In October 2017 we learned of Ewan Mcgregor?s open affair with his Fargo costar Mary Elizabeth Winstead. I tend to believe that they fell in love months earlier, and by October, he had likely already left his wife Eve Mavrakis. Ewan ended up filing for divorce in January 2018, and Eve made a rare public statement, basically calling it his choice and his call to divorce her. In the divorce filing, he said he and Eve had been separated since May 2017 too, probably exactly when his affair with Mary Elizabeth began. My vibe was that Eve was used to Ewan?s little on-set affairs because he always came back to her. Then he fell for Mary Elizabeth and wanted out of his marriage. Their kids got involved too, with Clara McGregor (their 20-something daughter) publicly referring to Mary Elizabeth as a ?piece of trash? who broke up the family.
In the fall of 2018, there was some beef between Ewan and Eve about child support and spousal support. Basically Eve was accusing Ewan of nitpicking her over how much he was giving her as she raised their three under-18 daughters (at the time) while he gallivanted around with his midlife crisis jumpoff. That story died very quickly though, so I suspect Ewan paid up and they continued to hash out their divorce. Well now, two and half years after he filed, they?ve completed the divorce. And Eve is getting HALF.
Ewan Mcgregor and his ex-wife Eve Mavrakis have finalized their divorce. In a judgement documents obtained by PEOPLE, McGregor, 49, and Mavrakis divorce was finalized on Thursday with a judge appointing both of them joint legal and physical custody of their youngest child, daughter Anouk, 9. The two have agreed to continue to have a flexible custodial schedule to accommodate their daughters schedule, according to the documents.
The Star Wars actor will also be responsible for paying Mavrakis, 54, $14,934 per month in child support, as well as a trust fund set up for their daughters educational expenses. McGregor will also pay Mavrakis $35,868 per month in spousal support.
The two have also split their assets, although any earned income from films or TV series McGregor has starred in the past ? such as Fargo, the Star Wars prequels, the Trainspotting films, Big Fish, Moulin Rouge, Emma and Now You See It, among others ? are considered community property and all residuals and royalties will be split with Mavrakis.
While films McGregor has made after their listed separation date of May 2017 are considered his own separate property, his 2018 film Christopher Robin, for which he earned $3,000,000 is considered community property. The two have four daughters together: Clara, 24, Jamyan, 19, Esther, 18, and Anouk.

He probably would have had to pay more in child support if Jamyan and Esther were under-18 by the time the divorce was completed. And the reason everything pre-separation was community property is because years ago, they moved to California permanently and CA is a community property state. And it?s A LOT because Eve and Ewan were married for 22 years. Yeah, she got half. And then half of the future royalties from anything he did pre-separation. TMZ says she gets to keep their $6.62 million LA home, plus jewelry and five of their cars. Ewan got to keep thirty of his cars and motorcycles. What a massively expensive affair.

I used to love Ewan Mcgregor. I used to be hot for him, and I used to think he was genuinely cool. How quickly things can change ever since he left his wife of 22 years for his much-younger costar, all I see now is that Ewan is such a middle-aged cliche. It sucks. His daughters are torn up about it too, so it?s not like this was some high-minded conscious uncoupling. He ripped his family apart to get with a younger woman.
But it?s standard at this point that if you?re a white guy who once beloved but now finds yourself in a bad-press storm, all you need to do is make a family film. Ewan stars in Disney?s Christopher Robin, where he plays the adult Christopher Robin who grew up with Pooh Bear and Piglet and then needs to hang with them again in adulthood. I mean? kids will enjoy this. It was a smart move for Ewan as well, to make a quality family film for Disney. Anything to make people forget that his own family is in shambles, I suppose.

I understand the concept and the reality of open marriages, and God knows, it?s none of my business. But I can?t help thinking ?why even get married if you?re just going to have an open marriage?? And say you do get married and you quickly fall into that kind of bohemian, love-the-one-you?re-with, both-spouses-getting-some-on-the-side open marriage. Say it works out and you are that rare success story for open marriages. Then why in the world would you leave your wife for a younger costar? Let me guess – you fell in love with her, your younger costar? And eventually you?ll want to marry her and have an open marriage with her too. That?s what I don?t get: why even bother with the paperwork?
Anyway, we learned last fall that Ewan Mcgregor left his wife of 22 years, Eve Mavrakis. He left her for his Fargo costar, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. When Ewan won his Golden Globe, he thanked them both and maybe we?re supposed to believe that everyone is being mature and bohemian and everything is fine. So why even bother to file for divorce, as Ewan just did?
Ewan Mcgregor has filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years. Ewan cites irreconcilable differences as the reason he wants to end his marriage to Eve Mavrakis. McGregor, repped by attorney Fahi Takesh Hallin, wants joint custody of the couple’s 3 minor children. Eve, whose lawyer — disso queen Laura Wasser — filed her answer at the same time, is asking for sole physical custody with visitation going to Ewan.
McGregor says in the docs he’s willing to pay spousal support. As for property … our sources say there is no prenup so the assets should be evenly divided. The date of separation is listed as May 28th of last year.
News of Ewan and Eve’s split hit in October … with reports saying the two had separated as early as May. The announcement came shortly after pics surfaced of Ewan kissing his “Fargo” co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, at a London cafe.

