With the endurance of a marathon runner, Taylor Swift made yet another media appearance at ?The Late Show with David Letterman? on Tuesday night (October 28).
The ?I Knew You Were Trouble? songstress was stunning in a white top/black skirt combo as she greeted fans outside of Manhattan?s Ed Sullivan Theater.
During her interview, Taylor talked about becoming pals with Lena Dunham via Twitter- ?I googled her and I saw her quoting my lyrics and I thought, she has to be doing that ironically, she has to be making fun of me?I have this big looser complex from school.?
?[But I realized she] likes my music and it wasn?t ironic at all. Then we met in person?and we've been best friends ever since.?
Additionally, Swift addressed the naysayers who have criticized her new role as official ambassador for the City of New York- ?I don't get any money for that, but I have a song called Welcome to New York and I recently moved here. When I love something I am very vocal about it? I love it with like 18 exclamation marks underneath it, and underlined. I'm like the most obnoxious person to ever loudly love New York and I think they picked up on that.?
Taylor?s 1989 album sold 600,000 copies in its first 24 hours and is on track to moving one million units before the week is up. That would make her the only singer to have three million-selling albums in a row!

Real question for all the tall girls: why would you ever feel the need to wear a platform heel? I?m not judging tall girls for wears heels, mind you, but I?m side-eyeing Taylor Swift?s platform heels, which must make her well over six feet tall. She probably towered over everybody at Good Morning America yesterday. Anyway, you know how Swifty has a new album? Like you could avoid it. She?s completely oversaturated the media promoting this thing, but maybe that?s smart. I don?t know. Well, on her album, there?s a song called ?Welcome to New York,? all about how Swifty is now a New Yorker and she struts around Manhattan in high heels, carrying her cats. That?s Swifty?s version of New York. And now the song has made her the ?Global Welcome Ambassador for the Big Apple.?
Taylor Swift may have only welcomed herself to New York in March, but she?s already explaining city to the world. The mega music star has been named the ?Global Welcome Ambassador for the Big Apple? ? and has made a series of tourism videos in which she gushes about things such as: how she just realized that New Yorkers are friendly and what a bodega is.
?I?m still learning, but I?m so enthusiastic about this city that when I love something, I?m very vocal about it,? Swift said on ABC?s ?Good Morning America? Monday morning, when she announced her new role. In the tourist videos, made in conjunction with NYC & Company, the city?s official marketing and tourism organization, Swift gushes about the city she?s lived in for about five minutes.
She advises people to ?carve out your own New York? ? something that?s easy to do when you can afford a $20 million home like the one she bought In Tribeca in March.
?People kind of pick out their favorite little neighborhoods and get to know people around those neighborhoods,? she observes.
She also give New Yorkers credit for having manners.
?People talk about Southern hospitality, and that?s a real thing, but there?s also a really interesting hospitality about New York too,? Swift says.
The Pennsylvania native then gives lessons on how to talk like a real New Yorker.
?A bodega is a corner store that?s open pretty much 24 hours most of the time,? she explains in one clip as she sits on the roof of a Manhattan apartment. ?You can get almost anything in a bodega. Bodegas are our friends.?
Stoops, according to Swift, are similar to what most people call porches, ?but not in New York? Anything that is basically a stairway entry into a dwelling, home, apartment, brownstone or townhouse is referred to as a stoop,? she explains.
Swift ? who is known for her many romances ? said she quickly fell for the city, similar to her quick dive into love with former flings. The campaign also comes in conjunctive with her latest album, ?1989,? which has a song called ?Welcome to New York? which is used in the background for the clips.

Is this silly? Of course it is. It?s silly at every level. I can see why people are mad because Taylor is being used to literally white-wash a very diverse city, rich in culture and history, with amazingly diverse populations and enclaves and languages. This is part of the Disneyification of Manhattan too, the attempt to turn Manhattan into some kind of theme park. Who better than Taylor Swift, who is basically Bambi come to life? But still? it?s just a silly tourism campaign and Swifty?s just promoting her album. Is this really a big deal?

It?s a huge day for Taylor Swift and her fans, as her brand new album 1989 is now available in stores and via digital retailers.
The ?Welcome to New York? songstress paid a visit to ?Good Morning America? this morning (October 27) to chat about the road she?s traveled and the key decisions that have brought her to this point in her career.
Swift explained, ?I think you have to stay true to who you are [and], at the same, time challenge who you are to explore all the different aspects of what you can create.?
As for her transition to a full-pop record, Taylor noted, ?I could have made ?Red? twice. I could have done the same thing over again but, instead, I decided to go in a completely different direction, and I?m so happy that I did because the fans are truly going to get a new album.?
?This felt like the most authentic thing for me to follow because I?ve been playing around with pop sensibilities with my writing for the last couple of years and I just really wanted to go for it this time.?

