those with the means to do so have made much more substantial donations. One such person is actress and part-time Austinite, Sandra Bullock. Sandra has both business interests and a residence in Austin, Texas. The suffering in Houston hits close to her heart. So she put up $1 million dollars to help rescue efforts immediately.
ActressSandra Bullockis pitching in to help victims ofHurricane Harvey? donating $1 million to the Red Cross relief effort, the relief organization confirms.
?This is an incredible gift. We?re so thankful. It?s times like this when we do receive such an incredible amount of support. Especially during times of disaster, people see what?s happening in Texas and our hearts all go out to them,? Elizabeth Penniman, Vice President of Communications for American Red Cross national headquarters, tells PEOPLE. ?Having someone like Sandra Bullock make this kind of commitment, it helps bring people together and open their hearts and be even more generous.?
Although the country may be politically polarized, Bullock says the disaster wrought by Harvey ? now downgraded to a tropical storm and expected to dump as much as 39 inches of rain on Houston and the surrounding region ? should bring all Americans together.
?There are no politics in eight feet of water,? says the star. ?There are human beings in eight feet of water.?
?It?s been a tragic weekend, and unfortunately, the worst is yet to come,? says Brad Kieserman, vice president of Disaster Services and Logistics for the Red Cross. ?We are beginning a massive relief effort.?
That includes providing shelter and supplies for thousands. For Bullock, she says she?s happy to do her part.
?I?m just grateful I can do it,? she says. ?We all have to do our part.?
[From People]
?There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water.? Can we all say this together at full volume, please? Good for Sandra. She has a long history of donating generously in times of crisis or to bolster a community in need. We know that Texas and New Orleans hold a special place for her so this did not surprise me but that didn?t make it any less sweet to read. I know Kevin Hart has his challenge going on and Beyonc?s pastor said she has done more than anyone will know behind the scenes. The owner of the Houston Rockets has just upped his donation to $10 million and Jamie Foxx will host a telethon on Sept 12. Each one of them is giving valuable resources and a welcome dollop of hope.
Most of us have been devastated by what we?ve seen coming out of Houston. I?ve been alternating between watching videos of the devastation and rescue videos of both people and animals. To everyone?s efforts to help, be it a donation, sharing valuable information on social media, the reporters who interrupted reporting to rescue someone, those who grabbed their boats and barreled towards the flooded area, those who opened their businesses as shelter or any other way you?ve helped, thank you. Please refer to Corey?s post from yesterday for a link to ways you can help. Many commenters have also listed organizations, which is terrific and welcome here as well. In addition to the havoc Harvey has wrought, South Asia is currently flooding from monsoons and Montana is being destroyed by wildfires. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by these disasters.

Sandra Bullock seems to have found her dream man in boyfriend Bryan Randall. He has embraced Sandra’s kids – her 6-year-old son Louis and the newest addition to her family, 3-year-old Laila and has hinted that he might want even more kids with Sandy, going so far as to give up one of his biggest vices.
Sandra is usually pretty tight-lipped about her personal life, but while promoting Our Brand is Chaos (Remember that? Yeah, me neither), she gave People magazine exclusive insider details. Sparks ignited between Sandra and Bryan when he photographed son Louis’ graduation from kindergarten. The couple have been together for a year now and Bryan moved in to Sandra’s house this past fall. A source close to the couple told US Weekly that Bryan “has taken on the role of raising the two kids with Sandra? and added, ?He?s talking about wanting more children.?
Bryan seems to be wholly committed to having a lasting relationship with Sandra and the kids. US Weekly’s insider says that Bryan ?went so far as to quit cigarettes cold turkey. That?s huge ? he was a chain-smoker!? Other sources close to the couple have told the magazine that ?Bryan and Sandra are total homebodies? and that ?Sandra is a great mom. She?s very attentive.? Not only is Sandra a perfect Mom, but Bryan is a “child whisperer.? Sounds like a match made in heaven.
I do think Sandra and Bryan make good parents – especially Sandra, who tries her best to keep Lois and Laila out of the limelight, but more kids? She’s 51 and he’s 49. Don’t they want to enjoy the “empty nest” at some point in lives?

