With her adorable little one glued to her hip, Jessica Alba went to Barneys New York in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (April 2).
Looking fresh and springy, the "Sin City" star wore a white top, pale Pink scarf and matching flats while baby Haven was equally fashionable in a Pink shirt and bright orange shoes.
On Easter Sunday, the 31-year-old mother-of-two, hubby Cash Warren, and their two girls put on their holiday threads for an Instagram portrait.
Sharing the cute snap with her Twitter followers, Jessica tweeted, "Family photo in the driveway -kids weren't that into us... Go-figure #eastersundayrealness."

| Jessica Alba in Mary Katrantzou at the Kids Choice Awards: cute or too precious? | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Here are some final fashion photos from the Kids Choice Awards Saturday night. (Kaiser and Bedhead have some earlier coverage.) It’s a very fun end to a protracted awards season, and included a heavy-duty sliming of Sandra Bullock and Neil Patrick Harris. A list of winners is here.
First off we have Jessica Alba in a Mary Katrantzou A-line white cap sleeve dress with a blue, teal and Pink line design. (Our friends at Red Carpet Fashion Awards have the link to the dress on Net-a-Porter. It’s $4k! It’s doubtful Alba paid a dime for it of course.) It’s a very event-appropriate, cute look for her. Some may think that the curlicue design is too precious, but I love this look. Her hair and makeup are so well done too. One complaint: her shoes are too cutesy. (I have an aversion to bows on shoes, it doesn’t matter if they’re Louboutins.) Some plain pumps or strappy heels would have looked more elegant.
Here are Jaden and Willow Smith looking cute but serious. Can you believe they’re just 14 and 12? They’re both stars now and they’re used to red carpets. I love Willow’s little crop jean jacket, and I like how she paired combat boots with a dress! I used to do that in the late 80s, but my combat boots were from the military supply store, not Chanel. Jaden is dressing like Justin Bieber and I’ll leave it at that.
Here’s Kylie Jenner, whom Jaden was seen out with in London earlier this month. Her sister Kendall didn’t show up, (or least wasn’t on the red carpet that I can find) which makes me wonder if she had another engagement or if she just didn’t want to come. She’s said she’s not as into fame so she may be avoiding these things. Kylie, 15, is wearing a lot of makeup, but she’s covered up well and she’s even wearing hose. Her hoodie dress is adorable.
Finally Lucy Hale of Pretty Little Liars is looking super cute in white Christian Dior. I love this retro look!

