Before Christmas, there were several stories in various outlets about how Brad Pitt was going to spend his birthday and Christmas with three of his six children. Zahara is now 14 years old, and so it seems like she?s old enough to decide her custody/visitation for herself. And Zahara has opted out of spending time with Brad Pitt, just like Maddox and Pax have opted out. Now Brad only gets to see the three youngest Jolie-Pitt kids, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox. My guess is that even though Angelina has been filming The Eternals in England for several months, she still had to come ?home? to LA so that she could fulfill the visitation requirements and all of that. And maybe she wanted to spend Christmas in LA. But she definitely didn?t want to spend New Year?s Eve in LA. Days after Christmas, Angelina took her four youngest kids to Ethiopia. I guess Brad didn?t get to see them after Christmas huh? Incidentally, there are some exclusive pics of Brad leaving Puerto Vallarta (a vacation spot in Mexico) on NYE, so it looks like he jetted out of LA after Christmas too. As for Angelina?s Ethiopia trip, she and Shiloh and Zahara met Ethiopia?s president:
Angelina Jolie is returning to a place close to her heart. The actress, 44, visited Ethiopia with four of her kids ? Shiloh, 13, and Zahara, 14, who was born in the African country, as well as 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. The family will stay in the region for New Year?s Eve.
While there, Jolie brought Shiloh and Zahara to meet with Sahle-Work Zewde, the president of Ethiopia and the first woman to hold the office. It was a special treat for Zahara, who turns 15 on Jan. 8. Their talks covered education, sanitary pad solutions to help girls continue their schooling (girls often stay home from class while menstruating due to lack of supplies), and Ethiopian culture and history. The group also discussed Jolie?s ongoing efforts to treat drug-resistant tuberculosis.
The actress and activist has funded efforts for over a decade through the Zahara Program, named after her daughter. The Jolie Pitt Foundation partnered with the Global Health Committee and the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health in 2009 to create an initiative to treat drug-resistant TB. Their work has led to continuing success in treating people with TB in the region.

That?s cool that she brought the younger kids to Ethiopia and that Shiloh and Zahara got to meet the president. As you can see in the photos below, Zahara seemed to get dressed up in an appropriate ensemble, while? Shiloh wore jeans and a windbreaker? I?m all for Let Shiloh Be Shiloh, but no Angelina should have asked Shiloh to put on a better outfit. Shi looks like she?s about to hang out at the skate park. That?s my only complaint! The rest of this is very cool.

| Angelina Jolie suddenly switched agencies, from UTA to the William Morris Agency | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

For many, many years, Angelina Jolie did not have an agent or a publicist. She had a manager and a lawyer and that was pretty much it for her ?team.? She was sent scripts and she would read them and decide if she wanted to do them. There was no agent in her ear, telling her which projects to pass on or which deals to approve. When Angelina first got with Brad Pitt, I think he convinced her to join his agency, CAA, and she did it just to try something new, I guess. But she left after a few months. I personally think that she was turned off by CAA?s management style, plus Jennifer Aniston was (at the time) CAA?s golden girl. More years passed and Angelina was still just functioning without an agent. Then in 2011, she went to UTA for representation as a director, then in 2013, she had UTA represent her as an actress too. But now that?s over. She?s changing agencies. Interesting
Angelina Jolie has signed with WME after spending most of the past decade with UTA. Jolie is coming off the Disney sequel ?Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,? which is close to grossing $500 million worldwide. In recent years, the woman who is one of the world?s most recognizable movie stars has focused more on directing and producing than acting. As of late that has changed as Jolie has lined up a number of prominent acting jobs including the lead role in Marvel?s ?Eternals,? set for release next year.
Jolie came to UTA as a director client in 2011 while being repped by IFA for acting. As of 2013, she was repped on all fronts by UTA. Before coming to UTA, she had been without agency representation after parting ways with CAA in 2006. During her time with UTA, the agency negotiated Jolie?s first deal to direct a studio picture with 2014?s ?Unbroken,? and to direct Netflix?s ?First They Killed My Father,? which she also co-wrote. She executive produced the 2017 Oscar-nominated animated film ?The Breadwinner.? She also has a starring voice role and produced the upcoming Disney animated feature ?The One and Only Ivan.?
[From Variety]
Hear me out: this reminds me a little bit about how Angelina switched divorce lawyers in the middle of her (still not over) divorce. Angelina phased out Laura Wasser and phased in Samantha DeJean? and suddenly all of the leaks from her divorce stopped on a dime and Brad Pitt?s team stopped smearing Jolie 24-7. Could it be that Angelina suddenly needed a different kind of agency in what could be a new phase of her career? She?s made it clear that more than three years after she left Brad, she?s just now starting to feel okay and like she?s ready to really WORK. Perhaps she needs a ?war-time consigliere? for her career now too. All signs point to the idea that Angelina is going to be making some big moves in the coming months and years. Plus, she?s still extra-cozy with Disney and Marvel. We?ll see.

