Even though Taylor Swift isn?t promoting an album and her tour is totally done, she still hasn?t gone away (as she promised). But I?m not mad about it. Taylor is good for business no matter what she?s doing. Taylor covers the latest issue of Vogue (the May issue) ahead of her Met Gala co-hosting duties. Taylor is hanging out at Coachella with her boyfriend. Taylor is platinum blonde. Taylor is everywhere. So why is it that the most interesting thing Taylor has done in a long time is let us creep on one of her many homes?
As part of Vogue?s attempt to have a bigger footprint in online content, they now encourage all of their cover subjects to do this ?73 Questions? bit. Taylor agreed to it, and this video was filmed way before she changed up her hair so dramatically several times over the past few months. This takes place in LA, as she?s prepping for the Grammys? so, that means late January or very early February. The Vogue guy throws out questions to her but the real headline is that her Beverly Hills home is decorated just as you would expect it to be decorated. And Taylor is SO tall that she looks like she?s living in this tiny little home. Everything looks doll-sized with Taylor throwing off the proportions. Here?s the video. It?s more than nine minutes long!
Random thoughts:
I?m surprised by the ?busy? wallpaper in the entrance. That would drive me crazy.
Her home reminds me of the home of a cool 85-year-old grandmother.
?I?m a very spontaneous person?? Yes.
Vodka & Diet Coke is such a college-freshman cocktail. It?s also kind of gross, right? I mean, I love Diet Coke, but it?s much better to mix it with rum.
Her sink situation is amazing/crazy.
Of course she loves Love, Actually. I bet she loves Notting Hill too.
While her house seems to have weirdly small proportions, her outdoor area is THE BOMB.
Calvin Harris planted an olive tree in her yard for Christmas!!!!! I bet she would have preferred an engagement ring, just sayin?.
THAT BIKE (around the 5:30 mark).
?Get a good lawyer? ? I would argue that getting a lawyer is great advice for nearly everyone.
Taylor?s lamp situation is interesting/annoying. That Japanned lamp in her sitting room looks so out of place.
Of course she has awards spread out all over the place.
Near the end, Taylor is asked what she advice she would give to a 19-year-old, or her 19-year-old self. She says: ?If I could talk to my 19-year-old self, I?d say ?Hey, you?re going to date just like a normal 20-something should be allowed to but you?re going to be a national lightning rod for slut shaming.? Again, I feel like Taylor willfully misses the point, just as she did in her Vogue interview. If she wants to date, then good for her. People were always going to pay attention to who she dated because she was and is a massive celebrity. We took issue with the blind-item songs, the promotion of those relationships as if she was rolling out a new album, and oh, by the way, the whole thing with Conor Kennedy was still her creepiest moment. He was still in high school and she checked him out of his prep school so that they could go antiquing together. Talking about how she operates is NOT slut-shaming.

Here is Taylor Swift almost unrecognizable on the cover of Vogue’s May issue. Sporting a much edgier look, the singer gets incredibly honest about her plans (or lack thereof) for the future and learning to embrace her past.
No matter how ridiculous is her haircut, she’s a beauty

