Well, well. It looks like someone’s Oscar campaign has taken a turn for the interesting (as opposed to Anne Hathaway judiciously parcelling out details on her grueling Les Mis diet). Just kidding, really. I like Anne, and if she doesn’t win Best Actress this year, she’ll probably get it at some point in the future. I get it though — Anne’s been nominated before, and she must feel like it’s time to not only get nominated but also win. For what it’s worth, I think she did a fantastic job playing against her good-girl type in Rachel Getting Married even if the movie itself was slightly underwhelming. Her time will come.
Who I was speaking of in terms of shaking things up is, of course, Ewan Mcgregor, who has already received support from Angelina Jolie, and has been campaigning hard for his very first nomation for The Impossible. For whatever reason (and who really needs one?), Ewan has decided to assure the moviegoing public (as well as the Academy) that he has no plans to stop getting his kit off when the role requires it. Good news, right? Now take off that kilt, Ewan:
Ewan Mcgregor tops just about every list going of actors who don’t shy away from flashing the flesh for the odd naked scene.
So when The Impossible star sat down (fully clothed, alas) with CBS Sunday Morning this week, it was only a matter of time before the topic of conversation turned to the Scot’s renowned penchant for stripping down on camera.
And good news for fans of the erstwhile trou-dropper: The 41-year-old has no plans for cutting back when it comes to showing off his nude form.
Clearly, the man takes his craft seriously.
“Being naked is something that happens in either end of the day for me, and if you’re lucky, somewhere in the middle as well,” he says on the show, airing this weekend. “And I don’t understand why it’s an issue. I don’t take my clothes off in movies because I want to flash my body around. I took my clothes off for movies because I’m an actor.”
And one who wants to show every, well, intimate aspect of a character. Even those rather exposing sides that other actors may shy away from. (Not Ewan, though, as evidenced by his frequently full-front*l body of work on display in Velvet Goldmine, Young Adam, The Ghost Writer, The Pillow Book, Trainspotting and…we’re probably forgetting one or two.)
“I believe the movies that I make say something about the world and therefore they should reflect human instincts and natures and desires,” he went on. “A big part of that for us is our sexual life and romantic life.”
The man is an artiste.

While it’s nice that Ewan would like to assure us that he is not truly an exhibitionist, I do find it interesting that he often gravitates towards roles that require nudity. He’s very kind like that, isn’t he? At a certain point though, it will be time for Ewan to stop flashing the goods on camera. Let’s say age 60 or so. That leaves 19 years or so for Ewan to fulfill his destiny. Give this man an Oscar already.

He?s always up to something fun, and last night (November 4) Ewan Mcgregor showed up at the 2012 AFI Fest in Hollywood, California.
The ?Moulin Rouge? hunk was in the house to premiere his new flick ?The Impossible,? along with director Juan Antonio.
In a recent interview, Ewan sang the praises of his ?Impossible? costar Naomi Watts- ?There?s something very straightforward with Naomi.?
?She doesn?t play any games. From eight minutes into it she?s injured and in shock, and stays that way. I?ve seen it two and half times, and I still wonder how she managed to weave such variety and shade into something that could have been a one-note performance ? fright and pain.?

Last week we discussed Ewan Mcgregor?s GQ Style pictorial, in which he spent the entire photo shoot fondling some delicate flowers. It was pretty awesome, although the cover shot sucked. Ewan is doing the publicity rounds these days because he?s promoting the limited release of The Impossible. We discussed the trailer last week too ? the film is a true story about a European family caught in the 2004 tsunami in Asia, and the trailer made all of us cry, so I?m not going to include it again. Or should I? I?ll put at the end of the post, but just know that you will cry like a baby.
Anyway, these are photos of Ewan at last night?s AFI Fest premiere/screening of The Impossible. Obviously, the man is HOT HOT HOT. I love his beard. I love his hair. I love his eyes. I love his dirty smile. I love the fit on his pants. I love his Henley. I love his sport coat. I love the way he stands. I love the way he stares down the cameras, making love to them with his eyes. I love him. He?s so beautiful.

Ewan Mcgregor covers the newest issue of GQ Men?s Style or GQ Style or whatever this is. I can?t say I?m in love with the cover image, but I do like the rest of the pictorial. I think we?re supposed to look at Ewan with those flowers as some kind of romantic hero, a lovely lad who will wait patiently and bring you flowers and be respectful. But the way Ewan is inappropriately touching and stroking the petals of the flowers IN EVERY PHOTO is making me think dirty thoughts. Ewan knows how to rile a lady up, doesn?t he? This is not a respectful, patient gentleman. This is a dude who will bang you senseless in a gazebo. Surrounded by innocent flower! Flowers that think you’re kind of slutty.
Okay, now I have to show you the trailer for Ewan?s newest movie called The Impossible. It comes out in America in limited release in December, possibly so it could be an awards contender. I went into watching this trailer knowing only that it was about a family vacationing in Asia in 2004 when the tsunami struck. I ended up balls-out crying within one minute of the trailer. So? just prepare yourselves. Get a tissue ready. The film also stars Naomi Watts and three extraordinary-looking young actors. OMG.

