Ewan Mcgregor covers the January issue of Nylon Guys to promote the upcoming Steven Soderberg-directed action flick, Haywire, in which Gina Carano will kick the crap out of Ewan’s ass along with many others. The interview spans several pages and many topics including Ewan’s passion for motorcycles, bagpipes, and Lay’s potato chips. He also loves VW vans and took the journalist on a little joyride and picnic during their talk. Clearly, his female co-stars are very fond of him, which only really means that he’s not an on-set douche. And as Kaiser has noted before, the rumors of his on-set dalliances could be just rumors. Or not. Maybe he does really have an open marriage? Ewan’s been married to his wife, Eve Mavrakis (with whom he recently adopted a fourth child), for sixteen years, yet he was spotted spotted last year hand in hand with Melanie Laurent. This interview might provide a little more insight into Eve and Ewan’s relationship, particularly within the last excerpt:
Emily Blunt on Ewan: “Ewan and his toys! He has so many toys. The bikes and the Minis and the cars and the vans. Any time he can get a new toy, he will. It’s sort of this very endearing obsession that he has.” What was he into on set? “He bought tome bagpipes! I love that he was driving you around in his camper van. if it was anyone else than Ewan it might come across as a proposition, but because it’s Ewan…”
Gina Carano on Ewan: “He’s just such a natural, beautiful person. It was really cool when we were [shooting] in Barcelona, I had been so used to working with some of the other actors, but Ewan’s presence is so natural, it’s almost intimidating. And he’s not a prima donna — he doesn’t require special treatment. Every time I think of Ewan, a big smile comes to my face because I’m just happy to know that somebody like that exists in the world.”
On His Casual Style: “I think people are so narrow-minded about a lot of things, especially fashion on the red carpet, that if you’re a man and you’re not wearing a suit and tie, then you didn’t really dress up. I like to find things that are different. I don’t want to look like everybody else necessarily, because I don’t really feel like everybody else.”
On the British Film Industry: “I don’t feel any need to support it. I was always work in British stories because I am British and I’m drawn to them, but I don’t feel any special desire or need to make a British film every year because there were years when they didn’t support me, you know? We struggled like f–k to get Young Adam made, and we had me and Tilda Swinton and an amazing script and a talented young director. At that point I thought, I’ve spent my whole life working in Britain and rejecting American films… That’s when I realized we’re on our own. What really annoys me is during Oscar season, everyone gets really wrapped in that itle. Then it’s on the front pages; BRITS CLEAN UP AT THE OSCARS! And for one night we get really supportive of the British, but in actual fact, it’s more of a ‘stick it to the Americans’ sort of thing. It’s such hypocrisy; I find it so distasteful. I also don’t live there anymore, so I have no right to talk about it, really.”
On His Home Life: McGregor lives with his wife of 16 years (Eve Mavrakis, a production designer) and their four daughters, in a 1920s Spanish-style house in Brentood, where they relocated three years ago from London. The idea of being perceived as a family man, however, seems to grate on him. “My wife is my best friend, she’s the person I discuss everything with, so of course she’s hugely a part of my experience,” he says, taking a swig of Diet Coke. “But I wouldn’t like to read that my family has to be grounding me. I hate people writing things like that. Because at the same time, my work is still quite heady and wonderful and weird… I don’t live my life for my family, but we live our lives together.”

The entire interview is quite lengthy and at times quite dull, but of course I’m fixated on the “I don’t live my life for my family, but we live our lives together” quote. What does that even mean? That Ewan and his wife do their own things (including sexual things) yet always come home to each other? Perhaps I’m reading too much into those words, but it just seems like an odd sentiment for a “family man” to express in a print publication, but maybe that was the point of the whole exercise.
Now about this photoshoot — Ewan looks dashingly handsome as always, but he’d look even more fetching if those boots were paired with a kilt.

I was drawn in to these UK premiere photos just because I love both Eva Green and Ewan Mcgregor. I don?t expect you to enjoy these photos as much as I do, but for the love of God, please comment on this post if you?d like me to write more about Eva and Ewan and less about the Kardashians.
Eva and Ewan are just so beautiful to me - Eva, much like Helena Bonham Carter, hides her classic beauty behind profoundly odd styles and makeup choices. Ewan is just pretty, traditionally handsome, with some edge. And they?re made a movie together called Perfect Sense. It?s a love story. They make love on film, together. And weird stuff happens, because it?s a love story mixed with sci-fi. The basic plot is: ?A chef and a scientist fall in love as an epidemic begins to rob people of their sensory perceptions.? Ewan is the chef, Eva is the scientist. Here?s the trailer:
Eva?s voiceover is meh - it still would have been haunting and erotic without the voiceover. All I really need to see is Eva and Ewan kissing, and his hand grazing her boob. And is it just me, or does this film look kind of interesting? Like? I?m not sure about the story, but Eva and Ewan look deliciously overwrought here, and I?ll probably watch it just to see them act opposite each other.
So? the premiere photos. Eva always wears these kinds of dresses, and her makeup is always overdone, so my only complaint is about the shoes. They suck, and it looks like she?s about to lose her balance. Ewan just looks gorgeous, though. Sigh? aren?t they better than Kardashians?

