Stepping out for an exciting event, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted at her very own book signing at Barnes & Noble in New York City on Thursday (April 14).
The ?Shallow Hal? babe looked cute in leather pants, flats, a multi-colored top and cardigan sweater as she sat down to sign copies of her cookbook, ?My Father?s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness.?
To launch her book, Gwyn recently threw a soiree in a West Village apartment in the Big Apple - during which she catered and cooked for over 60 people.
One of the party-goers included model Christy Turlington, who gushed about Paltrow by telling press, "Everybody who's in her life knows that she's an amazing cook. There's not a lot that she can't do, which I think is pretty clear from all of her work."

Another day, another ongoing Goop travesty. Why is it All Goop, All The Time lately? Don?t say it?s because she?s promoting her cookbook, because Goop has been all over the place for MONTHS. My take is that she just really, really wants to be seen as a super-A-list, in-demand celebrity again. She wants the best scripts, she wants Goop supporters lining the streets demanding her precious vocals, she wants the world to shudder at her ever goopy word, she wants attention and validation. Perhaps because she?s not getting it at home? Perhaps.
Anyway, Goop covers the new issue of Self Magazine. Now that I?m reading the interview excerpts and looking at the budget, peasant photo shoot - Goop scantily-clad, showing off her toned body against a bright white background - I?m wondering why it took Goop so long to do these kinds of health-fitness-type magazine covers. She?s in her favorite zone: she gets to talk about herself and how everything revolves around her (of course), she gets to exhaustively discuss her beloved juice fasts (her insipid, elitist constipation), and she gets to condescend to everyone about her magnificent self-obsession and superficiality. Because Gwyneth only cares what?s on the outside.
On her challenge areas:
“My butt! My butt, butt, butt. When Tracy met me, she said that I had a long, square butt that she was going to redesign, and I was, like, “Yeah? Good luck.” The amazing thing is, she was right! And it’s still changing!”
How she stays sane about her body:
“I’ve found what works for me. I know if I put in an hour and a half, five days a week, I’m good. If I’m on vacation and, like, “F— it, I’m not working out,” I know what to do when I get back. A lot of women think, “Oh, my God, I could never get there,” but I don’t think that’s true. It’s simply relative to how much you put into it.”
How consistent she stays, foodwise:
“I say I always eat right, but last night, I had fried clams, pasta with duck sausage and two glasses of red wine. When I want to lose, I eat less pasta, bread and potatoes. Before last year’s Iron Man 2 premiere, I did green juices and salads for three days.”
Gwyneth’s fitness secret:
“I do 45 minutes of cardio five days a week, because I like to eat. I also try for 45 minutes of muscular structure work, which is toning, realigning and lengthening. If I’m prepping for something or I’ve been eating a lot of pie, I do two hours a day, six days a week for two weeks.”
[From Self/Huffington Post]
?A long, square butt?? Gwyneth is so special, her ass isn?t even a normal shape. Take that, peasants, with your dumb, peasanty round butts!
By the way, you know what I think about when I see photos of Goop barely clothed? I think about how strange it is that she?s so utterly unsexy. Of course, there are times when I actually find her pretty, and there are many times when I admire how hard she works on her body, and what great shape she?s really in, but at the end of the day, I think the biggest problem may be that no one actually looks at her and thinks ?Beautiful, sexy, admirable woman.? We look at her and think, ?Wow, it took a lot of time, a lot of juice fasts and a lot of self-obsession to look like that. She must be really boring in real life.?
Another observation: Gwyneth is stuck in the 1990s, when she was at the height of her fame. That’s when she stopped growing as a person, that’s where she is mentally, and that’s why she’s still flat-ironing her hair and parting it down the middle. She’s incredibly dated, emotionally and physically.
Let?s see, other Goop news? Dame Gwyneth invited the New York Times to her ?dinner party? in which she prepared food for 60 people? all by herself! Go here to read the article, and here for Lainey?s coverage of it. Also, there was an odd piece in People Magazine this morning - it?s all about this dinner party too, but then there?s this odd little aside where People Mag asks Gwyneth if her family ever cooked her and she says, ?Never. Not once.? People: Not even a bowl of cereal for breakfast? “No,” she said. Yeah? Gwyneth is really sad. She is a sad person, and I feel bad for her. But she doesn?t want my pity, because she is so much better than me, and obviously, she has pity for ME because I?m such a peasant. It?s an odd conundrum.

