Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie out and about yesterday in NYC. The photos of Angelina in the grey prairie skirt & jacket (with Garrett Hedlund) are from the day, when they did a luncheon at MoMA. The photos of Jolie in a black sack-coat are from the evening screen of Unbroken at MoMA. I don?t know if it?s Angelina?s makeup, but lately she?s been looking really exhausted. It?s not that she looks ?bad? or that she?s suddenly become unphotogenic or anything. She just looks like she needs to sleep for a week. It?s also possible that she?s sore from that car accident earlier this week.
Anyway, this is the first week where critics are finally getting to see Unbroken and publish their reviews. So far, the reaction has been? good. Solidly appreciative, at times very positive. Vulture had a great write-up about what Unbroken does for the Oscar field ? Vulture says that Unbroken will likely get a Best Picture nomination, but it will be a steeper climb for Angelina to get a Best Director nomination, much less a win. Vulture also says that Miyavi will probably end up with a Supporting Actor nomination because he?s already charming everyone on the campaign circuit. Interestingly enough, Vulture says that Unbroken will probably get an editing nomination. Which should be interesting, because the studio likely recut it without Angelina?s input. I think Unbroken is going to be a contender (the NBR thinks so too), but I agree, some of the categories are going to be harder to break into than others.
Last thing… Aussie actor Jai Courtney has a supporting part in the film, and he was being interviewed on Kiis FM?s Kyle & Jackie O show. They asked him about working with Angelina as a director, and he said: ?She just has this command.? He told a story about Angelina walking onto the hot, baking set with 300 extras and ?Everyone was getting very restless and she just walked out to have a chat to everyone and it was like… they’d never seen two hundred men shut up and stand still.?

Showing some love to her German fans, Angelina Jolie arrived at a photocall for her new film ?Unbroken? in the capital city of Berlin on Thursday (November 27).
The ?Mr. and Mrs. Smith? actress looked sleek in a black turtleneck with black trousers as she posed alongside Jack O?Connell and Miyavi while spectators and press looked on.
During her recent interview on the ?Today? show, Angelina confessed that she was a little nervous starring opposite her husband Brad Pitt in their forthcoming movie ?By The Sea.?
She explained, "We did a drama about a bad marriage. 'A lot of friends of ours thought is was a really ... they didn't say a bad idea ... but they asked us a few times if we were sure we wanted to do it."
?It [was] uncomfortable but we've already shot it, we've survived it and we're stronger for it. It was very tough material, so for any actors it was heavy dramatic emotional work."

Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie in Germany on the 27th, which was Thanksgiving in America but just a regular Thursday in Germany, I suppose. I don?t know where Brad and the kids were for this year?s Thanksgiving, nor do I know why Angelina couldn?t have figured out a better time to schedule the European leg of her Unbroken promotional tour. The London premiere of Unbroken was Tuesday night, then Wednesday she was doing press in Paris, and then on Thanksgiving she was in Germany? And Unbroken doesn?t come out until Christmas ? she literally has a while month to left to promote the film.
Anyway? she was in Germany. With Jack O?Connell and Miyavi. Jack?s style is nothing to write home about, especially for an English guy. I don?t know about you, but I hold British men to a different standard! They usually know how to dress and they appreciate great tailoring and an awesome suit. But not Jack ? his style is pretty blah and basic. Miyavi on the other hand looks AMAZING. You can tell that he loves clothes. He outshines Jack and Angelina. That being said, I do like Angie?s black t-neck and slacks. Very Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face.
Oh, and as for Miyavi ? he?s married! But that hasn?t stopped the tabloids from trying to make something out of Angelina and Miyavi?s seeming friendship. To be fair, she seems to have gotten very close to both Jack and Miyavi. Miyavi makes her laugh and Jack is the bad boy with the heart of gold. Who will she choose?! No, the Enquirer says that Brad Pitt is totally jealous of Angelina?s flirtatious relationship with Miyavi and Brad is pissed that Miyavi has moved to LA? with his wife and two children. I wonder if Brad stormed out of the room in tears?
Meanwhile, Star Magazine says that Angelina is the jealous one and that she doesn?t appreciate Brad?s friendship with their By the Sea costar Melanie Laurent. Hm. So, when Brad and Angie were fighting on that Sydney hotel balcony, was it about Melanie or Miyavi?