Ewan Mcgregor just announced in an interview that he and his wife Eve Mavrakis have adopted a daughter, a four-month old whose name has not yet been made public. Ewan is now the father of FOUR girls! His oldest, at 15, is Clara Mathilde, then Esther Rose is 9, and then he and Eve adopted Jamiyan, who is also 9, from Mongolia in 2006. Apparently, Ewan confirmed the adoption weeks ago, but I guess no one bothered to read the interview?? He told the NY Post, ?My wife and four girls - 15, two nine year olds and a baby of four months - often come with me if it’s a holiday or my locations and their schedules allow. Sometimes we uproot them and put them in another school.” Wow.
Ewan Mcgregor has let slip that he and wife Eve Mavrakis have adopted a baby girl. The 40-year-old actor revealed the news while promoting his movie Beginners in Los Angeles earlier this month. The little girl, who will be the fourth child for Ewan and Eve, was born in March and is just four months old.
However, Ewan has not revealed any other details about the baby, such as her name and nationality. The baby is the second adopted child for Ewan and his wife, who adopted daughter Jamiyan from Mongolia five years ago. The couple are also parents to daughters Clara, 15, and nine-year-old Esther.
Ewan made the revelation when he spoke to the New York Post about his new movie. Discussing how his family always comes first, Ewan said: ‘My wife and four girls - 15, two nine-year-olds and a baby of four months - often come with me if it’s a holiday or my locations and their schedules allow. Sometimes we uproot them and put them in another school.’
Ewan is notoriously private about his family life, but said in a recent interview that he will always try and spend as much time as possible with his children.
He said: ‘I recognize it can be boring to play with young children - to tell a story over and over again, let?s say - but the secret is being there. If you?ve made a decision to play with your children, then play with them. Don?t be looking through papers on your desk or sneaking off to the computer. Turn off your BlackBerry. Lose yourself in their world. Even if you do it for a short time, it will mean a lot to you and to them.’

People say that Ewan and Eve have an ?open marriage? whenever there?s a rumor about Ewan with one of his reading ladies - we had photo evidence of Ewan and Melanie Laurent, and I remember rumors about Ewan and Michelle Williams back before Heath Ledger died too. But? I?ve never heard anything about Eve enjoying her side of an ?open marriage? and they keep adopting those girls. His theory is that his costars always stay around the same age, and now that he?s about to turn 40 years old (on March 31), he doesn?t want to be the smarmy older actor who is always strutting his Scottish dong around the film set. So? it seems like his reasoning is feministic, and yet I feel like his old reasoning - that he was getting naked ?for the sisters? - was more feminist. But, hey, that?s just me. I love Scottish dong.

McGregor has been obliged to take part in a string of sex scenes during his movie career, romping with co-stars including Scarlett Johansson, Eva Green and Naomi Watts.
Now the Scot says he doesn?t want to follow the example of other leading Hollywood men, who have continued to be seen romancing significantly younger women on film, despite advancing years.
?I?m getting older and the actresses stay younger,? he acknowledges. ?I don?t want to become Clint Eastwood, where his love interests seem 50 years younger than him. You never want female co-stars to feel like you?re taking advantage of the situation. Anyhow, sex scenes are terribly exposing and rarely of any use in learning about character.?
Despite his new self-imposed nude ban Ewan, who is married with three children, does not regret stripping off in such films as Trainspotting and Velvet Goldmine.
?It?s all about life,? says McGregor. ?We?re naked at the end of the day and we?re sometimes naked in the middle of the day ? if we?re lucky. It may seem like I?m obsessed with sex but it?s actually the opposite.?
His latest film assignment opposite a leading lady is proving rather more bruising than previous encounters, it seems. Ewan stars alongside 28-year-old Gina Carano in the thriller Haywire ? and his character was recently photographed taking a sound beating from the American Gladiator star during a scene filmed on Malibu beach.

