Mariah Carey is speaking out about the failure of her first starring film role, Glitter, all those years ago. Mariah knows the film wasn?t that great - in fact, she blames the director in a hilarious aside, saying ?But I didn?t have representation or anyone to tell me: ?What you need is a great director?.? Snort, chuckle. Because that?s why Glitter failed - everyone said, ?I really want to see that Mariah Carey movie, but the director sucks.? Of course.
Beyond the bad direction, Mariah knows where to really lay the blame, though. Right at the feet of the terrorists who struck America on September 11th, 2001. Yes, Mariah thinks Glitter would have been received differently if only the release date hadn?t been September 11th. Yes, that must be it:
Mariah Carey says her infamously bad movie debut Glitter failed because of 9/11.
The singer ? who stars in new movie Precious ? says her semi-biographical film was destined to bomb at the box office as it was released on exactly the same day as the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center eight years ago.
?That movie was released on September 11th, 2001 ? could there be a worse day for that movie to come out? I don?t think so,? she said. ?I don?t even know that many people even saw the movie so I don?t think it?s the worst thing ever done.?
?Glitter was a learning experience and I wouldn?t do it again if you paid me. But I didn?t have representation or anyone to tell me: ?What you need is a great director?.?
Carey, 39, recently played down her reputation as a diva ? insisting she is simply misunderstood.
?I have been through a lot that?s made me stronger,? she said. ?They say: whatever doesn?t kill you makes you stronger. So I?ve been through that kind of stuff a few times.?
?A lot of people have very different opinions about me and it?s difficult to face them and to deal with them and to go on and to say: no, actually you?re wrong. I am this, I am not that.?

I don?t have a problem with Mariah generally, she?s pretty harmless. But what started out as a gentle mocking of Glitter is turning into Mariah?s decade-long delusion that she would be a big movie star if only an epically horrible national tragedy struck just when she was trying to make it big in movies. Yes, Mariah is self-absorbed, this is not breaking news. But you?d think that even after all of these years, Mariah would still want to pepper her words with a little perspective. Something like ?Glitter wasn?t released at the right time, no one was in the mood for it because we were all terrified and grief-stricken, and my heart still goes out to the 9/11 families.? Something like that.
By the way, this isn?t the first time Mariah has blamed 9/11, or the first time she?s played fast and loose with the quality of Glitter. Several years ago, she famously said, ?The talk shows needed something to distract from 9/11. I became a punching bag. I was so successful that they tore me down because my album was at number 2 instead of number 1. The media was laughing at me and attacked me…Glitter was ahead of its time. Today it?s ?in? to make 80?s music.? Oh, Mariah. Get a grip.

Mariah Carey was joking around with reporters when she was in Cannes, and she told them that her 40th birthday in March was just a ?lie? being spread. She even calls forty ?the F-word?. It seems Mariah wants to be thought of a perpetual thirty-something, and has vowed never to say her real age again.
The worst part - and by worst, I mean too much information - is that this report from Bang Media has Mariah?s husband/assistant Nick Cannon talking about how he gave Mariah a ?bald eagle? for her 40th birthday. I don?t have a problem with ?bald eagles? in general, but I don?t care to hear about them:

The ‘Touch My Body’ star - who reached the landmark birthday in March - will never admit her real age and wants to remain a woman in her 30s for the rest of her life.
She said: “Read my bio again. We can’t allow these lies to spread! Don’t say the F word around me. It’s just a number but I don’t see why women should have to conform to what is expected of a 40-year-old - whatever that is.”
To celebrate her birthday - which was on March 27 - Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon whisked her away to Barbados on a private jet.
Mariah enjoyed an intimate dinner party with 11 close friends at the exclusive Wispers restaurant, which was filled with hundreds of Pink and lavender balloons.
A source said: “It was important to Nick that the trip be a very relaxing one, where Mariah and her friends could truly enjoy themselves.”
At the time, Nick revealed he wanted to treat his wife to a “bald eagle” for her birthday.
But as well as being an endangered species, a “bald eagle” is also a slang term for someone with shaved pubic hair.

Alright, not to wade too deeply into the ?bald eagle? discussion (I just grossed myself out), but who really thinks that Nick Cannon gave Mariah her first ?bald eagle?? I realize that?s not what he?s claiming, he?s just saying this one was special, because it was his treat. But considering all of Nick and Mariah?s beach photo-ops featuring Mariah?s too-flat stomach in itty-bitty bikinis, I think the girl?s had a bald eagle for the better part of a decade.