Showing some love to her English fans, Angelina Jolie showed up at the Odeon Leicester Square for the UK premiere of ?Unbroken.?
Joined by star Jack O?Connell, the ?In the Land of Blood and Honey? filmmaker was in good spirits as she posed for photos and chatted with her loyal followers.
Angelina told Entertainment Weekly that last Christmas she was a mess because she was waiting for a call from Universal to find out if she got the ?Unbroken? directing gig.
?I started wrapping everything ? even little things that went in the stocking. I couldn't just sit there and wait for the phone. So I was like, 'I'll wrap this whistle! I'll wrap this candy cane!'"

Smoke ?em if you got ?em!!! Angelina Jolie?s first major TV interview has just come out ? she was interviewed by Tom Brokaw for Today/NBC News and you know what? At the top of this clip, Matt Lauer sounds totally jealous that Brokaw got the interview. Ha! Angelina is Team Ann Curry, you know. She was tight with Curry and I seriously doubt Angelina will ever sit down with Lauer again. But Brokaw? Sure. Brokaw also reveals that NBC is making some kind of documentary about Louis Zamperini and how Jolie got the film made and stuff. Brokaw interviewed Jolie and Zamperini just a few months before Louis passed too, so I?m sure that?s why Brokaw is all over this. Here?s the interview:

I love that Brokaw went right for a quote about the wedding. Angelina talked about being married to Brad now, saying:
“It did change, in just a feeling of that security and comfort that we always had but recommitting after 10 years of being together. We were fortunate enough to be in that unusual situation where got married with our children, and they were part of the ceremony and they wrote some of the vows. So, it was all of us agreeing to be together and to just commit to this life together?not because we had to, not because anything was missing in our lives?but because we were absolutely sure. We felt that much of a family and it was that moment. It was really lovely. It was a lovely day? I think we have more moments where I’ll say, ‘I’m going to be a better wife. I’m going to cook.’ And he says, ‘Oh, honey. Just know what you’re good at. Know what you’re not.’ ” she said. “But I do this, ‘No, no, no! I’m gonna get this wife thing down.’ But he knows my limitations and where I’m a good wife and a good mom.”

She also says working with Brad was ?actually great.? Oh, and this is fascinating: ?The first film we did together, we weren’t together?Ten years on, we’ve learned a lot more about each other, and it’s a film about a very troubled marriage. So, it felt like the appropriate thing to do on our honeymoon.? Hm.
Meanwhile, In Touch Weekly totally bought the photos of Angelina and Brad?s Sydney ?fight? and cigarette-smoking. Sources claim that Brad threw up his arms and ?you could see the frustration on his face?He was clearly exasperated with her?They kept talking over each other and putting their hands up in anger. They were upset but getting nowhere. Angie looked like she was on the verge of tears.? Sources say ?Brad doesn?t want her smoking ? at all? and their fight was so major, they were ?distant? with each other on the red carpet. Oh, and they left Sydney in two separate private jets. Huh.

What is more righteous: Angelina Jolie?s amazing black boots or Zahara?s star-covered jeans? Some days, I really wish Zahara would just take over as her mom?s stylist because I think Zahara probably has the best style of all the Jolie-Pitts, and yes, I?m including Brad in there too. I totally want Zahara?s jeans. I wonder if they make star-covered jeans for adults? If not, they totally should.
These are some assorted photos of Angelina out with Shiloh and Zahara on Friday (they were coming out of Lee?s Art Store in NYC), plus some photos of Angelina solo, going into the Paley Center. The Paley Center outing for press for Unbroken. I guess Angelina had the afternoon free to take her two older girls out to the art supply store.
I?ve always enjoyed Zahara and Shiloh?s relationship. They seem like especially tight sisters, probably because they?re relatively close in age. Shiloh is just a year and a half younger than Z. And even then, you can tell that Shiloh is already an inch or two taller than Z ? Shiloh?s going to be a very willowy teenager, I bet. And I bet Z will always be petite. Shiloh?s shaggy Dorothy Hamill hairstyle is still amazing.
By the way, everybody has been talking about Angelina?s statements during her DuJour Magazine interview, where she basically said she?s going to quit acting. She issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly where she was like ?I?m not quitting? yet.? I tend to think that she?s in transition right now, deciding if she?s going to follow through on some long-gestating acting projects, plus she?s waiting to see how Unbroken is received. But? she?s talked about quitting acting for a while now. She really doesn?t want to do much acting anymore, that I believe.