| Angelina Jolie: We don't have to be 'a perfect person' to be a good mother | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Angelina Jolie is very close to her children. They all seem to adore their mom. Considering all but the twins (Vivienne and Knox) are teenagers, that?s quite a feat. Teenagers are angsty and moody by nature. Maybe the Jolie-Pitt kids are angsty and authority-defying too, but in public, they just seem like happy, well-adjusted kids who have a great relationship with their mom. Whatever happened on that plane in 2016 was a wake-up call and Angelina got them therapy and she took time off work to make sure everyone was okay. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil covers the subjects of motherhood, growing up and leaving the nest. So of course Angelina got some questions about how she is handling motherhood these days. Some quotes:
Raising her children well: ?I feel I like being an artist [is important] of course, but I?d like the other aspects of my work to take over my life a little bit more in the years ahead. Really I just want to raise my children well, they?re all at those very special ages where you don?t want to miss a moment and just get it right before they?re out in the world on their own and having to face it. You hope you get all the good stuff in, so that?s my main focus. But I have some other crazy ideas for future things, let?s see what happens.?
What she learned from Maleficent: ?That [parenthood is] not easy, that even Maleficent can have trouble and worry whether she?s a good enough mum. I think what it means to be a mum and I think in her mind she has this idea, I did before I had kids, that to be a perfect mother we have to be a perfect person. that?s not true. You just have to do your best and be willing to put your child before you, and I think she has that. So she loves being a mum, I love being a mum.
[From Marie Claire UK & The Daily Mail]
?I think in her mind she has this idea, I did before I had kids, that to be a perfect mother we have to be a perfect person. that?s not true.? This is true. Not that I know from experience I?m not a mother but from what I?ve seen, there is never a perfect mother, because there is no perfect person. Everybody is just making it up and trying to figure it out as they go along. It?s so weird to think about Jolie raising her kids in LA, the same city where hyper-competitive mothering led to federal indictments, right? Angelina would never, because she doesn?t need to compete through her children, nor does she have any desire to have them leave the nest completely unprepared. The Jolie-Pitt children turning out to be well-adjusted, nice kids wasn?t what was predicted for this brood.