Back in 2008, Jim Carrey and Ewan Mcgregor made a film called I Love You Phillip Morris, all about two men who fall in love in prison. It?s supposed to be a comedy-drama, and it never sounded like the some kind of super-Oscar bait, nor like a crowd-pleasing mindless popcorn film. But it?s didn?t really sound bad, either. So it?s slightly surprising to me that it?s taken until now to get a release date - it was in distribution purgatory after concerns were raised over the raunchiness of some of the (gay) sex scenes between Ewan and Jim. Also surprising - Jim and Ewan are both standing by this project, and they both really seem to like each other. Strange bedfellows?
Anyway, the film comes out this Friday, in limited release. Jim Carrey sat down with Parade Magazine to promote the release, at long last- although it sounds a lot like past interviews. Jim has said the line about kissing Ewan before:
Jim Carrey takes it to the limit and beyond in the very R-rated I Love You Phillip Morris, loosely based on the life of convicted Texas con man and four-time prison escapee Steven Russell. He ends up having a mad affair behind bars with another prisoner played by Ewan Mcgregor.
Carrey tells Parade’s Jeanne Wolf what attracted him to the most off-beat role of his career and his long-term goal of helping to make the world a better place.
It’s all about love.
“There are very few scripts that I would come across that I would pay to do and this was one of them. I didn’t mind taking a big salary cut. I’m here to do extreme and interesting things. I liked the guy I played and I hated him. But the one thing that always stayed with me was the idea that he was relentless about love, and all of us understand that. I’m a desperate man myself.”
As for locking lips with Ewan Mcgregor, who plays his lover.
“A dream come true. I mean, look at the guy. I have to say, he is a great kisser. As Ewan said, ‘When you’re kissing another guy it can get a little prickly.’ Actually, you had to put out of your mind your own sexual preference and just try to understand that you were loving another person who just happens to be a guy. It wasn’t about male or female, love is love.”
What he had in common with his character.
“He had blind faith in himself. I have that. I have that belief that I can do probably more than I’m qualified to do. The guy I play definitely has no limits. The things he was able to finagle his way into are just shocking and amazing. You can’t help admire that quality in people. That’s why we love con artist movies.”
What’s driving him?
“There’s always some sort of deep undercurrent running under things for me. I’ve had peaks of kind of enlightenment where I felt like, ‘Oh, wow. I’ve got to figure it out. This is it. OK. I have peace. I have bliss.’ And, then, boom, off the wave into the surf, and you’re struggling again. I definitely have those scared to death moments, but they’re what make you interesting.”,
And who needs an agent when you have the man upstairs.
“What’s important to me is the long haul. It’s a strange thing, but sometimes I think that God is somehow fashioning my life so that I do stay interested and stay hungry.”

Beyond the stuff about the film, how does Jim sound to you? I still worry about him. I worry that he?s not taking his meds, and that his ?peaks of enlightenment? are some kind of manic-depressive high. That being said, Jim sounds like he?s in a pretty good place right now, so God bless. I hope someone goes to see this film. Apparently, Ewan goes down on Jim on camera.

