Selena Gomez was in Australia recently, lounging in a yacht in her bikini. After some paparazzi shots were posted of her trip, some trolls decided to body shame her, calling her “thick” and speculating that she was pregnant.
Selena, however, wasn’t having it. She posted the following to her Instagram on Monday:
The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails. ??

Minnie Driver has a new bedding line with HSN. She doesn’t seem like the type to have a lifestyle line, but it’s a lucrative side business for many celebrities. Plus her mom was a textile designer so she must have learned a few things. You can see her collection here, there’s not much on the website and it’s not unique. She has chambray bedding set that looks straight out of the 70s, although I do like the blue throw pillow with embroidered hummingbirds. To promote the line, Minnie talked to US about her bedroom style and bedtime philosophy. She has some sensible advice I wanted to discuss.
She always makes her bed and her bedroom is a haven
?You better have a really good reason to come and knock on my door if I?m in my bedroom because it?s a full on sanctuary. It is such a haven and all the print in my room is on the walls. I found a beautiful Indian fabric and blew it up and turned it into an insane wallpaper, so I feel like I?m inside this magical box.
?When you walk into your bedroom it should make you happy. A scruffy, unmade bed makes me physically depressed, so I make mine every day.?
Why she doesn’t have a TV in her bedroom
?I don?t have a TV in my bedroom and I banned it. The bedroom is for sleeping and sex. Having a TV in your bedroom puts you in the wrong mood for all the good things. I love television, but there should be a dedicated time and space for it. The bedroom is a sacred space.?

I haven’t had a TV in my bedroom anywhere I’ve lived. With my phone, laptop and iPad, I can watch shows on demand without a TV but I rarely do that unless I’m sick. When those devices didn’t exist I would just read before bed, which was much more conducive to sleep (and getting lucky). I agree with her that the bedroom should be reserved for sleep and sex. Many experts agree too, and also recommend ditching the screens. (I don’t know if I agree with that linked article’s recommendation to not let pets in bed with you though. The verdict is still out on that, with some studies showing that having a pet in bed can help you sleep better.)
As for making your bed, I need to do that more. I’ve been following Gretchen Rubin’s 60 second rule for tidying up around the house and it’s amazing how much neater my house is. Making the bed should technically fall under that.

There are always rumors about Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban and the state of their marriage. I would believe those rumors, except that whenever I see Keith and Nicole on a red carpet or in an interview, they always seem to be on the same page about everything. Meaning? while we think they are a strange couple, their individual strangeness somehow mirrors each other and they are actually incredibly compatible, at least that?s what I believe. Meaning, they?re not anyone?s idea of Couple Goals, but they seem happy enough and they?re still into each other. In any case, I also sort of believe this In Touch Weekly story, about how they went to a private marriage-counseling retreat.
In Touch has learned that Nicole Kidman and husband of nearly 12 years Keith Urban, had a five-day visit to Marriage Quest, a private counseling retreat located in Cabot, Vt. “Nicole and Keith went for an emergency stay,” an insider tells In Touch exclusively of the pair. “It was an extremely emotional and testing few days.”
The couple, who share daughters Sunday, 9, and Faith, 7, ?have been fighting constantly over Nicole?s incessant jealousy and need to control Keith on every level,? adds the insider.
The trip to Vermont marked their final attempt to patch things up. ?It was Keith?s idea to visit the boot camp,? says the insider. The Lion actress resisted and only relented when Keith threatened to leave for good. ?He gave her an ultimatum.?
But in Vermont, the pair were side by side as they hashed out their problems. ?They addressed a range of issues, including emotional intimacy, and focused on the root of their problems as they learned to break down walls and start working on their issues rather than plastering over the cracks,? the insider explains.

?Nicole?s incessant jealousy and need to control Keith on every level?? Yeah, I believe that. I believe she probably gets jealous when he pays attention to anyone else, and I believe she?s controlling too. I just don?t think they fight about it. I think Keith has always been happy to just sort of tailor his interests, his grooming, his life to Nicole. They botox together, get their hair done together (completely with his ?90s boy bander highlights), dress similarly and seem to be morphing into each other. Maybe that IS the true intimacy for them. They also seem like the kind of couple that would go to a marriage-counseling retreat for the hell of it.