| Angelina Jolie's message to girls: 'Find their own power, but respect & learn from men' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Angelina Jolie and Disney are on the same page for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Disney seems to love this collaboration because Angelina goes all-in to sell the movies, and because she can talk about feminism while still staying on Disney-message. Disney?s feminism is definitely on the lighter, more consumer-driven side. I mean, little kids still want to be princesses, but maybe they also want to have horns and wings and wear all-black. Disney is giving them that choice = feminism. I have a point here! The point is that I love how Angelina and Elle Fanning put their own spin on Disney?s feminist-lite talking points:
Angelina Jolie has championed the role men can play in shaping the personalities of young girls. The actress, who stars in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, also said female characters in films should not have to be portrayed as physically tough in order to be considered strong.
I think that, so often, when a storys told which says this is a strong woman, she has to beat the man, or she has to be like the man, or she has to somehow not need the man, Jolie told journalists at the films launch.
Referring to her own character in the film and Princess Aurora, played by Elle Fanning, Jolie said: We both very much need and love and learn from the men. And so I think thats also an important message for young girls, to find their own power, but to respect and learn from the men around them. We have strong women, but the character that is wrong in the film and has to be taken out is also a woman. We show very diverse types of women between our characters, but also we have extraordinary men in the film, and I really want to press that point.
Fanning, who reprises her role of Princess Aurora in the film, echoed Jolies comments and said her characters strength is not necessarily physical, unlike many princesses in childrens films.
Auroras strength is her kindness, and she stays very true to herself, which is something I wanted to keep in the film. She is soft and feminine and wants to be a wife and have babies, and thats a beautiful, strong thing that isnt portrayed a lot on screen. A lot of the princesses are like were gonna make her a strong princess! And make her tough, so were gonna make her fight! And its like, is that what being a strong woman means? Like, we just have to have a sword and have armour on and go fight? Aurora can do that in a different way, in a Pink dress, and its beautiful that she keeps her softness and vulnerabilities.
[From BBC]
?She is soft and feminine and wants to be a wife and have babies, and thats a beautiful, strong thing that isnt portrayed a lot on screen.? Can we argue about this? Almost every romance and rom-com is based on the idea that yes, every woman wants a husband, a wedding and babies. Every magazine and every message from the media is that women want those things too. It?s not groundbreaking to portray a young woman wanting those things. It?s not feminist or anti-feminist either (it?s just a neutral choice). That quote is from Elle and I think she?s just trying to defend her character. But this quote from Angelina was just too much as well: ?Thats also an important message for young girls, to find their own power, but to respect and learn from the men around them?? Yeah but when are boys going to get the message to respect and learn from the women around them. Ugh.

| Angelina Jolie: 'I was feeling pretty broken' two years after leaving Brad Pitt | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

As everyone keeps saying, Angelina Jolie is back to feeling good about life and feeling good about herself. It took three years, basically. Angelina has been promoting Maleficent: Mistress of Evil all over the world for weeks, and she?s been making a lot of public comments as she does press for the film. Her quotes, taken together, kind of reveal that Angelina spent 2014-2016 in a bad place. Those were her final years with Brad Pitt, and she was deeply unhappy. In the wake of their split, Jolie says she was not feeling strong, especially not strong enough to play Maleficent again:
Angelina Jolie had to work to find the strength to play Maleficent again in the upcoming sequel. Jolie put the horns back on last summer to shoot Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which comes out this Friday, marking her first acting role in four years.
?It was a tough time,? Jolie tells PEOPLE of returning to the character in this week?s issue. ?I?d been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken. It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again.?
Jolie, 44, shares six children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, 55: daughters Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and Vivienne, 11, and sons Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, and Knox, 11. But while her six kids hung around in London with their mom during most of the shoot, Jolie couldn?t get them to appear on screen this time. Even Vivienne, Jolie?s youngest daughter who appeared as a young Aurora in the 2014 original, wasn?t into it.
?I tried,? Jolie says. ?Viv still can?t believe I made her a princess. None of my kids want to be actors. [They?re into] business, humanitarian affairs, things like that. Nobody was interested!?
[From People]
?I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken.? Two years after the Jolie-Pitt split, she still felt broken. Keep in mind that during pre-production and production on Mistress of Evil, Brad and his team continued to smear Angelina because she was? taking care of the kids in London. Anyway, I love that her kids couldn?t care less about being in the movie with her. Vivienne was so cute as Toddler Aurora in the first film! And it made me laugh because Angelina sounded like such a stage parent when she talked about trying to get Vivienne to do ?act? as Aurora. I wish at least one of the kids wanted to be in the second movie!

