Katie Holmes is working hard to get her acting career (back?) on track. She did score a small role alongside Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges in the upcoming adaptation of The Giver. Katie is also, intentionally or not, sexing up her own everyday image by becoming one party of a rumored hot fling with Jamie Foxx.
What better way to combine both new aspects — fearless actress and sexy 30-something woman — of Katie’s image than by casting her as a rumored candidate for a role in 50 Shades of Grey? This actually sounds like a disaster. I haven’t read any of the 50 Shades books but understand that Elena shows up in 50 Shades Darker as a sort of “Mrs. Robinson” character. Elena is supposed to have shown Christian Grey the S&M ropes. Katie is wayyy too sweet to pull off such a role. I think. Let’s ponder this, shall we?
Katie Holmes is sexing up her silver-screen image to put herself back on the movie map. And she’s hoping to land a red-hot role in the film version of 50 Shades of Grey!
Sources say that Katie, 34, plans on going platinum blonde for the role of Elena Lincoln, kinky billionaire and main character Christian Grey’s longtime sex and business partner.
The “Elena” character is known in the best-selling book as a Mrs. Robinson-type who schools Christian in the dark, deviant world of bondage and sadomasochism.
The former Tom Cruise has been keeping busy. She had a role this past spring opposite Luke Kirby in the film Mania Days. And she’s been in South Africa recently shooting the ensemble flick The Giver with Meryl Streep and Taylor Swift.
But none of those roles have given her the push she feels she needs to make it to the top of Hollywood’s A-list.
“She’s looking at this as the role of a lifetime for her,” said a pal. “It will shock a lot of people, but she thinks Hollywood will sit up and take notice. She knows she has to reinvent herself.”
When Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam was originally cast as Christian, Katie assumed she wouldn’t get the role of “Elena” because they’d had sex scenes together in the 2002 film Abandon. katie didn’t think producers would pair them again.
But now that Charlie’s out and Irish actor Jamie Dornan is in, katie is determined to win over the film’s execs.
It will also make ex-hubby Cruise fume, say sources.

For what it’s worth (and it’s not much), Gossip Cop has already said this story is crap. That doesn’t mean Katie’s team isn’t putting out feelers to see what the general internet reaction would be to her playing Elena. This is exactly the same method that Jena Malone used to capture the role of Johanna Mason in Catching Fire. It worked for Jena, and I can actually believe that Katie would think a 50 Shades role would help her climb to “the top of Hollywood’s A-list.” At the very least, Katie might be aiming for B-list.
As predicted, Katie has completely ignored Tori Spelling’s recent insults. Atta girl.

Taking her little girl away for a fall break, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise went on a safari at the Aquila Game Reserve in South Africa on Saturday (October 19).
The "Dawson's Creek" star wore a green sweatshirt, jeans, and a black hat as her little girl skipped along beside her to embark on the adventure.
While in South Africa, the 34-year-old actress is shooting her new movie, "The Giver," based on the popular novel.
Hitting theaters next August, the film co-stars Alexander Skarsgard, Meryl Streep, Taylor Swift, and Jeff Bridges.

Hot damn. I don’t think it’s possible for me to convey in words how excited this story makes me feel. Kaiser accurately stated how we all want great things for Katie Holmes in her post-Cruise era, but I want more than mere happiness or professional success for the former female member of TomKat. I want her to find a great sexual relationship with a guy who will rock her world. The relationship doesn’t have to last, but I want her to find some actual — you know — sexual fulfillment from a male member of the human species.
Jamie Foxx could be that man.
In late August, we heard faint buzzings that Katie danced in close proximity to Jamie during a Hamptons party that featured Pharrell’s solo rendition of “Blurred Lines.” It really sounded like they were just pals, and I wrote off the story as tabloid fiction.
Now In Touch has spoken to “multiple sources” that say Katie and Jamie are totally getting it on. The Mail would have us hope that Katie was getting cozy with George Clooney, but we know better than that. Katie doesn’t need another man who treats her as an accessory. She needs a man who can deliver in the most important ways. Ahem.
“Katie and Jamie have been dating for a while,” an insider reveals to In Touch, adding that Jamie has secretly been spending time at Katie’s apartment. “They’re very Mission: Impossible about their romance.”
A second source confirms to In Touch that one early morning in mid-September, a driver pulled in front of the Trump Soho Hotel, prepared to take Jamie to the set of his new flick Annie — but was surprised when Katie stepped into the limo instead. “A hotel employee confirmed that Katie had stayed at the hotel with Jamie and that she was taking his car,” the second source reveals. “So the driver drove her home to her Chelsea apartment.”
Though sparks were clearly flying between Katie and Jamie, 45, when they danced together to Robin Thicke?s sexy “Blurred Lines” at a Hamptons charity bash in late August, Katie?s rep insisted they were still just “friends.” But with Jamie?s long friendship with Tom — who he once said “changed the projection of my career” — on the line, it?s no surprise the new couple want to keep things quiet. “Whoever you’re dating, don’t let anybody know!” intensely private Jamie once told Oprah Winfrey, but added, “I’m very loving … when it comes to being there [for someone].”

Blah blah blah, Tom Cruise. Jamie shouldn’t pay any heed to any “help” that Tom offered him under the guise of Xenu’s prophecy. Get that, Katie. Get it hard!
For the record, Jamie’s people tell People that he and Katie only danced together, and they’re not a thing. Uh-huh. I know this story may not be true, but I want it to be!