| Sandra Bullock on adopting Laila: Louis 'wanted a sibling with brown skin' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
Yesterday People Magazine came out with their new cover story, on Sandra Bullock’s adoption of a three and a half year-old girl, Laila, from the foster care system. Sandra waited until the adoption had officially gone through to make the announcement, explaining that she was legally obligated to keep Laila’s identity private and that she’d gone to great lengths to keep paparazzi photos of the girl from being published.
People’s piece was long and there are a lot of details that we didn’t yet report, mostly about how Laila and her older brother Louis, five, get along. Sandra said that Louis had asked for a sibling for several years and that he didn’t have a preference as to whether he had a brother or sister, but that he did want someone who had brown skin like him. She also told some cute stories about Laila and Louis bonding.
She knows she was meant to adopt Laila
I didn?t want Louis to think for a second that I wanted or needed more than him, because I had everything I needed. When I look at Laila, there?s not doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here. I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.
Louis wanted a sibling
Louis spearheaded this whole journey. I did remind him that it could be either a brother or a sister and that we would be so lucky to have either one. He did specify that he wanted a sibling who has some brown skin.
On if she specifically wanted a daughter
Through the years there were many options that presented themselves that in the end didn?t work out. All of them were boys of various ages. Not one girl. At one point I was even getting on a plane the next day when things fell through. But again, I knew that we would find our family – we just needed to be patient. So when Laila came into our lives, we just had to move over because she was coming no matter what, and she knew exactly how things were going to run.
Louis is protective of Laila
When Laila finally came to us and we were getting visits from CPS, there was an afternoon when we were outside and Louis saw their car pull up and he ran next to Laila and asked the CPS workers why they were there. They replied that they were there to see if Laila was okay. He replied, ?You?re not going to take her away, are you?? And at that moment, I knew I could stop worrying about whether I had found the right match.
On the first time Louis and Laila met
He grabbed her hand and dragged her into his playroom the first moment he met her. He?s a wise old soul and often knows more than I give him credit for. I think he was ready for her before she even arrived, and he knew exactly what to do as a big brother. He knew to be cautious and gentle. But now that time has passed and it?s like the WWE.
How they will celebrate Christmas
I will spend Christmas trying to convince Bwoono Maws [Bruno Mars, Laila loves him] to be under the tree and to somehow get Darth Va-der and Hans Solo to be there as well. The most magical part will be watching Louis show a little girl who may never have had a Christmas before what it?s all about.
[From People Magazine, print edition, headers added]
Many of you noted in the comments that it looked like Sandra was deliberately hiding the kids’ faces in the cover photo. In the photos in the magazine, there are only back and side view photos of Laila and Louis, there are no shots of their faces from the front except where Louis is wearing a mask. As I mentioned yesterday, Sandra’s boyfriend, photographer Bryan Randall, took the photos. She didn’t talk about him in the interview, but she did slyly say “the photographer was very patient.” I was surprised at how open Sandra was, she’s changed a lot and I think that’s down to being a mom. She told this kind of devastating story of being at her mom’s deathbed (Sandra’s mom passed in 2000) where her mom told her “Don’t be like me.” Sandra explained that her mom “didn’t want me to go through life shut down, afraid of feeling.” She said that “life has made sure I feel everything now, and I’m not ashamed of it anymore.”

| People: Sandra Bullock confirms adoption of three year-old daughter, Laila | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |
|
|
|
|
|
When Sandra Bullock was promoting her film, Our Brand is Crisis, she was asked about the rumors that she had adopted a daughter. Those stories were based on paparazzi sightings of Sandra, with US Magazine reporting that “she was photographed carrying a baby girl into an LA hospital” on September 27th. So they weren’t entirely unfounded reports, only Sandra denied them. About a month later, she told BET that she hadn’t adopted a second child. “There?s only one adopted child in my household and his name is Louis. If I had a second adopted child everyone would be hearing about it. I would be loud and clear and say ?yes, I have officially adopted a second child.? Now, Louis will be it.”
Do you notice how carefully she worded that denial? She said “there’s only one adopted child in my household.” In the new issue of People, Sandra admits that she did adopt a girl, a three and half year-old daughter named Laila, but reveals why she had to keep Laila’s adoption a secret – Laila was a child in foster care and the adoption process would have been jeopardized if the news got out before it become official. She had signed a “confidentiality agreement stating that you will not release any photos of the child to a third party to protect their identity” and she was still being evaluated by CPS as a potential adoptive parent. Tabloids were threatening to publish the photos, which could potentially send Laila back into the foster care system. In order to shut it down and ensure that the adoption went through, Sandra had to get lawyers involved and have the publications threatened.
In People, Sandra, 51, explains that she started the adoption process about three years ago when her son, Louis, now five, asked for a sibling. Now that Laila is in their lives Sandra says “there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here.” She also has a lot of touching things to say about helping Laila adjust to her new family after the little girl had bounced around in foster care. I have to admit I did get teared up a few times while reading the full article. Here are some highlights. The full article is very long and detailed, I’m surprised at how much Sandra opened up, and it’s worth picking up the print edition for.
On helping Laila adjust to her new life and family
I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere. Something I learned in Louis’s preschool was the saying “Mamas always come back.” and this was what I kept saying to her. It requires sleeping on the floor next to her bed and holding her hand so she can go to sleep; it requires being A-OK with a little being attached to your body at all times during the day. Saying “I’ll be right back” or “I’m taking Louis to school” wasn’t enough. I had to walk her through all the steps of where I am going to assure her I wasn’t leaving her. That’s what you do.
On making Laila feel comfortable and safe
With an older child they are experiences that they have already had that molded their personality: some good and many that are heartbreakingly sad. As a parent of a child who has experienced this, you have to be prepared to psychologically educate yourself to the steps you will need to take in order to repair any damage that may have taken place before your arrival.
On having to hide Laila before the adoption went through
We had a scary emergency-room run, and unbeknownst to me, a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us in line… The next day, I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers ? having them begging everyone to keep her safe… thankfully we were able to get to all the periodicals and prevent the publication of the photos.
Her kids know to go inside if they hear helicopters or a drone
She now knows that when we hear a helicopter or a drone, it’s time to run inside. Usually Louis grabs her and carries her under the trampoline.
On saying she hadn’t adopted another child
Thank God it was asked the way that it was, because she wasn’t adopted at the time. So all I said was that there was only one adopted child in my home…
[From People Magazine, print edition and online, headers added]
Sandra was asked if she’s ever considered marrying again, and she didn’t talk specifically about her boyfriend, photographer Bryan Randal, but she did say that she wants to be in a committed relationship with “lots of love and laughter.” (It’s clear that Bryan is still in her life because he’s credited with the photos for the article.) Sandra also revealed that Laila is a jokester and that she absolutely loves Bruno Mars and knows all the words to his “appropriate” videos.
I came into this story skeptical that Sandra wasn’t open with the press about the fact that she had adopted a second child, but I fully understand why she fudged a little when so much was at stake. I also have a lot of respect for her for adopting a daughter from the foster care system and being so committed to helping her adjust. It’s a sweet story and Laila will surely live a charmed life with her protective big brother and famous mom.
