I didn?t realize this, but Taylor Swift has never covered an issue of GQ (US) before now. I always think of her as dominating the magazine covers and while that?s true, it?s usually women?s magazines and music mags. If we?re being honest, almost entirely women?s magazines. She hasn?t covered Rolling Stone in over a year!
Anyway, yes, Swifty covers the November issue of GQ. It?s a sexy, men?s magazine-style cover too, as in? Swifty looks damp, she?s wearing something tight with a some cleavage and they gave her awful bangs a windswept, JBF-look. All in all, not a terrible cover and I?m glad it?s a more natural-looking shot on a Malibu balcony as opposed to Taylor in a studio, laying on her back spread-eagle with her thumb in her mouth. GQ isn?t releasing their cover story until next week, but they?re promising a lot:
For her first-ever cover with GQ, Taylor Swift spent time with writer Chick Klosterman, giving an intense and wide-ranging interview, while dodging paparazzi and, at one point, taking a surprise call from one of the few humans who is almost as famous as she is (and still makes her start struck!).
As Klosterman writes, ?If you don?t take Swift seriously, you don?t take contemporary music seriously? There?s simply no antecedent for this kind of career: a cross-genre, youth-oriented, critically acclaimed colossus based entirely on the intuitive songwriting merits of a single female artist. It?s as if mid-period Garth Brooks was also early Liz Phair, minus the hat and the swearing. As a phenomenon, it?s absolutely new.?

Garth Brooks and Liz Phair? What the what? I mean, I kind of understand the Liz Phair reference, but putting Phair together with Garth Brooks to describe Taylor Swift? No. Even when Taylor was country, she was still pop. She was still a crossover artist. I would argue that in the early part of her career, she just made twangy pop and she just dropped the twang with her past two albums. Anyway? I?m looking forward to the interview. As they say, I’m sure she did take some “surprise calls” from some of her collected A-list friends.

Here is Taylor Swift appearing to have a minor make-up mishap as she stepped out in New York City.
To make matters worse, the crisis could easily have been averted had the songstress took an extra second or two to check herself in the mirror.
Taylor looked fabulous in a black sweater, black jeans and boots, but when you zoomed in on her face, she clearly had a beauty blunder. The white powder under her eyes wasn?t blended in well enough with the rest of her makeup. But she looked picture perfect otherwise

She?s been on pretty much every magazine cover in the world by now, except GQ. But Taylor Swift is changing all of that with the November 2015 issue of the men?s magazine.
Writer Chuck Klosterman interviewed the ?I Knew You Were Trouble? songstress for the spread and it sounds like he was pretty impressed- ?If you don?t take Swift seriously, you don?t take contemporary music seriously...There?s simply no antecedent for this kind of career: a cross-genre, youth-oriented, critically acclaimed colossus based entirely on the intuitive songwriting merits of a single female artist. It?s as if mid-period Garth Brooks was also early Liz Phair, minus the hat and the swearing. As a phenomenon, it?s absolutely new.?
Meanwhile, Taylor told Britain?s NME magazine that she?ll step away from music once her current tour wraps in Australia this December- "I think I should take some time off. People might need a break from me. I'm going to hang out with friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don't know."

Taylor Swift covers the new issue of NME. What did they do to her eyes? Is this just a weird eyeshadow situation or did they Photoshop her eyes? Hm. Anyway, Taylor is in the middle of her 1989 world tour. The tour has been incredibly successful, just as her previous tours have been incredibly successful. She really does make crazy money these days, from actual music sales, from touring and from endorsements. So would it surprise you to learn that Taylor is actually thinking about taking a ?break? for a few years after her tour is done? Some highlights from NME:
When her tour is done in December: “I think I should take some time off. People might need a break from me. I’m going to hang out with friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.?
Everyone waiting for her to mess up: “If you let your anxiety get the better of you, like everybody’s waiting for you to really mess up, then you’ll be done. A lot of the time I call my mom and talk for a really long time, just to remind myself of all the things that are great and that matter.”
On the Nicki Minaj drama: “I don’t want to talk about it. But I send text messages now. If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone’s management, I get their number and I text them. It’s an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015.”
Finally burying the hatchet with Kanye West: “Me and Kanye are on such good terms now, six years later. It took a while… But I had to tell Beck this story earlier. I was at dinner with Kanye a week after the Grammys, he stops what he’s saying and he goes, ?What is this song? I need to listen to this every day.? I said, ?It’s Beck, it’s on an album called ‘Morning Phase’, I think you’ve heard of it?? We just burst out laughing. And he says, ?Hey, sometimes I’m wrong.?”