One of my least favorite things in the world is when doctors chime in via the tabloids about what?s happening with a random celebrity that they?re not treating. This goes for psychiatrists, medical doctors, plastic surgeons, whoever. It?s cheap and I?m pretty sure most doctors could (and should) loose their license. But that?s not stopping them!
This latest case of a doctor getting all up on a celebrity?s grill is about Mariah Carey?s recent weight gain. We?ve been through Mariah?s weight drama before - she gains and looses weight more than Elizabeth Taylor in her hey-day. But this doctor, Dr. Harry Haramis (seriously), who does not treat Mariah, is pretty sure Mariah had liposuction on her abdomen. His proof? Mariah seems to have gained weight in her thighs and arms, but not her stomach:
While soaking up the sun in Cannes, France, in mid-May, Mariah Carey, 40, revealed a fuller figure. However, her arms and hips appeared to carry the brunt of the weight gain while her abs remained relatively flat.
Mariah hasn?t kept her battle of the bulge a secret. ?I?m really bad with the weight thing. I go up and down quickly,? she has said.
Although the star denies having surgery to lose weight, an insider believes that about six years ago, Mariah ?may have had lipo done to her midsection.?
Whie her rep denies that she?s had the procedure, Dr. Harry Haramis, medical director of Sleek MedSpa in New York, says it could explain why someone would appear larger in some places, but not others.
?If a person gains considerable weight after liposuction, the treated areas will not change appreciably,? says Dr. Haramis. ?The fat would go to remaining fat cells, with untreated areas getting the majority.?

I have a theory about this, actually. In most paparazzi pictures of Mariah, you can totally see that she knows the camera is there. I think she sees the camera and sucks in her gut, like any respectable woman would do. The problem is that in nearly all of Mariah?s ?candid? photos, we?ve now gotten used to seeing Mariah compulsively sucking in her gut. It?s warped us. I?d bet her abdomen has just as much proportional weight gain as her arms and thighs, but she looks disproportional because she has that small, petty gut-check vanity of most women. So, did she have surgery… or is she just sucking it in all of the time?
Note by Celebitchy: Last year some bikini candids of Mariah came out and her stomach was rippled in a way that would suggest she had lipo, so I would say it’s a definite possibility.

Mariah Carey's rep told us to be poised for a big announcement from her on Twitter Wednesday afternoon (May 20), and sure enough, it came:
"Bcuz I Love U, I want u to be the first to know the title of my new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. It's very personal & dedicated to u."
While Mariah's rep confirmed that the Tweet was legit, further details were not disclosed beyond the fact that the album is "coming soon."

The-Dream told KIIS-FM about some tracks he'd begun working on with the singer the week before. The-Dream and his frequent collaborator Tickey Stewart produced the hit "Touch My Body" from Mariah's last album, E=MC2
"I'm trying to do the whole [album]," The-Dream told the station's DJ Skee.
"I love her, she's everything," he said of Carey. "She's down, she's cool, she gets it. You think she's this big, but she gets it. She's all the way in there. I told her we need to get back in there. It's not like it used to be where you can wait to come out with an album. I'm like, 'Let's go, let's do it!' And she's up for it."
The-Dream said he wouldn't want to take Mariah too far from the style that's brough her so much success in the past.
"It's like we're trying to make a greatest hits without using the greatest hits," he said. He added that he thought the album would be called MC3, but apparently that plan has changed.
Carey has said in the past how much she enjoys collaborating with other songwriters like The-Dream.
"Sometimes it's perhaps a co-writer, which you can definitely feed off that other person's energy or where they're coming from, and go back and forth with different ideas," Carey said in a statement. "That's a process that really inspires me and that I really love."

Mariah Carey, whose diva behavior has been well documented, threw a fit when the director for her upcoming flick Precious, Lee Daniels, pulled a diva move on her. Daniels showed up almost an hour late at the premiere of his film at the Cannes Film Festival last Friday. Mariah was said to be bitter because Mariah is a big star and all Lee Daniels does is tell actors where to stand and how to say their lines. What an ass.
“Can you imagine Mariah Carey waiting for anyone?” wondered our incredulous source, adding, “Both Mariah and (co-star) Lenny Kravitz were pissed off. They thought it was disrespectful.”
When we reached out to Daniels for comment, he seemed a bit puzzled by any animosity on Carey’s part. “I was not late,” he insisted. “I believe you have been misinformed.” He hastened to add, “I had the best time of my life though.?
Translation: He was plastered. Which is really the only way to deal with someone like Mariah Carey. Hell if anyone is going to listen to Mimi drone on about her Hello Kitty collection and her “talented” husband Nick Cannon sober. Yea, that Nick Cannon over there that’s stuffing a tray of pigs in a blanket into his pockets.

They married on the sly last April in the Bahamas, but Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon certainly weren't shy about ringing in their first anniversary Thursday night in Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort.
Joined by 50 of their closest pals, including L.A. Reid, Tyrese Gibson and boxer Floyd Mayweather, according to USmagazine.com, the couple and their guests dined on surf 'n' turf, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, chocolate chip cookies and crme brle.
After dinner, partygoers hung out at the Moon Nightclub, where Cannon presented the video he made for Carey of the best moments they've spent together since marrying last year. "It's a very special occasion; toast to everyone," he said before showing the video. "This is the most amazing person in the world. I dedicate my life to her daily, and together, this union is gonna last forever. She is my rock."
According to People.com, the video brought Carey to tears, and she told the crowd, "I have the best man in the whole wide world."
The couple also had a pink-and-white, five-tiered Duncan Hines yellow cake and had 1,000 balloons drop during the festivities, which Cannon DJ'ed.
Back in March, Cannon laughed off rumors that he and Mariah were expecting their first child, but he did say that being married to her is "the most amazing thing ever. I couldn't wish for anything else."
