I?m seriously starting to wonder if the stylists and editors over at Harper?s Bazaar have something of a Grace Kelly fetish. They got their hands on yet another blonde cover girl - this time Katherine Heigl - and made her look very Grace Kelly-ish. They did the same thing with Gwyneth Paltrow for her Harper?s photo shoot. Well, Goopy?s was Grace Kelly-meets-Lady-of-the-manor. For Heigl, they just gave her some dogs to play with. Just as well, Heigl loves dogs. She has six dogs! She also loves her daughter, Naliegh, and Heigl talks a lot about Naleigh in the interview (full piece here):
On rescuing puppies: She heads to an outdoor deck, leaving Naleigh to watch The Backyardigans with her husband, singer Josh Kelley, and Mojo, one of their six dogs. For the moment, the rest of the pack is at the park, so the house is relatively quiet. When Katherine found Mojo on the set of 27 Dresses, Josh told her no more dogs. “I started crying,” says Katherine, who everyone calls Katie. “I said, ‘Where’s your heart? Where’s your soul? I’m supposed to be marrying you, and you don’t know who I am by now,’ and he’s like, ‘Fine, just take the dog. Jesus.’”
On Naleigh?s medical condition: Though Naleigh has been described in the press as special-needs, she was actually born with a congenital heart problem that was fixed via open-heart surgery before she left Korea. “Her heart is 100 percent fine now. She has a scar, so she won’t be wearing bikinis, which is fine by us,” Katherine explains, unembarrassed by her overprotectiveness. “A lot of children don’t find forever homes because they’re on that special-needs list, even if it’s because of something as simple as her mother smoked cigarettes for a month, not knowing she was pregnant. That’s not so huge that you couldn’t handle it.”
On working with babies in her new film Life as We Know It: “It was crazy, because as my character was learning how to take care of a one-year-old, I was too. But as I was working with these gorgeous little triplets who play my child, I was feeling bad that I was spending more time with them than with my own kid. And that broke my heart.”
Spending three months solid with her husband Josh Kelley, the most time they?ve spent together all the way through: “There were a good few weeks when I almost smothered him with his pillow,” she says. But that’s marriage, she adds: “two people with totally different lives and totally different experiences just trying to fit.”
On the diva criticisms, or why she?s a loud-mouth: “I spent so many years just saying what I felt without thinking about the ramifications, without understanding that I have this opinion but not everyone might share that opinion and now they don’t like me because of it. That was really awkward. I hate it when people say this, but I’m a people pleaser. I was really raised with the idea that it’s important to be honest and to share your experiences, both disappointing and exhilarating. But sometimes I think the American public just wants to see my life as good fortune. They don’t want to know about the day-to-day. It ruins the fantasy. It’s lame to say that I’m a normal girl, but I think I am.”
On competing with other celebrity moms: She also finds it a challenge to keep up with the fashions of fellow celebrities’ daughters, like Suri Cruise or Zahara Jolie-Pitt. “Dude, I try, but I’m not nailing the baby fashion. It’s intimidating. I get beautiful outfits from Gap and baby Juicy, but I’m not layering it or putting her in Prada flats. It’s really stressing me out.” She also doesn’t want her daughter to grow up to be a spoiled rich kid. “I want her privilege to afford her to seek many different things that might fulfill her. I don’t want her to have a Beemer on her 16th birthday or spend the summer at a beach house with friends. Nope. You want a beach house, you pay for it.”
On Hollywood: “High school on steroids.” She and Kelley are considering a move to Nashville so he can be closer to his country-music career.
Dreams for Naleigh: Perhaps Naleigh will become “a Korean country-music star. That’d be sick,” she laughs. “I know she’s going to get pushed into music.”
On her relationship with her mom: “The relationship I have with my mother is rare, and I know for some people it looks like I’m a real mama’s girl. I never cut the apron strings, but that’s one thing I will never deny. It has saved me.”
Ashton Kutcher? “looks so hot with his shirt off.?
Plans for the future: “Now it’s time to reevaluate and grow up. I hope by my mid-30s, I get to the point where I don’t doubt myself. I’m going to make mistakes and say stupid things, but I won’t have to sit in a room in the dark and wonder, ‘Am I a bad person?’ It will be ‘Okay, Katie, enough with the drama.’”