?People might need a break from me.? I see her point. While I could totally see her ?taking time off? after her tour ? and she should, she?s had a wild couple of years ? I just don?t see her really disappearing from the spotlight. I mean, she would probably still be in New York, getting pap?d regularly and of course there?s interest in her relationship with Calvin Harris. So even though we need a break from her, I doubt we?ll get it.
Speaking of people wanting Swifty to mess up, she stepped out in NYC last night and everyone?s talking about her terrible makeup. I?m not sure if this is a blending issue or if this is an issue with that hi-def makeup that so many women seem to have problems with.

Taylor Swift is being sued. Although the story is oddly detailed and it doesn?t make much sense. David Mueller is suing Swifty for basically getting him fired from his radio DJ job, after she and her people went to his employer (the radio station KYGO) and told them that Mueller grabbed her inappropriately backstage at one of her concerts. The alleged inappropriate touching ? which was a butt-grope, in case you?re interested ? happened in 2013. Swifty?s people still claim that Mueller did grope Taylor and ?the radio station was given evidence immediately after the incident. They made their independent decision.? Mueller is suing Swifty because he says Taylor was definitely groped, it just wasn?t by him, and that he lost his job because of her mistake. It?s convoluted, right? You can read more about it here.
Meanwhile, ?sources? claim that Tay-Tay and Calvin Harris are more in love than ever! They love each other so hard that she even calls him by his real name, Adam.
It?s a Love Story, baby, just call me Adam? Things are heating up between Taylor Swift and her boyfriend of six months, Calvin Harris. In fact, it?s getting so serious that the ?Blank Space? singer is not calling the Scotland-born DJ, 31, by his well-known stage name.
?Taylor always calls Calvin by his birth name, Adam, and never Calvin in private,? a source close to the couple exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Taylor gets all dressed and glammed up whenever she is going to see him to look her best.? Shall we call them ?Taydam??
Swift, 25, whose exes include (but are not limited to) Harry Styles, Conor Kennedy, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, and Joe Jonas, seems to be rather smitten with her new love.

I do think this romance is different, at least on Swifty?s side. Usually, her romances are so brief because inevitably the guy dumps her over the phone after a few months. Taylor and Calvin/Adam have been going strong for what? Since February/March. That?s at least six months of pure, real relationship happening. And you know what? Because this is so real and so much bigger and better than all of her previous relationships, you know what that means? The breakup is going to be the most epic thing ever. It?s going to be a mess. It?s going to be beautiful.

For some reason, Taylor Swift is still winning at life. Our hopes for some kind of long-standing Swift backlash came to nothing. She just got, like, a week of bad press over the summer and then she was back to being on top. She still has crazy/amazing fans and she still appreciates them. Apparently, a Swiftlunatic sent her this hand-knitted sweater which features a detailed ?Polaroid? of Swifty (like her album cover). Swifty posted the photo on her Instagram with this message: ?Someone knitted this sweater for me of a Polaroid of myself and gave it to my mom tonight at the show. It has very quickly become my everything. Thank you, mysterious knitter.?
And if that wasn?t enough, Swifty also got some post-VMA flowers from her new best friend, Kanye West. She posted this Instagram with the message: ?Awwww Kanye sent me the coolest flowers!! #KanTay2020 #BFFs.?
Does Kanye have a special ?flower guy? who does those blocks/walls of flowers for him? Why does this look like the cube version of the flower-wall Kanye gave Kim? Where does one put a cube of flowers? Why does Kanye only give ladies white/cream roses? Did Kanye send a note to Tay-Tay with the flower cube? Does Kanye want to be part of Taylor?s squad? Can “KanTay” become a thing? So many questions.
And while you ponder all of that, take in the latest Instagrams of Taylor?s kitty Olivia Benson. I love the chair photo!!!! Taylor wrote: ?Detective Olivia Benson is sitting in her chair, thinking about her life.? That?s an amazing pic.

