An appeal will be heard in Madonna’s rejected bid to adopt three year-old Mercy James on May 4. Madonna is not expected to be present at the hearing in Malawi and her case is thought to be weak despite government support. The 50 year-old singer is single now and she also has to contend with objections from Mercy’s living grandmother and father. Mercy’s father has written a letter to the Human Rights Consultative Committee, the organization which appealed to the government to deny Madonna’s adoption, asking for a lawyer to help him claim custody of his daughter. What’s more is that Mercy’s dad has harsh words for Madonna and doesn’t want Mercy around that lifestyle, if you believe the quotes in the Daily Mail.
James Kambewa, 24, said he wanted to spare his three-year-old daughter Mercy a life of ’scandal’ with a woman he claimed lacks ‘good morals’.
Mr Kambewa, who has never met his daughter after walking out on her mother when she was pregnant, has written a letter to lawyers asking for a permanent injunction against Madonna adopting her.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail last night, Mr Kambewa, who earns just 23 a month as a security guard, insisted he would give his daughter a good home.
Mercy has been living in an orphanage since her mother died.
‘She is my daughter; she is my blood; she needs parental love,’ he said. ‘She is not an orphan. She lost one parent, yes, but I am still alive and so she is not an orphan.
‘Madonna has millions of dollars but that doesn’t make her a good mum. Parental love is more than money.’
He added: ‘Besides, I don’t think Madonna is a model mum. I have seen her in movies of her songs. She doesn’t portray good morals.
‘How can a woman of 50 dance almost naked on stage? I wouldn’t want my daughter to grow up like that! In Malawi women respect themselves. Cultured women do not go about half-naked.
‘I also heard after her marriage failed she is already seeing two men, both very younger than her and her ex-husband. I hear one of them is even less than half her age. That’s scandalous. How can a normal woman fall for a boy who can as well be her son? No, spare my Mercy that scandal.’
A court has already denied Madonna, 50, the chance to adopt Mercy, but she is said to be ‘ confident’ of overturning that ruling at an appeal next Monday.
She had hoped it would succeed on the basis she has the backing of Mercy’s immediate family, including her grandmother Lucy Chekichiwa and her uncle Peter Baneti. That, however, was before Mr Kambewa’s intervention.
He is enlisting the help the Human Rights Consultative Committee, a group of organisations which have campaigned against Madonna’s adoption bid.
In a hand-written letter to the HRCC legal team, headed ‘ Claiming the right to raise a child’, he said: ‘I have learnt that an American-musician called Madonna has applied to a court for the adoption of the kid, to which the grandmother has consented.

‘However, I do not consent to the adoption because I feel I am capable of raising the child.’
Mr Kambewa met Mercy’s mother Mwandida Maunde when she was 15. They fell in love and Mwandida became pregnant.
But Mr Kambewa denied responsibility for the child and disappeared. He has pledged to take a DNA test to prove he is the father.
‘I regret I haven’t been around for Mercy for the past three years,’ he said. ‘She shouldn’t have been at the orphanage if I was around.
‘I regret my childishness. I hope the appeal fails so that I assume my rightful role as Mercy’s dad.’
The HRCC confirmed it had received his letter and will decide whether to appoint a lawyer for him.

Many people are going to say “Sure this guy wants to claim his daughter now. Where was he for three years?” According to an earlier story we covered, James had to flee his village out of disgrace when he got Mercy’s mom, then 15, pregnant. That’s not an excuse for not contacting his daughter in that time but we have no idea what his life was like or how difficult it must be to live in that kind of poverty. If he wants to care for his daughter he has every right to. Hopefully he’s earnest about it and really does want to give her a loving home. Mercy’s grandmother has also publicly spoken out about the adoption and she may have changed her stance but I think the Daily Mail is incorrect here when they say she supports it. Lucy Chekechiwa told the press that she wants her granddaughter Mercy to return home to live with her once she reaches the age of six, which is when she’s expected to have developed immunity to malaria and other childhood diseases.