| Jessica Alba: 'When you become a mom, the last thing you want to do is feel judged' | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Jessica Alba is still promoting her book, The Honest Life, which promotes living green and provides instructions on how to achieve toxin-free (except for chain smoking, that is) household methods, which seem to be slightly less luxurious lifestyle tips than Gwyneth Paltrow tends to hand out to the peasants. Alba seems to be taking great care to distance her brand from that of haughty Goop, and it’s sort of working because recipes for homemade baby food are definitely more accessible than instructing one’s readers (in the case of Goop) to only use $52 wrapping paper or purchase $90 white t-shirts that are flimsier than what I bought at Target today.
I’ll admit that Alba’s starting to win me over just a bit with her new Honest branding, but maybe that’s just because I’d rather hear her talk about this stuff than how it’s so hard to be sexy in Hollywood. Although I do still find it ridiculous that Alba’s giving tips about how to easily prep an adult dinner party while one’s children are in the bath, but whatever. Now Alba’s talked to People about how she won’t judge you if you don’t follow all of her tips, especially the ones on parenting:
On parental judging: “When you become a mom, the last thing you want to do is feel judged because everybody is trying to do the best they can. My girlfriend who is co-sleeping with her kids and may or may not be breastfeeding her 3-year-old shouldn’t hide that. She should be fine with that, and she shouldn’t feel judged. And then my friend who never even attempted really to breastfeed because it was too exhausting for her … she shouldn’t feel like she’s a bad mom.”
Stay-at-home vs. working moms: “I have friends who literally are better parents when they are going to work every day for long days and they have weekend time or night time with their kids. I have other friends who cannot even imagine leaving their child for one second and need to be attached literally at the hip, and that is fine as well.”
She doesn’t hesitate to take Honor out of school: “I feel like I have friends who can’t take their kids out of school [because] they’re so into school attendance that that is their number one priority. For me, I?m my kids’ happiness. Once my daughter gets old enough … if we still are continuing to travel this much, I’ll bring the tutor and she’ll learn. It’s more important for me to spend time with her than to not.”
Her family’s diet: “We don?t look at kale or broccoli or squash as healthy. That’s just what they eat. I try to give them whole foods and whole grains as much as humanly possible. I just feel like they will thrive on that. Will they go to dinner with the family to a chain restaurant? Sure we do!”
Indulgences do exist for her kids: “If they’re going to have a dessert, I like to make a dessert with Honor. We’ll make little cupcakes and that will be what they have two or three times a week and then the rest of it will be fruit or applesauce. They’re such little spazzes when they have too much refined sugar and flour. You know? They’re mental.”
[From People]
Once again, I’ll draw a parallel here between Alba and Gwyneth, who has lamented the fact that mothers judge other mothers (all while being judgy of other mothers while sanctimoniously Gooping about motherhood). I get what Alba’s saying here. Unless children are in danger or being neglected (as in the obvious case of Octomom), I don’t think that non-parents should judge parents (we’ve all heard people say, “When I have a kid, they won’t do _____ or act like ____”), and I don’t think parents should judge each other because they should just worry about their own parenting skills. Yet none of us are perfect people in the parenting department, and we will all still judge each other, and that includes Alba. No matter what she’s saying here, I know damn well she’d judge me for letting my kid play with plastic toys.

From the neck up, Jessica Alba looks great. From the neck down, it just goes from bad to worse. Her jacket-blouse looks like a suede sweatshirt and both Nepal and the Philippines would consider those pants a desecration of their national flags.
Patterned pants are one thing you will never ever catch me in, no matter how trendy they might be. They can work for some people — namely the rail-thin 5’10?-and-over crowd — but for everyone else, they make you look shorter and squattier and virtually double your thigh circumference. I don’t need any help in that department. The Colonel and Captian D have had that one covered for a while now.
But for the rail-thin 5’10?-and-over crowd: you could always ease into the trend instead of charging headlong into it. Go with a sleeker pattern or texture instead of a full-on graphic print. Then get back to living your beautiful life with your other beautiful friends and laughing the laugh of the truly carefree.