My God. Just? my God. This is possible the worst Taylor Swift cover image I?ve ever seen. And that fact that it?s American Vogue and that Taylor is the co-host of this year?s Met Gala and Taylor is like the biggest thing in music right now? there?s absolutely no reason for Vogue to use this image for their cover. It?s SO WRONG. Does Anna Wintour passive-aggressively hate Taylor or something? This is Exhibit A for why bangs need to stop happening. Anyway, there will be plenty of time to pore over this Vogue profile ? you can read the full piece here. Taylor is usually a pretty good interview, and this Vogue piece is a breezy read. She?s matured to the point where he?s not taking swipes at people, but she?s still the Swifty we know and love/hate. Some highlights:
Her future plans: ?I have no idea. This is the first time in ten years that I haven?t known. I just decided that after the past year, with all of the unbelievable things that happened?I decided I was going to live my life a little bit without the pressure on myself to create something.?
She?ll never give up music: ?I?m always going to be writing songs. The thing is, with me, I could very well come up with three things in the next two weeks and then jump back into the studio, and all of a sudden the next record is started. That?s an option, too.?
But she wants a more well-rounded life: ?I would really like to take a little time to learn things?I want to be a well-rounded person who can make a good drink?to be able to save somebody if they?re drowning?I do things like this? I got it in my head that I couldn?t do a split, and I was really upset about it. And so I stretched every single day for a year until I could do a split. Somehow I feel better knowing that I can.”
Her relationship with Calvin Harris/Adam Wiles: ?I?m just taking things as they come. I?m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key?this is the one thing that?s been mine about my personal life.”
On the Kanye West drama in February: ?I think the world is so bored with the saga. I don?t want to add anything to it, because then there?s just more.?
On the men in her life: ?You know, I went out on a normal amount of dates in my early 20s, and I got absolutely slaughtered for it. And it took a lot of hard work and altering my decision-making. I didn?t date for two and a half years. Should I have had to do that? No. I guess what I wanted to call attention to in my speech at the Grammys was how it?s going to be difficult if you?re a woman who wants to achieve something in her life?no matter what.?
Whether her girl-squad is actually a bad thing: ?Ugh. I?ve had people say really hurtful things about me, and so I?ve kind of learned how to gauge it: ?This is, like, low-to-medium-level hurtful.’ There are a lot of really easy ways to dispel rumors. If they say you are pregnant, all you have to do is continue to not be pregnant and not have a baby. If the rumor is that you have fake friendships, all you have to do is continue to be there for each other. And when we?re all friends in fifteen years and raising our kids together, maybe somebody will look back and go, ?That was kind of ridiculous what we said about Taylor and her friends.?”
[From Jason Gay/Vogue]
I glanced through the whole piece and I?m giving Taylor a slow-clap for not engaging with Kanye West in any way. If this was three years ago, she would have had unnamed sources or her girlfriends do the heavy lifting on taking someone down, but Taylor just breezes past the subject of Kanye with what amounts to a shrug. Good for her. The only eye-roll moment I had was this: ?I went out on a normal amount of dates in my early 20s, and I got absolutely slaughtered for it.? That, to me, is a fundamental misreading on Taylor?s part. I never cared that she dated guys, and she?s a celebrity so of course her boyfriends will get attention and media coverage. She was ?slaughtered? (not even) in the press for using those relationships as barely-concealed blind item/hit-piece songs. She literally has a song called ?Dear John? about John Mayer. She literally has a song ?Style? about Harry Styles. It was petty and juvenile.

Here is Taylor Swift making a surprise appearance at the GLAAD Awards on Saturday to present her friend, Ruby Rose, with one of the night’s biggest awards.
She took the stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles to introduce the actress, who was honored with the Stephen F. Kolzak award. Swift looked stunning in a long-sleeve, navy blue Haney gown.

According to my sources, the iHeartRadio Music Awards were held over the weekend and I’m sure you’re all extremely excited to see who took home the big awards showed up looking smoking hot. So here’s Taylor Swift putting on a pretty solid leg show and side boob action on the red carpet. Apparently she also […]

| Taylor Swift in a YSL jumpsuit at the iHeartRadio Awards: try-hard or cute? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I could post 50 photos of Taylor Swift?s pose-harding at the iHeartRadio Awards last night and each photo would make me laugh. It?s not that her outfit or her styling looked ridiculous, it?s just that she was taking the posing SO seriously. She was posing her ass off on this carpet and it was amazing. She really wanted the photographers to get her Saint Laurent Fall 2016 jumpsuit from every angle, especially the butt shots. As for the Saint Laurent jumpsuit ? while Taylor has a great figure, I feel like this is sort of unflattering on her. I would have loved to see her in something else from Saint Laurent, like one of the more menswear-inspired looks.
Taylor was joined at the awards show by her BFF Selena Gomez and her (Taylor?s) boyfriend Calvin Harris, also known as Adam Wiles. While Calvin and Tay didn?t walk the carpet together, they did sit together and Taylor did thank him during one of her many trips up to the stage to collect her awards, saying: ?For the first time, I had the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and when the crowds were all gone. So I want to thank my boyfriend Adam for that.” Taylor took home awards for Best Tour, Best Female Artist and Album of the Year. Calvin took home the award for Dance Artist of the Year. Taylor also said something about how this was her last awards show for a while. Sure. She’s probably going to spend the spring and summer planning her wedding!!!