Madonna and Jesus are closer than ever, according to Page Six. This, after the couple broke up right before Madonna headed off to Malawi to attempt to adopt Mercy James. When the adoption fell through, Madonna fell back into the arms of Jesus Luz - with perhaps a pit stop into Guy Ritchie?s arms. Some sources even claim that Madonna and Jesus have been inseparable since Madonna fell off a horse in the Hamptons, then blamed the fall on the paparazzi.

Here’s a real shocker for you: Madonna’s unquenchable narcissism and obsession with working out makes her a less-than-ideal mother! Astounding, I know. According to Madonna’s former chef and house manager Eric Ienco, her children are lucky if they get to see her Madgesty for more than a half hour a day. He told the National Enquirer
“It’s a puzzle she wants to adopt again. She’s hardly ever with her children. She’s got two full-time nannies and one part-time nanny. So why adopt a kid if somebody else is raising them?
[Her day is rigidly planned --] she gets up and has a coffee, then she does two hours of yoga. Then there’s two hours of Pilates and exercise. That’s six days a week.
After that, she deals with her e-mail, her calls and the rest of her business. And after that, she spends maybe half an hour with the kids. If Lourdes comes in and says, ‘I want to see Mom,’ she is told, ‘She’s doing yoga’ - and Lourdes knows she can’t disturb Mom.
Madonna puts herself before her kids. When she adopted little David, he arrived at her home from Africa - and three hours later, she left to do Pilates. Wouldn’t you think she’d want to spend the entire day with her new son?”

Madonna fell off a horse while riding in the Hamptons on Saturday, and issued a statement claiming that her horse “was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes.” She suffered only minor injuries and was seen at a local hospital and released. The 50 year-old singer was photographed on the beach the next day and seems to be fine now.
There was only one guy photographing Madonna the day she fell, and he swears that he left before Madonna’s accident because he wasn’t getting good shots of her. The photographer told TMZ that he took off well before Madonna fell, and then returned when he heard that ambulances were called to the scene. He said “”If I had startled the horse, I would have gotten pictures!”
The paparazzi aren’t known for their trustworthiness, and many were willing to believe Madonna’s account that this guy spooked her horse even though he denies it. The only problem is that local police say that no one from Madonna’s side mentioned the paparazzi at all and that it’s not on their report of the incident:
The 50-year-old pop star was asked how she was doing after a night recuperating at pal Gwyneth Paltrow’s estate.
“Better,” she replied.
Madonna’s camp claims her prior encounter with a photographer didn’t go quite so nicely.
Spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg claimed her superstar client was thrown when a photog jumped out of a patch of bushes and startled her horse, sending her flying.
But freelance photographer Thomas Hinton claims he played no role in Madonna’s mishap - a position supported by the Southampton Village Police Department.
Sgt. Herbert Johnson pointed out to TMZ.com Monday that no one mentioned a shutterbug in the police report about the incident. “There is no mention of photographers,” he said. “It’s a matter of spin control that went out of control. If they felt there was something else, they would have written ‘paparazzi’ in the form - if they felt there was a problem.”
Hinton told The News he shot some frames of Madonna riding her horse about 3:50 p.m. Saturday, but took off soon after because he didn’t have a good vantage point.
Hinton returned more than 40 minutes later when he got tipped off that Madonna had had an accident, he says.
“I arrived more than 10 minutes after she fell, and I was shooting from the street,” Hinton said. “I don’t know what [Rosenberg] is talking about.”
Madonna, who was born in Bay City, Mich., and once worked at a Dunkin’ Donuts, has taken pains to reinvent herself as a high-class jodhpur-wearing British countrywoman.
After buying Ashcombe, a 1,200-acre estate in Wiltshire, she had an indoor riding arena built there.
Following a rib-cracking fall in 2005, she got back in the saddle and stepped up her lessons.
Friends say ex-husband Guy Ritchie’s lack of support after that accident was one of the many issues responsible for their eventual split.
Madonna’s recent decision to relocate to New York hasn’t dampened her enthusiasm for becoming an accomplished equestrian.
Last month, she entered a horse competition in Florida under a pseudonym, according to sources. Some suspect she may be reluctant to admit she again lost control of the reins, preferring to blame the paparazzi.

