Here are some photos from last night?s Insterstellar premiere in London. It just occurred to me yesterday, as I was covering Anne Hathaway?s Telegraph interview, that some of these actors might be aiming for Oscar nominations. Annie clearly is. Jessica Chastain probably wouldn?t mind, but she?s not going to go all Hathaway for a nomination. And Matthew McConaughey? Alright alright alright.
As for the fashion, I?m trying to decide if the London styles are better or worse than the LA premiere looks. I kind of think London had the better style overall, but I still love to nitpick, so let?s get to it. Annie is wearing Wes Gordon with Charlotte Olympia platform heels. I feel like this is an Angelina Jolie-esque look, right? Angelina has been skewing more conservative lately, she loves a good sleeve and a boxy waist, and she loves dark metallics. If only this Wes Gordon dress was more sacky, then it would totally be a Jolie look. As it is? I kind of think this is too matronly on Annie. She?s only 31! Something nice: her makeup is much better here than at the LA premiere. And I like the emerald earrings (also a Jolie-esque touch). Also: Annie has a great mani, if you can make it out.
As for Chastain, her dress is Saint Laurent. I feel like she?s worn this dress or a version very close to it recently. Maybe at Cannes this year? I guess I?m remembering Chastain in that lovely violet Elie Saab in Cannes, although that look was WORLDS better than this Saint Laurent. Her boobs look weird in this gown and she?s carrying herself like she?s knocked up.
Matthew brought his wife Camila Alves, who rocked a hot white pantsuit with a built-in cape. I don?t have the ID on this. Maybe it?s Dolce & Gabbana (the McConaughey family wears a lot of D&G), but I doubt it. This is one of the best looks I?ve seen on Camila in a while. Usually her style is kind of? glossy beauty queen. Not on this carpet!

Here are some new photos of Anne Hathaway in London last night and today. Last night she attendd the Maison Assouline flagship store opening and looked very friendly and touchy-feely with Mr. Valentino. So? I guess she wasn?t worried about getting Ebola from Valentino? For the record, Annie?s rep told The Daily Mail that Annie didn?t ?refuse? to shake hands with an Argentine journalist because of Ebola concerns ? the rep said: ?That is nonsense ? she wasn’t shaking anyone’s hands because she was coming down with a cold and didn’t want to get anyone sick.? Okay, but then why was Annie so touchy-feely with costars and Valentino? Something doesn?t add up here, you know?
Meanwhile, Annie has a new interview with The Telegraph, which you can read here. Her new thing is ?woe is Annie? and talking about how sick she is. Some highlights:
Her spacesuit was leaky during Interstellar: ?It was a scene where my character becomes submerged in water and trapped, so I go down in the water expecting it?s probably not going to be warm but I will at least be dry. But after about 10 seconds the suit is totally full of water. I don?t know what?s happening or why, but everybody is hurting and cold so I don?t say anything about it and wonder, ?How long can this last?? Well, it did last and I became tingly and couldn?t feel anything and things were starting to get a bit hazy around the edges. I thought Chris is going to be way more annoyed if I die of hypothermia than he is if I speak up about it and maybe delay filming for five minutes. So I threw caution to the wind and told him what was going on and he said, ?OK, let?s roll right now.? And we were done. I was just really, really, really cold and it?s not that Chris sent me off to get warmed up. Wimps don?t last long on his set.?
Her journey: ?I?m always nervous I?m going to mess up,? she says. ?One of the most important parts of my journey is that I have embarrassed myself again and again and I have failed again and again and eventually that gives you strength of character, so I feel a little bit more comfortable now.?
Her husband: ?I?m very fortunate that my husband has a job that allows him to travel and kind of make his own schedule, so he travels with me whenever possible. Sometimes that?s not possible and whenever that happens, we have a rule that we aren?t apart for more than two weeks. When we got married I thought it was a great party, but I honestly thought we were doing it more for tradition and I wasn?t prepared for the radical shift that my heart was going to have.?
Her ex Raffaello Follieri: ?I got through my pain the way I always deal with unpleasant things and that?s to make a joke of it.?
She claims she has never ?gone Hollywood?: ?I just went to my 10 year college reunion, and it was awesome,? she enthuses. ?I stayed really close with my tight group of friends from college and there?s about ten of us and I still see most of them every day, and I am going to see a bunch tonight actually, and so it?s not like I left college behind when I left; I took the best parts with me. Going back it was nice to see people I had lost touch with as well but after a certain part of the evening …,? she laughs, ?I don?t really remember much.?