I think I?ve told this story before, but it?s worth retelling in this context. When I was about 13 years old, I found a pair of jeans that I loved. The jeans were incredibly tight. Too tight. Unflatteringly tight. Still, I wore them. I wore them until my mom said, ?You need to stop wearing those jeans because no one needs to see the outline of your vagina.? These Katie Holmes photos made me think of that.
Katie was walking around NYC yesterday, wearing nearly the same outfit she was seen in on Friday. Skinny jeans, a sweater/poncho-like thing and booties. The purse is Derek Lam, by the way. I think we?ve all established that we want Katie to do great things post-Cruise. We want her to look great and do great work. Does this outfit establish that? Or does it make you kind of sad for her?
For me, it?s all about the unflattering skinny jeans. So few women can really pull them off, and I have to say? Katie Holmes is not one of them. She looks poured into them and like if she turns her body the wrong way, she?s going to cut off circulation to her lower half. But I do kind of like the t-neck, lord help me. It?s kind of cute. I like the idea of this better than the execution.

Always happy to help others, Katie Holmes showed up in Times Square, New York City today (October 9) for an appearance on ?Good Morning America.?
Joined by her cosmetics collaborator Bobbi Brown, the ?Disturbing Behavior? actress gave makeovers to women who were recovering from breast cancer.
Katie shared, ?It?s so exciting to be working with such wonderful people. I love working with Bobbi, I love working with John. I love working with all the people at Alterna.?
?And I think that it?s been wonderful, since it?s breast cancer awareness month, that everyone can be involved together.?

Kicking off her day with some mommy duties, Katie Holmes took her daughter Suri Cruise to school this morning (October 4) in New York City.
The ?Dawson?s Creek? darling donned a blue blouse with a printed skirt and heels as she held her little girl?s hand and scurried past photographers.
Katie told InStyle magazine that while most mothers see having short hair as a time-saver, she had a horrible experience trying to tame her own coif when it was cropped.
"When it comes to hair, I find it easier to manage when it's long. It's just more versatile. I liked my hair short when [hair stylist] Enzo Angileri styled it - he did the cut. But when I tried it on my own, I was like, 'This isn't working!'"

Heading out in the sunny Big Apple, Katie Holmes took a stroll with a friend on Monday (September 30).
The "Dawson's Creek" star wore a light blue blouse, blue jacket, and jeans as she smiled brightly and took a photo of a cute couple on a Vespa.
Though we haven't seen her on the big screen in awhile, the 34-year-old actress has several film projects in the works.
Currently in post-production is "Days and Nights," a modern retelling of Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull," set in rural New England over Memorial Day weekend.

Consider this your periodic Katie Holmes news dump since we don’t write about her that much anymore. She’s been keeping to herself lately by enjoying girls nights out in NYC and holding it together professionally in her own way. Katie is currently designing her own Bobbi Brown make-up line, which is weird because she rarely ever bothers with make-up unless she’s at an event. These are photos of Katie at the opening of the new TAO nightclub in NYC. She went casual in jeans, a striped jacket, and a belly shirt. She’s having fun, and her hair looks great.
Current “it girl” Emily Ratajkowski was also in attendance too. I have such a girl crush on her.
In a strange clash of worlds, Michael Shannon showed up. Mr. Supervillain wore a bright blue polo shirt and looks very orange.
Katie’s movie career is also on a bit of an upswing too. I am not convinced that her two most recently filmed projects, Mania Days (the wet t-shirt movie) and Miss Meadows (the cute outfits movie), will go anywhere at all. There’s some good news though — Katie just signed onto a Meryl Streep movie called The Giver:
Katie Holmes has closed a deal to join Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges in The Giver, a drama from The Weinstein Co. and Walden Media that’s being directed by Phillip Noyce.
Brenton Thwaites is the young star of the sci-fi project, which tells of a society in which there is no conflict, racism or sickness.
Thwaites plays a young boy who is selected for his life service as the Receiver of Memories and works with The Giver (Bridges), an old man who teaches the boy to use his unique gifts of the senses. Streep is the society’s Chief Elder, an authoritative and antagonistic woman who assigns the young their tasks.
Holmes will play Thwaites’ mother, a strict obeyer of the laws that govern what is described as an antiseptic society.
The movie, which is eyeing a budget of around $25 million, is being produced by Nikki Silver of Tonik Productions along with Neil Koenigsberg and Bridges.
Michael Mitnick wrote the most recent script adapting the Lois Lowry YA novel.
A shoot in South Africa is being planned, although it is likely that Steep will shoot her scenes in England, where she is filming Disney’s Into the Woods.

This sounds like an excellent career decision on Katie’s part. Her role isn’t too big and doesn’t sound demanding, but with Meryl and Jeff Bridges on board, people will actually watch this movie.

Scoping out what is likely to be a new hotspot close to home, Katie Holmes attended the TAO downtown grand opening in New York City on Saturday (September 28).
The "Dawson's Creek" star bared a bit of her belly in a white top, black and white jacket, and black jeans as she posed for pics on the red carpet.
Earlier in the day, the 34-year-old actress headed out to the 2013 Global Citizen Festival to support ending extreme poverty.
Varying her outfit just slightly, at that event she swapped her black jeans for blue ones while wearing her hair pulled back.
