These are photos of Gwyneth Paltrow in Switzerland yesterday. She was there because she?s the ?face? or ambassador (?) of Baume & Mercier. Of her new endorsement deal, Goopy said: “The motto of Baume & Mercier, ‘Life is about moments,’ very much reflects my personal philosophy of life. That’s why I said yes, responded positively, when the brand proposed that I represent it.? So special. Yes, Gwyneth. Life is about moments. I?m sure she went on to snot, ?I was just discussing this with Dalai Lama and he agreed with my supposition about this life-moment situation. He said it was such a groundbreaking, brilliant observation that he just needed to discuss it with Vladimir Putin. I told him, ?Dear Dolly? - because that?s what I call him, he?s my dearest friend - ?Dear Dolly, I already called my friend Putin and told him this. He?s going to stitch it on a pillow using radioactive gold thread!? Isn?t that hysterical??
Anyway, as you can see, Gwyneth looked like hell. Perhaps Switzerland doesn?t agree with her? She?s so British. And Spanish. And Switzerland was just too much for her. But couldn?t she even find the time to wash her hair? Or at the very least comb it? And why does she look greasy? At some point Gwyneth really did become ?one of us? didn?t she? She is no longer the aloof Mistress of Elitism, deigning to give some morsels of advice to the unwashed peasants. At some point, Goopy became a peasant, wandering around looking greasy and unkempt and Botoxy.
By the way, the dress is Azzedine Alaa. I think it looks cheap as hell, and Gwyneth is too old (and too greasy) to pull off such a ?young? frilly Pink thing.
Thanks to LaineyGossip for the lead!

Enjoying some time overseas, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted at the Baume & Mercier Gala Evening for 21st SIHH High Jewelry Fair last night (January 17).
The ?Sliding Doors? actress looked lovely as she mingled at the Geneva, Switzerland affair, sporting a muted Pink dress with hot Pink peep-toe heels.
Over the weekend, Gwyneth had the audience in stitches as she hammed it up on ?Saturday Night Live.?
In one sketch, Paltrow played Taylor Swift while Jay Pharoah spoofed Jay-Z and Abby Elliott impersonated Katy Perry.

Between her career and family, Gwyneth Paltrow has a hard time figuring out which way is up, and she?s sharing her crazy life in her new GOOP newsletter.
The ?Country Strong? actress wrote about the goings on in her life back on November 4th, 2010 - a day she described as especially challenging.
Gwyneth shared, "Got Apple all fed and dressed in her uniform and ready to go but no sign nor sight of Moses at 8 am and we have to be out of the house by 8:20. I went up to arouse the little man from slumber and he quite happily got up and crawled into my arms. We got downstairs and I made him a quick breakfast of eggs and toast followed by a spoonful of lemon flavored flax oil that I try to remember to give them both every morning."
Later on, Ms. Paltrow had to do some work on her wardrobe. "We tried on a myriad of dresses and outfits, and I had b.o. by the end of it from wrestling with all of those dresses."
Finally at night, she got to relax with some friends. "I rushed downstairs to grab a blazer and some blush and flung myself in the car for girls night. Lovely dinner and great conversation. 11:29 pm now, exhausted and ready to do it all again tomorrow!"

This week?s Goop newsletter is a classic! Gwyneth Paltrow is so stuck up her own ass, it?s not even funny, and CB and I have been emailing back and forth about our favorite part - Gwyneth Paltrow name-dropping her very best dear friend, her personal FISHMONGER. I mean? you really can?t make this up. Anyway, after last week?s Goop newsletter about how she was constipated (yet again), this week?s piece is done as a ?Day In The Life Of The Goop?. Goopy writes down everything she did on the day of November 4th. It?s EPIC. The full piece is here, but I edited the whole thing here to make it more readable:
When I got downstairs this morning at the crack of whenever, the coffee machine said ?ERROR 8? and wouldn?t let me make the cup I had been dreaming about. This begs the question: is it odd to dream yourself to sleep thinking about the next morning?s coffee? Not a good beginning.
Got Apple all fed and dressed in her uniform and ready to go but no sign nor sight of Moses at 8 am and we have to be out of the house by 8:20. I went up to arouse the little man from slumber and he quite happily got up and crawled into my arms.
We got downstairs and I made him a quick breakfast of eggs and toast followed by a spoonful of lemon flavored flax oil that I try to remember to give them both every morning. Getting everyone into the car on time was a challenge; we?re going through a phase where no one seems to be responding to me (?Time to put on your shoes? ? No response.)