Eh. I really do have moments when I actually like her, like when she talking about her dogs or her baby. I think that part of her is genuine. But I also think she is a self-absorbed, narcissistic, loud-mouthed, unprofessional, shoot-herself-in-the-foot diva. And it?s not just ?saying stupid things?. Megan Fox says stupid things. Megan Fox is a f-cking idiot. Katherine Heigl is not. The things she?s said aren?t dumb, they?re unprofessional, rude and contradict this ?I?m just a normal girl, I?m accessible? image that she?s selling.

Gearing up for an outbound flight, Katherine Heigl was spotted being dropped off at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday afternoon (May 18).
Calmly walking past awaiting paparazzi, the "27 Dresses" darling proceeded into the entrance before disappearing past the security checkpoint.
The sighting comes just as it has been announced that Miss Heigl has signed on to star in upcoming drama "The Age of Adaline".
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katherine "will play the title role in the epic love story which centers on a young woman who finds she is unable to die after an accident. She later meets a man for whom she decides to give up her immortality."
To be produced by Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel, filming is planned to get underway in October.

Making the most of the sunny springtime weather, Katherine Heigl was spotted spending time with her mom in Los Feliz, California on Thursday (May 6).
All styled up for the ladies' outing, the "27 Dresses" actress and her mother headed for lunch at a local restaurant as they caught up on each others doings.
The sighting comes just after it was reported that Miss Heigl was a recent hero - as she saved an abused pit bull with its legs tied together in a muddy field in Bakersfield last month.
The owner has since been arrested and faces possible charges while the pooch was given a new home via the help of The Heigl Foundation.
Always looking to help four-legged friends, Katherine is partnering up with the Last Chance For Animals to punish those who mistreat their pets by offering rewards to anyone willing to come forward with information on animal abusers.

Looking ahead to what?s next, Katherine Heigl was spotted leaving a meeting at Lakeshore Entertainment in Beverly Hills yesterday (May 3).
The former ?Grey?s Anatomy? gal carried a cake case and a large white envelope as she ignored the nearby shutterbugs and made her way to her car.
Katherine recently explained that having her daughter Naleigh in her life has given her new perspective on film projects.
?Watching any film or television that deals with a mother and child story is so gut-wrenching in a way I could have never predicted. You have this empathy suddenly, this compassion for a mother going through anything difficult or complicated with a child because suddenly I understand that unbelievable drive and instinct to protect. Protect, make them happy, shelter them, give them everything they need in life to be happy. That was a weird feeling. I was like, ?That?s a lot of pressure.??

Getting in some quality girl time, Katherine Heigl and her daughter Naleigh were spotted out shopping with the "27 Dresses" actress' mother Nancy Heigl in Malibu on Friday (April 30).
The happy family made their way over to Cross Creek to check out the latest offerings in the world of retail clothing.
Meanwhile, Miss Heigl continues to rack up roles since departing "Grey's Anatomy," as she has just been cast to play the lead role in the film adaptation of "One for the Money".
Based on the Janet Evanovich novel of the same name, Katherine will play "a 30-year-old woman who works for her cousin's bail bond company. She eventually becomes involved with a huge case that deals with a policeman who is wanted for murder."

