| Royalist: The Sussexes' refusal to promote 'Polo' has 'raised eyebrows' in Hollywood | Added 4 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a lot, but even more than that, I root for them. I want them to be successful, I want them to be rich, safe and protected from the high-level campaign to hurt them and disrupt every part of their lives. Which is why I want them to make better decisions about how they communicate with the world and how they promote their work. This is turning into their Achilles, their bizarre and outdated communications strategies and their refusal to advocate on their own behalf when it comes to their business. They massively fked up last year when they went silent as Spotify dropped them and Bill Simmons called them ?fking grifters.? And they?re fking up again this month by refusing to promote the Netflix Polo series. Meghan and Harry wouldn?t even do a couple of interviews in the trade papers, they wouldn?t even host a screening. So, obviously, the narrative of ?Polo is a bomb, and the Sussexes don?t even want to acknowledge it? narrative has taken hold.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to be galloping away from any association with their new show about polo, after it was ridiculed by critics as a tin-eared foray into the ?world?s stupidest sport.?
Notably, there has been no visible promotion for the show, entitled, imaginatively enough, Polo; no interviews or podcast episodes with Meghan or Harry have dropped, and records suggest there are no premieres or press events scheduled to support its launch earlier this week. It?s a grim turn of events for the couple, once heralded as Netflix?s golden duo. Their own lack of engagement with promotional efforts for the show, which they executive produced and have a cameo role in, suggests even they know it?s a dud.
Sean McNulty, a producer, writer, and Hollywood veteran who also created and wrote the Hollywood newsletter The Wakeup, told The Daily Beast: ?This one hasn?t been on my radar at all this week, which maybe says it all right there.? McNulty noted the absence of coverage in the Hollywood trade papers and the apparent absence of any scheduled premiere or press activity for the series, saying: ?The lack of a proper, visible press campaign for a series from Harry & Meghan raises an eyebrow to say the least.?
He said that Netflix has launched ?other much higher profile content this week? such as Carry-On, Jamie Foxx and Sabrina Carpenter specials, which suggested Polo ?could very well disappear in to the Netflix ether quite quickly.?
Harry and Meghan do not have official social media accounts but their friends who have often promoted things on their behalf have been eerily quiet too. Even Nacho Figueras, the player sometimes described as the David Beckham of polo, who is one of the stars of the show, only posted a few tweets and one Instagram story about the show earlier this week before moving on.
More shuffling away from the bad smell was evident in remarks attributed to a source reportedly quoted in Closer Magazine, who said the end result was ?pretty much out of their control? because ?the bosses wanted the series to appeal to the masses and push this reality TV angle.?
With a spokesperson for the couple declining to comment, it looks suspiciously like Harry and Meghan would rather we all quietly pretend this new show doesn?t exist. Critics, however, do not appear ready to extend that courtesy.
Even Harry?s arch-foe Prince William appeared to troll the couple earlier this week, revealing he has been enjoying Netflix?except he said he was watching the hit new show Black Doves.
[From The Daily Beast]
As I said, I watched one episode of Polo and I?m going to finish the series this weekend. It?s enjoyable and actually well-done. Harry and Meghan should be proud of the finished product, and I cannot understand why they?re refusing to hype it or even remind people that it?s out now. Sussex fans will say ?the British media gives them free promotion for whatever they do,? but that?s how the ?Polo is a terrible show and it?s bombing? narrative came about in the first place. Even if H&M aren?t particularly proud of Polo which, again, I think is a good show they still have the responsibility as producers to hype their product and ask people to watch it.