In March, I covered the LA premiere of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, that cute looking film starring Ewan Mcgregor as a salmon-fishing expert and Emily Blunt as some kind of PR maven. The premise looks interesting, and it?s on my ?definitely rent? list. These are photos from last night?s London premiere.
Let?s discuss Ewan Mcgregor first. Okay, I love the man. He?s gorgeous and sexy and he can wear the hell out of nearly any outfit. That being said, I hate his mid-life crisis hoop earring. And I?m getting tired of his scarves. We get it, Ewan. You love a man-scarf. ENOUGH. And while I?m speaking directly to you, Ewan, please stop with the fancy lift sneakers. We know you?re kind of short. We would still hit it, even if you?re wee. Just own your height without getting all Tom Cruise on us.
As for Emily, she wore this odd Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 cocktail dress. I?m including a photo of Emily from behind, just because I want you to see the funky front-to-back effect of the cropped jacket. Is that the way it?s meant to be worn? Or did Emily put the jacket on backwards? As for the ribbony stripes – pretty. I?m pretty apathetic towards horizontal stripes, but the muted navy-and-black palette works and it?s a sophisticated look, backwards jacket included. I feel like Emily is unsure about what to do with her hair, right? Right.

Joining forces on the red carpet once more, Emily Blunt and Ewan Mcgregor were side-by-side at a New York City screening of "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" on Thursday night (March 8).
The good-looking co-stars were accompanied by screenwriter Simon Beaufoy, with the trio posing for pictures inside the Crosby Street Hotel venue while garnering a little last-minute press ahead of tomorrow's release of their motion picture.
As for the Lasse Hallstrm directed movie, "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" is the tale of "a fisheries expert who's approached by a consultant to help realize a sheik's vision of bringing the sport of fly-fishing to the desert before embarking on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible possible."
Of joining the cast of the film, Miss Blunt told USA Today that her spirited character of Harriet pulled her in, as she said, "There was a buoyancy to her, a tenacity and warmth."
She seemed very British to me and very familiar. I'm quite like her, I suppose," the 29-year-old added. "Everything about the film didn't feel derivative of something else I'd seen or done. I do strive to find projects that are trying to carve out some new space. I enjoy projects that leap away from the crowd a little bit."

It was either this or a story about Kim Kardashian?s abs. Which I still might do, you know. It?s really dead around here this morning. So why not cover these beautiful photos of Ewan Mcgregor? Right? These are pics of Ewan?s appearance at a Q&A session at the Rafael Film Center in San Francisco, California. He?s promoting his new film, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. If you?d like to read more about his appearance, go here. I just want to talk about how attractive he is. I mean? come on. Ewan is the best. Ewan is – to me – like the Scottish Jeff Bridges. He?s a workhorse actor who takes varied roles in films of varied quality, and throughout his career, there are this little gems of performances. Ewan is always the best part of whatever film he?s in.
When Christopher Plummer won his Best Supporting Actor Oscar on Sunday, I really wished that Ewan was in the audience. Plummer gave him a shout-out in his speech – Ewan played his son in the film Beginners, and it seems like Plummer and McGregor really grew to adore each other in the making of that film. Which brings me back to why the Oscars sucked so hard this year? producers ALWAYS forget that the Oscars audience is made up of a majority of women and gay dudes. We want to see actresses in gowns, and we want hot guys. All of the presenters should have been high-profile (but not necessarily high-quality) actresses and really attractive men. Ewan should have been asked to present. As should Jon Hamm. And Blake Lively. And Julia Roberts. And Daniel Craig. And Michael Fassbender. And why not Demian Bichir? He’s hot. Bringing in Tom Cruise to finish off the night – well, I understand that MI4 did well. So invite him, but don?t have him finish. But bring in an all-star hot guy or lady to finish off the night. Bring in Robert Redford. Bring in Lauren Bacall.
Basically, I want more Ewan Mcgregor ALL the time. Especially at awards shows.

Dressed up and looking fine, Ewan Mcgregor attended the annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 15).
Joined by his lovely wife, Eve Mavrakis, the Scottish actor hit the buzzing red carpet jsut before heading inside The Beverly Hilton Hotel to tend to his presenter duties.
During a quick interview on the carpet, McGregor opened up about his ?Beginners? co-star, Christopher Plummer, who ended up taking home the Golden Globe for best supporting actor.
When asked about Plummer, Ewan told, ?I?ll be so delighted if he does win."
"He?s a very wonderful man and my fingers are crossed for him,? the 40-year-old added before disappearing inside.

Exuding his Scottish charm, Ewan Mcgregor had all the ladies swooning as he strolled up to the People's Choice Awards tonight (January 11) in Los Angeles.
The ?Moulin Rouge? man flashed his dashing smile and rugged good looks for the delight of fans and paparazzi alike as he posed at the Nokia Theatre.
Meanwhile, top nominees this year include Katy Perry with seven (1 in Movies, 1 in Television and 5 in Music), along with the hit FOX show "Glee" at seven and the movie "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ? Part 2" garnering nine bids for PCA glory.
With the People's Choice Awards being the only major awards show voted on entirely by the public for fan favorites in music, movies and television, the ceremony is being hosted by Kaley Cuoco with performances by Demi Lovato and Faith Hill.

Yay! Ewan Mcgregor has a new interview and photo shoot in the new issue of GQ. Ewan is promoting several films, not least of which is Beginners, which has a surprising amount of critical acclaim and buzz. Beginners has even won some big critics awards, and it?s thought that Christopher Plummer is a shoo-in for an Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination, if not the actual award. But you know what else Ewan is promoting? HAYWIRE!!!! That film with the one and only Michael Fassbender. At the premiere, I would like to see Ewan and Fassy holding each other in a deep embrace. I would like to see Irish on Scotsman, in whatever stage of dress they want. Sigh?anyhoodles, Ewan?s full GQ interview is here, and his (rather beautiful and sassy) slideshow is here. Here just a few highlights:
On being a father of four daughters: “I never feel battered by it. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