Treating herself to a relaxing afternoon, Katherine Heigl was spotted out and about in Los Feliz, California yesterday (April 27).
The ?27 Dresses? babe was joined by her mother Nancy as she hit up Fancy Nails for a manicure/pedicure pampering appointment.
Katherine and Nancy also hit up Trattoria Farfalla in Los Angeles for some delicious lunch and plenty of catching up on life.
As for her hubby Josh Kelley?s parenting skills, Heigl gushed, ?He?s spectacular. I couldn?t have even imagined a better father for [our daughter Naleigh]. She?s the luckiest little kid. We call him Disneyland Dad because as soon as he comes in, it?s fun and happiness and rides around the room on his shoulders. He?s attentive and involved. I never for a minute would question leaving her.?

Excuse me for a second? hahahahaha! Oh my GOD. I swear, Katherine Heigl must have a damn screw loose in that ?brain? of hers. This is Katherine at the ASPCA Ball in New York last, posing at times with designer Isaac Mizrahi. God, I hope Isaac didn?t design this dress. It doesn?t look like his style, but it could be. How do you even describe the style of this pinstriped, high-necked monstrosity? LaineyGossip calls it ?Polygamy Couture. She?s wife #4.? Can we finally call this one guys? Katherine Heigl has no style. On a good day, she dresses too old (and like her mother dressed her) and on a bad day, we get this. While on the red carpet, Dame Heigl deigned to speak to Entertainment Tonight (via HuffPo):
Katherine Heigl was in New York Thursday night to be honored by the ASPCA and was talking about new daughter Naleigh, whom she and husband Josh adopted from Korea in September.
Heigl recently left ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ to focus on motherhood, and told ET that daughter Naleigh is blooming.
“Life is great, it’s really family oriented right now which feels fantastic, and feels as it should be. She’s still so new, Naleigh’s still so new in our lives… They change every month so monumentally that every month she’s a new kid. She just started walking this weekend, she started talking more last month, and if I were missing that right now, I would just be devastated.”
Heigl, along with her mother, founded Heigl’s Hounds of Hope to honor her brother Jason and help save dogs from kill shelters. Jason died when he was 15 and loved animals.

Sure, great cause. And maybe she?s not as terrible as she once was. But the styling! It?s like no one can win with her. If it?s not her attitude, it?s her crappy fashion sense. New theory: she?s probably horrible to her stylist, and that why he/she dressed her in this. Why that theory doesn?t pan out: because you know she thinks she looks awesome. This is her real fashion sense!

She?s always up for a good cause, and last night (April 15) Katherine Heigl was in the house for the 13th Annual ASPCA Bergh Ball.
The ?Grey?s Anatomy? hottie looked lovely as she arrived at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, sporting a sleeveless ivory dress and a pulled-back hairdo.
In a recent interview, Katherine revealed that she?s not keen on dying her hair for film roles and would rather just wear a wig instead.
"I did it about a month ago... I'm supposed to have dark hair (for One for the Money) and recently discovered the beauty and the wonder of a really well-done wig.?
"I did have to go back to blonde for poster shoots for a film I have coming out this summer (Killers), and the wigs are so fantastic I thought from now on I should just wear wigs. It takes half the time.?

Spending time on the east coast, Katherine Heigl was spotted out and about in New York City on Thursday morning (April 15).
Still sporting her brunette hairdo, the 31-year-old actress smiled as she took a moment to sign some autographs for awaiting fans as she made her way into her posh Big Apple hotel.
And while Miss Heigl has cut ties with her former show "Grey's Anatomy," you can catch her on the big screen not long from now when her movie "Killers" hits theaters on June 4th.
Directed by Robert Luketic, the comedic thriller is about "a vacationing woman who meets her ideal man, leading to a swift marriage. Back at home, however, their idyllic life is upset when they discover their neighbors could be assassins who have been contracted to kill the couple."

