Here are photos of Michelle Williams at the Paris premiere of My Week With Marilyn. I don?t? I can?t? ugh. She?s wearing head-to-toe Dior – her dress is Christian Dior Couture from the Spring 2011 collection, which surprised me because this looks like a vintage dress. And I said that to myself in a bitchy way, like, ?This looks like vintage. How sad.? For the most part, I dislike blondes in pink. I feel it?s too obvious, too cutesy. Someone like Viola Davis can work a bubble-gum Pink dress and she?ll look awesome and vibrant. On someone like Michelle, with her little Mia Farrow haircut and her affected ?fragile? look and vibe, it just seems too? childish. It?s not just the color – it?s the style too. The bow at the bust is killing me. Then the lacy appliqus and the long train? it?s all just? too much.
I?m going to go on, okay? It feels prom-y, like Gwyneth Paltrow?s 1999 Oscar dress. It also gives me a strong cotillion vibe – in many cotillions, the girls can only wear white, but sometimes they can pick their own gowns, and this style and color will be a popular choice for Southern debutantes. While there is nothing empirically wrong with prom dresses or cotillion dresses, or even with too-girlish, too-twee dresses, I just get so tired of it on Michelle. But I?ve learned not to expect her to rock my fashion world. This is her ?thing.? Cutesy. Girlish. Virginal. Which is a whole other discussion.
Oh, and she looks like an upside-down cotton candy ball. There, I said it.

Rocking bright red lips and a long Pink gown, Michelle Williams looked lovely at the Paris premiere of "My Week with Marilyn" on Wednesday night (February 15).
The former "Dawson's Creek" actress portrays Marilyn Monroe in the flick which helped her nab a Golden Globe Award.
Michelle was crowned Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Globes for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of the legendary 50s icon.
The role also helped her garner her third Academy Award nomination and second nomination for Best Actress.
Williams preciously told that getting into Marilyn's character was a lot of work. "It all started with watching movies, listening to interviews and pouring over books. It?s almost like a multiple role, because you?re playing someone who?s playing a role herself, and then who?s playing a role in a movie. And the nude thing, too. It was very self-conscious. So, it all started at home, watching movies and trying to mimic a walk, or figuring out how exactly is it that she?s holding her mouth. And these flashes of skin become so much more erotic."
When asked if she was ever tempted to fall in love with the leading men, she replied, "They're a lot of goodbyes in this business. Goodbye to the people you met in the places you?ll never return to. Goodbye to the character you played. And goodbye to the actor you pretended to be in love with!"
The actress also admitted that singing in the film was a challenge. "I?m not a singer; I have not sung since I was ten years old, but I had a wonderful man, David Crane, who worked with me every day for a couple of weeks ? taught me about breathing and about how to deliver emotion on lines, instead of just the words. So I had him. And then in my ears, I listened to ? I still do, it comes up on my iPod all the time ? all the Marilyn Monroe singing. I listened to her."

Here are more photos from yesterday?s Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills. I always think this must be one of the best events during the awards season – you don?t have to wear a gown, you don?t have to pose on a red carpet, you get to eat lunch with friends and other talented people, and you pose for a big ?class photo? at the end. It seems more low-key, and as such, it?s never a big fashion event. Still, it?s nice to look at the photos. First off, here?s Michelle Williams, back to her beloved pale colors and Mia Farrow-in-1973-styling. Michelle is actually wearing a Victoria Beckham dress! Eh, I still don?t like it on Michelle.
I love Glenn Close?s face, and I love her talent. I?m happy she was nominated for an Oscar this year. But dear God, that is one ugly coat.
I love this color on Melissa McCarthy.
Can we talk about how great Meryl Streep looks? She?s so beautiful. I love her hair these days, and Meryl isn?t a hair person. This look is perfection except for the panty hose-with-open-toe shoes thing.
I actually like Rooney Mara?s outfit here. The blazer is Thierry Mugler and the jumpsuit is Asos. The pants need to lose an inch or two, though.
Viola in too-bright Juan Carlos Obando. I love her in bright colors, but this is just too ?look at me!? for my tastes.
Octavia Spencer looks great here. I love her hairstyle!
And here?s a little Demian Bichir, because I haven?t been paying enough attention to him. He?s fine, isn?t he?

Stepping out for a media appearance, Michelle Williams was spotted at ?The Late Show with David Letterman? yesterday (February 1).
The ?Dawson?s Creek? darling looked fabulous in an Erdem floral print dress teamed with Giuseppe Zanotti heels as she strolled inside the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City.
During her recent interview on the ?Today? show, Ms. Williams confessed that hearing that she was nominated for an Oscar took her by complete surprise.
Michelle shared that she was getting her daughter Matilda ready for the day when her pal came in and declared, ?Michelle, they just called your name on TV.?
She added, ?It was a very sweet way to hear that news ? [the nomination announcement] slipped my mind, which is something that?s so great about having a kid. You get really absorbed.?