It is the school Christmas toy drive deadline today so before jumping into the car, we pack up and finish decorating the shoe boxes with toys, toothbrushes, hats, scarves, books, etc, for the school Christmas toy drive. Once the kids really understand that the toys go to children around the world who will not be as fortunate as they are this year, they very sweetly take trips to the playroom adding their own toys and books to the boxes.
Somehow managed to get to school just as the old-fashioned bell rang. Moses was a bit teary today so I hung around and watched him through the window. Periodically he would check to make sure I was still there.
When all was well I dodged off as fast as possible but was still late to the 9 am workout. Did dance aerobics for 45 minutes then all of the butt lifts and the like. Rushed upstairs to have a shower, doing my post workout stretch while the conditioner was doing its magic on my hair to combine activities/save time. Dressed quickly and rushed downstairs.
On a less manic day, this would be my couple of hours in the office to work on GOOP, come up with ideas, write/edit and go over scheduling, travel, whatever else I have going but I have no time so I just pop the old cabeza in to see if there are any deadlines or fires that need putting out. When I am given the all clear I rush out the door, headed to rehearse with a band to prepare for the Country Music Awards which are just a week away. I?ve never performed live before so I?m preparing for this as if it were the Superbowl, which, in it?s own way, it is. I?ve been having voice lessons with my teacher, Carrie Grant, every day and rehearsing with an amazing London-based band. This will be my fourth and shortest rehearsal of the week, as the day is so full, but I am excited to get in there and see everyone. Had to do my vocal exercises/warmups in the car, sooo not a good look. Fellow drivers looked on a bit bewildered.
Rehearsed with the band from 11:30 to 12:30 and then scooted back out to the car and had kind of a big interview on the phone while trying to subtly check/reply to well-overdue email. Got home and had a fitting with super stylist Elizabeth Saltzman for the upcoming Nashville trip (what to wear, what to wear?) from 1-2. This is my 4th out of 5 fittings for this trip. We tried on a myriad of dresses and outfits, and I had b.o. by the end of it from wrestling with all of those dresses. I have six looks I need to choose for the trip; there?s the radio press conference upon arrival, the red carpet for the Country Strong premier, press interviews, a Sony Music VIP dinner, the red carpet for the CMA?s and the outfit for my performance!
Thursday is the one day of the week that I do not pick my kids up after school. They go straight to an activity and I am able to really maximize work stuff. I always feel a bit guilty (obviously) about it, but it means I can focus fully on them when they get home instead of trying to do two things at once.
At 4pm, my weekly owners’ and managers’ call takes place for the Tracy Anderson Method with our brilliant CEO Stephanie Stahl taking the lead. I basically listen and try to learn. Kiddies burst through the door and play in my office while I finish up, just drawing and hanging out and of course playing Plants vs Zombies on the iPad, their obsession that I have to limit like crazy! What up, gamers.
Then downstairs to make cupcakes for tomorrow?s bake sale. It is ?Bonfire night? in the UK tomorrow and the bake sale is to celebrate and to raise money for charity. We decide on vanilla cupcakes with Pink icing and green icing (from Tate?s Bakeshop cookbook with the icing from American Desserts cookbook). At 6:30 pm we all get in the bath and it?s hair washing night for the kids (every other night?never popular). Then back downstairs to check on cupcakes and have a visit from an auntie and uncle. The kids indulge in a super sugary cupcake before bed but I don?t feel too bad because they had a brown rice stir fry for dinner with baked sweet potato on the side. It?s all about balance! My night to lay with Mosey so I tuck Apple in, say a prayer and go into Mosey’s room for a story, foot massage and quiet time. As soon as all was quiet, I rushed downstairs to grab a blazer and some blush and flung myself in the car for girls night. Lovely dinner and great conversation. 11:29 pm now, exhausted and ready to do it all again tomorrow!
Gwyneth?s time saving tips:
1. Schedule your time well. When I know what I am doing from hour to hour I get more done. Write it all in the day?s calendar, what you want to accomplish and in what time frame.
2. Focus on the task at hand. Be thorough.
3. I cook a lot, especially on the weekends, so I like to plan a rough menu for the whole weekend and get the food in on Friday. Obviously stores and websites that deliver make this a dream. In London I use Ocado. Also James Knight, my favorite fishmonger, will deliver. Having all of the ingredients means I’m prepared even when I don’t think I am.