Woe is Annie! She almost got hypothermia and no one was looking out for her and she was so tough and brave and professional. ALL THE OSCARS PLS. As for the whole thing about how she?s never ?gone Hollywood? ? gurl, you can still have friends from college and be a Hollywood drama queen. Those two things aren?t mutually exclusive.
She also talks about the science-heavy dialogue in the Interstellar script and how worried she was that she wouldn?t be able to memorize it and even if she did, that no one would understand it. I kind of wonder if Interstellar really is going to resonate with audiences or whether it will just be a snooze. Hm.

She?s been hard at work promoting her forthcoming flick ?Interstellar? (due in theaters November 5) and Anne Hathaway told People magazine that her first day on the job was pretty intense.
The ?Les Miserables? lady explained, "When I stepped on the set, I geeked out. And when I put on the space suit, I freaked out!"
Hathaway added, ?The nerdery was out of control on this movie. It's like a real treat to have a practical set to interact with. It helped us escape into the world of believing it."
Furthermore, ?The space suit was my favorite costume I had ever worn. This one was the closest I've ever felt to feeling like a kid at Halloween!"

I?m not OCD, nor am I clean freak. I like to work in a controlled mess ? things may seem disorganized around me, but I have my own system. But as I get older, I do get more germ-phobic. I?m really good about washing my hands as soon as I come back from any excursion and I often shower twice a day. As I get older, the less I like casual physical contact too. Unless I?m formally meeting someone for the first time, I don?t like to shake hands and I?m not a big hugger either. So? I?m kind of feeling like an Anne Hathaway Apologist in this situation. Apparently, Anne refused to shake hands with a Brazilian journalist during the Interstellar junket. She refused to shake his hand because of Ebola. Fair or unfair?
Anne Hathaway just gave more fuel to the Hatha-haters. An Argentinian journalist flew to Los Angeles to attend a screening of the star?s new movie, Interstellar, and was snubbed because the actress was afraid she would catch Ebola.
Each one of the film?s stars shook Alexis Puig?s hand after he interviewed them ? everyone except Hathaway, that is. The offended journalist took to Twitter to air his grievances against the Oscar winner.
Puig tweeted, ?Anne Hathaway no me dio la mano ?por miedo al ebola? #soyunperiodistadeltercermundo,? which translates to ?Anne Hathaway didn?t shake my hand because she was she was afraid of ebola #I?mAThirdWorldJournalist.?
Soon after, Puig followed up with a tweet describing how Interstellar?s other A-list cast members were more than gracious. Instead of rebuffing the journalist, they embraced him. He tweeted, ?Christopher Nolan, Matthew McConaughey y Jessica Chastain estuvieron geniales en las entrevistas (y ninguno me nego la mano) Toma Anne!?
Translation: ?Christopher Nolan, Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain were genial in the interviews (and none of them denied me their hands). Take that, Anne!?
So far, no cases of Ebola have been reported in Argentina. When Puig returned to Argentina, he turned to Twitter once more to give the Les Miserables actress another jab. He posted, ?Gracias a todos por sus comentarios. Por suerte ya estoy en Buenos Aires, Argentina (ciudad y pas libre de Ebola) ?y por casa Anne?,? which translates to, ?Thank you to everyone for your comments. Luckily I?m already in Buenos Aires, Argentina (city and country free of Ebola)?and at home Anne??

