As I said during this past awards season, I liked the idea of Michelle Williams bringing her BFF Busy Phillips as her ?date? for the big events. I think they are truly best friends, and I think their friendship transcends Hollywood press and photo ops and image consulting and Oscar campaigns. I like that Michelle brought a girl-date who would be a lot of fun, and she wouldn?t have to think about the sexual politics of everything. So, what?s the problem? Well, first of all, Busy was Michelle?s date for everything! Like, Busy went everywhere with Michelle throughout January and February. Busy has a husband and a daughter, and it started to feel a little bit weird that Busy was always ?on call? for Michelle. Second problem: Michelle?s Oscar campaign seemed to include a ?second virginity clause? where Michelle acted like she was much too delicate to even allow a boy to touch her fragile body. In plain terms, she acted like her grief over Heath Ledger had re-virginized her. And it was sketchy.
Still, Busy and Michelle?s friendship took no hits. Michelle lost out on most awards, but whatever happened, Busy kept Michelle?s spirits up. Plus, Busy is a good enough friend to know that she could never look better, style-wise, than Michelle. So Busy always under-dressed. Perfect date! But just how perfect? Dun dun dun. The Enquirer claims that there are now ?rumors? about Michelle and Busy?s ?close? relationship:
Men come and go, but women who are best friends last forever! That?s the mottor of Michelle Williams, who is stuck like glue to Busy Phillips.
?Michelle and Busy have a mutual girl crush on each other,? an insider told The Enquirer. ?They?re soul mates who do absolutely everything together. Lots of people whisper behind their backs, speculating that their relationship is more than just platonic. But they?re just the best of friends.?
Busy has been married to screenwriter Marc Silverstein since 2007, and they have a 3-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, Michelle is mother to daughter Matilda, age 6. Michelle has dated on and off since Heath Ledger?s death in 2008, like a post-Heath romance with indie director Spike Jonze. She was also recently spotted out with actor Jason Segel.
?But there?s nothing serious going on,? said the source, adding, ? Nothing will ever touch the feelings she had for Heath. He was the love of her life.?
Recently, Michelle sparked rumors when she took Busy as her date to several awards season events, but the source says: ?The truth is that Michelle is reluctant to dive back into the dating scene? frankly, she?s more comfortable having Busy by her side.?

I think they probably are nonsexual-girlfriend soulmates. They seem to have a lot of love for each other, and I hope (hope hope) that it goes both ways between them – that Michelle listens to Busy?s problems as much as Busy is listening to Michelle?s problems, you know? So? yeah. Whatever. I don?t think Busy and Michelle are anything but best friends. As for Michelle being ?reluctant to dive back into the dating scene?? for the love of God. She?s had several boyfriends since Heath died! Why is Michelle pretending like that never happened? The jig is up!

Has it occurred to anyone else that Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has the same haircut as Michelle Williams? Because that just occurred to me when I saw that Angelina (or somebody) tamped down Shiloh?s hair so it now looks like Michelle?s pixie cut. Anyway, these are some newish photos – two sets, actually. One set is of Angelina, Shiloh and Zahara leaving their hotel in Amsterdam yesterday, and then the second set is of their arrival at LAX. Note the bears!!!!! The girls got some Dutch bears. Is that a thing in the Netherlands? Bears? I thought that was just a German thing. Basically, these gigantic bears are the new ?gerbils?. Whatever happened to those gerbils of doom, by the way? They were probably signed with CAA and now have a book deal. The gerbils are trying to ?brand? themselves. And now it?s the bears? turn. BEARS OF DOOM.
The Enquirer has a long story this week about Angelina and Brad?s bad parenting style. Basically, they are the Anti-Goop. Remember when Gwyneth – Brad?s ex! – said she?d ?rather smoke crack than eat cheese from a can?? Well, Brad and Angelina would rather feed their kids processed junk food than force them to eat veggies.
Brad and Angelina are way too liberal in giving sweet treats to their kids.
?With their money and resources, you?d think their children would be eating like kings and queens,? an insider told The Enquirer. ?But they pride themselves on giving their kids a simple, normal upbringing – and that includes soft drinks, candy, cookies and everything sugary that children love. Their youngsters are hooked on junk food.?
?Angie and Brad don?t know how to say no to their kids. And with six of them screaming at once, it?s just easier to give in than fight.?
Brad recently admitted, ?There?s times like, ?We gotta get up. Get up! Here?s your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink it all. Right now!? Just so we could get ?em up and going.?
The insider says: ?Brad and Angie fight over the nutrition issue constantly,? revealed the insider. ?He sometimes cooks up organic vegetable and tofu stir-fries or big salads, but everyone – including Angie – turn their nose up at the healthy stuff. For all their fame and fortune, they face the same dilemmas as any stressed and overwhelmed parents.?