Taylor Swift?s 1989 album doesn?t come out officially until this week, but over the weekend, most of the album leaked online and many music critics rushed to publish pieces about the album. For what it?s worth, most music critics like the album and think that Swifty has another major hit on her hands. There?s also some analysis about which lyrics are about which boys, because of course.
Taylor?s whole shtick during this promotional tour has been ?I?m taking a break from dating, I love my independence.? We?ve heard versions of that in nearly every Swifty interview. Which is fine. That?s her deal this year and I actually prefer that version of Swifty as opposed to ?I?m in love with love, I?m boy-crazy and dating a guy still in high school.? Swifty did tell The Sun last week that she hasn?t dated a guy in 18 months. As in, she hasn?t even gone on a date in 18 months. That sounds? true. Or true-ish. Here are some quotes from Swifty?s exclusive interview with The Sun:
Why she hasn?t been dating: ?I get stressed when I think about getting into a relationship because I get beat up in the press whenever I go near a boy. So you can understand why I’m taking a bit of a break. A relationship is not in my brain right now?It’s been seen as a scandal when I date a boy yet dating people is a normal thing for a twentysomething to do. But it has been treated as if I have some sort of problem.’
Writing the lyric ‘Boys only want love if it’s torture.’: ?I was thinking about this – boys only want love if it’s torture and a constant chase. Men want love if it’s real, right, healthy and consistent. Any girl who’s really thought a lot about romance and relationships and break-ups has determined that the male species has divided into two groups – and it’s boys and men. You can have a 40 year old boy and a 20 year old man – it depends on their emotional DNA.?
Love in her life: ?I have so much love in my life without having a love affair in my life. I think it’s important to find romance and magic in your life without there being a relationship that constitutes that.?

I like what she has to say about boys and men. It?s not, like, the most profound thing ever, but it?s good that she?s learning from past relationship mistakes and trying to figure it out. The problem is that Swifty has always liked boys, not men. Men who are emotionally mature, who are looking for a real relationship with an accomplished woman, will they really want to get involved with Swifty and her middle school drama? I?m not throwing shade, I?m really trying to understand. One of her last boyfriends was still in high school, I?m just saying. She had to sign Conor Kennedy out of prep school so they could go on dates.

Always an interesting interview, Taylor Swift paid a visit to ?The Ellen DeGeneres Show? to chat about all kinds of crazy things.
The ?Shake It Off? singer confessed that she has a couple irrational fears, the first of which is sea urchins- ?They are like a grenade?sitting there waiting to completely injure you."
Swifty?s other worry centers around crime- "I'm scared of being framed. So many people [could] frame me. And they can frame you for any crime that you could go to jail for. Look at me, I wouldn?t survive in jail!?
"I think the dream and nightmare of being framed comes from ? I could do nothing wrong, I could sit in my house with the cats all day and somehow there could be an article about me buying a house in a place I?ve never been or dating a guy I?ve never met. So, it?s like?then you take it a step further and in a nightmare world it?s being framed for murder."
Meanwhile, during her time on ?The Voice,? Taylor learned one of the judge?s Achilles heel- ?Like, Adam Levine's weakness is musical theater songs. Did you know that? If you sing songs from Rent you can actually render Adam Levine helpless on the floor.?

We?re just five days away from the release of Taylor Swift's new record, and today (October 22) there?s a brand new song snippet for our eager ears to hear.
The ?I Knew You Were Trouble? singer is featured in a new ad for Target, where Swifty?s 1989 album will be offered as a special edition with three bonus tracks.
And in the background of the ad plays Taylor?s new song ?Style,? further adding to fans? anticipation.
Additionally, NBC just unveiled the new promo for Swift?s guest coaching spot on ?The Voice,? and it looks amazing!