This is one of the dumbest controversies about Taylor Swift this week. Like, I could understand the conversation about her ?Wildest Dreams? video, I could even understand the conversation about ?what did Tay-Tay really think about Kanye/Miley/Ariana Grande?? But someone was trolling MTV?s backstage live-feed of the VMAs and they caught Taylor and her people acting slightly odd, and they jumped to the conclusion of ?Maybe Taylor Swift Snorted Cocaine Backstage at the VMAs?? You can see the video here at Gawker. Seriously, go and watch it!
It?s pretty clear that Taylor was blowing her nose. I would even suggest that the real conspiracy is that she had a crunchy boog and she really need to dig for it. But even beyond that, the REAL STORY is that Taylor is literally so image-conscious that she was hyper-aware of the fact that she was being recorded backstage and she had her people form a protective circle around her so that she wouldn?t be seen blowing her nose on camera. That?s some next-level image control. THAT says more about her than what she does recreationally. For the record, I doubt she?s doing coke in general. I think she enjoys some wine or some cocktails, but even then, she probably doesn?t partake all that much because alcohol = empty calories. She?s seriously so slender these days.
Now, if you told me Cara Delevingne was getting into something, yeah, I?d believe you.

Even though Taylor Swift came rolling up to the VMAs with her girl squad (I?ll cover their fashion in another post), the night was all about Taylor. Like always, everything is always #AllAboutSwifty. Taylor?s red carpet look was this Ashish two-piece which? it wasn?t very cute AND she seemed very uncomfortable in it. Throughout the evening, she kept readjusting herself and the pants and it just didn?t seem like she really liked the outfit all that much. In the past, she?s made a big deal about no one seeing her belly button, and the pants were so high-waisted, it seemed like they were specifically designed so that Taylor wouldn?t have to show her most intimate of body parts, her belly button. Blah. I?ll give her this ? I prefer this Ashish look to what she wore at last year?s VMAs.
So, let?s talk about all of Swifty?s moments. First, she joined Nicki Minaj during the opening and sang a little bit of ?Bad Blood.? Perhaps this was supposed to be a duet, I have no idea, but it was basically just Swifty stage-crashing Minaj and Minaj barely singing any of Swifty?s song. Still, they had a nice moment together and they are now ?fine.?
Taylor won two awards during the actual telecast. When she won Female Pop video or something, MTV cut to Kanye in the audience and it really seemed like everyone around him was like ?DO IT KANYE, go up there and say something!? But he didn?t. Still, it was funny. Then Taylor tried (and succeeded somewhat) by making Kanye?s Video Vanguard Award all about her. Then Taylor won Video of the Year for ?Bad Blood? and she brought her squad on stage with her.

Nothing can stop the Taylor Swift train, and the ?Style? actress looks beautiful in black and white on the front of Vanity Fair's September 2015 edition.
The Grammy-winning pop star discusses her newfound friendship with Kanye West- "I feel like I wasn't ready to be friends with [West] until I felt like he had some sort of respect for me, and he wasn't ready to be friends with me until he had some sort of respect for me?so it was the same issue, and we both reached the same place at the same time. I became friends with Jay Z, and I think it was important, for Jay Z, for Kanye and me to get along. Kanye and I both reached a place where he would say really nice things about my music and what I've accomplished, and I could ask him how his kid's doing."
As for her battle with Apple Music, Taylor explains, ?I wrote the letter at around 4 a.m. The contracts had just gone out to my friends, and one of them sent me a screenshot of one of them. I read the term 'zero percent compensation to rights holders.' Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night and I'll write a song and I can't sleep until I finish it, and it was like that with the letter. My fears were that I would be looked at as someone who just whines and rants about this thing that no one else is really ranting about."
