Promoting her album and new film, “Precious,” Mariah Carey lived up to her diva reputation while visiting with GMTV.
“I’ve heard a lot of rumors about her being a diva over the years and guess what? It turns out it’s all true!” claimed British TV host Kate Garraway.
“While Mariah was very nice, the amount of people she had in her entourage was hilarious. They outnumbered the entire ‘GMTV’ crew,” she continues.
Garraway added that along with her entourage was the job for them to make sure she looked perfect - such as needing two people to lower her on the morning show’s sofa so her dress would not crush. Also reported was that she brought her own toilet seat.
Carey has been surrounded by diva rumors and is always defending herself. “I am baffled, shocked and appalled when I am called a diva. I’ve never done a diva-ish thing in my life.” Carey’s rep called Garraway’s claims a “clear, gross exaggeration.”

More proof that Mariah Carey is an insufferable narcissist of the highest order: Britain’s GMTV host Kate Garraway revealed what a giant pain in the ass she was on set while prerecording an interview with Lorraine Kelly. Kate told the Daily Mail

She had two people to lower her on to the GMTV sofa, one person to walk in front of her backwards at all times in case she fell over and several people behind the camera making sure she was going to be filmed from the right angle!

So civilian toilet paper isn’t good enough for Mariah’s ass, huh? Well, I guess you’d want something a little finer than two-ply if you’re going to be keeping your head up there all the time. It kinda makes sense if you stop and think about it.

When Mariah Carey was in England last week, she gave an exclusive interview to GMTV, which is like England?s Good Morning America. Mariah did the interview with Kate Garraway, who in turn gave an interview to New Magazine about Mariah?s backstage diva antics. The Daily Mail has excerpts from Garraway?s interview, and this stuff is hilarious. Now, Mariah has denied that she?s a diva, over and over and over. And yet? she continues to show up late, demands snow-white kittens and doves, and she?s not able to walk on her own two feet, Mariah is wonderful about this stuff. The rumors persist. Probably because she?s a f-cking diva. Personally, I love her this way, just because it?s funny to imagine. Anyway, my favorite part is that Mariah can?t even sit down by herself - she needs two people to lower her onto a couch:
She insisted on bringing her own butterfly-shaped confetti to the X Factor and left the normally affable television host Phillip Schofield furious with her tardiness. And now presenter Kate Garraway has revealed more of Mariah Carey?s diva-style behaviour following the singer?s appearance on GMTV.
Miss Garraway, 42, said the star - the world?s best-selling female artist - stunned producers by having two people to lower her on to the famous GMTV sofa.
She said the singer also had an entourage watching to ensure she was being filmed at her best angle and brought her own toilet roll to the studios.
The blonde host, who has this month returned to work on the ITV breakfast programme after having her second child, son Billy, said: ‘We had Mariah Carey in the GMTV studios last week, where she was pre-recording an interview with Lorraine Kelly. I’ve heard a lot of rumours about her being a diva over the years and guess what? It turns out it’s all true!’

The presenter?s claims come after Miss Carey, 39, and her management made a host of demands to open Westfield shopping centre?s Christmas Wonderland last week. More than 14 million watched as the star performed her new single, I Want To Know What Love Is, on the X Factor on Sunday night.
Some viewers questioned whether Miss Carey, who had pre-recorded her performance, was singing live. However, an X Factor spokeswoman insisted that Miss Carey had sung live as well as using a backing track. The star recently claimed she is not a diva, despite admitting her dogs have their own entourage.
The singer said she had insisted on having assistants on hand for her Jack Russell pooches Cha Cha and JJ while filming a recent commercial, insisting: ‘My puppies are starring in this ad with me, too. I had my team with me but the pups had a mini entourage of their own, of course! And why wouldn’t they? It was a big shoot and even my entourage had an entourage - my stylist had an assistant, my security had extra security. The shoot was based on the fact that some people think I’m a demanding diva. I have no idea why people have that impression!’
The ‘Fantasy’ singer has previously admitted to feeling baffled by her ‘demanding’ reputation.
She said: ‘I am baffled, shocked and appalled when I am called a diva. I’ve never done one diva-ish thing in my life. The actual definition of a diva is a woman who sings well. The secondary definition is a woman who is difficult to deal with. I hope I am the first, but I really don’t think I am the second. I don’t believe I am truly nasty and act in a bad way.’
Miss Garraway was not in the studio at the same time as Miss Carey and her entourage. However a source close to the presenter said: ‘Kate got in shortly afterwards and the place was abuzz with what had happened. It was not so much Mariah, as she points out - but her entourage.’
Miss Carey?s spokeswoman called Miss Garraway?s claims are a ‘clear, gross exaggeration’. She said: ‘With regards to the “entourage”, every star of Mariah?s calibre is surrounded by a working team and Mariah doesn’t actually have any more people working with her than any other major star.’
The interview with Kate Garraway is printed in New! magazine, which is out today.