Continuing promotions for ?Unbroken,? Angelina Jolie arrived at the Paley Center in New York City on Friday afternoon (November 21).
The Oscar-winning star rocked knee-high boots with a classic blazer and skirt as she flashed her smile on the way into the Big Apple building.
During an interview with DuJour magazine, Mrs. Brad Pitt discussed her role as a director and if she?s ready to give up her acting career.
"I've never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera," Jolie said. "I didn't ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier."
When asked if this means she?s ready to leave acting behind, she replied, "Absolutely.?
"I see myself moving into directing more and doing much less as an actor," Angelina told Entertainment Weekly. "I have a few more in me, ones I have been developing for some time, so I will do those before I step away."

We are in a Golden Age of Angelina Jolie editorials, let me tell you. While I didn?t care for Angelina?s Vanity Fair profile, the Mario Testino photos were gorgeous. Then the Variety shoot yesterday was stunning. And now this DuJour Magazine editorial might be the best photoshoot yet!! Go here to see the full slideshow ? it?s Angelina solo, and then Angelina posing with Jack O?Connell, the actor playing Louis Zamperini. Jack is super-handsome in these photos too. Ten, fifteen years ago? Angelina and Jack would have been a couple. They would have been torrid and bad and sexy and it would have been amazing to watch. But now they are just friends and coworkers. Jolie on looking for projects & finding Unbroken: ?I was looking for something to do and studying what was out there as a director. Directing is very different from acting because it takes more than two years of your life, so it has to matter?really matter?in a different way. Every time you visit a studio, they give you the projects? that have been in limbo, she says, ?and I saw these four sentences on Unbroken. I went home and I said to Brad, ?I?m really curious about this film?it?s a triumph of the human spirit finding faith and forgiveness, and this man?s life seems so interesting.? And Brad said, ?Oh, honey, that project has been around forever.???
Fighting for Louis?s story: ?I fought for it for months and it became less about wanting to do a film and more that I wanted to be close to be somebody like Louie. I felt I needed to go on that journey, that it would make me a better person if I could. I was begging not only to be the director?I was begging to have the opportunity to spend two years of my life focused on Louie Zamperini.?
Jolie on wanting to mother the actors: ?All the boys had to starve?even the extras?and we?d have days when there were 200 young men just standing in the heat. The mother in me wanted to stop and put everyone under a tent and give them water and just call it a day. The other side of me had to do my job and push it forward.?
Making Unbroken for her sons: ?In the back of my mind, I wanted to make a film that would help my boys become better men. They know Louie?s story, so I?m able to say to them that it?s not bad to be full of fire?it?s what you choose to do with that fire.?
Her future as an actress: ?I?ve never been comfortable as an actor; I?ve never loved being in front of the camera. I didn?t ever think I could direct, but I hope I?m able to have a career at it because I?m much happier.? Is the plan to give up acting entirely? She smiles. ?Absolutely.?
Working on ?By the Sea?: ?The tricky thing is directing myself and directing Brad. It?s hard, dramatic material, and we?re balancing. It?s a heavy film, and it?s not easy for us. But even as you struggle through it, you?re in the trenches together and you don?t expect it to be easy. We?re challenging each other and that?s a really good thing.?
Married life: ?I think when it?s right, it feels the exact same [as before].?

There are lots of quotes from Jack too, I just wanted to focus the excerpts on Angelina. Jack talks about how ?very f?king brutal? it was to lose weight and shoot the POW scenes and the athletic scenes. He also talked about learning that one of his friends had been diagnosed with cancer and really needing to be around friends and family just before the shoot, and Angelina got a helicopter and organized a big group of people to come out for Jack, and how much all of that meant to him. It?s a good read, but they repeat some stuff from the Variety piece yesterday. What I like is that Jack doesn?t seem to be playing the ?too cool for all of this? game. He seems to genuinely want to go out of his way to support this film. It?s nice.

Always happy to go the extra mile, Angelina Jolie was up and at ?em on Tuesday (November 18) to continue promoting her new film ?Unbroken? in Australia.
The ?Mr. and Mrs. Smith? actress showed up at the Sydney Opera House to chat with the press and pose for pictures in the gorgeous late spring sunshine.
Ms. Jolie was dressed in a darling gray Atelier Versace dress with a deep v-neckline while catching up with cohorts like Geoff Evans, Jack O?Connell and Miyavi Ishihara.
And though they weren?t at the Opera House for the presser, Angelina?s husband Brad Pitt and their brood are all in the land down under to support her during this tour.
