In 2022, Jim Carrey announced that he was retiring from acting, effective after Sonic the Hedgehog 2?s release. His last role was that of villain Dr. Robotnik in that film series. At the time, Jim told Access Hollywood that he would only come out of retirement for a script ?in gold ink? that was hand-delivered by angels. (Which, IMO, would be the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind script, which is one of my all-time favorite movies.) Well, two years later, Jim is back for more Hedgehog action and sadly, it?s not because angels showed up with tidings of a great script. Rather, his accountant showed up with a reality check. At the London premiere of Sonic 3, Jim ?fessed up that he?s making movies again because he needs the money.
Jim Carrey said he came back from retirement because he needed the money.
Carrey announced in 2022 that hed retire after the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, in which he played the villain Dr. Robotnik.
In an interview with Access Hollywood in April 2022, Carey said, If the angels bring some sort of script thats written in gold ink that says to me that its going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but Im taking a break.
That break was short-lived. Less than two years later, Variety confirmed in February that Carrey was coming out of retirement to star in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
In the film, premiering on December 20, Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik and his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik.
Speaking to the Associated Press at the London premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on Tuesday, Carrey said, I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius, which is a bit of a stretch. And I just, I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly.
Carreys salary for the previous two films isnt public knowledge, but Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequel were surprise box-office hits ? a rare occurrence for video-game adaptations. The first film grossed $319 million, and the sequel made $405 million in ticket sales.
In February 2023, Carrey also put a Los Angeles home hes owned for 30 years up for sale. The mansion was originally listed at $29 million, but after nearly two years on the market, the price has now been cut to $19.75 million.

Welcome back, Jim. I saw the first two Sonic movies with my kids. I liked the first one and thought the second one was?well, it was a thing that happened with some fun moments but an otherwise messy plot. I never got around to taking my older son to see Red One (oops, not sorry!), but both of my kids want to see Sonic 3, so there?s probably no getting out of that one.
As far as Jim?s confession that he needed the money, I respect the honestly here. Hopefully, hes working with a financial advisor or someone who can help him get back on track and learn to curtail his spending. Other actors, most famously Nicolas Cage and Al Pacino, have also had to take roles simply because they were broke or in heavy debt. Movie stars, they?re just like us! Only, they can turn around and get paid millions of dollars to film a family-friendly movie sequel which is guaranteed to make them even more money on the backend. We have to sell sh-t on Facebook Marketplace and donate plasma. Potato, pot-ah-to.

| Jim Carrey defends Kathy Griffin: 'It is the job of a comedian to cross the line' | Added 7 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

While everyone was paying attention to covfefe and Kathy Griffin, Donald Trump was continuing to be the worst person in the world. But sure, let?s keep talking about the Kathy Griffin stuff. On Tuesday, photos came out of Kathy holding a fake, bloody, decapitated Trump head. The Deplorables threw a sh-t fit, like it was the worst thing that was ever done, ever, in history. Trump behaved that way too, using his son Barron as a human shield from criticism and making the story about how Kathy Griffin made a kid cry. You know, like all of those kids in the Miss Teen USA pageant who were ogled by Trump in the changing room. Of course Kathy was really dumb and she shouldn?t have pulled that stupid stunt, but the overreaction to the stunt was ridiculous. Jim Carrey thinks so too. Carrey premiered his new Showtime show, I?m Dying Up Here (Carrey executive produces) this week, and he had stuff to say about the controversy:
Jim Carrey has some very strong opinions about whether comedians should speak up about American politics — and he’s sharing a provocative “dream” he had about President Trump with ET. The comedy icon spoke with ET at the premiere of the new Showtime comedy I’m Dying Up Here, where he addressed the controversy surrounding Kathy Griffin’s recent photo shoot in which she held a facsimile of President Donald Trump’s severed head.
“I think it is the job of a comedian to cross the line at all times — because that line is not real,” Carrey, 55, explained matter-of-factly to ET’s Leanne Aguilera on Wednesday night, just hours after Griffin was fired by CNN.
“If you step out into that spotlight and you’re doing the crazy things that [Trump is] doing,” Carrey continued, “we’re the last line of defense. And really, the comedians are the last voice of truth in this whole thing. It’s impossible to get away from it.”
The Golden Globe winner went on relate a dream he claimed he had recently. “I had a dream the other night I was playing golf with Donald Trump,” he recalled. “I was standing beside him with a club in my hand, and I was considering my options when I suddenly woke up. It was one of those dreams where you just want to get back to sleep so you can finish it, you know?” Carrey added.
[From Entertainment Tonight]
I know a lot of comedians feel similarly, that you can?t judge their comedy/art within the standards of political correctness. Many comedians will defend their right to work out their act in public, even if they get booed or hit some kind of PC nerve. But? I don?t think that?s what this is. Kathy Griffin stepped in it, she knows she stepped in it, and her career is probably never going to be the same. But I also understand what Jim Carrey is saying too, that in these terrible moments, we?re turning to Saturday Night Live, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert and other comedians more and more. We need them to speak truth to power. We need to protect their freedom to speak truth to power.

