Kicking off her weekend a bit early, Katie Holmes showed up at the Third Annual Global Citizens Festival Launch Party in New York City last night (July 10).
Joined by Jane Rosenthal and Hugh Evan, the ?Teaching Mrs. Tingle? actress smiled in a black jumpsuit while posing for photos outside Milk Studios.
Holmes recently told Glamour that rather than using a personal shopper, she prefers to select her wardrobe herself.
?I do like to buy my own clothes because I like to support designers. I know the work that goes into it. I have a tightly edited closet. I like what I like. And I repeat a lot. But I?m always comfortable in jeans?I feel like I can really do anything when I?m in them.?

Katie Holmes went all out at last night’s Met Gala. By “all out,” I mean that she decided to wear one of the most awful gowns in recent memory. She has a lot of competition from the other ladies in this post. Katie’s attempt to fit last night’s theme was this mustard-colored Marchesa ball gown. The dress has already spawned comparisons to Belle’s dress from Beauty and the Beast. I want to give Katie points for proudly wearing this dress. You can tell she really loves it. She’s glowing underneath this monstrosity. To be fair, she also once liked standing next to Tom Cruise. Yes, let’s blame this on some Tom PTSD. Something nice: her hair looks fantastic from the side.
Kate Upton proved that models don’t always have style. This dress … I don’t know how to summarize it. It’s see-thru, but it’s not. There’s a corset and stripey faux-panels. On top of all that, her girls are busting out. The statement necklace and earrings look plastic, and that headpiece rivals Madonna’s 1980s “Borderline” hairdo.
Karolina Kurkova looked like a very bold, fun orgami game. This dress is Marchesa. Anywhere else, it would have been awful, but it works for this event.
Elizabeth Olsen wore a short, ice-blue Miu Miu dress. Very ice-capadey. The yellow and red strappy sandals are confusing, as is the turquoise clutch.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was a contender in this Valentino gown that looked like 1960s curtains. Maybe she wanted to go mod and match her new pixie cut.
Kristen Wiig wore a Balenciaga and Alexander Wang combo ensemble featuring a black sparkle-mullet dress with skinny tap pants. The halter neckline of the dress looks awkward, and her makeup is washed out. Kristen is actually the best of this bunch, but that’s not saying much.

Gearing up for another year of excellence from the Metropolitan Museum of Art?s Costume Institute, Katie Holmes was in the house for the 2014 Met Gala tonight (May 5).
Eager to catch a glimpse of her yellow gown, fans and shutterbugs alike clamored to catch a glimpse as the ?Batman Begins" star meandered around the arrivals area, chatting with other famous folks.
The 2014 Met Gala celebrates the opening of the redesigned Costume Institute and First Lady Michelle Obama will be on hand to officially kick things off.
Among the evening?s highlights will be the unveiling of the newly-named Anna Wintour Costume Center, as well as plenty of amazing frocks from the top designers across the globe.

Enjoying an evening out, Katie Holmes attended the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of "Miss Meadows" on Monday evening (April 21).
The star of the film, Katie looked gorgeous in an off the shoulder chocolate brown frock as she posed for waiting shutterbugs before heading inside for the premiere.
Written and directed by Karen Leigh Hopkins, the "Miss Meadows" follows "a proper elementary school teacher who moonlights as a vigilante."
The esteemed Tribeca Film Festival runs through Sunday, April 27.

Here are a selection of photos of Katie Holmes from the past few days as she enjoys her freedom on the streets of NYC. I like to check in with Katie on occasion. She’s not doing anything particularly interesting here except for walking with two Starbucks cups and listening to her iPod. She’s always listening to music, and I like to imagine that she’s jamming out to Eminem. That second coffee cup has to belong to someone else, right? Suri’s too young for sudden spikes of caffeine.
I’ve nearly given up all dreams of Katie buying coffee for Jamie Foxx, so she’s probably not saving that second cup for him. The tabloids are abuzz with who Katie should date next. Last week’s issue of Star pushed a story about Katie hooking up with Jason Segel, but Katie’s rep shot that story down. On the surface, Katie and Jason would be a cute couple. There would be some awkwardness from Jason dating Katie’s ex-Dawson’s Creek costar, Michelle Williams. Jason also has some history with substance abuse, and I think that would be a deal breaker for Katie. She needs her first real post-Tom Cruise relationship to be a lighthearted one, so I won’t ship a Segel-Holmes coupling.
What do you think of Katie’s fashion choices here? She’s no longer a designer since Holmes & Yang folded, so she’s free to wear whatever she wants without true scrutiny. She has freed herself from neither fug booties nor skinny jeans.

The "Teaching Mrs. Tingle" star looked cute in her black jacket, black skinnies, and black boots with a camouflage handbag as she prepared to film her new ABC pilot.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, the new show is styled similarly to "Dangerous Liaisons" and follows two powerful socialites who express love and rivalry through manipulation of others.
In her return to the small screen, Katie will play Ann, "a woman of education and breeding who, with her husband, runs a philanthropic foundation that helps bring clean water to African villages."