| Jamie Foxx accused of assaulting a model at a NYC restaurant in August 2015 | Added 389 days ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Wednesday, November 22 was the last day of the ?window? for the New York state?s Adult Survivors Act. Meaning, it was the last day for survivors of sexual assault or harassment to sue the people who harmed them without running into any statutes of limitations. It?s more than likely that Cassie had that timeline in mind when she sued Sean Combs. Then, another victim came forward and sued Bad Boy Records? former president Harve Pierre of harassment and assault. A former model has also sued Axl Rose, saying that he sexually assaulted her in 1989 in a New York hotel. And now this: a woman going by Jane Doe at this time has filed a complaint against Jamie Foxx.
Jamie Foxx has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a New York City restaurant, according to court records. The womans complaint, filed in New York Supreme Court on Wednesday, and obtained by PEOPLE, alleged that the incident took place in August 2015 at Catch NYC.
The alleged victim, referred to as Jane Doe, claimed she entered the establishment where she saw Catch Hospitality Group co-founder Mark Birnbaum seated ?one table away having drinks? with Foxx, 55, whose real name is Eric Marlon Bishop.
Doe alleged that at approximately 1:00 a.m., she and a friend approached Foxx?s table to ask for a picture with the Academy Award winner. She claimed he replied, ?Sure baby, anything for you,? and proceeded to take ?several photographs.?
In the complaint, the woman alleged that Foxx ?seemed intoxicated.?
She claims The Burial actor told her, ?Wow, you have that super model body?, ?You smell so good? and ?You look like Nickie.? When she asked ?Who?s Nickie?,? Foxx replied, ?Gabrielle Union.? She alleged he then grabbed her by her arm and pulled her to the back area of the rooftop.
The court filing alleged that once she and Foxx were in a secluded area, he ?placed both of his hands on her waist, moved them under her ?crop top? and began rubbing her breasts.?
She said she attempted to step away from him and noticed a security guard ?some distance away who saw what was happening but walked further away.?
[From People]
The complaint goes into further detail, about how Foxx groped her genitals and he didn?t stop until Doe?s friend found her on the rooftop and got her the hell away. It?s so believable a popular celebrity, drunk and partying, agrees to take a photo with a fan and then feels entitled to put his hands all over the fan. It truly happens all the time. Foxx?s spokesperson responded to the complaint/lawsuit:
On Thursday, a spokesperson for the actor, 55, told PEOPLE in a statement, The alleged incident never happened. In 2020, this individual filed a nearly identical lawsuit in Brooklyn. That case was dismissed shortly thereafter. The claims are no more viable today than they were then. We are confident they will be dismissed again.
And once they are, Mr. Foxx intends to pursue a claim for malicious prosecution against this person and her attorneys for re-filing this frivolous action, the spokesperson added.
[From People]
Is this malicious prosecution? A woman sues, the case gets dismissed, and the woman hops jurisdictions and refiles three years later? Eh. It will be interesting to see what happens here Sean Combs settled with Cassie in record time, but from Foxx?s statement, I?m getting the vibe that he?s confident he won?t have to settle. For now.

Jamie Foxx is returning to television with a new sitcom on Netflix called Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! The show is inspired by Jamie?s relationship with his daughter, Corinne Foxx, who serves as executive producer on the show. The premise is Jamies character, Brian, owns a cosmetic company and is raising his daughter as a single dad. It sounds like she?s just come to live with him full time so it?s equal parts family comedy and odd couple comedy. The show also stars David Alan Grier as Jamie?s dad. David and Jamie starred together on In Living Color, so they already have a working chemistry. And in tribute to their ILC days, both Jamie and David will be doing characters and impressions throughout this show, so it sounds like we are getting both new and vintage Jamie. He?s such a fun interview. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and talked about everything from his muscles deflating post workout to going to Miami during the pandemic.
He?s feeling his age
Now that I work out I can?t lift all the big weights because you can?t hold your swole. You can work out but it doesn?t stay like when you were younger.
On everyone living in his house
You can?t kick my parents out. The kids have literally taken over the house. It?s like Lord of the Flies. I won?t say who did it but the other day a window was broken. The windows I have now, that?s a car payment. I know who did it because I taught all the kids not to snitch. Which is the worst thing. Now everything is upside down and nobody?s snitching. Dogs [are] missing. They don?t realize there?s cameras everywhere.
He traveled to Miami
I did safely go to Miami. I was safe though. Georgia and Florida they just never closed. I wasn?t in a club, I was in a restaurant for covid education.
[From Jimmy Kimmel Live on YouTube]
The excerpt doesn?t do Jamie?s energy justice. He was dancing around the studio, elbow bumping audience members, singing and eventually just throwing money at people. The muscle discussion comes up because he gets winded and then pulls something lunging, which he blames on his ?elevated? age. He?s right, too. As you age, you work twice as hard for half the results. Apparently, Jamie likes to have a good time. Jimmy asked him how he?s been faring in lockdown without any parties. But, as he mentioned, he has a bunch of people living with him. Not only family, but friends who dropped their kids off ?for a weekend? and never came back for them. So it sounds like maybe he went to Miami for some peace and quiet. I?m going to have to take Jamie at his word that he was safe while he was there. The story he told about being in a club in Atlanta ?for COVID education. Showing people what not to do,? was really funny. If it was true, shame on him, but I hope he was just exaggerating to make us laugh, which I think he was. It sounded very much like he was going for the laugh. There was one very sweet moment in which Jamie acknowledged Jimmy for his looking out for Corinne. Jimmy was instrumental in Corinne?s involvement in the live performance of Good Times, for which Corinne won a Creative Emmy. Jamie said it was rare to have someone protect for your kids in this industry. They didn?t elaborate much but it was a nice moment.
Jamie is 53-years-old. He looks great for any age, but that?s how they are getting away with having 64-year-old David play his father, by writing Jamie?s character as about 10 years younger than he is. Honestly, he can pull it off. The show looks fun, and Jamie whetted my appetite with his Dave Chapelle and Al Pacino impression in this interview. My only quibble is that in the trailer, Jamie?s character says his daughter?s having a hard time with ?her mom being gone.? I hope the mom isn?t dead. That?s a disturbing trend in TV these days to paint the male lead as sympathetic by killing his female partner and leaving him to raise one or two daughters on his own (see also The Unicorn, Mr. Mayor and Kenan).