My love affair with Ewan Mcgregor has been going on for years and years. Of course, I always based my love of Ewan on the idea that he was different from other men - the naughty-boy vibe combined with the genuinely evolved feminist. The guy who adores women, who treats you with respect, but still wants to spank you. Ewan is so that guy. But things changed for me a little when I saw the photos of a very married Ewan walking hand-in-hand, arm-in-arm with Melanie Laurent. Maybe it?s none of my business (it?s not), maybe his wife Eve knows (maybe), or maybe Ewan was never the guy I thought he was.
Here?s the thing though - this new interview with Ewan in the March issue of Out Magazine has made me love him all over again! Ewan is not just doing the lip-service ?I?m a friend to the ghey? boilerplate political speech. He?s promoting I Love You Phillip Morris, and Ewan is giving Out readers what they really want - he?s talks about how much he likes to get naked, what it?s like getting naked all the time, and what it was like to kiss Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Swoon! The article starts off with a charming anecdote about Ewan?s ?sand-colored poodle mutt? named Sydney. Who knew? The full Out piece is here, and here are some highlights:
On getting naked: ?I always try not to limit myself in all respects. Sexuality is just one of them. I could understand saying ?I would never do gratuitous nudity.? Wait. No. I probably would. I?d probably be quite happy to.?
On I Love You Phillip Morris: ?At Sundance everyone assumed it would be snapped up,? says McGregor, ?but it wasn?t.? Perhaps one reason is that the central character is an unlovable (or uneasily loved) sociopathic scammer. But a more likely reason is that in cells, on bunks, on boats, before sunsets, after sunsets, on divans, over ottomans, without panning away or dissolving to white, the two men kiss, fondle, f-ck, blow, suck, hold hands, dance, murmur, and eye. In short, they act like lovers do, and, because both Morris and Russell are openly gay men and their gayness seems not to trouble them in the slightest, this is a dicey commercial proposition. ?There was talk,? says McGregor, ?that Disney fended off the release until after A Christmas Carol came out. They didn?t want kids thinking [Carrey?s] Ebenezer Scrooge was a bender.?
About that fellatio scene: When it appears on American screens, I Love You Phillip Morris will be, to some extent, down-gayed. (Or perhaps it?s ungayed, degayed, or less-gayed.) As part of a bid to find U.S. distribution, the film has been recut, leaving out some of the gayest moments. After a rather touching episode of Florida Key fellatio, for example, Morris spits over the side of the boat into the Atlantic Ocean. ?There were two alternatives,? explains McGregor. ?There was the spit, and there was a really nice slow swallow, where I look at him and just do a loud swallow. I really like that one, but I guess they went for the more obvious spit over the side.?
Seriously, it?s a gay movie: ?I?m very keen that it?s a gay movie,? McGregor insists. ?There was quite a lot of talk at Sundance that ?Well, it?s not a gay movie. It?s a film about guys who happen to be gay.? And I was thinking, it?s nothing but a gay movie. It?s about a gay couple, about a man?s sexuality, and he comes out. It?s not the point of the film, but let?s not pretend it?s not a gay film.?
Ewan on his first bisexual character: ?The first bisexual character I played was in [1996?s] The Pillow Book. There?s tons of sex in that film. We didn?t even bother putting clothes on between scenes. I had quite a full-on sex scene with a 75-year-old Japanese guy,? he recalls. ?We?re kissing, and I remember going, He?s got a mustache and that?s kind of weird. Oh! That?s definitely a scrotum. That?s odd.?
What Out Mag deems ?the most satisfying gay kiss ever committed to film? between Ewan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Velvet Goldmine: ?I remember when I kissed Johnny,? says McGregor. ?It was just a rush at the end of the day. It was just an electrical moment, because you look around and some of the British electrician guys — who are all mainly closeted homosexuals, I think — were sitting around going ?F-ck, no.? But I like kissing boys on screen. As a straight guy, it?s quite an interesting proposition. Anything on a film set that takes you by surprise like that, that gets your blood up, is good.?
Ewan prefers his artsy films: ?When it gets to the top end, they?re really reluctant to step out of any box, which is why the movies become very bland. When people come up to talk about a movie like Velvet Goldmine, it?s much more interesting than talking about, for instance, Angels & Demons.?
Ewan doesn?t judge: ?I?m always interested in playing different people, in different situations. It doesn?t matter to me whether someone is in love with a man or a woman. I find the idea of love and romance interesting. I?m a sucker for it. I like playing someone who?s falling in love because I like the sensation of it.? He pauses to give Syd an affectionate pat. ?People do extraordinary things when they?re falling in love.?

Sigh? yes, I love him. He?s dirty and Scottish and sexy and crazy and lovely. At this point, I can?t even care that he?s screwing around on his wife. I just wish it was with me. George Clooney is in Venice, promoting the premiere of Men Who Stare At Goats, also starring the gorgeous man-candy that is Ewan Mcgregor. The two did a photo call earlier today, and they both looked lovely. Ewan was wearing Chuck Taylors. Clooney was wearing Armani. Classic. After the photo call came the first press conference, and Clooney got some questions about his love life. He made a ?joke? about how he?s preparing to get married? to Goats director Grant Heslov. You?re not helping, Clooney.
Sorry, ladies, George Clooney says he’s getting hitched, and it isn’t to you.
At a press conference for the Venice premiere of his latest movie, Men Who Stare at Goats, Hollywood’s perpetual bachelor, 48, says that special person is … Goats director Grant Heslov.
“Grant and I are actually announcing our wedding while we are here,” Clooney joked Tuesday. “I don’t quite know how to answer that question, but I can read your mind again and I know what you’re thinking.”
Goats, which also stars Ewan Mcgregor, is a comedy about the CIA’s program for researching psychic powers. Clooney has been publicly seen on the arm of Italian TV presenter Elisabetta Canalis, and arrived with her at the Venice Film Festival Monday.
But that knowledge didn’t stop a male reporter from stripping down to his boxer shorts and a necktie and blurting out to the star: “I’m gay, George. I want you, George! Come with me, George!”
Sometimes people take “a big chance,” Clooney responded, smiling. “Only it doesn’t really work.”

I know a lot of people think George Clooney is totally gay. I get it, and I understand the case being made. Here?s the thing - I don?t agree. I?m pretty sure George is just a guy who likes his women dumb, young, lacking in ambition, beautiful, built and kinky. I don?t think George will ever look at a woman and see a partner, an equal, a friend. He will only see a broad who is or is not kinky, who is or is not worth his seduction time and effort. All that being said, George should ease up on the gay wedding jokes, because there are a lot of people who don?t think they?re jokes. Besides that, what is so inherently funny about gay people getting married? It doesn?t even work on the ?joke? level.