Eh. Since I?m not a parent, do I not have the right to chime in? I was raised in a different era, and I was raised in the South by a Southern mother. Sweet tea was a staple of our household, and while I no longer drink it regularly, I do get a hankering for it a couple times a year. There was also a lot of fried food in our house, and a lot of sweets (my mom has a huge sweet tooth). I ended up not having much of a taste for pastries and the like (I love anything salty), probably because I outgrew it by being introduced to it early on. I don?t know, though. I?m not the picture of extreme health today (I?m about average), but I don?t think it?s because of how I was raised. But when you think about what OUR parents? childhoods were like (back when pregnant women were smoking and drinking), I just don?t see how this is some HUGE deal. Should the Jolie-Pitts eat better? Yes. Should the kids eat their veggies? Of course. But it?s not a war crime to give your kids candy.

Showing some love to her Japanese fans, Michelle Williams was spotted at a press conference for her film ?My Week with Marilyn? in Tokyo today (March 14).
The ?Dawson?s Creek? cutie was joined by Japanese model Maki Nishiyama as she posed for the paparazzi at the Imperial Hotel in a sexy salmon dress.
Last night (March 13) Michelle was in the house at the Roppongi Hills theater for the Japanese premiere of her film.
Ms. Williams donned an Alexander McQueen dress along with Valentino heels for the shindig, just two weeks ahead of the film?s March 24th international release.

Coinciding with the film's Stateside DVD release, Michelle Williams hit the red carpet once more for the Tokyo premiere of "My Week With Marilyn" on Tuesday (March 13).
The 31-year-old, who was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in the movie, charmed the audience members packing the Roppongi Hills venue while hoping to boost ticket sales ahead of the biopic's March 24th Japan release date.
The Tokyo premiere comes as Miss Williams is readying to shift away from "My Week with Marilyn" and turn her promotional efforts towards her upcoming film titled "Take This Waltz".
Set to screen the drama in April as part of the Tribeca Film Festival ahead of its limited June 29th release date, Michelle's new project tells the tale of "a happily married woman falls for the artist who lives across the street."
Directed by Sarah Polley, "Take This Waltz" also stars Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman and Aaron Abrams.

I have to give Michelle Williams some belated credit. Even though her Oscar campaign annoyed me to no end, she wasn?t using actively using her daughter as part of her campaign. Like, Michelle played up her ?mommy? credentials, of course, all while being ensconced in her second virginity, and all while actively playing The Widow Ledger. But in retrospect, isn?t it nice that there weren?t dozens of ?candid? photo shoots of Michelle and Matilda? I like that Michelle actively (and truly) seems to want to keep Matilda away from Hollywood and from the paparazzi lenses. If it had been Jennifer Garner up for an Oscar, there would have been twice-daily photo ops, every single day of her campaign.
So what do you make of these photos? Michelle and Matilda have been photographed out and about in LA twice this week, post-Oscars. I?m going to give Michelle the rare benefit of the doubt and say that Michelle is simply not used to being in LA with Matilda, and she wasn?t expecting the paparazzi to catch her out with Mattie. Is that fair to her? Or is this part of a new kind of mommy-centric campaign?
Mattie is a cutie, isn?t she? As she gets older, I see more of Michelle in her and less of Heath. And I like that Mattie isn?t used to seeing photographers too – she seems uncomfortable seeing strange men around her. As most normal kids would be.
One last thing – have you read this blind item? A lot of people think it?s about Michelle. I think it could be about Rooney Mara or Viola Davis, but Michelle probably is the better guess.