It figures that the woman who depends on the paparazzi to drum up interest in her career, revived by sheer will power, stunt dating, and hours of pilates a day, would blame them when something goes wrong. After Vadge got dropped on her roidy ass (which probably killed a whole colony of ants living down below) by a really hot horse, she blamed the whole thing on a paparazzo. Vadge's spokeswhore said that a pap jumped out of the bushes, freaking the horse out and causing Baby Jesus' pimp to hit the ground. The pap said Vadge and her slaves were telling major major lies. According to his ass, he was only around before and after the fall, but not during. He said that if he was around, he would've gotten pictures of her flying off her high horse. And those pictures would've immediately been hung over my bed, so that I could go to bed and wake up with a smile on my mug.
The cops who took Vadge's statement are apparently sliding up to the pap's side. Sgt. Herbert Johnson of the Southampton Police Department told TMZ, "There is no mention of photographers. Why does Vadge gotta lie like that? She has no reason to be embarrassed. Everyone already knows that most living things don't want her riding their backs. I mean, her tarantula crotch can pinch through the toughest saddle, so that horse looked up to the sky, said a prayer and tossed the cuntrag. It tried to make it work.

Madonna was hospitalized briefly on Saturday after taking a spill while riding a horse at the South Hampton, New York, home of photographer Steven Klein.
The 50-year-old singer was taken to a hospital after the fall, treated for suffering minor injuries and bruises before being released, according to spokesperson Liz Rosenberg.
"The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend," Rosenberg said in a statement to UsMagazine.com. "Madonna will be having further tests and will continue to remain under observation by doctors.'
But the photographer who is being blamed for allegedly causing the incident, Thomas Hinton, told TMZ that while he was the only paparazzo around when Madonna tumbled off her horse, he had nothing to do with the incident. Hinton claimed to have taken shots of Madonna before and after she fell but said he has no pics of the actual accident because he walked away after shooting the pictures of her riding the horse. He said that 30 minutes later he got a tip about an ambulance being sent out to for a 50-year-old woman. Figuring it was Madonna, he returned to take pictures of her being tended to by the emergency workers.
Hinton told TMZ that all his pictures were taken from a public road and that the only other photographer around was the home's owner, Klein. "If I had startled the horse, I would have gotten pictures!," Hinton said.
The New York Post has what it calls the exclusive Hinton pictures, which show Madonna on the horse and then images of her being attended to by emergency personnel, but none of the accident itself. The paper claims that Madonna was hurt while taking the horse through a jumping routine.
In 2005, Madonna cracked three ribs and broke her hand and a collar bone in a riding accident at her estate outside of London.

I bust Madonna’s balls a lot. But you know, I think she’s had a tough time lately. The divorce, the bad plastic surgery, A-Rod, the man arms, the denied adoption, and the fact that Lourdes is way more of a trendsetter than she ever was- without even trying. And now, this.

Most of the time, I have no sympathy for Madonna - she seems like a self absorbed person with absolutely zero self awareness. It must be hard to be that vain and full of yourself, and then lose your looks. But being Madonna doesn’t always seem like an easy job. This would be a good example of one of those times. Paparazzi hiding in the bushes on your property, causing a potentially serious accident, doesn’t seem like a lot of fun to me- but it’s an everyday occurrence for celebrities like Madonna. Those photographers are very lucky one of Madonna’s children wasn’t involved. I can’t even imagine what could have happened to a less experienced rider. I think maybe Madonna’s had enough bad luck these days.
Note by Celebitchy: The paparazzo alleged to have caused the accident denies that he was there when it happened. He said he snapped photos before the accident occurred, then he left and returned to the scene when he heard an ambulance was there:
We spoke with the photog who tells us he shot Madonna before and after she fell — but was not there for the actual fall. He tells us he took pics of her riding and then left. About 30 minutes later, he says he got a tip about an ambulance being sent out for a 50-year-old woman — so he put two and two together and went back to snap pics of her being tended to.
He says all his photos were taken from a public road and the only other photog around was Stephen Klein — the famous photographer whose house Madonna was at.
As Hinton put it, “If I had startled the horse, I would have gotten pictures!”