| Jessica Alba: My lifestyle tips are 'much more grounded' than Gwyneth Paltrow's | Added 11 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Did you know that there’s a new celebrity lifestyle book on the market besides Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest insufferable tome featuring guidelines on how to force your family to subsist upon a sumptuous, anti-bread/pasta/eggs/dairy diet? Well, there is indeed another “how to live your life”-type book, The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You, by Jessica Alba. These are photos of Alba last week at signing events in Florida and New York, and the Goop comparison is something worth exploring.
Alba’s new book is an extension of her brand at The Honest Company, which is (as we’ve discussed on prior occasions), a business that sells baby products (core item – diapers), household cleaning products, and body care products. Last April, Star published a story about how Alba had allegedly reached out to Goop for website advice only to be snubbed, but I stopped believing that story when I saw that Goop posted a link to Honest in one of her weekly Goopletters. This also makes sense because Goop likes to feel superior, so of course she handed out advice to Alba. She hands out advice to everyone! It’s probably bad advice, but Goop thinks it’s good stuff, so whatever. Luckily, Alba’s new book has narrowed its focus not upon gross diets but on eliminating toxins from the household environment. She’s a big plastic avoider, so she and I probably wouldn’t get along (I’m the Ziploc queen), but here are some details from Alba’s book. Interestingly enough, she sets herself apart from Gwyneth:
This is how she lives & she does it herself: “I absolutely do these things. That’s why I wrote the book. There’s lots of options, like delivery services for fresh produce that is organic, if people just want to do a couple of things in the book that are supereasy.”
She’s more relatable than other celebrity lifestyle gurus: “Alicia Silverstone is a vegan, so she’s the extreme side of it. Gwyneth Paltrow probably lives a very similar lifestyle, but I didn’t grow up with a bunch of money, so my tips are much more grounded: Repurposing things and making things at home.”
Avoid everyday toxins: “Many people don’t even realize that there is lead in their lipstick, or that petrochemicals in your laundry detergent could be making you sick.”
She’s not telling you how to live:“You can take what you want from the book.”
What’s a typical Alba day?
7 a.m.: Feed your tot the homemade baby food you made over the weekend by pureeing a pound of peeled veggies with chicken stock, a clove of garlic, fresh ginger and sea salt. Serve yourself a green smoothie by blending cucumber, kale, celery, apples, ginger and lemon juice.
8 a.m.: Put your best face forward by whipping up a quick coffee scrub, stirring a tablespoon of finely ground java with a 1/2 cup of full-fat Greek yogurt, and a dash of lemon juice if your skin is oily, or coconut oil for dry skin.
9 a.m.: Dressing is a snap since your closet is so organized – labels are a must! And with all your wardrobe staples (a fitted blazer, the perfect jeans and playful scarves), there?s always something to wear.
Noon: You?re planning a dinner party tonight, so hit your local greenmarket or specialty store during lunch for fresh organic ingredients.
5 p.m.: Get back to your pre-pregnancy weight by working out with a friend or chasing your three-year-old around. A chiropractor and prenatal yoga teacher are godsends for mommies-to-be.
6 p.m. Prep the dinner party while readying your kids for bed. Roast two chickens in the oven while the little ones take their bath.
7 p.m. Put the kids to bed; setting an early bedtime makes time for you and your hubby later in the evening.
8 p.m.: Party time! Serve the roasts with premade nuts, cheese and olives, and have the guests bring the wine and dessert.
[From NY Daily News]
Did Jessica just throw a little shade towards Goop by saying that her own lifestyle tenets “are much more grounded“? It’s probably true, of course, but I can’t imagine that Goop will be pleased to hear that declaration since she’s trying to appear less theatening and appeal more to the masses with her second cookbook. We all know that Goop tells the peasants to stay in fancy hotels like the Ritz because they’re totally worth it, and she can’t possibly conceive of an existence that doesn’t include an endless supply of cash from her own endorsement deals and the lucrative career of her rock star husband.
In contrast, Alba is clearly the breadwinner in her family. I think her the official profession of her husband, Cash Warren, is that of film producer, but he only has one film that he’s working on this year, and this is his first movie project in three years. Alba probably also has a large overhead with a Hollywood home, childcare expenses, managerial fees, and the like. Alba knows what it’s like to be on a (relative) budget, and as CB pointed out last year, The Honest Company’s diapers and household supplies are reasonably priced, unlike the useless $270 Pink acrylic tray that Goop was selling last year. So sure, Alba wins in relatability. She seems a little obsessive over everyday toxins, but someone’s gotta do it. There’s virtually no way to cut out all ambient pollution from one’s life, but making changes in one’s home is a good start.

Nibbling away as she chatted with friends, Jessica Alba traveled through Miami International Airport on Wednesday (March 13).
The "Sin City" star looked cute in a hot Pink top, patterned blue scarf, black jeans, and matching boots as she munched on popcorn and sipped a cool beverage.
While in town, the 31-year-old actress and entrepreneur promoted her book, "The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You."
In an interview with the Miami Herald, Jessica talked about her two girls who inspired her to create her eco-friendly family products through The Honest Company.
Gushing about the pair, Ms. Alba says, "Honor loves being the big sister. She?s a little sidekick to me, helping me take care of Haven. She?s also really becoming interested in cooking and creating things in the kitchen. Haven is such a bright light and so sweet natured. It is amazing how fast time flies as a mom."

Here’s Jessica Alba at the Shitzy Chen fashion show at Paris Fashion Week yesterday. I’m not exactly sure what she’s wearing just that it wasn’t long enough to prevent everyone from seeing her crotch. She probably should have put that sweater on her lap way earlier.