Taylor Swift has another interesting interview, this time with Esquire. I know a lot of you were yelling about Swifty?s interview yesterday, where she talked about how ?sexist? it is that we?re like ?haha, she writes blind-item songs about her ex-boyfriends.? I didn?t agree with her, but I also felt like? I don?t know, she?s trying to change. She?s maturing. Is she some amazing truth-telling feminist and we should just take her word that something is ?sexist?? No, not really. But I appreciate the fact that she?s actually thinking about those kinds of things, like she?s asking herself ?Is this sexism? Would they treat me differently if I was a man doing this?? I bring that up because she?s talking about sexism again, plus loads of other stuff. I edited out a bunch of same-old crap about how much she loves her girlfriends (she?s really going through a Girlfriends Phase and yes, I do think it?s just a phase). Why people pay attention to her dating habits: ?I think with every celebrity story there has to be a “Yeah, but ?” Take Beyonc: She’s incredibly talented, gorgeous, perfect role model for girls, empowering women all over the world. Yeah, but ? let’s try to pick at her marriage. I think that every celebrity has that. And predominantly women, unfortunately.?
Whether she?s a control freak: ?No. The only thing I can’t control is the spin in the press. And so if I know I can’t control that, I have to let it go. In some ways, though, you can control it. I really didn’t like the whole serial-dater thing. I thought it was a really sexist angle on my life. And so I just stopped dating people, because it meant a lot to me to set the record straight?that I do not need some guy around in order to get inspiration, in order to make a great record, in order to live my life, in order to feel okay about myself. She handwrites thank you notes to deejays: ?I love writing thank-you notes. There’s something very nostalgic to me about the feel of a card and putting pen to paper. How many times in our lives are we required to put pen to paper anymore? There’s something romantic and sort of lost about it. I like things you can touch and things you can keep, because every bit of communication we have is ephemeral in nature. You can just delete an e-mail and it’s like it was never there.?
Takedown culture: ?That’s what I don’t like about celebrity culture and the obsession with it, and the takedown culture that we seem to be in. You have celebrities who are pushed to the brink of a public meltdown, and so the public thinks that every person in the public eye has dirty secrets that they’re keeping, or isn’t what they seem, or is masking it and faking sincerity, faking authenticity, faking being surprised at award shows when you win a Grammy.?
Her security personnel: ?I fought the idea of having security for a very long time, because I really value normalcy. I really do. I like to be able to take a drive by myself. Haven’t done that in six years. [Even in Tennessee] they have to be in a car behind me. Because just the sheer number of men we have in a file who have showed up at my house, showed up at my mom’s house, threatened to either kill me, kidnap me, or marry me. This is the strange and sad part of my life that I try not to think about. I try to be lighthearted about it, because I don’t ever want to be scared. I don’t want to be walking down the street scared. And when I have security, I don’t have to be scared.
Behind the Music: ?When I was a little kid, my friends were watching Disney Channel, but I was watching Behind the Music. And I was drawing these conclusions, like the reason these people went off the rails is because they lost their level of self-awareness. They turned a blind eye to things they didn’t want to see, and all of a sudden all they were seeing were their delusions of grandeur. And I never wanted to make that mistake in my life, regardless of what my career ended up being. I take away these kind of life lessons from that show.

I think feminism is so new to Swifty that she thinks crying ?sexism? is like waving a magical wand in front of the press to make everyone take her seriously. Talking about who she dates isn?t a ?sexist? angle on her life when she?s parading her boyfriends around the paparazzi, organizing Us Weekly covers and cornering exes at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. And she?s still pissed off that people made fun of her near-constant OMG SURPRISE Face at awards shows. Dear Tay-Tay: you are a silly goose. Stop taking yourself so seriously!
Oh, and there?s an interesting answer when she?s asked about her background in country music ? her current album is solid pop, as was the last album (although the last one still got some country radio play). Swifty talks about how she learned how to be a professional because she started in country music and hand to God, it sounds like she?s running for political office. Her answer is very Sarah Palin, like Palin?s riff on how the small towns are ?real America? as opposed to the big cities.

While her music is usually pretty uplifting and fun, Taylor Swift also has to deal with a much darker side of life given her success and beauty.
In the November 2014 issue of Esquire magazine, the ?Out of the Woods? songstress shares that she?s accepted that she needs to have a security team around her at all times.
"I fought the idea of having security for a very long time, because I really value normalcy. I really do. I like to be able to take a drive by myself. Haven't done that in six years. They have to be in a car behind me. Because just the sheer number of men we have in a file who have showed up at my house, showed up at my mom's house, threatened to either kill me, kidnap me, or marry me."
For instance, one man threatened her via social media while claiming they were married. "This is the strange and sad part of my life that I try not to think about. I try to be lighthearted about it, because I don't ever want to be scared. I don't want to be walking down the street scared. And when I have security, I don't have to be scared."
And while the media constantly questions her love life, Taylor doesn?t see anything wrong with it. "I would date someone, figure out we weren't compatible or figure out we didn't work out, and then we'd break up. That seems like a very normal thing for a young 20-something to do. I think it's healthy for everyone to go a few years without dating, just because you need to get to know who you are."
