I think we?ve talked about my general dislike of Eva Mendes before (here for her quotes about being worthy enough to play Maria Callas, here for why she?s a bad actress and here for just a general refresher). It?s not that I think she?s fug (she?s not), it?s not that I think she?s the worst actress ever (but she?s not close to being good, either) and it?s not like she?s even one of the most powerfully dumb or famewhorish celebrities out there (she only comes out and says dumb stuff when she?s promoting a movie).
But I still dislike her, and here?s why - in interview after interview after boring interview, Eva talks about what a hindrance being sexy is, much like Jessica Biel always talks about how beautiful she is, too beautiful, probably to ever win an Oscar, or like Gwyneth Paltrow?s OCD pontifications on diet and exercise. Eva?s conversational tick, her fallback position, is talking about how sexy she is and how much it sucks to be so f-cking sexy. She?s just so dumb and so boring. Oh, and anyone who claims to be all that shouldn?t appear on the Allure cover looking completely wasted, and like you have phantom fangs (it?s a trick of the light on her visible - and gross - tongue).
Eva Mendes dons Dolce & Gabbana for Michael Thompson in his New York City studio for the August 2010 cover spread of Allure, on newsstands July 20. Here are some choice quotes from the 36-year-old actress:
On her public image: ?I don?t want ?sexy? to be my defining characteristic?
On her school yearbook photos: ?One of the benefits of having a big smile and big teeth is that if you just smile you can look happy?
On a double standard existing when it comes to nudity in Hollywood: ?[When] other actresses who aren?t thought of, maybe, as being quite as attractive do full-frontal, they?re called brave. Nobody has ever said, ?Eva, you?re so brave for doing full-frontal nudity.? Just because I?m attractive doesn?t mean it?s not still scary. Why am I not brave??
On her sexy image: ?I?m definitely responsible for the image that I put out there,? she says. ?But it does become frustrating, because I don?t want ?sexy? to be my defining characteristic. I?d love for my ambition and will and intellect and sense of humor to define me as well.?

Why is she not brave? Because she gets paid a lot of money to take off her clothes in films, and that seems to be her only ?acting? talent? She?s like Megan Fox, only less annoying and less quotable. So, like a really boring version of Megan Fox. Fox used to do the same sh-t in interviews too - talk endlessly about how hot she was. Don?t these women know that they either come across as full of themselves (at best) or as incredibly, mind-numbingly insecure (at worst)?

Stepping out to take care of her shopping need, Eva Mendes was spotted making her way around Beverly Hills on Monday (June 14).
The "We Own the Night" actress looked casual cute as she hit up a local boutique - leaving a short while later with her newly purchased flower vase.
The sighting comes just after Miss Mendes chatted with W magazine about her openness to stripping down for films.
She tells, "I've never had a problem with nudity, but I don?t put it out there without a reason. I'm not an exhibitionist. But, honestly, for my art I'll do anything almost. I'll go there."
"I know I walk a fine line between being a respected actor and being what they call a sex symbol. But I've never felt objectified. Nothing you see me do is an accident. I might act like it's an accident but the opposite is true. I'm incredibly calculated when it comes to my career."

Eva Mendes? or Raquel Welsh? You decide. Eva usually has a whiff of Raquel to her, but they really styled her to look like a 1960s bombshell, didn?t they? Anyway, this is Eva for the July issue of W Magazine. In the full W Magazine piece, the writer falls into that tired and bullsh-t line of Eva being too beautiful to be recognized as a good actress. You know what? I?ve seen a few movies with Eva, and she?s not a good actress. She?s pretty, and sexy, and in an okay part, she can play sexy and pretty successfully. But let?s not pretend she?s Meryl Streep or anything. Why do people always do that with people like Eva, or Megan Fox, or Jessica Biel? I guess they haven?t done anything of note besides being pretty. And therein lies the contradiction - if Eva (or Megan, or Biel) were so concerned about being ?the hot girl? why do they always play into it, over and over and over?
On her Calvin Klein ads: ?There I was,? she says, ?all greased up, my head thrown back, and I thought, Who are you? Are you kidding me?? Later that day the curvy beauty, now ensconced in a banquette at the Carlyle hotel restaurant, laughs as she recounts how disconnected the sighting made her feel. ?There?s that little surreal moment,? Mendes says. ?I?m proud of it, absolutely, because why not? I can access that side quite easily, and I enjoy it, but certainly how boring if that was all I had to offer. The goal is to explore all sides.?
Nobody understands how funny she is: ?It?s very hard for me to be seen as funny, and the truth is, that?s where I?m most comfortable,? she says when talk turns to her latest film, The Other Guys, which opens in August and also stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Mendes plays ber woman Sheila Gamble, a Knicks dancer?turned?doctor married to a dunderhead of a forensics cop (Ferrell) who doesn?t realize what a babe his wife is. ?These are the two comments I get from people when they meet me,? says Mendes, who lives in Los Angeles but is in New York for the Metropolitan Museum of Art?s Costume Institute gala. ??You seem a lot taller on film,? and ?You?re funny.? If people hang out with me, they see I?m a ham.?
On her comedic turn in The Other Guys: ?It was completely liberating,? she says of the opportunity to play in another key. ?Never have I had so much fun with a character and felt so natural at it. Had I done this movie three years ago, I wouldn?t have had the confidence to throw it back at Will, and now, if anything, I was overly confident. I didn?t know when to stop!?