| Jamie Foxx made some transphobic 'jokes' at the iHeartRadio Awards: ugh' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

The iHeartRadio Awards were held last night and some big-name musical acts came out, which I guess means we have to start taking the IheartMusic Awards seriously. To me, the awards are pretty far down the list of ?important? music shows, well below the Grammys, the VMAs, even the BRIT Awards. But iHeartRadio is trying to making this a bigger deal, which is why they got Jamie Foxx to do the opening monologue, which I guess was supposed to be ?funny?. It ended up veering away from ?awkward? into downright offensive when Jamie thought it would be great to make some jokes about Bruce Jenner?s transition.
Jamie Foxx got things off to an uncomfortable start at the iHeartRadio Awards on Sunday, March 29. After performances from Iggy Azalea, Jennifer Hudson, and Nick Jonas, the Annie star took the stage at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium to begin his hosting duties with a roast-like monologue. Foxx, 47, first took aim at rapper Suge Knight, who’s facing murder charges for a hit-and-run in January. He then turned the spotlight on Bruce Jenner, making a poorly received joke about the reality star’s transition from male to female.
“We got some groundbreaking performances here, too, tonight,” the Oscar winner began. “We got Bruce Jenner, who will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his-and-her duet all by himself.”
He followed that with another jab at the former Olympian, saying, “Look, I’m just busting your balls while I still can.”
Viewers watching from home were quick to call out the actor on Twitter. Many accused him of transphobia, saying the joke was offensive and in poor taste.
[From Us Weekly]
You can see the video at Us Weekly. To the audience?s credit, the transphobic jokes fell flat. Like, barely anyone laughed and you could sort of see it on Jamie?s face, that the jokes didn?t go over the way he planned. I think we?ve come so far in the past five years or so towards greater understanding of trans issues and trans people, but there?s always going to be some caveman who thinks it?s totally cool to make ?jokes? like this. Enough. There are kids watching and they see Jamie normalize that kind of bullying. Jamie should offer an apology, but I doubt he will.
I?m including some photos of Jamie and some of the other dudes in attendance last night, including Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, Boy George and Nick Jonas.

Giving fans a peek at the remake of the hit Broadway musical, Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhan Wallis filmed "Annie" in New York City on Friday (October 11).
The "Django Unchained" star wore a black jacket and matching pants while the "Beasts of the Southern Wild" breakout looked cute in a tan dress and denim jacket as she walked a furry friend.
Directed by Will Gluck, the movie also stars Rose Byrne, Cameron Diaz, Bobby Cannavale, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
Co-producing the film are Will Smith and Jay Z who will be sure to bring a whole new audience to the classic tale of the curly-haired orphan.

