Here are some photos of Scarlett Johansson out and about last night for the Friends Of Rockaway 2nd annual Hurricane Sandy fundraiser at Hudson Terrace. This is a rare outing – she’s been very quiet for months now. Part of it was that she just wanted some peace and time off while she was in the last months of her pregnancy, then she wanted to spend time with her newborn daughter Rose Dorothy without any interference. I like that about Scarlett ? she really is able to disappear when she wants to. I think she looks good here, although I don’t like her hair.
Anyway, there were a few pieces of ScarJo news this week! TMZ reported that Scarlett was in LA last weekend, looking at some real estate. Scarlett has been living in NYC for years now, although she obviously travels a lot for work. But sources told TMZ that Scarlett is looking to buy a place in LA again, after selling the home she shared with Ryan Reynolds several years ago. She looked at a $2.9 Los Feliz place but she didn?t like it, so she?s still shopping around. I?m sort of surprised that she?s not buying a place in Paris? I thought that was the idea of getting with Romain Dauriac? They would live in Paris and New York and it would be very intellectual and amazing. Hm. Meanwhile, Scarlett did a ?20 Questions with?? feature with Elle Magazine.
1. Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party? Bette Davis, David Bowie, and Bono.
2. What brings you the greatest joy? My family. And Key lime pie.
3. What item in your closet do you wear the most? Black high-waisted jeans.
4. What movie had the greatest ending? Citizen Kane.
5. What song instantly puts you in a good mood? “Jump Around” by House of Pain. (I’m a kid from the ’90s.)
6. What should every woman try at least once in her life? Acupuncture.
7. What is your fantasy itinerary? A three-month tour of India.
8. What quote do you live by? “Live! Life’s a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!” ?Auntie Mame
9. What is the best gift you’ve ever received? Woody Allen’s glasses.
10. What is on your perennial to-do list? Moving.
11. What is your greatest indulgence? Taking a long bath followed by a long nap.
12. What can you not miss on TV? I Love Lucy reruns or House Hunters International.
13. What is on your nightstand? Moisturizers, a glass of water, my phone, a La Leche League book, and a limited-edition collector’s edition of Dolce & Gabbana The One fragrance.
14. What makes you cry? Thoughtfulness and my sister’s sentimentality.
15. What makes you laugh? My boyfriend [Romain Dauriac] and Louis CK.
16. Who are your heroes? Volunteer workers and Elizabeth Warren.
17. What is your go-to karaoke song? “New York State of Mind.”
18. What are your pet peeves? Nail biting, knuckle cracking.
19. How did you make your first dollar? Selling tickets to my family for a “show”?aka me performing in my bedroom.
20. What is one thing you wish you had known when you were younger? To invest in Apple.
[From Marie Claire]
Damn, ScarJo and I are very similar. Cracked knuckles = wince. Louis CK makes me laugh. I too get stuck on House Hunters International marathons. I too love Elizabeth Warren. And I keep a glass of a water and some face cream on my bedside table. GET OUT OF MY HEAD, SCARJO. No, but really? who wants to eat dinner with Bono? Nope. And did Woody Allen give her his glasses?!

