When Scarlett Johansson was announced as the winner of best actress at the Tony Awards she first got up and kissed her co-star Liev Schreiber on the cheek, and then turned around and kissed her husband Ryan Reynolds, also on the cheek, as if it were an afterthought. (That video is above.) Then in her speech she eventually thanked her husband after thanking the theater community, her co-workers and family. Ryan looked pleased at the mention, but it sounded like he came last after everyone else she could think of. (That’s at 2:25 in the video above.) According to sources quoted in the National Enquirer, Ryan found Scarlett’s gratitude lacking. They could be basing this story solely on her behavior at the Tony’s, but either way it doesn’t look like she has a solid relationship with Ryan.
[Ryan Reynolds] is furious, complaining that his beautiful wife cares more about her career - and her co-star - than their marriage.
“Ryan is fuming that Scarlett blew him off so flagrantly,” a Broadway insider told The Enquirer.
“When she gave Liev a big wet kiss on national TV, it made Ryan sick.”
Scarlett - who won the award for her acclaimed role in Broadway’s “A View from the Bridge” - leapt to her feel when her name was announced.
She immediately kissed Liev - but didn’t even look in Ryan’s direction before heading toward the stage. The 25 year-old-actress eventually realized her slight, and made a hasty dash back to give Ryan a quick peck.
She then proceeded to offer a backhanded compliment to her 33-year-old husband, telling the audience: “To my Canadian, whom I live with. Ryan, thank you for becoming a theater widower for me.”
Ryan had attended the June 13 event in an attempt to quell rumors that the couple’s marriage - after only a year and eight months - is on the rocks, says the source.
“That kiss to Liev was the ultimate insult. Scarlett celebrated her win as if Ryan was invisible.”
Ryan tore into Scarlett later that night, and Scarlett accused him of ruining her special night, according to the source. There’s been tension between them ever since.

Yesterday we heard Scarlett graciously defend herself from people criticizing her Tony win so early in her Broadway career. She claimed that she understood why people found her undeserving and that she “knows what it?s like to struggle as an actor.” That’s arguable considering that she got her start on film before she was teenager, but uncertainty is part of any actor’s career I guess.
The question now is whether Scarlett’s relationship with Ryan is suffering. We’ve heard this about them before - that Scarlett and Ryan are spending too much time away from each other working, and are “growing apart” and “arguing about scheduling.” There are rumors that they’re renewing their vows on their second wedding anniversary, though, and are planning to adopt a baby from Ethiopia. I think they’re in it for the long haul, but we’ll see. If they do adopt a baby they’ll have a lot of changes to work around.

It?s not that Scarlett Johansson is not being gracious to her harshest critics - she is. There are some people who have been sniping about her victory at the Tony Awards two weekends ago. Scarlett won a Tony for her performance in A View From the Bridge, and now people are saying that she only won because she?s a movie star and she has a recognizable name, and that the Tonys should be about awarding great stage actors. ScarJo tells her critics: ?I pounded the pavement for years and I know what it’s like to struggle as an actor. A lot of it is luck and, certainly, a lot of it is opportunity — and the lack of that. So, I totally understand the frustration there.” Um? wasn?t she a child actor who transitioned gracefully into adult roles with parts in Ghost World and The Man Who Wasn?t There? Sure, I?m sure she did work hard, I?m not saying that. What I?m saying is that I doubt she struggled like all of those starving actors in New York and LA, hoping they get a dog food commercial so they can have union medial insurance.
Scarlett Johansson is firing back at critics who argue the actress is undeserving of a Tony Award for her role in Broadway’s A View From the Bridge.
“I pounded the pavement for years and I know what it’s like to struggle as an actor. A lot of it is luck and, certainly, a lot of it is opportunity — and the lack of that,” Johansson told Broadway World. “So, I totally understand the frustration there.”
The 25-year-old actress’ win prompted fellow Broadway star Hunter Foster to start a Facebook campaign, “Give The Tonys Back To Broadway.” Foster believes Johansson’s Hollywood status was the main reason behind her victory earlier this month, preventing Broadway veterans from taking home a trophy.
“The actors we’ve seen this season that we recognize from film — Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Liev Schreiber and Catherine Zeta-Jones, etc. — have not only made a huge impact on ticket sales but have given tour de force performances and all started their careers as stage actors, dedicating themselves to making an impression in the theater,” Johansson argued. “This goes to show that actors are actors, whatever the outlet, and with perseverance and drive, can cross the boundaries of the medium.”
Still, the Iron Man 2 bombshell admits she can relate to the frustrations that Foster and other critics have expressed — but she’s making no apologies.
“A lot of my friends who are struggling actors are going through the same thing. But, I can’t apologize for it. I have worked my ass off to get to where I am so I understand that struggle,” Johansson explained. “For me, it’s more about hiring the right person for the job. If somebody is cast because they are a name but they’re not right for the job, well, it’s very frustrating.”