| Jim Carrey tweets about CA's 'corporate fascist' mandatory vaccination bill | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Over the past year (especially), California has faced several outbreaks of utterly preventable diseases. Diseases like measles, polio, mumps, rubella, all of which are completely preventable if you vaccinate your children. The anti-Vax people have found a home in California and they?ve grown and grown to the point where old diseases are now flourishing and causing major public health crises. So, California Governor Jerry Brown just signed a new mandatory vaccination bill, meaning it is no longer ?optional? to vaccinate your children.
Why bring this up? As it turns out, Jenny McCarthy?s ex-boyfriend Jim Carrey is something of a true believer. Even McCarthy has distanced herself from her previous anti-Vax statements (that vaccines cause autism), but Carrey still believes. And Carrey went OFF on Twitter Tuesday night. Here are his tweets in order:
California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in manditory vaccines. This corporate fascist must be stopped.
They say mercury in fish is dangerous but forcing all of our children to be injected with mercury in thimerosol is no risk. Make sense?
I am not anti-vaccine. I am anti-thimerosal, anti-mercury. They have taken some of the mercury laden thimerosal out of vaccines. NOT ALL!
The CDC can’t solve a problem they helped start. It’s too risky to admit they have been wrong about mercury/thimerasol. They are corrupt.
Go to http://traceamounts.com watch the documentary and judge for yourselves. If you really care about the kids you will. It’s shocking!
[From Jim Carrey]
The thing is? years ago, I did sometimes wonder if the anti-Vax crowd had a point simply about the mercury. Not that the vaccines ?caused? autism (vaccines do not cause autism), but that the vaccine schedule might be too hardcore, and that the mercury levels might be dangerous. But in the years since then, I?ve been convinced by the real scientists who have assured the public that vaccines are perfectly safe, and the risk to public health is greater if you refuse to vaccinate your kids. It does feel like Jim Carrey and the anti-Vax crowd are clinging to their bad science and half-truths and it feels like the sooner we can make the anti-Vax people into a radical fringe largely ignored by the general public, the better off we?ll be.

Looking for a little quality alone time, Jim Carrey hit up the ArcLight Hollywood movie theater on Tuesday evening (August 6).
The ?Bruce Almighty? star sported a side-swept Bieber-esque coif and cheesy smile as he strolled out of the cinema all by his lonesome.
And while Jim?s derogatory comments about ?Kick-Ass 2? may have angered studio bosses, the film?s writer Mark Millar doesn?t seem to mind at all.
Millar told press, "People keep saying to me, 'Are you pissed off at Jim Carrey?' No, I'm delighted with Jim Carrey, this is amazing. For your main actor to publicly say, 'This movie is too violent for me' is like saying, 'This porno has too much nudity. We'll have to go and see this now.??
"Universal figured that we probably got about $30 million of mainstream publicity because of it. A movie like Kick-Ass doesn't normally get into the mainstream news, we'll get into cult or movie news. But it's weird that we were talked about for 20 minutes on Good Morning America and British television. It was all down to Jim Carrey."