Here?s my question: did Annie refuse to shake hands with EVERY journalist she met and this is just the one guy who complained, or did she single out this one ?third world? journalist because she associated ?foreign? with ?Ebola?? I would excuse it if she refused to shake hands with everybody ? it?s not just Ebola, it?s also flu season and everyone is particularly germy this time of year. Actors doing these junkets are probably going through several bottles of Purell a day because they shake so many hands. But yeah? this doesn?t sound good for Annie. ?Third world? does not equal ?Ebola.?

Here are some photos from last night?s LA premiere of Interstellar. It had the feel of a big red carpet but there really weren?t many fashion-y people there beyond the principal actors. So I?m just focusing on the stars. Let?s start with Anne Hathaway, whose hair is really starting to look worlds better, right? She did the pixie-ish cut for too long after Les Mis. I?m really happy with her hair now ? so much softer, so much better for her face. Annie?s dress is Richard Nicholl ? pretty color, but kind of snooze. Lots of girls wore satin slipdresses back in the 1990s and I?m okay with that look making a comeback. Annie?s jewelry is James Banks Designs and she really wants it to be photographed. Um, doesn?t Anne?s husband design jewelry?
Here?s Jessica Chastain in black Givenchy. I like her styling a lot more than I like the dress. Jessica does tend to have red carpet issues usually, but there?s nothing awful here. The dress is a bit matronly from the front and ?1980s music video girl? from the side with those lace panels.
Here?s Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves. He?s in Dolce & Gabbana and she?s in Rubin Singer. Why does MM look so out of it these days? It?s like he refuses to step on a red carpet without taking ten huge bong hits beforehand.
And finally, here?s our boyfriend Wes Bentley, looking beautiful and healthy with his wife Jacqui Swedberg.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed a good Anne Hathaway press tour! In addition to covering the November issue of ELLE UK, Anne also covers the American edition of Harper?s Bazaar. The editorial blows. Sorry, Bazaar. Anne is pretty, but she?s styling-dependent and Bazaar styled her to look like some kind of Katy Perry-Audrey Hepburn hybrid ? you can see the slideshow here. In the interview, Anne talks extensively about the 2013 awards season and all of the backlash against her twee-ness, Annie-ness and Oscar Biscuit. Here are some highlights:
Dealing with Hathahate: “What are we supposed to do?pretend like it didn’t happen? People treated me a certain way. But I’ve grown from it. This whole thing has made me a way more compassionate and loving person. And I don’t feel sorry for myself.”
The awards season for Les Mis: “I damaged my health during Les Mis, which I didn’t want to mention in case it seemed like I was courting sympathy,” she says. She was exhausted, flu-ridden, and frustrated about the lack of interest in the character and in the issue of sexual slavery. So when Hathaway won the award for Best Supporting Actress, she was “weirdly presentational. One of the things I’ve been accused of is being inauthentic. And they were right?but not for the reason they thought. I couldn’t tie this moment to what I really wanted to say. And that’s on me, because Lupita did it.”
Learning about the backlash: ?Punched in the gut. Shocked and slapped and embarrassed. Even now I can feel the shame. I was in crisis. Now I’d be fine. I really would be. I’d let it roll off my back, but at the time I was still partly Fantine. I was still identifying with being a victim.”
The Oscar dress controversy: “I found a dress, like a month before. It was the most beautiful, reflective, shimmery dress?rainbows were going to dance off me.” However, the day before the ceremony, Hathaway was called by a tearful stylist’s assistant saying that the dress had already been worn. So she regrouped, choosing a gown by Valentino. “I love the house, and he’s my buddy. One of my favorite people in the entire world. It all made sense.” But that night, at Oscar rehearsals, her Les Misrables castmate Amanda Seyfried showed Hathaway her Alexander McQueen dress. “And it’s a lilac version of my dress. Two completely different designers.” At 10 o’clock the night before the Oscars, “I didn’t have a friggin’ dress, which I normally wouldn’t care about ?” Long pause. “But I really needed a dress, and everybody hates me, and I just really needed a dress.”
Directors didn?t want her: “I had directors say to me, ‘I think you’re great. You’re perfect for this role, but I don’t know how audiences will accept you because of all this stuff, this baggage.??