See, the other part I do agree with, her argument that movie stars shouldn?t be disregarded or discounted for stage work when they just want to improve their technique and their credibility as actors. And I think ScarJo is taking the hit that was probably meant for Denzel and Catherine Zeta-Jones too, it?s just that Zeta and Denzel didn?t deign to give an interview about the criticism. As long as actors crave credibility and challenge, there will be movie stars on Broadway. And it is good for Broadway - it helps with the struggling New York theatres, and it helps keep people employed. Plus, it just feels like people are Kanye-ing ScarJo - she should get a few weeks to enjoy her victory without it being pissed on by theatre bitches.

Quickly being awarded what many thespians strive their entire careers to achieve, Scarlett Johansson isn't feeling sorry about her recent Tony Award win.
Garnering best actress honors for her role in "A View From the Bridge," the 25-year-old big screen beauty tells Broadway World of her critics, "I pounded the pavement for years and I know what it's like to struggle as an actor. A lot of it is luck and, certainly, a lot of it is opportunity -- and the lack of that. So, I totally understand the frustration there."

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have jumped on the celebrity adopt-a-third-world-urchin bandwagon and begun the process of obtaining their very own African orphan. According to Star Magazine:
“Scarlett has always wanted to adopt from outside the U.S.,? an insider [said]. ?She feels now is finally the right time.?
Ryan, whose older brother is adopted, and Scarlett are already working with a U.S.-based adoption agency, and they?ve narrowed the search to Ghana or Ethiopia ? the same country where Scarlett?s mom, Melanie, recently adopted a baby girl.
I’m glad she decided to go with an African baby. I’m sure her stylist already told her, but the Chinese ones are way to yellow for her skin tone and complexion. She should definitely stick with mocha or espresso colored babies if she ever plans on wearing red again. You don’t want your accessory orphan clashing with your natural hues.

She won the Best Featured Performance as an Actress category at last night?s Tony Awards, and Scarlett Johansson was so excited she forgot about her husband Ryan Reynolds.
The ?He?s Just Not That Into You? actress shot out of her seat and sprinted towards the stage before realizing that she?d forgotten to give her hunky beau a kiss.
Of course, Scarlett righted her wrong by running back to her table and planting one on Reynolds before accepting her trophy.
During her acceptance speech, Johansson gushed, "Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be on Broadway and here I am," also thanking Ryan as ?my Canadian.?

Working the red carpet like the seasoned pro that she is, Scarlett Johansson looked fabulous a the 2010 Tony Awards in New York City on Sunday (June 13).
The "Iron Man 2" actress was among the many stars turning up at the Radio City Music Hall venue for Broadway's big night being hosted by Sean Hayes.
As for Miss Johansson, she's among the night's nominees for Best Performance By a Featured Actress in a Play for her highly-praised role in "A View from the Bridge".
On the look, Scarlett donned an emerald green Elie Saab gown with accessories including ritzy jewels from Harry Winston.

Arriving for one of the biggest nights of the year, Scarlett Johansson was spotted on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California on Sunday (June 6).
Causing quite the fan frenzy, the ?Iron Man 2? actress rocked the carpet in a short green dress paired with black heels as she headed into the Gibson Amphitheatre.
Sure to be quite the action-packed night, the MTV Movie Awards are being hosted by "Parks and Recreation" star Aziz Ansari.
The show will feature other performances by Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg and Christina Aguilera, and footage from the forthcoming "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." Presenters include Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz and Robert Pattinson.