4. I always lay the kids uniforms and school things out the night before once they are asleep. When it?s quiet I can check the “kid list” for show and tell items to bring in, consent forms, ballet kit, etc, so that the morning is less of a scramble.
5. The school run is a great time to return calls (in whichever direction that the kids are not in the car) so don’t forget your hands-free device.
[From Goop]
A few points. ?James Knight, my favorite fishmonger? is CLASSIC GWYNETH. Of course she has a FAVORITE fishmonger. She knows so many fishmongers, and she has to be choosy and elitist and pick a FAVORITE. Also: ?On a less manic day, this would be my couple of hours in the office to work on GOOP? - she has an office. Where she works on Goop. Like it?s a real job. Like it?s a career choice. “What do you want to do when you grow up, Timmy?” “I want to work at GOOP!”
But I will give her some credit, she sounds like a great, super-involved mom. Kudos to her for that. It wouldn?t be possible without her FAVORITE fishmonger, though.

Looking to expand her career into the timepiece realm, Gwyneth Paltrow is gearing up for a new line of watches.
The ?Shakespeare in Love? actress has joined forces with Baume & Mercier to help the Swiss watchmaker boost sales.
Later this month, Paltrow will kick off the SIHH watch fair cocktail party in Geneva, and later this fall she?ll help launch a new Hamptons line of timepieces.
CEO Alain Zimmerman explained, ?Our positioning remains as a brand that offers high-quality products with a beautiful design.? Sounds like a match made in heaven.

“Victory is mine, PEASANTS!!” - Goop.
Also, some SPOILERS below.
Once again, it is CRAZY SLOW today, so I?m searching for interesting stories. And then it occurred to me - Country Strong is opening in wide release today. Just how bad are the reviews? Well, they?re pretty bad. Like, ?Country Strong makes The Tourist look like Citizen Kane? bad. Gwyneth Paltrow?s hopeful ?comeback? lead role has a dismal 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. Her performance specifically is rubbing people the wrong way, but critics seem to have a problem with the entire film in general too. I imagine most people would have issues with a film in which a pregnancy country star got drunk and fell off the stage, miscarrying. I mean? come on. Here are some samplings from the reviews:
Toronto Star: ?Much has been made of ice-queen Paltrow?s conversion to country siren, by way of a few warbles that suggests she?s really a hayseed at heart. But there?s scant sonic evidence to prove it: all of her numbers in Country Strong, including the title tune, are reduced to brief snippets, often drowned out by her band or the roar of crowd-for-hire. Paltrow?s Kelly Canter is more karaoke than country, but to be fair, it?s not entirely her fault. The many tunes in Country Strong are of such astounding banality, it?s as if they were written by caged chimps as they were driven through Nashville on the way to a medical research lab.?
Roger Ebert: “Country Strong” is one of the best movies of 1957, and I mean that sincerely as a compliment? This is a movie into which Lee Remick and Rock Hudson and Sandra Dee would have slipped without shoehorns, and Douglas Sirk would have known where to march them. Its emotions are strong and visible. Its motives are clear. Its music performances are so good, we wish they lasted longer. Gwyneth Paltrow is so beautiful and is just really so nice that she brings enormous sympathy to her role. And Hedlund’s Beau would do anything for a woman ? or two women, in this case? Another thing that places this movie in the 1950s milieu is its understanding of alcoholism. It thinks being drunk comes on people in sudden spurts, like a sneezing fit, and goes away when the plot needs it to. Kelly will be waving a vodka bottle at one moment and morosely pondering at the next. She (Paltrow, that is) has a lovely scene where she coaches young Chiles on what she needs to know about sweat stains, high heels and love.?
Newark Star-Ledger: ?Country Strong [is] a big musical drama with Gwyneth Paltrow as a fresh-from-rehab singer falling apart on the comeback trail. Full of self-regard, the picture even played Los Angeles last month, in order to qualify for possible Academy Awards. Confidence is a lovely thing. Sometimes. But ?Country Strong,? sadly, includes everything on the best-actress checklist except a performance ? unless you consider two hours of Paltrow alternating between drunken crying jags and wan country warbling something more than a privileged star showing off?I mean, a country star who miscarried when she fell off the stage in a drunken stupor? And now coos to an orphaned baby bird she carries around in a cigar box? When she?s not knocking Tony Lamas with her cute male nurse from the rehab center??