Eve is generally pretty quiet – she?s not one of those celebrity-wives who fashions a secondary career out of being married to someone famous. She doesn?t give interviews, is what I?m saying. So it?s odd to me that Eve released a statement after the divorce filing, saying: ?It?s disappointing and upsetting but my main concern is our four children are OK.? Says so much with so little. She?s basically telling us that this is his call, that he left her, and that this is what HE wants. More evidence: Ewan and Eve?s teenage daughter Esther is singing sad songs about betrayal about and to her father. Basically, Eve and the kids don?t get why he suddenly had enough of the marriage and family life. It all just feels like? a midlife crisis, right? He?s 46 years old. He already has a bunch of motorcycles, so he couldn?t scratch the midlife crisis itch that way. So he did this.

The third season of Fargo premiered last week. It feels like there wasn?t a lot of fanfare about it, which is weird because the first two seasons of Fargo were easily some of the highest-quality programming I?ve ever seen. This season is set in 2010 (unlike last season?s ?70s-flavor) and Ewan Mcgregor stars in dual roles, as two brothers on opposite sides of the success ladder. This season also stars Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and David Thewlis. I watched the first episode and it was outstanding and perfectly ?Coen Brothers,? even though Noah Hawley is the guy in charge of the TV show. Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone a chance to chat about Ewan and how great he already is in these roles (honk if you love Ewan and/or Fargo!). He chatted with the LA Times recently about doing the show and his physical transformation for both characters:
The Minnesota accent: ?It?s the hardest accent I?ve ever had to do. It?s full of so many different things. It can sound like you?re just doing the worst accent in the world at times to your own ear.?
Playing these two characters: ?Even though it?s set in 2010, there?s a lot of now in it. You have Ray, who can be a complete jerk at work, but he?s got heart and soul and he?s in love and just needs a financial boost. And there?s Emmit, who?s just devoted his life to making money. He’s got the heart and soul of a capitalist, of a businessman ? in this Trumpian era, that was interesting to play. Emmit has very thin skin and he lashes out at people when it?s his fault. I?ve had all this Trump stuff to watch while playing him. I?ve got to try to find something positive about this … situation.?
He hadn?t even seen the first two seasons when he was approached for the job. He hadn?t seen the show because he thought ?it was a terrible idea to make a TV series based on a movie.? But while on a ski trip he bumped into one of the show?s producers who mentioned they were casting for the role of the brothers. ?I watched both seasons and thought, he?s done it, [Noah] managed to capture the essence of that movie without using the same characters, without using the same story line. And when I met with him, and he told me the story line for Season 3, I was intrigued. It?s like an ancient fable, an old tale.?
Gaining weight to play Ray: ?Noah just looked at me and said, ?Ewan, you?re going to have to put on some weight, mate. We?re talking about two guys who live in the Midwest,?? McGregor recalls of a pre-production dinner with Hawley last fall. It came as a bit of a blow to the actor, who was at his ?peak physical fitness? after wrapping production on ?Trainspotting 2? ? with a regimen that included running for about two hours a day. ?I just couldn’t believe the timing of it. It was like, I?ve been waiting my whole career for someone to say ?get fat.? But not now. Not while I?ve just become super fit.? Naturally, that night at dinner, he ordered dessert. ?And then from October to January, I just ate and ate and ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. I had a lot of burgers. A lot of burgers. And fries. I had fries with everything.?
He wore Spanx to play the thinner brother: He had a ?Spanx technician? ? a role assumed by Devora Brown. “Spanx are no joke. I couldn?t do it without Devora. I couldn’t get that ? thing over my head if she wasn?t standing there. It?s a two-person job. I will say, I rather like them. I had to fly to London or something to do press for ?Trainspotting? and I was walking through the airport and there was an actual Spanx store. I had no idea they had actual shops! So I stopped someone and asked them to take a photograph of me outside the store. I think I?m going to try to do their next campaign ad. Maybe I can capitalize on this somehow.?

While I don?t think Ewan is completely nailing the Minnesota accent – especially compared to Martin Freeman, who must have an excellent ear for accent work – he is achieving something strangely brilliant with these dual roles. Like, he got me completely absorbed in the lives of these two brothers because he really has created two completely different characters with different mannerisms and everything. It?s amazing. As for the Spanx? I enjoyed that image, the idea of Ewan being put into a full-body girdle by a costume-assistant type.