Here is Taylor Swift stunning in her shiny cut-out dress while leaving Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills, California.
Despite dinner plans in LA, the singer still made along to Calvin Harris? gig in Las Vegas the same evening – where she had a great time, headbanging along to his set.
Earlier, she?d started her day 2000 miles away in Nashville, Tennessee, where she opened a children?s hospital.

| Taylor Swift in Alexandre Vauthier at the VF Oscar party: fab or fug? | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

There?s actually a grand tradition of Taylor Swift attending the Vanity Fair Oscar party. One year, she went to the party just to accost her ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal by the bathrooms. One year, she came out following another breakup and she wanted to show everyone that she was single. One year, she met up with Karlie Kloss at the VF party and then they went on a post-Oscar roud trip up the coast of California. This year, Taylor brought two dates ? her brother and one of the ladies in her squad, Lorde. Swifty and Lorde posed together on the carpet, then Swifty posed separately. I guess Taylor wants you to know that she?s not mad at Lorde for hanging out with (and hold hands with) Diplo last week. Diplo and Swifty are enemies, but that?s a story for another day.
Swifty wore this Alexandre Vauthier which? I?m not crazy about, but then again, I?m thankful that she?s moved beyond pastel tulle dresses. The worst thing about this look is her bob. I keep going back and forth on it ? in the photos of Swifty last week, in a casual outing, I almost liked the bob. But in these photos, I really don?t like it. It?s much, much too severe.
And here?s another VF party girl, Emily Ratajkowski. This dress is kind of a joke. Apparently, it?s Steven Khalil, although that ID might be wrong. But if she just wanted to wander around the VF party in a bustier and panties, why didn?t she just do that? Why do we have to call this a dress?

| Daily Beast: Taylor Swift is 'the living embodiment of white privilege' | Added 8 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some photos of Taylor Swift leaving the Isabel Marant boutique in West Hollywood yesterday. Her tour is done, she?s back at home in LA and she?s enjoying some downtime with her new Anna Wintour-esque haircut. While I hated the haircut at the Grammys, it?s sort of growing on me now. It?s better than the extensions and budget wiglets a lot of high-profile women wear. Now I just need her to wean herself off the bangs.
Anyway, Taylor is back in the news all the time these days because Kanye West just won?t stop bitching about her. Just this week, Kanye declared that Swifty ?had two seconds to be cool and she f?ked it up.? He also called her a Fake Ass in his SNL rant. And I?m sure he?s saying a lot worse about her behind-the-scenes. My point about Taylor and Kanye has always been: their beef has, historically, helped them both. Anyway, The Daily Beast had an amazing write-up about just that ? the piece is called ?Taylor Swift Is Not More Influential Than Kanye West.? It?s a great, thoughtful read, but this is my favorite part:
According to the Swift fairy tale, she is the consummate underdog, an outsider who grew up on a Christmas tree farm and was mercilessly bullied and rejected, but never gave up on her dream of music superstardom. The reality is a bit different. That Christmas tree farm Swift grew up on in Pennsylvania was actually purchased from one of Swift?s father?s clients (and the family summered at their oceanfront mansion in Stone Harbor, New Jersey). You see, Swift?s father is a very wealthy senior vice president at Merrill Lynch?and the descendant of three generations of bank presidents?while her mother worked at a mutual fund and is the daughter of a rich oilman.
When Swift was 13, her parents brought her to New York City and introduced her to manager Dan Dymtrow, who landed the singer-songwriter meetings with the top record labels, as well as a modeling gig as part of Abercrombie & Fitch?s ?Rising Stars? Campaign. In the photo, a tall, slender Swift is portrayed balancing an acoustic guitar with one hand and dabbing her eye with the other; it?s the birth of the Swiftian persona, the unpopular geek who deserves your sympathy? while modeling for Abercrombie & Fitch in the eighth grade.
Dymtrow landed Swift an artist development deal at RCA Records, but Swift left the label for Big Machine Records?a tiny imprint that her father helped kick-start with a six-figure investment. He then transferred to the Nashville office of Merrill Lynch, and moved the family to a lakehouse mansion in Tennessee, in order to help foster Swift?s burgeoning country music career. A then-16-year-old Swift?s self-titled debut album was released in 2006 to massive acclaim, and the rest, as they say, is history. Now, this is not to say that Swift isn?t a musical prodigy?she is, winning a talent contest to open for Charlie Daniels at 11, and taking home first prize in a national poetry contest at 12?but she is also, in many ways, the living embodiment of white privilege.
[From The Daily Beast]
I didn?t even know all of that. That?s how great the Taylor Swift fairy tale is, and how well it?s been sold. And that is Taylor?s strength, and it always has been: she?s a brilliant marketer. She’s better at the business of selling herself than she is at making music (#facts). She?s a Machiavellian genius on behalf of her career. So while I think Kanye West needs to hush about Taylor specifically, don?t cry for Swifty. She?ll always find a way to turn all of this to her advantage.