Yeah? Ebert kind of liked it. I think he?s a fan of The Goop. But this junk sounds hideous, it really does. Not only that, it also is starting to seem vaguely offensive, like THIS is what all of those Northern Aggressors think we?re like in the South. Note to Hollywood (and Gwyneth specifically): Y?all need to actually spend some time in the South. Not everyone sounds like Britney Spears, not everyone listens to country music, not everyone drives a pickup truck, and we?re not all hysterical lushes. Just FYI. Maybe Goop should devote a newsletter to her Brit-Brit twang. Wouldn?t you love that?

Gwyneth Paltrow?s press tour for the soon-to-be-total bomb Country Strong continues. It?s actually enough to make me sympathetic towards Gwyneth - she used to be a decent actress, back in the day, under specific circumstances. How the mighty have fallen, etc. Except that it?s impossible to have sympathy for Gwyneth when she?s too busy gooping about how EVERYTHING in her life is so great, and how all of her ?dear friends? are just amazing, and didn?t you hear that she recently ran into her best friend Beyonce and they were discussing her best friend Robert Downey Jr., and then Deepak Chopra and Brad Pitt came over and wasn?t that weird? Gwyneth hasn?t spoken to them since she last saw Ben Affleck, over at Madonna?s? or maybe it was Stella McCartney?s. Or Valentino?s. Didn?t you hear, Anna Wintour just told me how they redid that castle, she stayed there with her loving husband Chris Martin, who appreciates her so much.
So, name-dropping is an art Gwyneth has mastered, and she?s been doing it through the whole press tour. The latest name-drop: Tom Cruise. Seriously, Goop? You?re going to whore out Tom Cruise?s name to help you sell your Britney Spears bender movie?
Gwyneth Paltrow has smooched some hot men on the big screen ? paging Jude Law and Brad Pitt ? but the Oscar winner has no problem picking her favorite: Tom Cruise.
“I did a little cameo once at the beginning of Austin Powers 3, I think it was, and I got to make out with Tom Cruise,” Paltrow, 38, tells the host on Friday’s Rachael Ray Show. “He was an amazing kisser!”
As for her current role in Country Strong, Paltrow confessed to some transgressions from her normally clean-living philosophy to help her get into character as an alcoholic singer.
“You just get really drunk all the time,” she says. “Which is awesome! At least I did anyway, it’s not very professional. There’s a Bloody Mary at 10 a.m. and keep it going all day!”
The thrill, she added, was stepping outside her regimented life.
“It was actually very liberating and amazing to play somebody who just didn’t think about consequences because I’m so responsible with my life, and too worried about everybody and my kids and where’s everybody going,” Paltrow says.
Aside from the daily Bloody Marys, Paltrow jokes that she’d probably only be able to perform at the Oscars “maybe with some Xanax!” But added, “I’ve learned never to say never at this point in my career. If you told me that I would’ve been playing the Country Music Awards, I would have said never.”
[From People]
Is it sad? Or funny? I know Gwyneth-defenders say that she?s just a bit snooty and stuck up her own ass, but that she?s overall a good person. Maybe. Or maybe she?s just awful and completely terrible. Or something in between. I?ll buy that she?s a great mom, and that she?s in a bad marriage, and that she?s too uptight and snotty to consider a divorce, which she likely thinks is merely for peasants. I?ll also buy that her career is very funky at this point, and she might want to consider sticking to character roles or period pieces, something where she doesn?t have to be the centerpiece.
Also, about Goop and her drinking: “You just get really drunk all the time. Which is awesome! At least I did anyway, it’s not very professional. There’s a Bloody Mary at 10 a.m. and keep it going all day!” This explains so much.

Gwyneth Paltrow bugs me, and I’d prefer to hear from her once a week when she goops for the benefit of the less pampered masses and to move on. She’s all over the place promoting Country Strong, though, and that means multiple interviews and quoteables. You have to hand it to her, she can sing and she’s working hard for some semblance of a “comeback.” She did a great job on “Glee” and really brought it for the Country Music Awards.
One thing she can’t do is get her story straight, however. As many of you pointed out in Kaiser’s last story on the Goop, she told Good Housekeeping that her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, taught her to play guitar in preparation for Country Strong. She told the Daily Mail in November that he couldn’t be bothered, though.
