Last week, we heard the completely unsurprising news that the Heritage Foundation is still pursuing the release of Prince Harry?s immigration/visa records. Last September, a federal judge said that Harry?s records would not be made public, that Harry has a right to privacy and that the records will be sealed. Now that Donald Trump is back in office, Heritage wants the issue relitigated. There are two bonkers elements to this: one, Harry most likely applied for and received a visa in 2020, during Trump?s first term; two, Trump has installed that puppy-murdering psycho Kristi Noem as Secretary of Homeland Security and Noem could literally just release the records herself if Trump ordered her to. Anyway, the British press is damp with anticipation.
A judge will decide whether to release the Duke of Sussex?s US visa records on Wednesday, at the first court hearing since the row was reignited by the election of Donald Trump. The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, sued the Department of Homeland Security demanding access to Prince Harry?s visa documents to determine whether he made false statements about his past drug use.
Harry, 40, admitted in his 2023 memoir, Spare, that he experimented with cocaine, cannabis and psychedelic substances, which he would have been required to disclose on application forms filed before he relocated to California with his wife, Meghan, in 2020.
The case was dismissed by a judge in Washington in September, but with Trump back in office the think tank decided to revive the lawsuit, hoping that the new political climate will work in its favour.
Judge Carl Nichols agreed to reopen the case and ordered lawyers for all parties to appear in court on at 2pm on Wednesday. It will be the first test of whether the new president will force through a change of stance at the department in charge of immigration, which has so far refused to hand over the duke?s records. Trump has the power to order federal agencies to release documents.
Nile Gardiner, director of the think tank?s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, said that Trump?s election victory was ?game-changing? because Harry would no longer be ?shielded? from scrutiny by Joe Biden?s government. He has urged the Republican president to intervene in the case, claiming the documents would show the duke either provided false information on his forms or received preferential treatment.
?Donald Trump is ushering in a new era of strict border control enforcement and Prince Harry should be held fully to account as he has admitted to extensive illegal drug use,? Gardiner said. ?My firm expectation is that action will be taken.?

The thing I want people to understand is that the rules and laws don?t matter. They haven?t mattered since January 20th. We?re in the great unknown here Trump could literally do anything, from ordering the release of Harry?s visa records himself, to letting this play out in court, to sending ICE agents to Montecito. I truly don?t know what will happen, but all I?ll say is that the Biden-era DHS and a federal judge already looked through Harry?s records and they saw nothing of note and nothing which would raise any red flags. Meaning, another possibility could play out: Harry?s records are released and there?s nothing questionable in them, and the Trump administration makes no move to deport Harry.

As some people pointed out in the comments yesterday, it does seem like the Princess of Wales?s field-trip outing on Tuesday was designed as a copykeen event. Last year, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in Colombia, they toured a local school and one little girl wanted to be Meghan?s bestie, so the girl held Meghan?s hand as they walked around the school. Kate managed to ?recreate? those images on Tuesday, as she exited a school bus and walked into the National Portrait Gallery, holding a child?s hand (a side-by-side comparison tweet is at the end of the post).
Meanwhile, something sort of hilarious is happening with Kate, her fashion and Kensington Palace?s announcement that they would no longer provide IDs on Kate?s ensembles. The British press is not reacting well, but they?ve also enabled Kate?s BS for so long, they have to bury their criticism behind a mountain of ?obviously, she?s the most stylish woman ever, HOWEVER.? I was reminded of that as I read this Mail piece on Kate?s NPG ensemble:
Do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there, but its about the substance. Back in the dark ages, some people ? usually men ? subscribed to the notion that style and substance couldnt co-exist.
If you were interested in clothes, you were frivolous. If you had a towering intellect, meanwhile, you didnt care what you wore, your mind being preoccupied with far more worthy things. But clothes are important. They semaphore who you are, and what you want to say. They can be the cherry on an otherwise dry cake, driving interest not only in the wearer, but in whatever else they might want to convey, from their current mood to their charities.
Admittedly, yesterdays outfit wasnt among the most scintillating. But this only further proves the point that clothes can speak volumes. This was the first public engagement Kate had undertaken since Kensington Palaces new substance over style diktat. Presumably, it would have been deemed hypocritical to rock up in the latest Alexander McQueen.
That the princess was, in fact, dressed in a chocolate brown blazer by designer Petar Petrov, a chic polo neck by Reiss, Jigsaw trousers, Sezane Bruna earrings and an 150 Halcyon Days Salamander Torque gold bangle, are not details provided by the Palace. But nor did they need to be. In 2025, we no longer need to rely on official channels. (The Palace still shares Kates outfit choices for significant occasions but not for routine engagements.) The details behind Kates look right down to which foundation she wears (Bobbi Brown) can be gathered far faster online.
Instagram accounts are dedicated to tracking her style, identifying the provenance of her clothes with impressive speed and accuracy. But even a quick Google Image search, or similar, can usually yield a positive ID. The Palace knows this, just as it surely knows people will continue to be curious her wardrobe. It may be able to control what it says about Kates style, but it cant control the publics interest.
Besides, there was never any danger of Kate being known solely as a clothes horse. Which is why attempts to emphasise her substance over her style seem puzzling, as well as poorly timed. London Fashion Week kicks off in two weeks time. Many designers are fighting to keep their businesses afloat. And Trumps proposed tariffs wont boost sluggish US demand. But Kate will.