| Jamie Foxx tipped to play Martin Luther King Jr in Oliver Stone biopic: good pick? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jamie Foxx’s career still flourishes in the face of White House Down, and Channing Tatum is going strong too. If that movie had starred women instead, I’m sure media outlets wouldn’t be so quick to brush off the hopeful blockbuster turned financial flop. It’s only when a male actor is so egregiously wrong for the profession (like Justin Timberlake) that we hear about how he should GTFO. That’s a tangent for another day.
At the moment, Jamie is getting down to business with talks to play Martin Luther King Jr. in an upcoming biopic. Sources say “the King family is expected to support the long-gestating project,” so it sounds like they’re down with casting Jamie too. Jamie is so talented and focused, so he could definitely pull off the role. As far as Oliver Stone directing the pic? That sounds like a trainwreck:
Jamie Foxx is in talks to play Martin Luther King Jr. in a biopic that Oliver Stone is in negotiations to direct for DreamWorks and Warner Bros., three individuals familiar with the long-gestating project have told TheWrap.
Oscar winners Foxx and Stone previously worked together on 1999?s football drama Any Given Sunday, which helped put Foxx on the map as a major movie star.
DreamWorks acquired the rights to King?s story in 2009 along with the rights to his “I Have a Dream” speech. In April 2011, the company decided to team up with Warner Bros., which had been developing its own MLK movie with Salem, who spent three years doing research and interviews to inform his screenplay.
The race to get a MLK movie off the ground has become something of a spectator sport in Hollywood. What distinguishes the DreamWorks/WB project is that it boasts the support of the King family, unlike a competing film titled Memphis that Paul Greengrass has spent years developing with producer Scott Rudin. The King family refused to cooperate with that project given its warts-and-all depiction of the civil rights leader.
Stone has long been drawn to politically-themed biopics, having directed JFK, Nixon and W. He most recently directed Savages and just signed on to produce a biopic of Algerian leader Emir Abd el-Kader.
[From The Wrap]
Oliver? Just no. The man would turn this movie into a stylized mess that would only further the agenda of Oliver. Of course the guy does give a good interview, so the press tour would be pretty epic. I don’t think it’s worth the trade off of messing up a King biopic just to let Oliver step onto his latest soapbox.

| Is Jamie Foxx jealous of the love Channing Tatum got during their press tour? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
I know that Channing Tatum is huge around here and gets a ton of love for very good reason, and I also realize that many people do not consider themselves to be Jamie Foxx fans due to his particularly controversial brand of stand-up comedy. Yet if I was ever forced to pick one of these guys for a one-night stand, it would totally be Jamie. Dude is fine, and he’s got a great little booty. I was singing Quentin Tarantino’s praises a little more loudly than usual after several nice bum shots near the end of Django Unchained (and I’m not talking about the upside-down scene, for those who have seen the movie). Jamie is used to getting this sort of attention from females, and he’s also used to being a really big deal whenever he goes on a press tour for a new movie.
However, a story in this week’s issue of the Enquirer would have us believe that Jamie was totally jealous to have to give up most of the spotlight to Channing while they toured together for White House Down. Funny story — despite my fascination with Jamie’s fine ass, I paid such little attention to the promotion for this movie that I thought it was a comedy before reading some reviews. Silly me, and silly Jamie for being totally jealous of Channing:
Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is being eclipsed by his “White House Down” co-star Channing Tatum, and sources say he’s not happy!
The two actors have worked nonstop to promote the film, but Foxx has played second fiddle to risin star Tatum, who’s been deluged with questions about his skyrocketing career and new baby girl.
“Fans at the premiere in Washington, D.C., were practically shoving Jamie out of the way to get a picture with Channing,” a source told the Enquirer.
“Jamie isn’t used to that. He’s usually the star of the show everywhere he goes. And the questions that reporters asked Jamie most frequently were, ‘What’s it like to work with Channing?’ or ‘Have you seen Channing’s new baby yet?’ It’s made Jamie feel like chopped liver!”
Foxx, 45, has built a stellar film career, highlighted by his Best Actor Oscar for Ray, the 2004 biopic of the legendary Ray Charles.
But Tatum, 33, is Hollywood’s hottest youg star, scoring three top box-office films in a row with 21 Jump Street, The Vow, and Magic Mike. The former model married his Step Up co-star Jenna Dewan in July 2009, and on May 31 she gave birth to their first child, daughter Everly.
“The baby was conceived while Channing and Jamie were shooting White House Down,” another source noted. “Her birth put a whole new spin on promoting the movie. It all became about Channing being a first-time dad, and it was unfortunate timing in Jamie’s mind.”
To make matters worse, in contrast to Channing, Jamie believes in keeping his private life out of the spotlight, said the source.
“Channing will talk to anyone about anything at any time,” said the source. “Producers love him because that helps sell movies, but actors like Jamie think it’s grandstanding. Still, Jamie says while Channing may be the hunk of the month, he’s the one with an Oscar on his mantle!”
[From Enquirer, print edition, July 15, 2013]
I tend to think that this story is true only because Jamie is used to being such a huge deal, and Channing draws throngs of screaming women that must have drained a lot of the attention that usually is reserved for Jamie. I can see why Jamie would be annoyed if journalists primarily wanted to know about working with his hot male co-star, but I think Jamie should have realized that was part of the deal when he signed onto this film. Mr. Foxx can rest assured that his career has already demonstrated lasting power, and Channing (as nice of a guy as he is) may not be as lucky if his looks ever fade with time.
Don’t worry, Jamie. You’re still the hottest guy of the cast in my book. Now turn around and shake it.