| Angelina Jolie in Ralph and Russo at the UK 'Maleficent' premiere: stunning' | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are photos from last night?s London premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. The biggest look is Angelina Jolie in Ralph and Russo, a gown which was likely customized for this very premiere, and obviously tailored for her body. There is basically a gold ?harness? with the bodice of this dress, and the fabric seems like silk tulle with sequins or beading. There?s also a pointed shoulder detail and what amounts to a cape. All in all? I like that it?s a BIG look and that she went all-out. But this dress isn?t my favorite? The back of the dress looks like a curtain valance and I find the dress with the hair to be too matronly.
Speaking of Matron Jolie, four of her kids joined her at the premiere everybody but Pax and Maddox (who is in college). Zahara in particular has been outdoing her mom with her (Z?s) premiere looks. Did Angelina agree to allowing Zahara to get couture for the promotion too? Also: as Angelina walked the carpet, her lawyers and Brad Pitt?s lawyers were basically filing an extension on their never-ending divorce negotiations. They have everything worked out except for the financials, and they?re asking a private judge to help them work through the financial stuff. The court agreed as long as they pay for the private judge themselves. More than three years! Three times as long as the marriage!
For some reason, Michelle Pfeiffer wasn?t at the premiere, but Elle Fanning was there and she and Angelina coordinated their looks Elle wore Armani Prive and Sutra Jewel opal earrings. She?s so beautiful. I?m adding some bonus Chiwetel Ejiofor.

One of my favorite things this week is that Disney sent Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer to Europe to promote Maleficent: Mistress of Evil by themselves. No Sam Riley, no Chiwetel Ejiofor, no Elle Fanning. Just mature vampire goddesses looking magnificent together. Yesterday, we saw the amazing pics from the Rome photocall, where Angelina wore COLOR (Givenchy) and she and Michelle looked like they were maybe thinking of making out. Hours later, they did the Rome premiere and it was also amazing? even though Angelina went back to black.
Angelina?s dress is Versace, big surprise! I actually love this dress? yes, we?ve seen her in a million glittery black dresses, but this is slinky and sexy and it looks great on her. I actually thought her hair looked way better at the photocall though. Michelle wore Monique Lhuillier a long-sleeved velvet-looking gown which looked great on her, and looked great beside Angelina?s Versace. Did they coordinate their looks on their girls? trip to Europe?
Someone said yesterday that Angelina?s kids (minus Maddox) made the trip to Rome too, so it?s not *just* a vampire-girls trip. Shiloh and Zahara walked the Rome red carpet with their mom for a bit too I love how Zahara is getting all dressed up for these premieres! Shiloh did not really dress up though? that looks like an ?80s style windbreaker. *gasps in Versace*

What happens when two regal goddesses meet up in Rome? They pose together for some of the cheekboniest photos I?ve ever seen in my life. These photos are MAGNIFICENT. Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer are doing the European swing of the promotional tour for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. They attended the photocall today, using Rome as a backdrop for their beauty. It was an incredible sight and I home the Roman Tourism Board cuts them a check.
Angelina?s ensemble here is Givenchy. She hasn?t worn a lot of Givenchy in her life, especially not when Riccardo Tisci was the head designer. But now that Clare Waight Keller is in charge? I guess maybe Angelina is giving Givenchy another chance. Or maybe a styist somewhere (for the studio?) decided that Angelina needed to wear some color for the promotion. In any case, it?s sort of a new silhouette for our sack-dress lover.
Both Michelle and Angelina have the BEST makeup in these photos. It helps that they?re both vampires who devour men to enhance their power and beauty. Meanwhile, did you know that Angelina used to have a crush on Michelle? Jolie spoke about that during a joint interview last week, telling Michelle that she loved her in Grease 2 and Scarface. And Angelina did use the word ?crush? to describe her feelings for Michelle. We stan a ?90s bisexual icon.