This is a tricky topic for sure because it involves the Sandy Hook massacre that took place last December. This incident was an unquestionably awful tragedy and spawned a new offshoot of the discussion of whether violence in film influences life. At the time, Quentin Tarantino answered “no” to that question while Jamie Foxx disagreed. There will never be a definitive answer to the debate of whether killers are driven by violent movies, music and video games, but even Madonna just gave her own opinion on the matter.
Now and in a strangely delayed reaction, actor Jim Carrey has entered the discussion of violence in film. Jim’s starring in the upcoming Kick-Ass 2, which is a sequel to the original adaptation of extremely violent comic books about a group of vigilantes who adopt superhero personas and beat the living hell out of really bad guys. The first movie was superviolent, to say the very least, and Jim chose to accept a role in the sequel.
Arguably, Jim is the biggest box office draw that the franchise has ever or will ever boast. I mean, Aaron Johnson and his lovely curls are returning from the first film, but Jim is more of a monetary booster than even Nic Cage was in the first movie. Cage and Carrey have both had their share of flops, but I think Jim is still considered an A-lister whereas Cage more often than not stars in some real stinkers. Anyway, Jim undoubtedly received millions for his role as Colonel Stars and Stripes, but now he’s trying to distance himself from this sequel, which is due to arrive in theaters on August 16. His rationale? Jim no longer supports gratuitous violence in movies:
I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to e

Jim Carrey showed off his new hot, young brunette girlfriend at Malibu beach over the weekend. He did his usual contorted now creepy looking face to the cameras before walking off.
I wonder. When Jim Carrey orgasms, does he make the most annoying sound in the world? He seems like the type that would.

Proving he hasn't yet given up on love, Jim Carrey was spotted out on the beach in Malibu with a hot, young brunette over the gorgeous end of summer weekend (September 15).
The shirtless 50-year-old big screen star showed off his not-so-muscular physique while enjoying a drink and conversation with his tiny black bikini clad companion.
Yet to find "the one" just yet, Carrey has been casually dating since the April 2010 demise of his five year relationship with Playboy babe Jenny McCarthy.
Among his other post-Jenny romances, the "Ace Ventura" actor dated "America's Next Top Model" contestant Anchal Joseph in early 2011 while one year later attached to a 23-year-old Russian student named Anastasia Vitkina.

| Enquirer: Jim Carrey has become a classic 'sugar daddy' for his new girlfriend | Added 12 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Over the holidays, Jim Carrey was photographed with his new “mystery girlfriend” at a Guns ‘n’ Roses concert. As details have filtered in about this young woman, revealed by Page Six to be a Russian socialite named Anastasia Vitkina, her age has remained nebulous. She’s currently a design student in New York and the ex of one of Jim’s friends, David Schoonmaker. By unverified accounts, Anastasia might be as young as twenty-three years, but according to The Enquirer, she’s at least two decades younger than Jim, who has reportedly been quite happy to act as a “Sugar Daddy” to his new girlfriend:
Jim Carrey has landed a new role — as a Sugar Daddy!
The 49-year-old star is getting “hot and heavy” with socialite Anastasia Vitkina — a Russian beauty 20 years his junior.
The comedian, who hasn’t had a steady relationship since his five-year romance with Jenny McCarthy ended in April 2010, regularly flies Anastasia from her home in New York, where she studied at Parsons School for Design, to see him in Los Angeles.
[A] founder of [a] dating website… which finds college-age girlfriends for wealthy men, believes Jim is exhibiting all the signs of a bona fide sugar daddy.
“He is extremely wealthy and, like many successful men, he has too little time to travel to see Anastasia,” Wade said. “So he pays for her to fly to wherever he is. She seems a very stylish young woman.
“Jim had been in a long, steady relationship and now he is enjoying life to the fullest with a much younger woman. As long as he pampers her, it will have a happy ending. Some people say that the relationship is doomed to fail, but I like to believe that with a little effor by Jim, it could last for a very long time. Everyone knows he is a funny guy. My advice to him is to keep her smiling.”
But Wade added that buying a ring would be a BIG mistake at this point. “The main reason sugar daddy relationships fail is that the man wants to get married, far too soon,” Wade explained.
Jim — who has a 23-year-old daughter and toddler grandson — doesn’t seem to mind the age difference when it comes to Anastasia.
“His friends are all worried he is looking for women that are way too young for him,” said a source. “Being a sugar daddy can be very tough. Anastasia seems to be a wonderful girl, and Jim is very happy with her. But what he wants in the future and what she wants may be two different things. Jim wants to get married again and start a family. Hopefully Anastasia feels the same way.”
[From Enquirer, print edition, January 16, 2012]
Well, I don’t really know what to think about this relationship. Jim’s seemed really off kilter ever since he and Jenny McCarthy broke up, which may or may not have been because he went off his meds. Then he dated some random 24-year-old model and professed his love for Emma Stone in that creepy video. But hey, if he’s happy with this new young lady, I guess that’s fine too. It must be really weird for his daughter to watch him date someone her age, but I’m afraid that’s all too commonplace these days.
Maybe Jim’s really found lasting love this time. Or at least some good sex. After all, he hasn’t boing-tweeted since late November. And the internet has rejoiced.