Scarlett Johansson has been quiet for months. She did a bare-bones publicity tour for Lucy (did Lucy even have a real premiere?!) and then she just relaxed in the last four or five months of her pregnancy. The last time we wrote about ScarJo was the birth announcement ? she welcomed baby girl Rose Dorothy back in early September (Virgo baby). I?m still not entirely sure where she is. I think she?s probably in Manhattan or the Hamptons (or moving between the two). Anyway, Scarlett is already thinking about her next career move. And for one of the few big-time movie actresses, you?d think that Scarlett would be lining up endless film projects. Nope! Her next project is going to be a TV miniseries!
Sony Pictures TV is bringing together one of the biggest movie stars, Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers, Lucy, Her), and the work of one of the most celebrated American novelists, the Pulitzer Prize winner Edith Wharton (The Age Of Innocence) for a limited series project that is about to hit the marketplace. Johansson is set to star in and executive produce the eight-episode period series, from Charles Finch?s Pink Sands, which is based on Wharton?s 1913 novel The Custom Of The Country.
Eyed for a cable run, possibly on premium cable, it will be written by British playwright-screenwriter Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons, Atonement) from his original screenplay. Hampton originally wrote a feature script adaptation of Custom Of The Country almost two decades ago, reportedly for Michelle Pfeiffer who had starred in the 1993 feature Age Of Innocence, based on Wharton?s book. It was published in 2002 as part of a collection of Hampton screenplays.
Custom Of The Country is described as a scathing story of ambition featuring one of the most ruthless heroines in literature, Undine Spragg, who will be played by Johansson in her first major TV role. Undine is as unscrupulous as she is magnetically beautiful. Her rise to the top of New York?s high society from her nouveau riche roots provides a provocative and thoroughly modern commentary on the upwardly mobile and the aspirations that eventually cause their ruin.
[From Deadline]
Don?t yell at me, but I?ve never even heard of this book. It sounds very much like an American take on Thackeray?s Vanity Fair, with Undine Spragg as the American version of Becky Sharp. As for the idea of ScarJo doing A) a period drama and B) a TV miniseries? eh, I don?t hate it. So many great actors are doing TV projects these days, especially when it?s premium cable. Working for HBO is often more prestigious than working on some studio movie. Plus, I don?t really hate it when Scarlett does period drama. And you know this series will be full-on costume p0rn.

Ha, on Wednesday I was reading this story at Life & Style about Scarlett Johansson shopping for blue baby clothes and the L&S tea-leave-readers claimed that she was totally having a boy. Not so much! Scarlett Johansson and her no-socks-wearing French lover Romain Dauriac have welcomed a baby girl. The little girl already has a name too: ROSE. Rose Dorothy Johansson-Dauriac? Or just Rose Dauriac? Hm.
It?s a girl! Scarlett Johansson and fianc Romain Dauriac have welcomed their first child, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.
Daughter Rose Dorothy was born in New York City. The baby?s middle name is an homage to Johansson?s grandmother, whom she called ?the first Francophone in my family? while accepting her honorary Csar in Paris last February.
?Mother and daughter are doing well,? publicist Marcel Pariseau tells the Associated Press in a statement.
Further information is not being released at this time.
The actress has had plenty to celebrate in her personal life lately, including an engagement that came six months before PEOPLE confirmed in March that the couple were expecting a baby.
?I?m very happy. Being engaged is an exciting time to enjoy and really savor,? Johansson, 29, has said of Dauriac, a French journalist.
While never addressing the pregnancy, the mom-to-be let her baby belly do the talking, debuting her bump days after the news broke and, more recently, while stepping out for ice cream with Dauriac in New York City.
[From People]
Yes, that?s another interesting piece of information ? despite Scarlett saying over and over that she was going to live in Paris and she and Romain were so happy in Paris and all of that, they decamped to Manhattan and the Hamptons for most of the summer and Scarlett totally gave birth in New York. So, Rose will have American citizenship from the start (the baby would have been eligible for American citizenship even if Scarlett had given birth in France, it just would have taken more time to get through the paperwork). How does France determine citizenship? Romain is a French citizen, so presumably Rose could have dual citizenship?
As for the name? it?s pretty. I tend to think ?Rose? is more a middle name, just because it sounds good attached to so many longer names. Like, Elizabeth Rose, Isabel Rose, Catherine Rose, Madelyn Rose, you get the idea. It?s old-fashioned but classic. And it?s the same in English and French too, which is probably why they chose it. I understand the choice of Dorothy to honor a family member – I have a few “Dorothy” ladies in my family too. My favorite is when a Dorothy is called “Dot”. I think that’s so cute.
PS? I totally lost a bet with myself about ScarJo versus Ryan Reynolds. I can?t believe Scarlett had a baby before Ryan!!