Anne Hathaway covers the November issue of Elle UK. I actually can?t remember the last time Annie did a major magazine cover/interview. It?s been more than a year, I?m quite sure. I think maybe the last time was during her January/February 2013 Oscar campaign? According to our records, yes ? she covered the February 2013 issue of Harper?s Bazaar. It helps nowadays that Annie A) has something big to promote (Interstellar) and B) she?s given all us a big break from the Hathamadness. For the record, I?ve always been a Hathaway Apologist. Even when she was annoying, I still enjoyed her. Speaking of those old ?annoying Annie? days, Annie spoke to Elle about how fame really messed with her head:
What she?s learned: ?The thing I?ve learned this past year is to chill out. I think when you?re young and struggling to find yourself, there?s something alluring about the idea of being tortured. Life for me these days is a lot about letting the unknown be wonderful, and letting myself feel safe.?
Marrying Adam Shulman: ?The first year of my marriage was insane. So much happened so fast, and we didn’t get to focus on just being married until about a year in. So now, it’s just about letting myself feel safe. There was a part of me that I was keeping in reserve, and when I got married, something shifted?That question of, ?How long?s this gonna last?? is off the table. And when you?re not worried about that, there?s space to just be silly.?
Fame: “This fame thing? F–ked me up for a really long time. I didn’t know how to do it; I didn’t know how to engage with it; it stressed me out. And people would say, ‘You just have to be yourself,’ and I was like, ‘But I don’t know who that is yet!’”
Working with Matthew McConaughey: “The man speaks in poetry. I remember once while we were filming, something got screwed up, and he said to me: ‘Look, we can get upset about this, or we can go with it and have a great story for the rest of our lives.’”
Annie doesn?t need your validation: “I’ve realized that don’t need validation from anybody. At all. I’m not sitting here now worrying, ‘What do you think of me?’ With all due respect, you seem like a lovely lady, but I don’t need you, or anyone else, to like me. And that’s so liberating. It’s a big reveal, man.”

I?m not saying I know Anne Hathaway or her innermost needs and desires, but she?s always struck me as a capable, professional but neurotic woman with something of a diva streak. She doesn?t NEED people to like her, and she?s perfectly capable of understanding that logically and rationally. But in practice? she?s still the same needy, neurotic, LOOK AT ME person she always was. Remember, this is the woman who flashed her biscuit as part of her Oscar campaign. NEVER FORGET!

Getting to work on the set of their latest film, Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro performed some tai chi in Brooklyn, NY this afternoon (September 18).
The incredibly talented pair shot scenes for their upcoming project ?The Intern,? and in the current scene the Oscar-winning actresses seemed to be a little out of place in the group of athletes.
Per the synopsis, the film follows a fashion website crew that brings in an elderly intern (portrayed by De Niro).
In addition to Anne and Robert, the film stars Nat Wolff, Rene Russo, Adam DeVine and Reid Scott. It?s set to hit theaters on September 25, 2015.

Continuing production on her upcoming film ?The Intern,? Anne Hathaway showed up on a Manhattan set on Thursday afternoon (September 4).
The ?Dark Knight Rises? dame wore a retro-style red dress and 1960s hairstyle as she filmed scenes outside a New York City office building and attracted plenty of attention.
Also starring Robert DeNiro, Rene Russo and Nat Wolffe, ?The Intern? is slated to hit theaters on September 25th, 2015.
Per the synopsis, ?This is a hilarious comedy about a fashion website that decides to bring in an elderly intern, and all the generation gap drama that comes with it.?

Kicking off another day of work, Anne Hathaway was busy on the set of "The Intern" in New York City on Wednesday (July 9).
The Brooklyn native donned a navy and white checked coat and dark pants as she shot scenes for the comedy on Whitehall Street.
Due out in September of next year, the film also stars Nat Wolff, Robert De Niro and Renee Russo.
Per the synopsis, "The Intern" is described as: ?a comedy about a fashion website that brings in an elderly intern.?