Several days ago, Jim Carrey brought his ?new girlfriend? out to a Guns N Roses concert in LA. These are photos of Jim and the chica leaving the concert. No media outlet – that I?ve seen – has this lady?s name. As far as I know, this is only his second girlfriend (that we know of) since he and Jenny McCarthy called it quits, right? Hmm? he went on a few dates with someone else for a hot minute – Anchal Joseph, who was a contestant on America?s Next Top Model. I remember that Jenny McCarthy moved on very quickly to some bodybuilder dumbass, but Jim?s post-split activities are largely blank to me.
Jim Carrey took his new mystery girlfriend to the Guns N’ Roses reunion concert in Los Angeles. The pair embraced the rock spirit with a co-ordinated look – he wore a leather jacket while she opted for skin-tight trousers in the same material.
The Ace Ventura star, 49,who also declared his love for the music genre on his T-shirt, kept a tight grip on the curly-haired blonde, who strutted by his side in Christian Louboutin heels.
The pair were first spotted together left in New York City last month, but her identity remains a mystery. Carrey has been largely single since splitting from long-term love, model and TV presenter Jenny McCarthy in April 2010.
In January, he was spotted on a date with America’s Next Top Model contestant Anchal Joseph, 24, but the pair weren’t seen together again.
Prior to meeting McCarthy, Carrey was once engaged to Renee Zellweger and has been divorced twice.
He has a 23-year-old daughter Jane from his first marriage to Melissa Womer and was wed to his Dumb And Dumber co-star Lauren Holly for a year.

What’s the theory on this girl? When I originally wrote about this coupling yesterday, I suggested that the lady looked “kind of rough” – which… granted, MAY have been harsh. It was just my knee-jerk reaction, though. She looks kind of like a washed-up groupie to me, but I’ll give Jim some credit: at least he’s not dating some young 22-year-old model-type. This is a lady with years and experiences under her belt. And it must be something serious if Jim is already going public with her at a Guns N Roses concert, right?

Well, one thing?s for sure. I doubt this lady was on ANTM. Is that too mean? Look, I?m sure she?s perfectly pleasant and all, but she looks kind of busted in these photos. At first glance, I thought, ?Oh, wow, Jim went for a woman his own age!? Jim turns 50 in a few weeks, and I thought this woman was probably in her 40s, but at second glance, I think she may be in her 30s. But she?s lived a hard life, I suspect. THAT HAIR. Is that a PERM? Good God. You can see more photos of them here – Jessica at INF has a great comment about chica?s forehead.