| Scarlett Johansson will marry Romain next month in Paris or the Hamptons | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Scarlett Johansson has been keeping quiet lately. Like, for the past two months or so, she?s been able to step back in a big way. It?s nice. It?s allowed us to examine other sketchy/fishy couplings, like George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin. But that doesn?t mean that ScarJo?s engagement to Romain Dauriac is any less shady, just that she?s not trying to convince us that this is the grandest love affair in the world or that they?re #initforlife. But shock of all shocks, Scarlett and Romain are going through with the wedding. SOON.
Pregnant Scarlett Johansson is marrying Romain Dauriac in just a few weeks, she revealed at an elegant dinner thrown by Martha Stewart at her East Hampton estate. The glowing actress, who was engaged to French journalist Dauriac in September last year and announced they were expecting a baby in March, was overheard saying at Saturday?s gathering that they are getting married in four weeks.
The August wedding venue is being kept a secret, but the speculation is that Johansson will opt for a very private ceremony in Dauriac?s native Paris, or perhaps in the Hamptons, where the couple has been spending much of the summer. Johansson?s much-anticipated Luc Besson sci-fi movie ?Lucy? opens on Friday, so the 29-year-old actress will be busy promoting the flick before the wedding and the imminent birth of their first child.
The happy couple slipped into Stewart?s party, and sat across from the domestic doyenne for the seated dinner on her porch, whipped up by her private chef. It was Stewart?s first party at the house in 20 years, and marked the launch of Dom Prignon?s P2-1998, a vintage that retails for, gulp, $400 a bottle.
[From Page Six]
I can?t help but think of Blake Lively. It?s because of the mention of Martha Stewart ? Blake gushed about Martha in her Vogue interview and Martha even gave some quotes to Vogue about Blake. And now ScarJo is hanging out with Martha in the Hamptons? Maybe Martha will help organize Scarlett?s wedding, just like Blake?s. How does it always come back to Ryan Reynolds? It?s so weird. Anyway, if Scarlett and Romain are really going to get married next month? good for them, I guess. Do I have to care that much? I doubt it will last more than a couple of years anyway. She just wants to marry someone French and live in Paris for a short time, because that?s part of the fantasy she?s created for herself. JMO.

| Scarlett Johansson needed 3 stunt doubles to film 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

If you ask me, it?s WAY too early to start promoting The Avengers: Age of Ultron. But here we go. Entertainment Weekly has a super-advanced preview of all things Avengers in this week?s issue, with a cover that features Iron Man, Captain America and Ultron. You can see the EW slideshow here ? I?m including pics of Black Widow, the cover and a first look at Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) who? I?m not sure that who the fan-boys pictured? Anyway, as for Black Widow and Scarlett Johansson?s real-life pregnancy, which she revealed just before she went to London to start filming? well, Joss Whedon says it?s fine. He says that they pulled out all the stops for Scarlett:
Scarlett Johansson may be pregnant, but moviegoers will be hard-pressed to find any indication of her burgeoning belly when Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters next summer ? thanks to a little strategic planning by director Joss Whedon and company.
While reprising her role as Black Widow for the highly anticipated sequel, the 29-year-old mother-to-be was given a variety of high-waisted outfits to wear in order to conceal the fact that she has a bun in the oven, Entertainment Weekly reports in its latest issue. But Whedon insists the efforts to hide Johansson’s pregnancy were, nevertheless, kept to a minimum.
“She’s not going to spend the whole movie carrying groceries,” notes Whedon. “We didn’t trim any scenes. We’re like, ‘We’ll make it work.’ ”
And while shooting the flick involved a lot of action, steps were taken to make sure Johansson’s baby was kept out of harm’s way. In fact, not one, not two, but three stunt doubles were brought in to handle the more physically intense scenes.
“It’s always funny,” Johanson’s costar Chris Evans tells EW. “You walk by, ‘Hey Scarlett ? oh, weird. You’re not Scarlett at all. Sorry.’ A lot of fake Scarletts around.”
[From People]
I heard somewhere (??) that Black Widow plays a very important, central role in this film, so I guess it?s good that they didn?t A) fire Scarlett and recast the role or B) rewrite the script to limit Black Widow?s scenes. While I?m not a huge fan of Black Widow, The Avengers definitely need more chicks and Black Widow is what we get. And as I said months ago? they can just do close-ups and shoot her from the boobs up. Her boobs are HUGE! And that will make the fna-boys happy. But really, THREE stunt doubles? Yikes.
As for the spoilery spoilers about Ultron and the plot and whatever, you can read part of the EW cover story here and here. Why are they releasing this much information a year in advance?

