I?m really glad that my theory about Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen?s breakup didn?t create some kind of fan-war. I wasn?t making some kind of judgment on Rachel or on ladies in general, I was talking about this case specifically, and I still think that Rachel and Michael split up because he was fine with the way things were ? dating, living together, nothing formal ? and she wanted marriage and babies and a more ?traditional? arrangement. And now here?s People Magazine confirming my theory ? they say Michael didn?t want any more kids (he has a teenage daughter with Kate Beckinsale) and he wants to focus on his career.
There’s no bad blood between Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen. The exes simply “have different visions for the future,” a source tells PEOPLE about the pair, whose split was confirmed on Wednesday after two years of dating.
“Rachel wants to settle down and is dreaming of having a family. Michael always seemed content with their relationship. Since he already has a daughter [Lily, 14, with Kate Beckinsale], he feels no need to have more children. He wants to focus on his career.”
“They still have some contact and are friendly,” the source adds, but it was their differences that eventually led to the demise of their relationship.
“They tried to work things out, but at the end they just couldn’t agree,” the insider says. “It caused some frustration and they thought it was better to go separate ways.”
McAdams, 34, and Sheen, 45, first met on the set of Woody Allen’s 2010 romantic comedy Midnight in Paris. They acknowledged their romance in 2011 by walking arm-in-arm at the Cannes Film Festival.

I don?t really get fan-girly about Rachel McAdams most of the time ? I like her a lot but I?ve just never considered her one of my main Celebrities To Love ? but I think Michael is making a huge mistake by letting Rachel go. SHE is the girl a man wants to marry, you know? This is the girl for settling down and having babies. And I?ll say it ? I think less of Michael because he?s letting her go and not putting up a fight. She?s worth more than that. God, I feel like writing a romantic comedy about this. This is the part where Rachel cries in the bathtub while listening to Adele. In the second act, she meets Tom Hardy/Eric Bana/ Joseph Gordon Levitt and they have a really hot one night stand and then there?s confusion and weirdness the morning after and they don?t reunite until the third act when he proposes and we tie this business up with a wedding. Also: in my rom-com, she should either be a redhead or a brunette. I?m tired of this blonde crap. It doesn?t suit her.

Pack it in you guys. True love is canceled! Every cute couple in Hollywood is breaking up. Yesterday it was Michelle Williams and Jason Segel, and now Us Weekly provides us with the double whammy ? Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen are over too. BOO. Rachel and Michael have been together since the Toronto Film Festival in 2010 ? that was when they were first seen together, looking couple-y, although they had worked together on Midnight In Paris months earlier. And now they?re over!
Rachel McAdams is back on the market. The actress has ended her real-life romance with Midnight in Paris costar Michael Sheen, a source confirms to Us Weekly. McAdams, 34, and Sheen, 44, took their romance public in October 2010 after meeting on the naturally romantic set of Woody Allen’s film.
“Michael and I didn’t get together while we were filming Midnight in Paris, which I feel strongly about not doing when I’m working. We became quite good friends, which I think is a great way to start,” McAdams told The Sunday Telegraph’s Stella magazine in January 2012. “I felt very blessed to have made a Woody Allen film in Paris together.”
The Vow actress also shared that her most important relationship is good communication. “You need to trust each other and be able to talk to each other and be best friends.”
During her relationship with the British actor, McAdams remained steadfastly devoted to making it work. “Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart — we rack up a lot of air miles — but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not,” she told Stella.
The Canadian star’s last serious relationship prior to Sheen was with her Notebook costar Ryan Gosling. The two began dating in 2005 and were briefly engaged, but called it off in 2007. Sheen had an eight-year relationship with actress Kate Beckinsale from 1995 until 2003; the two share daughter Lily, 14.

Here?s my take/opinion: Michael has an almost pathological resistance to marriage (Kate Beckinsale always said he flat-out refused to marry her), and Rachel is the kind of woman who wants a relationship to follow a traditional course ? romance, dating, then marriage. My take is that Rachel got sick of waiting for the ring and she realized he was never going to propose, so she ended things. Maybe that?s not what happened? but it?s my take.

Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen have been together for about two and a half years. Perhaps longer. Many assumed that they got together when they filmed Midnight at Paris, but Rachel insisted in interviews that ?every relationship? she?s ever had with a costar has begun after they worked together. So that means she wasn?t putting out with Ryan Gosling while they filmed The Notebook either, I guess. Where was I? Ah, yes. Rachel and Michael Sheen. I?ve had the feeling for a while now that Rachel would really like Michael to propose, and that he?s just one of those ?Why Do We Need A Piece of Paper To Prove Our Love, Baby?? kind of dudes. Rachel just seems? like she wants the piece of paper. Michael does not the piece of paper historically. He and Kate Beckinsale never married (despite her desire to marry), and he?s had other long-term relationships that never involved a ring too. So what makes Rachel think she can change him? According to Star, Rachel is trying to get him to propose so that her relationship with his daughter will improve??
Though Rachel McAdams seems to be very much in love with boyfriend of two years Michael Sheen, there?s trouble in paradise. The 34-year-old beauty is said to be hoping Michael, 43, will propose soon so that she?ll be more accepted by his family ? especially his skeptical 13-year-old daughter, Lily, who apparently gives Rachel plenty of attitude.
?Lily has a hard time looking at Rachel as a stepmom,? an insider tells Star. ?Rachel believes that if she and Michael got married, Lily would be nicer.?
Lily?s mother, actress Kate Beckinsale, 39, was Michael?s partner for eight years, and they never tied the knot ? something Kate seems to regret. She reportedly told Rachel to put her foot down with Michael and demand a ring, something Kate herself never did.