When I think of this year?s Oscar races, it?s basically come down to ?Anybody but Clooney? in the Best Actor category. I want Brad Pitt to win, but failing that, anybody but Clooney. At this point, I have similar feelings about the Best Actress race – Anybody But Michelle. Part of the problem is Michelle wants to win an Oscar for playing Marilyn Monroe, one of the most icon ?sexy? women ever. And Michelle just? isn?t. She isn?t sexy. I saw My Week With Marilyn, and I thought she gave a solid performance, but the film is deeply flawed (it?s ridiculous at various points towards the end), and Michelle?s performance is uneven because of her lack of sex appeal and her wonky voice work.
But Michelle is considered a major contender, up there with Meryl Streep and Viola Davis. I personally think Viola is going to take it home, but God knows. Michelle could be a spoiler – IF her Oscar campaign works. Which is a big IF. I think Michelle?s Oscar campaign still has some significant rough edges. Mostly because I think the ?little girl lost? thing is just an act, and I think many, many people see through it. But there?s also a problem with her schizophrenic messaging. ?Sexy? Michelle versus ?Single Mom? Michelle versus ?Little Girl Lost? Michelle versus ?The Widow Ledger? Michelle. Thus far in the campaign, she?s posed in her underwear on the cover of GQ, flashing her cleavage and baring her body, but it felt so creepy and invasive because it was joined with a tear-soaked, ?fragile? interview. She wants to be seen as a capable single mother? but she won?t stop talking in that affected little-girl voice. I could go on and on, but the whole thing is just upsetting me. Anyway, Michelle is currently taking pointers from Natalie Portman?s Oscar Campaign last year – more focus on all of the ?mom? stuff. Which is why we?re getting this new interview:
Michelle Williams may be raking in trophies and accolades for her work in My Week With Marilyn, but nothing compares to the pride that comes along with her biggest role to date: Mom to 6-year-old daughter, Matilda.
In fact, Williams, 31, has cleared her schedule of upcoming film projects in order to spend more time at home with her little girl.
“I just want to go back to being a mom for a while,” Williams — who welcomed Matilda with the late Heath Ledger in 2005 — told E!’s Giuliana Rancic on Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild red carpet.
Raising her daughter as a single mom, Williams admitted to GQ that she had hoped to give her a sibling, at least before ex Ledger’s 2008 death.
“I really wanted, and I really expected or imagined, that Matilda would have siblings that were close to her age. I wanted that for her. But I couldn’t make that happen,” Williams explains. “And now that she’s 6 that isn’t even a possibility anymore. So something that was making me feel impatient, that’s been removed. For whatever reason, that’s not our luck, or our path.”
In the meantime, Williams is anxious to share Ledger’s legacy with his daughter, who was just 3 at the time of his death.
“You know, as hard as certain things have been for me, it’s been harder thinking about how things will be for her,” she has said. “I have a lot of things that she doesn’t, and some of what I have I can give to her — the memories that I have, the objects that I have, the physical reminders that I have, the stories.”

For the love of all that is holy. I do NOT understand the conversation about giving Matilda siblings – I understand what she?s saying explicitly – that she missed the window to give Matilda siblings close to her age. But what?s the implication here? Is Michelle seriously implying that because Heath isn?t around to father any more babies, Michelle is simply not going to have any more babies ever? What?s implicit is that Michelle?s vadge has closed up shop through grief – I guess we?re not supposed to remember that she?s dated several men since Heath died (and she was seeing other men when he was still alive?)? I truly believe that Michelle?s subtext is that she?s gotten some kind of second virginity through grief. That?s what she?s selling – virginal, untouched, fragile, delicate, easily broken. It?s BS.
As for the ?taking a break? thing – fine. Sure. Good for her. She?s much, much too ?fragile? to handle much more of this.