Everyone’s favorite soon-to-be-MILF Scarlett Johansson made the cover of Vanity Fair for May, and delivered one seriously awesome photoshoot thanks to those growing baby bumps of hers. Still, I don’t get how Vanity Fair‘s able to land a busty shoot with Scarlett and I can’t. Oh right, because they’re a “respected publication” with “professional photographers” […]

| ScarJo on the SodaStream controversy: 'There's a lot of anti-Semitism out there' | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
Yay, more quotes from Scarlett Johansson?s Glamour & Vanity Fair cover profiles! Huzzah. I can already tell that I?m going to hate the full write-up in VF. It?s all about how she?s a goddess among women and every ScarJo fart is laced with gold and perfume. According to The Daily Mail, Scarlett did talk to VF about her fianc and some other stuff. Some highlights:
ScarJo on Romain: ?It is [easier to be with someone who isn't famous], but it’s more than that?We do different things. He’s in the whole art-scene world. So it’s nice, because we can enjoy each other’s worlds, but we don’t have our crazy conflicting schedules and all that other stuff to contend with.?
On the SodaStream controversy: ?[I'm being called] the new face of apartheid. There?s a lot of anti-Semitism out there.?
She?s not into emotional men: ?Of course, actors in general, they’re obsessed with emotions. Although, he’s French, so he’s probably overly into his emotions.?
Doing voice work on ?Her?: ?I thought it was just voice-over work. My agent sent me the script and said ?Oh it’s a few hours?. I met with Spike and ended up having this eight-hour meeting or something. By the end of which I was starving and dehydrated. And it was like ‘oh man?, you know??
[From The Daily Mail]
Considering I was one of the few people who was kind of on her side about the SodaStream mess, I have to say… yeah, I think part of it was anti-Semitism. She’s making it into a blanket condemnation, like every single person who criticized her decision to sign on to SodaStream and drop her Oxfam work was an anti-Semite, and that’s not the case. But SOME of it was anti-Semitic or at the very least, a knee-jerk anti-Israel reaction.
Does anyone else read her comments on ?emotional actors? and think that she?s shading Ryan Reynolds a little bit? Am I overanalyzing? It?s possible. But it feels like she was talking about Romain being someone ?not famous? and how different that is, and like there?s a subtle comparison about Ryan being melodramatic or something.
Anyway, there are also some additional quotes from Scarlett?s Glamour interview (you can read the full thing here). This is the article where she said she hates the “ScarJo” nickname. Here’s the full quote: “It’s lazy and flippant. And there’s something kind of violent about it. There’s something insulting about it.” VIOLENT? ScarJo, please.
?Her? and divorcing Ryan Reynolds: ?When I started to talk with Spike about the film, we shared our relationship experiences. We talked about what it feels like to not have something work and what that does to your sense of self.?
Growing as a person since her divorce: ?I think I know myself better. I feel I know now more of what I need in a relationship, what I want in a relationship. And I know I have more tools to communicate, not just with my partner, but with myself. That’s not necessarily any reflection of who I was married to or what was happening in my marriage, but really where I was in my life. When I was first married, I was much younger. And I have had the opportunity now to work more on getting to know myself. I think that makes you a better partner and somebody who is able to work with somebody and stay in a relationship in the not-romantic moments. I have more patience with myself. I have more patience with my partner. I think that just comes with age, probably.?
Planning the wedding: ?We’re just going with the flow. I’ve never been one to do a full-on themed wedding. I don’t care about that stuff.?
Living in Paris: ?I guess part of the wonderful thing about living in Paris is how people take their time with things. And I like to feel no pressure on the weekends in Paris. Sunday, most things are closed in Paris, and there?s something wonderful about that. So I’m much more comfortable just spending the weekend in my bed.?
[From Glamour]
Scarlett also talked more about Paris style and how she prefers the more ?New York street style? because of functionality and comfortable shoes. ScarJo says: ?In Paris you suck it up. You hobble around. Although my girlfriends in Paris and I decided we’re adopting the trend of athletic streetwear ?cause we got sick of it. I was like, ?I am sick of not feeling my big toe after two hours of dancing!??
Also ? I know many are loathe to see Scarlett?s point of view these days, but I understand what she?s saying about her first marriage. She was too young. She needed to date a bunch of losers post-Ryan to figure out what she wanted from a marriage.