In next week’s Entertainment Weekly, Katherine Heigl gets pretty real about her ongoing image problems, her disagreements with her now former employers at “Grey’s Anatomy,” and the reasons she is walking away. The EW reporter didn’t pull any punches with Heigl, who just this week announced that she’s leaving the ABC drama for good.
EW: Let’s talk about some of the statements you’ve made publicly. In 2008, after the show’s fourth season, you announced that you decided not to enter yourself in the Emmy race because “I did not feel I was given the material this season to warrant a nomination.” Any regrets about making that statement?
KH: [Laughs] Yes.
EW: Why?
KH: You know…[Exhales] At the time I thought I was doing the right thing. And I wanted to be clear that I wasn’t snubbing the Emmys. The night I won [in 2007] was the highlight of my career. I was just afraid that if I said, “No comment,” it was going to come off like I couldn’t be bothered to [enter the race]. But really, I could have more gracefully said that without going into a private work matter. It was between me and the writers, and I ambushed them, and it wasn’t very nice or fair.
EW: Why didn’t you talk to them privately?
KH: Everybody has bad days. [Laughs] I was a little defensive about my season because I thought I hadn’t had a great one. And a lot of that had to do with me and my performances.
EW: Did you apologize to Shonda [Rimes, creator, head writer, and executive producer of Grey's Anatomy]?
KH: Yeah. [Laughs] I went into her office and I was just like, “Look, that was obnoxious. I apologize.” And she was actually really supportive. She was like, “I get it. I totally get it. I know you didn’t mean it like that.”
EW: You stoked controversy again last July when you went on Letterman and complained about having just worked a 17-hour day at Grey’s. Another regret?
KH: Yes. That was not the time or place to gripe about work. And when I watched it back, I was really embarrassed about how whiny I sounded. And I said it not once, but, like, three times. I was really annoyed with myself after that one. That’s when I realized, “Okay, look, Katie–” talking to myself like I sometimes do –”It’s okay to be passionate. It’s okay to have an opinion. But filter.”
EW: It was my understanding that the reason the 17-hour day was necessary was because you were about to take three days off to do press in New York - Letterman included - for The Ugly Truth.
KH: If that is true, I really wish [the producers] had warned me. It wasn’t like, “Hey, if we let you do this, this is what’s going to happen.” Had I known that, I would not have asked for those three days off. I would have forgone the talk shows. I asked the entire crew- without really understanding that I was asking this - to work a 17-hour day. And for them it’s much worse than just 17 hours. They get there an hour before us and they leave an hour after us. And they all have families they want to get home to.
EW: All of these public statements, combined with the fact that you’re leaving the show before your contract is up, have fostered a perception of you as an ungrateful diva. Are you aware that this is how some people view you?
KH: Yes. [Gets quiet] The ungrateful thing bothers me the most. And that is my fault. I allowed myself to be perceived that way because I was being whiny and I was griping and because I made these snarky comments. So much about living life, to me, is about humility and gratitude. And I’ve tried very hard to have those qualities and be that person and I’m just so disappointed in myself that I allowed it to slip. Of course, of course I’m grateful. How could I not be grateful? I have been afforded such a wonderful life. And to have come this far and to have this kind of success and the freedom and the choices it allows me…The fact that I could even have Naleigh in my life- adoption isn’t cheap - is something to be so unbelievably grateful for. I am disappointed in myself for allowing that perception to exist. There’s nothing more gross than the idea of somebody in my position being ungrateful. And I hope that in the coming years I can change people’s minds about that.

Heigl also said in the interview that she has had some trouble bonding with her new daughter Naleigh, and her work schedule was getting in the way of making that situation better. “It was really hard because she loved Josh [her husband] and she just kind of tolerated me,” she said. It will be interesting to see if Heigl’s work schedule slows down any now that she’s off the show. It doesn’t appear that way, though: she’s currently in production on two movies and is rumored to be considering the role of Stephanie Plum, the snarky bounty hunter from Janet Evanovich’s best selling series of mystery novels. I think it’s about time that Heigl apologizes for some of the things she has said over the years, but I wonder if we really will see a different, more humble person in the future. I guess we’ll have to see.