Maybe I?m getting jaded with Mariah?s diva antics, but I don?t think the toilet paper thing is that outrageous. Mariah obviously has a very sensitive and precious ass. She doesn?t want any crazy budget toilet paper touching her precious junk. I?d really love to know what kind of special-order, butterfly-shaped, gold leaf toilet paper Mariah brings with her. I?m honestly surprised no one has tried to sell Mariah some kind of special cashmere toilet paper? *thinking*? maybe that?s how I?ll get onto Mariah?s entourage!

I really do relish reading about all her ridiculous demands. It?s the stuff legends are made of. Today?s demands? When I turn on a mall?s Christmas lights, I traditionally demand 40 tigers and three flamingos. I like a nice 1980s Pink and yellow color scheme. Mariah is a little more classic with her all-white demands. To her credit, she did not demand that the kittens have their eyelids encrusted with Swarovski crystals nor their nails painted in alternating red and Pink hues. So I think it could have been a lot worse. Nonetheless, the kittens were a no-go. The final dove status remains unclear. Uptight British jerks.

Before health and safety stepped in, finding 20 pure white kittens was giving Miss Carey’s hosts a headache. The simplest way would be to hire them from one of Britain’s animal acting agencies. But it was thought impossible to provide so many at short notice. Pet shops have the same problem. One worker at a shop in South-West London said last night: ‘We could get you one but not 20. For starters, all-white kittens are not all that common in Britain.’

I really can?t argue with trying to get 20 kittens. If I were famous, my only diva demand would be to always be surrounded by oodles of tiny kittens. Of assorted varieties though. Someone is finally telling Mariah Carey no, and this time it’s Britain’s health and safety officials. They flat-out denied her request to be flanked by twenty white kittens and a hundred white doves when she illuminates the Westfield Shopping Center London next week. The Daily Mail says

Safety for the kittens, I presume. White kittens are roughly the same size and shape as a Hostess Snoball. Having them at arm’s length from Mariah Carey could really prove disastrous.

Mariah Carey has made a big deal about how she?s not really a diva and how the epic stories about her are ridiculous urban legends. Problem is, after she said that, she continued being a diva. Makes it a little hard to buy her hype. Mariah showed up an hour late for London?s ?This Morning? show. She once famously cancelled an appearance on a breakfast show claiming she?s ?not a morning person.? Ridiculous. And that ?argument? doesn?t even hold here, since Mariah?s appearance was being pre-taped in the afternoon.
He has a reputation as one of the most mild mannered presenters on television. But even Phillip Schofield lost his patience following an appearance by notorious diva Mariah Carey on This Morning. The singer had agreed to be interviewed and perform her new single on the morning chat show, but infuriated Schofield and his co-presenter Holly Willoughby by turning up an hour late. She was due to arrive at 1pm but crew were left waiting around while Miss Carey, 40, - who once cancelled an appearance on a breakfast radio show saying she was ‘not a morning person’ - made her way from her hotel.
She finally arrived at 2pm - but not before Schofield had posted a series of irate messages on his personal Twitter page, which currently has 300,000 followers. Thankfully the show was not being filmed live. It was pre-recorded on Monday afternoon and will go out next Thursday. But he wrote at 1.15pm: ‘Sitting here twiddling our thumbs waiting for Mariah Carey.. la la la laaa.’
Half an hour later he sarcastically wrote: ‘Her people have arrived!’ Although there was still no sign of Miss Carey. He added: ‘Think I will give her until two o’clock.’ But he was further angered when, after finally arriving at the studios she delayed proceedings further by changing her mind over what outfit to wear. A clearly frustrated Schofield then wrote: ‘She’s changing her mind about what she’s wearing!!!!!’
When the interview was over, the presenter then said that she had apologised for her behaviour. He messaged fans saying: ‘She was subtly apologetic for being an hour late and yes, an entourage the size of Denmark’.
However, there was one last hiccup before Carey left the building. Schofield, who had earlier taken a picture of the star to upload to his Twitter page, was told by her publicity team that Mariah wanted to approve the picture first and banned the shocked presenter from using it. He wrote: ‘Going to be a delay in the posting of the Mariah pic I’m afraid. Her people have asked for picture approval. Nicely predictable eh?’

It?s vintage Mariah. You?re supposed to be thrilled if she shows up at all. Honestly I could deal with the hour late, and would probably expect that of most celebrities. Especially with Mariah?s reputation. But the whole debating over the outfit at the last minute thing would really push me over the edge. And if she?s got an entourage the size of Denmark, you?d think someone could get it together enough to make sure she?s got the outfit figured out beforehand. I would bet you anything that even though it was 2 o?clock in the afternoon, this was still Mariah?s first activity of the day, which is probably why she was so late and disorganized. Perhaps seeing the play-by-play documented on Twitter will make her a little more mindful of why people call her a diva.