Here is Scarlett Johansson posing on covers of the May issue of Vanity Fair, giving a sultry look in the image photographed by Craig McDean. Scarlett recently covered WSJ Magazine as well, with a more demure look. Shot on location at the New York Palace hotel, the blonde bombshell exudes glamour in the glossy feature.
She has plenty of things to love about her life right now: She?s an expectant mommy, she?s engaged, she?s a Hollywood it-girl, and she?ll be starring on the cover of two magazines next month. But there is one thing the actress who?s been dubbed the ?sexiest woman alive? has found to complain about: Do not call her ScarJo.

Everything is coming up Scarlett these days. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a HUGE hit, and Scarlett?s counter-programming film Under the Skin sold out in it?s small, limited release. So? no one really cared that much about Scarlett?s many controversies at the end of the day. Anyway, Scarlett covers the May issues of Vanity Fair and Glamour. The VF excerpt thus far is pretty dull- it’s basically about how hot she is and Scarlett isn’t even quoted. The Glamour excerpts are more interesting – she has some thoughts about her ?ScarJo? nickname and living in Paris with her baby-daddy Romain.
The ?ScarJo? nickname: ?I associate that name with, like, pop stars. It sounds tacky. It’s lazy and flippant… There’s something insulting about it.?
She hates being asked about her sexiness: ?Actresses get stupid questions asked of them all the time, like, ?How do you stay sexy?? or ?What’s your sexiest quality?? All these ridiculous things you would never ask a man.?
Transitioning into adult acting: ?When I made Lost in Translation, I was 17. Now I’m 29… That’s a normal side effect of being a young actor. You’re captured in a certain time of your life, and it’s hard for people to move past that.?
She loves Paris: ?The nice thing about being in Paris is that you know everybody is looking at what you are wearing. You have an audience, you know??
[From Glamour via The Mail]
ScarJo (YES I SAID IT) also bitched about her nickname back in 2011 when she said the nickname was ?It?s a laziness. People can?t actually say the whole name? It?s just bizarre.? Speaking as a gossip blogger, I can definitively say that yes, it is laziness. I?m not doing it to be tacky, I just can?t be bothered to write out ?Scarlett? or ?Johansson? every single time. Thus, I love a good nickname: ScarJo, Swifty, Angie, the Cracken, and Scarfy. As for the stuff about how she?s tired of being asked about her sexiness? lord. Someone needs to put ScarJo in touch with Rob Lowe so they can co-host a telethon to offer support to all of the beautiful, sexy people cursed by their beauty and sexiness.

Revealing her experiences and struggles while filming her latest sci-fi endeavor, Scarlett Johansson went into several interviews to talk all about "Under the Skin."
Of her scenes shot with unsuspecting citizens, who signed contracts after the cameras stopped rolling, the 29-year-old said, "I had never experienced anything like that, shooting a film that was challenging in ways I never could have predicted."
Saying that she had to overcome her own self-consciousness in order to complete her work on "Under the Skin," the "Captain America" beauty continued, "It was a huge milestone for me creatively, I felt much stronger as an actor coming out of production. I felt like I could really be anything."
"She never wavered," added director Jonathon Glazer. "And I put her in some uncompromising situations." But Johansson said she was also given the tools she needed to create a convincing Black Widow in her recent superhero flicks, thanks to "Under the Skin."
Scarlett also spoke at a press conference in New York about those uncompromising situations on the set of the sci-fi horror, saying, "The first time I saw it I was terrified, partly because of things like the nudity. I didn't know how that was going to be used. I didn't know how naked my performance would be figuratively."
However, thanks to stunning photography and imagery, Scarlett added, "The terror that I had going in [watching it] quickly faded when I became immersed in the visual."
"Under the Skin" hits theaters tomorrow (April 4), so get ready for an exclusive look at the human condition through the eyes of a dark, twisted alien being!