Ewan Mcgregor arrived in New York ahead of the Stella Blizzard (or whatever we?re calling it) so he could promote Trainspotting 2 and Beauty and the Beast (he does voice work in the later). Ewan looked hot at the New York premiere of Beauty on Monday night, and then he got up bright and early on Tuesday morning for his junket. The problem? Stella had descended on New York and I guess none of the journalists came to Ewan?s junket. So he Instagrammed these hilarious photos:

Piers Morgan is a bloviating jackass. I tried to stop covering him last year, although some Piers-stories ended up creeping into my coverage just because he?s such an incessant troll, not to mention a racist and a misogynist. Piers decided to mock the very idea of the Women?s March over the weekend, making trollish tweets about how he is planning a Men?s March (EVERY DAY IS A MEN?S MARCH) to ?protest the creeping global emasculation of my gender by rabid feminists.? He got ripped apart online, which is what he wanted. But today, Ewan Mcgregor was supposed to appear on Good Morning Britain (the show Piers co-hosts) and Ewan refused to do the interview because of Piers? comments.
First of all, no, we don?t need to ?debate.? I?m a feminist and I?m not going to ?debate? with a knuckle-dragging misogynist because that sets up the false perspective that both sides are ?equal,? or both sides are making valid points. Women?s rights are not a debate. A woman?s agency over her body and her life are not part of some point-counterpoint discussion. Which is probably how Ewan felt, judging from this tweet-exchange with Piers.

I hate to admit this, but I never saw Episodes II or III of the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace was so terrible, I never bothered with the rest. So I have no idea if Ewan Mcgregor should really be ashamed of his involvement with those three films. Ewan played the young Obi-Wan Kenobi and while Ewan has always been complimentary towards his time spent in the franchise, it also feels like he sometimes wishes he had been doing other other projects. Anyway, while Ewan was at Sundance a few days ago, he commented on the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He had some nerdy things to say about the now-controversial lightsaber seen in the trailer ? that?s the lightsaber with two little lightsabers at the hilt.
NERD FIGHT!! Ewan says: ?I was a bit dubious about the hilt on the lightsaber. If you know how to handle a lightsaber, like we did, you don’t need a hilt. That’s just one thing I think they might have got wrong.? But he also says that ?the trailer looks very good. It looks like they’ve kept the right spirit.?
So what do you think? Does the former Jedi know what he?s talking about? Here?s the thing: I?m guessing that the nerds making these new Star Wars movies know what they?re doing. Their loyalties are towards George Lucas? original vision, and the Episodes IV-VI. My guess is that only a select few (bad guys, probably) have the ?hilted? lightsabers.

As I said in that Joshua Jackson post, I?m going through Cumberbatch Withdrawal Syndrome. So I need more hot guys to ease my pain. Luckily, Ewan Mcgregor stepped out last night in London. He hosted a UNICEF Halloween Ball/fundraiser, although he did not wear a costume. Unless this black suit is some kind of Shag Costume. IS IT?! Anyway, Ewan looks really hot. He?s not giving me Cumberfeelings at the moment, but I can still appreciate some good-looking SCOTTISH THUNDER, especially when he?s so clean-shaven and handsome.
In other McGregor news, it?s just been announced that Ewan will be make his Broadway debut very soon. He?s going to star in a revival of Tom Stoppard?s The Real Thing, a role that won Jeremy Irons a Tony Award in the 1980s.
I?m also including photos of Hugh Grant, who was at the UNICEF Ball in ?costume? ? Hugh just wore a nice suit and a fruity mask. It was kind of cute.

HOT. SO HOT. Yesterday we had some new photos of Ewan Mcgregor, but I didn?t post them because I got busy. So I?m glad I have the opportunity to talk about them today because HOT HOT HOT. On Tuesday, Ewan was in Geneva, Switzerland for the ?IWC Schaffhausen Race Night Event during the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2013 at Palexpo.? I only understood a third of those words. I?m also including photos from last night of Ewan arriving at LAX ? I guess he?s come into town for this weekend?s Screen Actors Guild Awards? Perhaps.
So, what can I say about Ewan?s hotness? This man is aging like a fine wine. He?s gorgeous. I think he might even be sexier now than he was in his 20s. He?s 41 years old, by the way ? so how does he looks so young? Does he just have one of those ?perpetually 33? faces? I think his beard is helping a lot! I know a lot of you prefer clean-shaven men, or men who keep their scruff to a minimum, but Ewan + Beard = One of the greatest forever dongs ever. Imagine that beard on your thighs and get back to me.
In other Ewan news, he?s just signed on to do a film adaptation of John Le Carre?s Our Kind of Traitor, which is about: “An English couple who get mixed up with a Russian businessman who turns out to be an oligarch, and one of the world’s biggest money launderers. They get caught up in his plans to defect and are soon positioned between the Russian Mafia and the British Secret Service, neither of whom they can trust.? Most people assume Ewan will be playing the dude in the English couple. I like when Le Carre?s books are made into films ? they adapt well, and they adapt while still remaining smart, so this sounds good.
PS? I love the way he wears clothes. He wears the crap out of EVERYTHING.