Oh, happy day. You lucky bitches get TWO posts about Dame Gwyneth today. CB already covered some of the Goop stuff earlier today - Gwyneth talking about how much she works out while quietly judging you for not working out two hours every day while maintaining an 800 calorie diet (seriously, that?s the Tracy Anderson Method). I?ve just been watching Gwyneth?s appearance on Good Morning America, and rolling my eyes. My absolutely favorite part is the beginning where GMA compiled all of Gwyneth?s awards show singing appearances and it was like the producers were totally passive aggressive and chose the worst pieces to clip together. Hilarious. Take it away, GOOP!
I always forget how terrible her voice is. Like, her speaking voice. When I?m reading an interview with her or something, I can recall her snotty, annoying voice, but for some reason, the memory of it isn?t as bad as the reality of it. And of course her Very Dear Friend Mario Batali had to give her a little introduction. Dame Gwyneth thinks she?s winning us over. She thinks she?s the Kate Middleton of America (And Britain! And Spain!).
In other Goop news, she just gave an interview to USA Today (via Yahoo) to promote her book. It?s kind of epic? the piece is called ?Gwyneth Paltrow thinks she is ?deeply flawed??. Like, ZOMG BREAKING NEWS!!!!! Eat this up, peasants:
The 38-year-old actress - who has children Apple, six, and Moses, five, with husband Chris Martin - claims she is too much of a perfectionist and considers herself a “normal mother” like any other parent with a career.
She said: “One of my most negative qualities is the perfectionism that I have, and I think that I unconsciously project that because it comes from self-doubt and insecurity and that’s the ironic part. I’m so deeply flawed. I’m just a normal mother with the same struggles as any other mother who’s trying to do everything at once and trying to be a wife and maintain a relationship. There’s absolutely nothing perfect about my life, but I just try hard.”
The blonde beauty was once famous for her strict food regime, following a macrobiotic diet - focusing on grains and local vegetables while avoiding processed items - but she has now relaxed and admits her old eating habits now seem “alien” to her.
She added: “I haven’t been macrobiotic in seven years, so it seems sort of foreign at this point. Although, a lot of the principles, like trying to eat whole foods and homemade foods and local foods and seasonal foods, that’s still very much a part of the way I think about food.”
Gwyneth is releasing her own cookbook, entitled ‘My Father’s Daughter’, which is inspired by the meals she enjoyed with her late father Bruce Paltrow and she promises the recipes are ideal for family life.
She said in an interview with the USA Today newspaper: “It’s American family food; it’s very accessible and easy to make. It’s mostly on the healthier side, although there are definitely some guilty pleasures in there.”
[From USA Today via Yahoo]
What?s with all of these women claiming to be ?perfectionists? lately? Emma Watson did it too - Emma dropped out of college because she was so ?perfectionist? and now Gwyneth is giving the same excuse (in a ham-fisted way) for explaining why she?s such pretentious, sanctimonious bitch. But seriously, analyze this statement: ?One of my most negative qualities is the perfectionism that I have, and I think that I unconsciously project that because it comes from self-doubt and insecurity and that’s the ironic part.? First: She?s only ironically perfect! Second: I think she?s trying to say that she tries to come across as so (ironically) perfect because she?s deeply insecure? Really, Goop? Or is it that you suffer from hyper-narcissism and you just pretend to be ?flawed? because you think more peasants will buy your book? Oh, Goop. You are a riddle wrapped in enigma, covered in pretension, dipped in sanctimony, left out to dry on the rack of inanity and then packaged in vitamin deficiency.

Surprising news alert: Gwyneth Paltrow is “deeply flawed.” As if at a job interview, Gwyneth claims one of her biggest negative qualities is her perfectionism which is brought on by self-doubt and insecurity.
?I’m so deeply flawed. I’m just a normal mother with the same struggles as any other mother who’s trying to do everything at once and trying to be a wife and maintain a relationship. “There’s absolutely nothing perfect about my life, but I just try hard.”
She added: “I haven’t been macrobiotic in seven years, so it seems sort of foreign at this point. Although, a lot of the principles, like trying to eat whole foods and homemade foods and local foods and seasonal foods, that’s still very much a part of the way I think about food.?
So you see, Gwyneth Paltrow is like every other woman just trying to make a life in this crazy world. Apart from those millions of dollars, movie and book deals and famous singer husband, she’s just like us! But not too like us. That would be gross.

Enjoying a night out together in London, England, Gwyneth Paltrow and Matthew Morrison were recently spotted living it up in the UK.
The ?Country Strong? singer and her ?Glee? pal did their best to avoid the paparazzi attention, but the sneaky photogs caught up with them anyway throughout their night out on the town.
Aside from the enjoyable London outing, Miss Paltrow is reportedly in talks to launch a magazine based around her love of food.
Insiders told the New York Post?s Page Six that Gwyn is currently in negotiations with publishers Heart Corporation to expand her brand into the ?literary world.?