The whole idea being, a princess?s main job is simple pose for photos, let people talk about frivolous things for a second, promote British fashion. That?s the implicit understanding for how royal women are supposed to function, unless we?re talking about Princess Anne. Basically, there?s a growing discontent about Kate?s attempts to be taken seriously and they?re edging up to saying that she?s hurting the British fashion industry. Her ensemble yesterday absolutely hurt the British fashion industry.

It?s just so funny to me that the Princess of Wales apparently threw a fit about how no one should talk about her style anymore, and then proceeded to wear one of her worst looks in years. I can?t get over this assy ensemble from Kate the stringy, too-long hair, the obvious ?bump-it? wiglet/fall, the catastrophic pleated trousers, the misshapen blazer. She was absolutely daring us to talk sh-t! Kate also has this weird thing where, when she knows she?s going to be around kids, she wears really dark colors. When visiting the 9/11 Memorial, she wore hot Pink when visiting a school, she wore all-black. I don?t get it. But anyway, we?re not supposed to talk about her style anymore, but I just had a big relapse. As for the substance of Kate?s big keen bus ride and museum visit, obviously People Magazine makes it sound like Kate deserves canonization for this.
Kate Middleton may have shared a glimpse into family road trips with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis during her latest royal outing. The Princess of Wales, 43, made a surprise arrival at the National Portrait Gallery on Feb. 4, stepping off the bus with schoolchildren and teachers for their field trip to the London art gallery.
Alix Ascough, the executive head of All Souls Church of England Primary School in London, tells PEOPLE that Princess Kate sat with the children on the coach and chatted with them. At one point, the royal took part in a classic road trip game: I Spy.
She was so relaxed and animated, and it just felt really natural, Ascough says. We?ll never have another school trip like that, will we?
When they arrived at the National Portrait Gallery, Kate walked in holding the hand of a student named Grace. Inside, the group visited an interactive trail that used the artwork to explore how faces can express feelings and emotions. The project is part of the new Shaping Us Framework from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, the Princess of Wales initiative to give children the best possible start to life.
Ascough tells PEOPLE, For the children, it was just so magical. It was an awe and wonder moment. They?ve been doing lots of artwork at school, so for them to be able to that within the gallery with the princess was magical. It?s what memories are made of.
Liz Smith, director of learning and engagement at the National Portrait Gallery, tells PEOPLE that the outing was a regular school trip with a very special person on the bus. That was quite deliberate. It?s planned to be for children, and it can lose that magic if you have that formal launch. At the end of the interactive trail, Princess Kate helped the children create self-portraits in a cozy nook that Smith calls our storytelling space? They all sat and drew and posted them into a magical cabinet where they disappeared. We might be revealing some of them.
Princess Kate was naturally nurturing and was listening and integrated with the group. She was one of the school party, and there was no official presentation. It was as if she was one of the mums, one of the helpers. And, as you are on a school trip, you?re learning as you?re walking and making sense of the environment. It was a real treat.

Everyone is being pretty careful to NOT give Kate credit for coming up with the adventure. In fact, they?re making sure it sounds like Kate was added at the last minute and that she didn?t organize any of it. I feel like this is what most of Kate?s outings are like though it?s never Kate being proactive and putting together events or launches. It?s her staffers figuring out these simple, uncomplicated childlike photo-ops for her.