She has a boyfriend and she wants to play Maria Callas: She met her current love, music producer George Augusto, shortly after high school, and the two now own a midcentury house in the Hollywood Hills. To hear Mendes tell it, her idea of a fun night is staying home with her dog, Hugo, a Belgian Malinois, to watch the episodes of 60 Minutes she Tivo?ed. Lately she has been listening to recordings of Maria Callas, whom Mendes says she?d love to play onscreen. ?You can catch me at a very dark hour listening to an aria from Norma and crying my f—in? eyes out,? she says. ?I love doing that.?
More on Maria Callas: She?s also fascinated by the diva?s decision to abandon her career for shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. ?She gave it all up in the name of love, only to be left because she gave it up,? says Mendes, who is developing a project based on a Callas biography by Nicholas Gage. She admits that the story has become something of an obsession for her, seeing in it, perhaps, resonances with her own dual passions. ?I?m a modern woman in the sense of I take care of myself, I?m fiercely independent and I?m really ambitious,? she says. ?Yet I have these old-school thoughts ingrained in my mind. I do like to belong to a man. I love having a man in my life and being his woman at the end of the day. I know it?s a dichotomy.?
On becoming a mother: ?I?ve never had a longing to have children,? she says. ?I?ve been thinking about it lately because it?s like, Oh, God, am I going to do this? I don?t know is the answer.?

Can I say something? Eva would be a terrible Callas. Just awful. I know that sounds mean, and I seriously don?t mean Eva any harm, because she?s actually pretty harmless, but please don?t let her play Callas. Callas was an old-school diva, a larger-than-life presence, all tragedy, all drama, all passion, all of the time. Eva is… pretty. That’s it. She can’t play the part. Stepping out for a charitable evening, Eva Mendes was spotted at the DKMS 4th Annual Gala: Linked Against Leukemia in New York City last night (April 29).
The ?We Own the Night? actress showed up at Cipriani 42nd Street looking stunning in a champagne colored dress as she posed with Estelle.
On the career front, Eva will be starring alongside Sam Worthington and Keira Knightley in ?Last Night,? due in theaters later this year.
The film is about a married couple, apart for a night while the husband takes a business trip with a colleague to whom he's attracted. While he's resisting temptation, his wife encounters her past love.

Keeping a healthy diet, Eva Mendes was spotted grabbing up a vegan lunch in West Hollywood on Friday afternoon (April 3).
Clad in a Pink and white striped collared shirt, white slacks and brown strappy heels while toting a yellow handbag, the ?Training Day? darling chowed down at Real Food Daily before continuing about with the day?s agenda.
As for work efforts, Miss Mendes is currently partaking in a thriller called ?Southbound,? which co-stars Matthew McConaughey.
A synopsis via IMDB tells of the film: ?A border patrol officer finds himself caught in the middle of a war between a Mexican crime family and the U.S. immigration police when he comes into contact with a beautiful Mexican woman.?

Hard at work over the weekend, Eva Mendes debuted the tabletop collection “Vida For Espana” at Macy’s Home at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California on Saturday (January 30).
Looking classically beautiful in a 50’s style knee-length dress, the “Sin City” star greeted nearly 400 gathered viewers during the afternoon appearance.
Talking to the crowd, Miss Mendes said, “Today I’m very excited because I’m launching my dinnerware. It’s an affordable, beautiful dinner ware that is very informal, very sheik, and easy to mix and match. I really take my influences from different places that I go to, for example I was just in Istanbul, Turkey and the patterns and the culture were amazing so I guess I stole a little bit from there.”
Continuing on, Eva dishes, “Vida is about easy luxury – the colors, fabrics and textures that I live and love, brought to life in a stylish, comfortable and affordable way.”

Known already as one of the hottest women in Hollywood, Eva Mendes has yet again taken it to another level.
The 35 year-old actress took on a new ad campaign for Calvin Klein wearing only Klein Whitewashed jeans, while oiled-up and wrestling on the sand with model Jamie Dornan.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Mendes bearing skin- back in November she and Dornan were shown on the Calvin Klein billboard in SoHo in New York City that caused much controversy.
The bombshell has also appeared on television ads in a sexy manner for the company’s Secret Obession fragrance- those have ads have since been banned in America due to its raunchy nature.

Eva Mendes got all greased up and writhed around in the sand with Jamie Dornan in an effort to convince you that whitewashed jeans shouldn’t stay dead and buried where they belong, with nothing but Poison videos to remember them by. Is it working? Do you want to look like a Bret Michaels groupie yet? Personally, I’m thinking that if Calvin Klein has this raging hard on for 80s throwbacks, they could’ve just resurrected those old Brooke Shields ads.

I have an unexplainable dislike for Eva Mendes. I don?t think she?s the devil or anything, but reading one of her interviews or seeing her ?act? in any film just grates on my last nerve. I think I?ve gotten the vague impression (from her films and interviews) that she?s not really talented as an actress, but she thinks she?s God?s gift. I also get the impression that she thinks she?s mind-blowing sexy, which some people may agree with, but I think she usually looks like she just smoked a really big joint. She does that ?I?m sexy because I narrow my eyes? thing when she?s posing, and she just ends up looking like the Latina Zellweger.
Anyway, I?m just explaining why my first reaction to these new Calvin Klein ads, starring Eva and British model/actor Jamie Dornan, was along the lines of ?Oh, brother.? Writhing around? Check. Oiled up to a ridiculous degree? Check. ?Scandalous? appearance of a hint of nipple? Check. Acid-washed jeans? Check. The last Klein ads were considered “racy” too, but I think they’ve gone back to the well one too many times. It’s boring. But am I the only one who finds these photographs to actually be simply bad art? In one of the shots, Eva?s face is almost completely in shadow! Which, whatever, you?re selling jeans, you want to see the jeans. But if you?re paying Eva Mendes big bucks to star in your ads, you should show her face, right?