Yeah, his daughter is 13. ?Skeptical? comes with the Tween-Teen Handbook, and trust me, it?s just going to get worse. The Handbook also includes ?moody, distant, ill-tempered, tempermental, hyper-emotional and boundary-ignoring.? It?s not about Rachel, it?s just Lily?s age. And I don?t even think that Kate Beckinsale has anything to do with this ? by all accounts, she and Michael have a good relationship and they have no issues co-parenting their daughter, so I don?t think this is a case where Kate is bad-mouthing daddy?s new girlfriend, you know? Kate probably does have sympathy for Rachel. Kate was with Michael for eight years! Out of everyone, she?s the one who really knows his marriage-phobia.

These are photos from the TIFF premiere of To the Wonder, a Terrence Malick romance/drama ?centered on a man who reconnects with a woman from his hometown after his marriage to a European woman falls apart.? Rachel McAdams plays the hometown girl, Olga Kurylenko plays the European woman (I?m assuming). The film also features Ben Affleck and Javier Bardem, neither of whom were at the TIFF premiere. So let?s just discuss the girls, shall we?
Rachel wore this lop-sided, one-sleeved Elie Saab gown which I kind of hate. I almost always dislike half-and-half dresses, where one side is conservative and the other side is all ?SKIN!? I think the people at Elie Saab should have just decided whether the dress should have sleeves or not, instead of looking like they just ?forgot? to add the additional sleeve. I also dislike the too-high neckline – I feel strangled on her behalf. The color is good, though. It would have been better if Rachel would go with a darker hair color. I guess we should be happy that she?s not still trying to make that horrible, too-light blonde work, but this color isn?t some big improvement. Rachel is a beautiful woman ? it takes real effort to make her look this bland and unappealing.
Olga Kurylenko wore Emilio Pucci ? I actually thought THIS was the Elie Saab. It looks like Elie Saab, right? Anyhoodle, I kind of love this dress. I love a long sleeve, I love some sparkle done well, and I love this color on a brunette. I was paying attention to Olga?s recent promotional tour through Venice, and I have to say? she did not wear anything half as cute as this dress.

Adding to the pool of sexually-charged drama, Brian De Palma has unveiled the teaser trailer for his forthcoming film ?Passion.?
Starring Rachel McAdams, Noomi Rapace, Paul Anderson and Karoline Herfurth, the movie is about a young businesswoman who plots murderous revenge after her boss and mentor steals her idea.
Per the synopsis, ?The offices of a prominent multinational corporation is the setting for this story of a power struggle between two contemporary women. Isabelle has unlimited admiration for her direct superior, Christine, a woman well-schooled in the ways of power. Christine enjoys holding sway over Isabelle, leads her one step at a time and ever more deeply into a game of seduction and manipulation, of dominance and servitude. The game is played for keeps, and there is no turning back.
While no release date has been announced just yet, ?Passion? is scheduled to make the rounds at both the Toronto Film Festival and Venice Film Festival this fall.

On her way to film scenes for her latest movie, Rachel McAdams was spotted meeting up with her "About Time" crew members at London's Paddington Station in London, England on Friday (June 15).
After grabbing a bag of sushi, "The Vow" actress made her way to the waiting train wearing a loose green sweater with jeans and brown boots as she prepared to take on the first day of filming.
Rachel assembled with her co-stars and crew to shoot scenes on a moving train from London to Bristol, where she will star as Mary in the new Richard Curtis film.
The 33-year-old actress has replaced Zooey Deschanel who was originally cast as the leading role but had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts.
Expected to hit theaters some time in 2013, the time-travel romance also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Bill Nighy, Tom Hollander, Margot Robbie, Lydia Wilson and Vanessa Kirby.

Earlier in the week Rachel and her "The Vow" co-star Channing Tatum lost out on "Best Kiss" at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, losing the bid to "Breaking Dawn" duo Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
Making light of the real-life lovers win, Channing jokingly told MTV News, ?The Twilight kids always sweep it."

Choosing paper over plastic, Rachel McAdams was spotted getting a little shopping done with beau Michael Sheen in Los Angeles, California on Saturday (April 21).
Carrying a couple bags each, "The Vow" actress looked stunning in a simple red dress and matching flats as she smiled and chatted it up with her "Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans" boyfriend and, despite recent rumors, there was no sign of an engagement ring.
After falling in love on set of "Midnight in Paris" in 2011, the couple reportedly wants to exchange vows there, as a source told press, "Michael is planning on proposing to Rachel very soon. They both want to take their relationship to the next level. They are madly in love and want to start a family together."
Getting hitched seems to be in Rachel's plans, as she recently said, "(Getting married and having children) is something I've always wanted. A friend just got married to a guy she'd known for six years and had been living with for a long time. She was such a ball of nerves."
The 33-year-old's view of marriage has changed over time, of which she admitted, "She loves the guy and at first I was thinking, 'Isn't this part just the formality?' Then I realised there's a big difference between whispering sweet nothings when it's just the two of you and getting up and making the promise in front of all the people you love, who will be in your life for the rest of your life."
Rachel - who was previously engaged to Ryan Gosling - just might be ready to make that promise of her own with Michael who has a 13-year-old daughter with former girlfriend Kate Beckinsale.