Last night, the Independent Spirit Awards were held in LA – you can see the list of winners and nominees here. Michelle Williams walked away a winner, at last, for Best Actress for My Week With Marilyn. I don?t hate her victory here – just as long as there isn?t a chance in hell she?ll win at the Oscars. Anyway, the Spirit Awards always seem like a fun night, and it must be nice for celebrities to go to an awards show in casual/business clothes. In past years, people have shown up in jeans and tank tops, but these days, more people are actually putting together ?looks?. Take Michelle – if there was ever a time for her to wear one of her high-necked, Peter-Pan-collared baby doll dresses, the Spirit Awards would be it. But Michelle decided to go for a more modern look in Louis Vuitton, with a dark blazer, short ?dress? shorts and a blouse. I don?t hate the outfit, I just wish the blazer had a slimmer cut, and I would have paired the blazer and shorts with something other then a blouse buttoned all the way to the neck. Still, Michelle has great legs, and I like that she?s showing them off more. One last (bad) thing: her Beatle haircut is starting to make her look like one of the Children of the Corn.
Here?s Michelle?s date (I?m sure), Busy Phillips in vintage. Dear God, this dress is AWFUL. You know I like Busy Phillips, but why does she always make herself look like ass when she?s Michelle?s ?date?? Is it to make Michelle look good?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and his baby-mama/girlfriend Hilary Burton were there. She plucks my last nerve, and he needs a shave. I?m still not sure about them as a couple too.
Here?s Jessica Chastain in Armani. Will she choose Armani for the Oscars? The thing about Armani is that it?s usually a very clean, simple look. Which could be very boring on Chastain. Of course, if left to her own devices, I think Chastain?s personal style is probably pretty rough, so Armani it is.
Shailene Woodley in PANTS!! I love that this girl wears pants on the red carpet. I love this outfit too, the black pants with the sparkly shirt and the interesting shoes (?? I?m not a shoe person). She won Best Supporting Actress too, for The Descendants.
Kiki Dunst in Dolce & Gabbana. She looks really, really good here. I would have loved to have seen Michelle Williams in this outfit.

Making for another moment to remember forever, Michelle Williams had a triumphant experience at the 2012 Film Independent's Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon (February 25).
Taking to the Santa Monica beach venue, the 31-year-old actress looked gorgeous in Louis Vuitton as she spent time with Busy Philipps on the purple carpet ahead of the annual beachfront event.
During the festivities, Miss Williams ended up being doted with Best Female Lead honors for her work as Marilyn Monroe in "My Week with Marilyn".
Offering up a heartfelt speech, Michelle thanked the "roomful of misfits, dropouts, loners ... like me" for selecting her as the prestigious winner.
The 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards will air at 10:00 ET on IFC with Seth Rogen handling the hosting duties.

Here are photos of Michelle Williams at the Paris premiere of My Week With Marilyn. I don?t? I can?t? ugh. She?s wearing head-to-toe Dior – her dress is Christian Dior Couture from the Spring 2011 collection, which surprised me because this looks like a vintage dress. And I said that to myself in a bitchy way, like, ?This looks like vintage. How sad.? For the most part, I dislike blondes in pink. I feel it?s too obvious, too cutesy. Someone like Viola Davis can work a bubble-gum Pink dress and she?ll look awesome and vibrant. On someone like Michelle, with her little Mia Farrow haircut and her affected ?fragile? look and vibe, it just seems too? childish. It?s not just the color – it?s the style too. The bow at the bust is killing me. Then the lacy appliqus and the long train? it?s all just? too much.
I?m going to go on, okay? It feels prom-y, like Gwyneth Paltrow?s 1999 Oscar dress. It also gives me a strong cotillion vibe – in many cotillions, the girls can only wear white, but sometimes they can pick their own gowns, and this style and color will be a popular choice for Southern debutantes. While there is nothing empirically wrong with prom dresses or cotillion dresses, or even with too-girlish, too-twee dresses, I just get so tired of it on Michelle. But I?ve learned not to expect her to rock my fashion world. This is her ?thing.? Cutesy. Girlish. Virginal. Which is a whole other discussion.
Oh, and she looks like an upside-down cotton candy ball. There, I said it.

Rocking bright red lips and a long Pink gown, Michelle Williams looked lovely at the Paris premiere of "My Week with Marilyn" on Wednesday night (February 15).
The former "Dawson's Creek" actress portrays Marilyn Monroe in the flick which helped her nab a Golden Globe Award.
Michelle was crowned Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Globes for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of the legendary 50s icon.
The role also helped her garner her third Academy Award nomination and second nomination for Best Actress.
Williams preciously told that getting into Marilyn's character was a lot of work. "It all started with watching movies, listening to interviews and pouring over books. It?s almost like a multiple role, because you?re playing someone who?s playing a role herself, and then who?s playing a role in a movie. And the nude thing, too. It was very self-conscious. So, it all started at home, watching movies and trying to mimic a walk, or figuring out how exactly is it that she?s holding her mouth. And these flashes of skin become so much more erotic."
When asked if she was ever tempted to fall in love with the leading men, she replied, "They're a lot of goodbyes in this business. Goodbye to the people you met in the places you?ll never return to. Goodbye to the character you played. And goodbye to the actor you pretended to be in love with!"
The actress also admitted that singing in the film was a challenge. "I?m not a singer; I have not sung since I was ten years old, but I had a wonderful man, David Crane, who worked with me every day for a couple of weeks ? taught me about breathing and about how to deliver emotion on lines, instead of just the words. So I had him. And then in my ears, I listened to ? I still do, it comes up on my iPod all the time ? all the Marilyn Monroe singing. I listened to her."