On Good Morning America this week, Goop said of her husband that “He was of course supportive and amazing, but I really relied more [for role preparation] on my girlfriend singers like Faith [Hill] and Beyonce.” In an interview with Yahoo, Gwyneth elaborated on how Beyonce and Faith helped her play an alcoholic country singer:
“I drew inspiration from so many people in country music and also pop music as well. Faith Hill was also my height and so I studied her physicality and then I also studied a lot of Beyonce’s concert footage and… I went to her concert twice, just because she has that incredible superstar performance on stage and so I thought if I can just get a thimble full of what she has then maybe I can pull this role off.”
In her GMA interview, Robin Roberts asked Goop whether she would do a collaboration with Cee-Lo for their joint Saturday Night Live appearance on January 15. (Gwyneth performed a censored version of Cee-Lo’s “F-ck You” on “Glee”.) She said “We’re e-mailing each other. We don’t know where that’s going to go, but I’m such a big fan of Cee-Lo, he is so gorgeous and talented and amazing.”
Cee-Lo has confirmed that he recorded a new version of the song with Gwyneth over the weekend. He didn’t provide much detail, and just said “She sings like a natural.” That she does. Yahoo! has some new videos of Gwynnie performing live studio versions of two songs from Country Strong, and she sounds great. The question is - will she perform live with Cee-Lo on January 15? Probably, and that means that we’ll see more of Goop and her new squinty face in the weeks to come. Country Strong is out this Friday, January 7.

| Gwyneth Paltrow on Chris Martin: 'He's really appreciative of me.' | Added 13 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Gwyneth Paltrow is the February cover girl for Good Housekeeping. Which is unusual, because Gwyneth generally doesn?t deign to appear on any magazine cover other than the biggest fashion magazines. But she?s sellin? her drunken Britney Spears twang to the heartland y?all, and people in Kansas don?t read Harper?s Bazaar (in Goop?s mind). So? Goopy is sellin?, and she?s trying to talk about things she thinks hick peasants will enjoy. Which means talking AGAIN about her post-partum depression after she gave birth to Moses, and about how much Chris Martin loves her. Eat up, peasants.
Gwyneth Paltrow had a blissful time during daughter Apple’s first few months of life in summer 2004. Two years later, when son Moses was born, things couldn’t have been more different. The actress found herself living a nightmare.
“I felt like a zombie. I couldn’t access my heart. I couldn’t access my emotions. I couldn’t connect,” Paltrow, now 38, says in the February issue of Good Housekeeping.
“It was terrible, it was the exact opposite of what had happened when Apple was born. With her, I was on cloud nine. I couldn’t believe it wasn’t the same. I just thought it meant I was a terrible mother and a terrible person.”
It was Paltrow’s husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who first thought she might be suffering from postpartum depression.
“About four months into it, Chris came to me and said, ‘Something’s wrong. Something’s wrong,’ ” Paltrow recalls. “I kept saying, ‘No, no, I’m fine.’ But Chris identified it, and that sort of burst the bubble.”
Paltrow says the hardest part was acknowledging the problem. “I thought postpartum depression meant you were sobbing every single day and incapable of looking after a child,” she explains. “But there are different shades of it and depths of it, which is why I think it’s so important for women to talk about it. It was a trying time. I felt like a failure.”
With those dark days long behind her, Paltrow has rebooted her film career ? and begun a musical one ? with her role in Country Strong. Her husband, supportive as ever, helped her learn guitar for the part ? which came as no surprise.
“I can depend on him,” Paltrow says. “He makes me laugh. He’s really appreciative of me. You know, he makes me feel special.”
Although sometimes, she has to push him a little to talk about his feelings. “I definitely have to coax things out of him when we talk. You know, he’s British, so it’s a different lexicon totally,” Paltrow says. “But you have to communicate. Otherwise there’s no relationship.”
[From People]
Regarding Goopy?s post-partum issues: I don?t hate that she talks about it, and I?m only mildly annoyed that she brings it up in nearly every major interview. No, what really bothers me is that I get the feeling that despite her attitude that she?s ?speaking out? or ?educating? about post-partum depression, she is in fact making the issue all about HER, and trying to tell us about the one time in her life that she ?failed? (in her mind). Goopy is all about being holier-than-thou, and for being more elite than everybody else. In her mind, if she had post-partum issues, that is the one chink in her armor of smug superiority. She?s trying to relate to us peasants, all of us who are failing and being average and not elite on a daily basis. It feels cheap and inauthentic to me. But - it?s still all about her, of course.
Regarding what she said about Chris Martin: ?He’s really appreciative of me. You know, he makes me feel special.” ALL ABOUT HER. Also, I don?t buy it.