Vadge was galloping through Steven Klein's South Hampton, NY estate on a horse yesterday when the paps jumped out of the bushes to get a picture of the two. Obviously, the horse didn't want to be photographed with Vadge on his back, so he threw her ass off!
Vadge got fucked up just a bit and had to be shuttled off to a nearby hospital. Lucky for her ass, Vadge was wearing a helmet and riding gear at the time. Vadge's spokesbitch said the hospital released her after treating her for minor injuries bruises. She will be fine.
Her spokesbitch issued this statement: "The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend. Madonna will be having further tests and will continue to remain under observation by doctors."
This isn't Vadge's first time at the "Dropped By A Horse Rodeo," back in 2005 she broke a ton of ole' bones after falling off a horse in England. Damn that Osteoporosis!
So, basically, horseys don't like Vadge very much. Maybe she should start riding something a little closer to the ground. Giant bunny rabbits? Elderly Mastiffs? Morbidly obese pigs? Naw, none of those animals would appreciate a giant roid wart on their back. Vadge should play it safe from now on and stick to riding Baby Jesuses.

Madonna fell off her horse again today in the Hamptons and was taken to the hospital. According to the NY Post she blames the paparazzi for this fall off of the horse unlike the one that happened on her birthday 3 years ago. Also unlike the first accident where she broke her collarbone, this time “she suffered only minor injuries and bruises but will have further tests and will remain under doctor’s observations, her spokeswoman said.”
At this point the paparazzi photos and/or video has yet to surface, but hopefully we see her fall soon.

Madonna’s ex chef is blabbing in the latest issue of the National Enquirer that it’s a good thing the 50 year-old pop star was denied her initial bid to adopt three year-old Mercy James. Eric Ienco used to work as Madonna’s chef and house manager and he says that she always puts herself and her schedule before her children and spends about a half an hour a day with them, tops. Adding credence to this guy’s claims is the fact that he’s willing to go public with his name and photo in the Enquirer.
Madonna’s children are lucky if they get to spend a half hour a day with the superstar, charges Eric Ienco, her former house manager and cook.
The performer’s kids are largely raised by nannies while she pursues her career, Ienco told The Enquirer.
“That’s why it’s a puzzle she wants to adopt again.
“She’s hardly ever with her children. She’s got two full-time nannies and one part-time nanny. So why adopt a kid if somebody else is raising them?”…
The 50-year-old entertainer has her day rigidly planned - and her children are not a big part of it, according to Ienco.

Ienco also confirms the story that we’ve heard about how Madonna’s bid to adopt Mercy put a strain on her relationship with then-husband, Guy Ritchie, saying “Guy was dead against adopting, so for their marriage, it was the final nail in the coffin.”
I have mixed feelings about this story. For one, was this guy at Madonna’s house at night and did he witness whether she spent time with the kids after her work day was through? The way they tell this story about her schedule makes it sound as if she works a regular 8 hour day from home and doesn’t want to be disturbed. That’s understandable, she just exercises 1/2 the time. I work from home and while I let my son come and talk to me if he happens to be home with his babysitter I may ask that they go out to play so that I can have some time to write. It doesn’t make me a bad mom, I’m just trying to do my job during the day.
The story about Madonna going to pilates on David’s first day home is true, because I covered that story when the photos came out. It really surprised me that she would head out to the gym that day and even let herself be photographed instead of staying home with her new son. I guess we know where her priorities are. Does she spend time with her kids at night though or is that half hour all she has to spare all day?