Dame Gwyneth Paltrow has deigned to speak to the peasants once again, this time shilling her cookbook in an interview with Ladies? Home Journal. I wonder what Gwyneth really thinks about LHJ?s readers? That they are nice people, obviously, but that they are truly not as special or ladylike or talented as The Goop? Probably. Anyway, my favorite part of this short interview is Gwyneth talking about ?the biggest misconception? about her. Goop deigns to say that the biggest misconception is that she?s ?uptight? and then cries, ?There’s nothing uptight about me! I’ve got this ice-blonde reputation and that’s just not me. I do silly things in public all the time, like hosting Saturday Night Live, or I’ll go out with friends and have a good time. I try to live my life to the fullest even if it means making a fool of myself.? Wow, she really wants to sell this cookbook, doesn?t she?
My cookbook is . . . .A way for me to honor my dad [director Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002]. I called it My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness because we learned how to cook together. But it’s strange. The other day I was thinking, Why did I write a cookbook? And, Why did I say yes to singing at the Country Music Awards? I’ll look back at a lot of things I’ve done and say, “How did I have the guts to do that?”
When it comes to food . . . . I’m the classic Jewish mother. I’m always making way too much, and I’m preoccupied with whether people have had enough to eat. When someone walks into my house, the first thing I do is make sure they’re fed.
The biggest misconception about me . . . . That I’m uptight. There’s nothing uptight about me! I’ve got this ice-blonde reputation and that’s just not me. I do silly things in public all the time, like hosting Saturday Night Live, or I’ll go out with friends and have a good time. I try to live my life to the fullest even if it means making a fool of myself.
I always avoid . . . . Junk food. But if someone gave me a basket filled with stinky, stinky cheese I’d be very, very happy.
On overeating . . . . There’s the me that will have a salad, a bowl of pasta and a glass of wine, and then there’s the other me that will have four glasses of wine, fried zucchini, pasta, chicken parmigiana and dessert. I try not to do that other version too much. I was at a party having dinner next to Mario Batali and he was like, “You’re the only person I know who eats more than me.”
My life motto . . . Try your hand at whatever you’re passionate about. I’ve taken whatever little bit of talent I was born with and worked it to death.
[From Ladies Home Journal]
Ugh. There?s something sad about the way Gwyneth has been hustling lately. I mean, I would understand it if Gwyneth was just trying to get her acting career back on track - that would be one thing, and her attempt would be long overdue. But it seems like Gwyneth is playing an entirely different game. She acts like everybody always thinks so highly of her acting skills, and we were just begging her to reveal more of her interests so we could perhaps share them with her. She wants to be accepted as an actress (although she thinks she?s still an A-list actress, when she?s really not), she wants to be accepted as a world-class cook, a singer, a lifestyle expert, all of it. That?s what I don?t understand: who died and made Gwyneth the new Martha Stewart? And why does she think any of us are interested in her Beyonce/Martha-fication? Does Gwyneth not realize that the overwhelming majority of us don?t care, and that there?s a growing number of us who actively think she?s a massive joke?
And that just makes me sad again. Because in Goop?s mind, she?s the best. She?s nailing all of this, and the peasants are eating it all up. Goop?s view of herself is extremely skewed from reality.

I feel like such a dork for admitting this out in the open and everything, but I really like that show Who Do You Think You Are? It?s an American version of a show that I believe started in Ireland?? Anyway, Lisa Kudrow executive produces it and she brings some really fascinating people in, and they spend an hour?s show researching their ancestry through public records, databases, old newspapers, whatever (and whoever) they can get their hands on. Earlier this week, I mentioned in passing that I had seen Kim Cattrall?s and it was crazy - her grandfather was a bigamist! But yeah, I feel like a dork. When I?m home on a Friday night (too often), I watch it while folding my laundry. It?s like my thing now.
So tonight?s episode should be a doozy! DAME GWYNETH is the celebrity! Oh, you know it?s going to be posh and brilliant, and you know Gwyneth is descended from, like, the best people ever. There are no peasants in her background! No ?laborers? or ?janitors?. Gwyneth comes from a long line of Important People. According to the previews:
Gwyneth Paltrow has discovered a fascinating family fact while tracing her roots for hit U.S. TV show Who Do You Think You Are? - her great great great grandfather was a beloved Jewish holy man.
The actress tracked her ancestors back to Barbados while taping the show, which airs in America on Friday night (01Apr11) - but the biggest surprise came when she returned to New York and discovered her great great great grandfather was a “master of Kabbalah” - the mystic Jewish offshoot Paltrow studies today.
Documents show he was “a miracle worker” who once saved his community from a raging fire through his faith.
She said, “This is all kinda blowing my mind.”
[From Contact Music]
Don?t you get it? Gwyneth is so wonderful that even her ancestors are better than your ancestors. God, I can?t wait! I bet she cries when she realizes just how special and elite her relatives were. Here?s the preview:
