Scarlett Johansson always seems to land a ton of magazine covers whenever she’s doing press for a film, so prepare yourself for a ton of ScarJo news between now and May 4, which is when The Avengers arrives in theaters. I’m very much looking forward to the movie — not so much for Scarlett but mostly because of how Chris Evan’s tight little butt looks while he’s punching that bag in the second trailer. Maybe his waxed-up nips will reprise their former role too, which incidentally is what Scarlett is doing with her Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow character from Iron Man 2.
In celebration of The Avengers upcoming release, Empire magazine has issued special collector’s covers for ScarJo as well as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans. I’ve included the boys’ covers at the end of this post, but for now, here’s the poorly Photoshopped group cover. Collectively, they’re not Blue Steel-ing as hard here as during that dreadful Entertainment Weekly cover, and here are some excerpts from ScarJo’s interview:
Why Joss Whedon cast her in Avengers: “Joss said to me, ‘I want to do everything I can to keep this from being,’ in his words, ‘a sausagefest.’ I said, ‘That’s disgusting, but okay.’”
On Black Widow: “I knew that I didn’t want to play a love interest. That’s not who Widow is. I think Joss understood the importance of having a female perspective. He’s a very sensitive guy. He works really well with women. He obviously can write for them! He loves strong and independent women and he’s got a certain understanding of and an appreciation for, women who take charge of the situation, of themselves so it was clear to me that the character would not be underwritten.”
On being sexy: “I don’t know, I don’t think of myself that way. It’s alright for now. I’m convinced that obviously in a couple of years’ time it will be somebody else. I won’t be as interesting that way. I actually have not played that many sexy characters! Of course you could say the characters I played maybe in Match Point, maybe in Black Dahlia [are sexy]. But the characters I play aren’t really traditionally sexy, I don’t think. I think it’s probably a reaction to the fact that I’m curvy and confident about it, maybe. But I don’t think I was particularly sexy in Lost in Translation or particularly sexy in The Other Boleyn Girl.”

C’mon, are we really supposed to believe that Scarlett isn’t the least bit flattered by “sexy” descriptors of her physical appearance? Maybe she’s really telling the truth, but it’s probably under the guise of considering herself one of those elusive “serious actress” types. At least she’s not talking about walking with her legs splayed out so that her character will be taken more seriously like she did while promoting We Bought a Zoo. Small mercies.
Scarlett also covers the May issue of Flare magazine. The cover itself is a reprint of a shot form a 2010 issue of UK Bazaar, but the interview is new even if not particularly enlightening. Scarlett does discuss how Terry Richardson shot her latest Dolce & Gabbana campaign though:
Terry Richardson did the newest D&G campaign:
“In the past those images were incredibly glamorous and had a movie star feeling to them and I think this campaign will be more intimate and natural, more like myself as opposed to a glamorous character that the boys had in mind. That kind of Anna Magnani sort of character. It’s more modern, less golden age of Hollywood.”
On her style vs. the red carpet: “I don’t really wear a lot of colourful things. I wear a lot of grey and black. I love grey and navy. I think it?s nice on the red carpet to wear things that are colourful just because I think there are more options. You can take more of a risk I suppose with colour on the red carpet.”
What will she wear for the Avengers premiere? “I’m the only girl in the film so I’m obviously going to be more aware that I’m surrounded by a bunch of suits. Everybody is going to be wearing black and grey and it will be nice to add femininity and some female sex appeal to the lineup. I think I’ll steer clear of the tuxedo.”
On design collaboration: “I’ve been very fortunate that I?ve worked with designers that are also good friends of mine. For different events, whether it’s for the Oscars or the Met ball, I’ve worked with Dolce & Gabbana to design stuff as well as my friends Roland Mouret and Stella McCartney.”

The tabloids have been trying to make the Scarlett Johansson-Ryan Reynolds-Blake Lively Uncool Triangle ?happen? for a few months. While I think there is definitely a potential for some scandal, nothing has really jumped out at me quite yet. Like, I?d really like to know if Ryan was screwing around on Scarlett with Blake when Blake and Ryan worked together on Green Lantern. I?d like to know what Scarlett really thinks of Blake being a ?TV Girl?. I?d like to know if Ryan is as a big of a douche as I seem to think he is, and why he seems to pull all of the hot girls. As of yet, the tabloids haven?t really run with any of those angles.
But there is a glimmer of hope. Us Weekly reports this week that ScarJo is really pissed off with Ryan for jumping into a real relationship with Blake. ScarJo wanted to get back with him!
Scarlett is seeing red! Ever since her ex-husband Ryan Reynolds took up with Blake Lively, ?Scarlett cut off all contact with Ryan,? reveals a source. ?She?s pissed.?
Scarlett had hoped to rekindle her romance with Ryan says the insider. When they went to an NYC concert together in September, Scarlett ?was still trying to get him back,? explains the source. But her efforts were thwarted as soon as Blake Lively began wooing him in October.
Now, ?he and Blake are very serious,? says the source, noting that Reynolds is moving to NYC for her. ?She gives Ryan a sense of home.?

Honestly, it strikes me that ScarJo didn?t really want to get back with Ryan – she wanted him to still be in love with her. That?s how ScarJo strikes me – it?s all about her. It?s all about who is in love with her. It?s all about how many dudes want her. She wanted Ryan to still be into her so she could have him as a backup. It?s her ego that?s hurt, not her heart. And now that Ryan and Blake are so severely loved-up, Scarlett is pissed off that Ryan has moved on with a girl who seems so much more suitable. That wasn?t supposed to happen! He was supposed to pine away for ScarJo for YEARS.

Does it surprise you that Scarlett Johansson?s non-celebrity boyfriend has gotten a ton of press over the past two weeks? My opinion of Nate ?The Most Beautiful Man In the World? Naylor has changed significantly in short time from ?yay, she?s dating a non-celebrity? to ?OMG, this guy sounds like such a d-bag.? I don?t buy that they?ve been dating for months, either. I think they?ve been together for a month, tops. And I think Nate is the one doing his own ?roll out? in the press, complete with happy vacation photos in Hawaii. But with the good comes the bad, and Gawker had this interesting story up a few days ago:
Working the holiday party circuit on a week night in December, a handful of Nate Naylor’s acquaintances (and extended acquaintances) met up at Von, a bar in the East Village. Nate would have been three months into his relationship with Scarlett at the time.
Naylor arrived after midnight, and ran into an ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. With nary a word exchanged, a witness tells us that Naylor “sucker punched the dude,” bloodying the man’s nose. Amid shouts, Naylor fled to a bar bathroom and locked himself in.
“Security eventually coaxed him out and ejected him,” the witness says.
Though noticeably smaller than ScarJo’s “Morrissey in his prime” boyfriend, the punch victim did not seek medical attention. He merely cleaned himself up and returned to drinking his beer.

Does this help or hurt his rep? He?s a bar-fighter, a brawler, but he?s also a coward who sucker-punches his victims and then runs into the bathroom to hide. Ugh. A picture is beginning to form, right? It?s about to get worse although, in my opinion, this next criticism of Nate is slightly off the mark. Anyway, Nate has a Tumblr which is full of NSFW images – go here if you?d like to look. As Gawker points out, Nate seems to have an obsession with boobs, butts and female nudity in general. SHOCK. He’s a dude. Aren’t they all like that? The straight ones, at least, but even some of the gay ones. The Enquirer showed Nate?s Tumblr to the National Organization of Women and to some random therapist, and everybody was just SHOCKED and APPALLED. Because of the boobs.
New York ad man Nate Naylor, 38, has posted dozens of violent and erotic images of women online, and experts say the disturbing photos could mean Naylor hates women!
?I fear for Scarlett?s safety and well-being if these images are any indication of how this man perceives – and treats – women in his personal life,? a staffer for the National Organization for Women told The Enquirer. Calling the images ?disgusting and deplorable,? the staffer added: ?Even if Nate isn?t violent and degrading toward women, just to come up with the concepts speaks volumes of where his head?s at.?
One expert who reviewed the photos called him a misogynist.
?He hates women,? Dr. Lillian Glass, whose beverly Hills practice includes relationship counseling, told The Enquirer. ?If a picture is worth a thousand words, he definitely comes across as a bad-boy.?
A friend of Scarlett?s tells the Enquirer: ?Nate?s a nice guy despite his fetish for posting crazy art photos online,? a friend of Scarlett?s told The Enquirer. ?Scarlett likes him a lot. Hopefully, he?ll be Mr. Right.?

Look, the images Nate has chosen for his Tumblr aren?t my cup of tea either, but I?m not looking at them thinking, ?Of course he?s a violent misogynist because he posted that photo of a bear.? There?s feminism and then there?s knee-jerk reactionary ?let?s judge a man on what photos he likes? BS. He likes striking, arresting images and he likes photos with a slightly pr0n-y bent. Taken with the whole ?sucker-punching a dude and then hiding in the bathroom? suggests that while he might have some violent tendencies, he?s also a gigantic baby. Basically, ScarJo should just keep her eye on him and one eye on making her exit.