Let?s start with what I liked about Michelle Williams at last night?s Screen Actors Guild Awards. I liked that she wore a bright color – this red/pink Valentino dress was vibrant, and the shade looked gorgeous on Michelle, who all too often wears pastels and pale, wispy colors that wash her out. I also loved Michelle?s hair last night – she gotten it to a great honey color that suits her skin tone, and the length, especially in the front, is great on Michelle. I also love that Michelle?s forever awards-show date is her BFF Busy Phillips. I know it?s partly a strategic move, and let?s not pretend that Michelle hasn?t had significant boyfriends over the years and all, but I just like that Michelle and Busy always do awards shows together. Their friendship seems genuine and sweet, and I?m guessing Busy is a true girl-friend to Michelle.
So, now on to what I dislike about Michelle?s look at her appearance last night. While the dress was a pretty color, the asymmetrical length threw me off, as did the lace detailing on her shoulders. The worst, though, was the shoe choice. As the cameras panned down, it really looked like Michelle was wearing stripper shoes. Also: dear God, Michelle?s little girl voice bugs me. It?s so affected. She?s making an effort to put present herself a certain way, that of an oh-so-fragile girl-woman, and the voice affectation is part of that. It drives me up the wall.
Speaking of affectations and Oscar campaigns, I think Lainey has been right-on with her theory that Michelle is following The Natalie Portman Method of Oscar Campaigning – it?s all about motherhood and being an ?accessible? (FRAGILE!!) single mother for Michelle. So I?m including some photos of Natalie Portman from the SAGs too. She?s too precious (and a mother!!!!!) to walk the red carpet, but she was still at the show to present Best Actor, and she deigned to pose for photos backstage. Natalie wore this Giambattista Valli haute couture gown that reminds me a lot of her Oscar gown from last year – similar shade, similar drapey design with some fluffy detailing at the bust. It?s pretty.

After having skipped out on the red carpet arrivals, Michelle Williams took the stage as promised at the 64th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards in Hollywood, California on Saturday evening (January 28).
The 31-year-old Oscar nominated actress lit up the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland as she worked her way up to the podium to announce one of the night's honorees.
Miss Williams' DGA appearance comes as she's readying for yet another awards show spectacle tomorrow night (January 29) at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Among the trophy hopefuls, Michelle is nominated for Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role for her work in "My Week with Marilyn" while facing off against a strong field including Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and Tilda Swinton.

Michelle Williams on her education, and how she ended up being home-schooled (a better fit with her acting work):
Her last formal school was Santa Fe Christian in San Diego; later its principal would denounce Williams after she appeared in Brokeback Mountain. (?Michelle doesn?t represent the values of this institution,? he said. ?She made the kinds of choices of which we wouldn?t approve.?) ?It didn?t really bother me,? she says, when I allude to this.
No twinge, I ask, when you suddenly found out that you?d been living a sinful, artistic career?
?It wasn?t any surprise to me,? she says. ?I knew. I remember my mother saying to me at one point, ?Just don?t make anything your grandmother couldn?t see.? And at that point I knew I was living a sinful artistic career, because I had done, and I knew I would do.?
…on how the role that first made her famous?the Dawson?s Creek bad girl Jen?still somewhat played into regular sexy-girl stereotypes, only made her swerve in the opposite direction with all the more resolve.

…on why she thinks her and Heath Ledger were drawn to each other:
?There?s an answer that I know,? she says, ?but I don?t want to say.? She talks around this not-saying for a while, then says, ?Our initial meeting, the circumstances of how we first met, were cosmic or something.? They were together through the shoot, and soon she was pregnant. ?Yeah, a lot of things happened at once,? she says. ?It?s a bit like: We had a lot of things to do, because we didn?t have a lot of time, or something.?
Writer Chris Heath asks if she thought there was a part of her that imagined she and Ledger would have somehow ended up together:
?That would make me way too sad to answer,? she says quickly, and I hurriedly begin another question, about something completely different, hoping that if I say it fast enough these new words will chase the old words away from where they are hanging in the air between us, and maybe she will let me pretend that it was something I never said.
?No, no,? she says, and I can see the tears forming, and I think she means that she doesn?t want to answer any more questions about anything. I mutter some kind of apology under my breath.
But, even now, I?m wrong about everything. Mostly she is just trying to stop my new question. She has something to tell me.
?No,? she says. ?I said it would make me too sad to answer but it?s also???and she nods even as her voice breaks once more with tears???one of my favorite things to imagine.? And through the tears, a beaming, almost beatific smile stretches room-wide across her face. ?It?s actually one of my favorite places to visit.? GQ
How many more years people are going to keep asking her about her dead husband who probably banged Lindsay Lohan at one point after their split. No wonder she has to go to her happy place whenever they bring it up.

This just goes to show you what a nose job, platinum blonde wig and a shitload of makeup can do for a gal. It worked for the real Marilyn Monroe, so why not the actress playing the part of Marilyn Monroe in an upcoming movie? It’s life art imitating life… imitating life imitating art. No, that’s right. An extraordinarily average looking girl gets manufactured into a glamorous starlet (Michelle Williams real life) in order to star in a movie (art) based on the real Marilyn Monroe (life) and pose for a subsequent promotional photoshoot for GQ magazine (art). If you’re high right now, I probably just blew your motherfucking mind.