The bad news is Scarlett Johansson is currently dating douchey ad exec, Nate Naylor. The good news is, if you’ve ever wanted to steal her away from him, all you’d have to do is walk up to the guy, stare him in the eyes and wait until he runs off and hides in a bathroom. That seems to be what he’s good at.
According to Gawker, Naylor was at a party at a bar in the East Village back in December when he ran into his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend. Without warning, Nate “sucker punched the dude” and bloodied his nose. Nate, fearing the guy would punch him back, then ran to the bathroom and locked himself in. “Security eventually coaxed him out and ejected him.” The victim didn’t press charges and instead just cleaned himself up and continued drinking.
Holy crap. Scarlett Johansson’s boyfriend is a little bitch. He probably ran into the bathroom because he fractured his limp wrist when he punched the guy and wanted somewhere private to cry. I’ve seen five-year-olds with more testicular fortitude.

There aren?t that many pics of Nate on the beach, the photographers were just concentrating on Scarlett in her bikini. There were several stories in this week?s tabloids about Scarlett and Nate, all of them in the same ?He?s so amazing, Scarlett is so lucky to be with him? vein as People Mag?s ass-kissy article introducing him to the world. Is Nate the one ?leaking? all of these quotes about how great he is? I hope not, but I suspect he is. A source tells Us Weekly, ?They met though mutual friends. And they were hot and heavy right off the bat.” They were briefly separated while Scarlett worked in Scotland, and ?Scarlett missed him while she was in Europe. Now they’re really going to spend time together.” You can see a photo of them making out here.
Beyond the Nate stuff, people are talking about Scarlett?s body in this bikini. Personally, I think she looks good. Yes, she has some cellulite – most people do. It?s not the end of the world, and I think the way the sunlight is hitting her body is affecting the ?look? of the cellulite anyway. But seriously, she has a really nice figure – she looks like she eats and works out sometimes, but she doesn?t get stressed about it. I?ll make fun of her for being a vapid twit, but not for her figure. The only thing bugging me is that her boobs look so much smaller in that bikini top, right? Are her boobs actually that small, or is that bikini top just really unflattering?

These are some new photos of Scarlett Johansson out in NYC last night with her brother Hunter. Hunter was her date for Runway To Win Launch fundraiser for Pres. Obama. Lots of fashion designers and Vogue people were at the event, but ScarJo was one of the few actresses. So she ended up getting a lot of face time with the media outlets covering the event, and she ended up sounding extremely vapid. Like, I understand that she was at a political fundraiser, and I?m not hating on her because she?s a staunch Democrat – those are my politics too! But I?m so wary of celebrities pontificating out of their ass about anything political, and I don?t think ScarJo is the brightest or the most eloquent of the Democrat celebrities, you know?
So, first off, Us Weekly had a story about Scarlett getting on her high horse about how she?s NOT going to go to fashion shows this year. She told Us Weekly, ?You won’t see me at any fashion shows, I prefer to be much more low key. I just remembered it was that time of the year, I’ll need to stay away from Lincoln Center.? Girl, you?re at a fundraiser thrown by VOGUE. You?re also a ?model? more than an actress, with several high-profile endorsement deals, several of them with fashion houses. Stop acting like you?re so ?above? fashion.
The next fumble – Scarlett was asked about Pres. Obama and Michelle Obama?s style, and she said, ?They’re both so stylish and they both have this casual, cool style that’s personal to them. They’re a really fashionable couple.” When asked about the Republicans fighting it out for their party?s nomination, Scarlett chose to discuss Rick Santorum? and his sweater vests. She said: “Oh gosh, so sad. My dad wore them and I mean they’re charming for family photos I guess and dinner with the grandparents. I think there’s an ironic way to wear a sweater vest but other than that I’m not sure.” So, Scarlett Johansson, self-appointed political advocate, can only discuss the president?s style, and the style of one of the Republicans. Because Santorum?s sweater vests are what?s disturbing, right? Not his agenda. It?s all about the vests. And remember, Scarlett?s so ABOVE fashion too.
And finally, when she was told that Republicans were criticizing the Vogue fundraiser as ?elitist,? ScarJo replied, ?Why would they say that? They are all so unfashionable. Let them say what they want!” She brought it back around to fashion. How vapid is this girl?
