Natalie Portman tells Entertainment Weekly that she no longer partakes in weed but that she did when she was younger. OMG, she’s so easy to relate too!
?I smoked weed in college, but I haven?t smoked in years. I?m too old. I wish I was that cool, but I?m like an old lady now. I?m in bed by 10 p.m. I can?t do that anymore.?
While she doesn’t smoke anymore, she did profess her love for “stoner comedies.” Coincidentally, that was a perfect segue into her upcoming movie Your Highness. Damn, this college girl is smooth.
?When I sat down with [the director], he was like, ?The girl?s going to be funny here.? To have him be able to think of me in that way was so lucky, because [the role] is a real departure from anything I?ve done on film.?
Uh huh. Okay. Back to the weed thing. Even if she did smoke weed still, everyone would be whining because they’d just assume she’d be toking while she was pregnant. Which isn’t a bad idea actually. I bet it makes their baby much more mellow and manageable. Possibly retarded as well. But let’s not focus on the negatives.

I?ve just spent WAY too much time trying to find photos of Natalie Portman looking stoned. It actually wasn?t that difficult, considering that in many of her pregnant photos, she looks kind of baked, but I debated whether or not that was appropriate. Guess what? It is! And I don?t mean that she looks pregnant-baked in a nasty way - I often think super-pregnant women look baked. It?s the hormones, I guess. They just look kind of out-of-it and blissed-out, which is how they probably look when they?re stoned.
Anyway, Natalie Portman smoked the reefer. Back in the day, when she was in college. She talked about the good ol? days to Entertainment Weekly:
Black Swan star Natalie Portman makes her first post-Oscar movie appearance this Friday in the stoner comedy Your Highness. She?s also developing Best Buds, a buddy comedy about a marijuana-laced road trip, with her production company Handsomecharlie Films.
But just because Portman is taking the high road in her work doesn?t mean she?s doing so in real life, too.
?I love stoner comedies. I smoked weed in college, but I haven?t smoked in years,? Portman told EW in December, a few weeks before announcing her pregnancy. ?I?m too old. I wish I was that cool, but I?m like an old lady now. I?m in bed by 10 p.m. I can?t do that anymore.?
Portman explained that her interest in Your Highness was sparked when director David Gordon Green assured her that her role, an arrow-slinging female warrior, wouldn?t just be window dressing.
?When I sat down with David, he was like, ?The girl?s going to be funny here,?? said Portman. ?To have him be able to think of me in that way was so lucky, because [the role] is a real departure from anything I?ve done on film.?
[From Entertainment Weekly]
I have to say, Natalie Portman doesn?t look too annoying in the trailers for Your Highness, but I?m admitting that through my obvious Danny McBride dong haze. So, even though Natalie doesn?t look smug and pretentious in the trailer, and even though she?s probably barely going to promote this movie, she still wants to gift us with one eye-rolling interview. Sure, I believe she smoked pot, and I bet she enjoys stoner comedies too. But she ruins it by reminding us all that she?s an OSCAR-WINNING dramatic actress who gets to pull rank and demand changes to her character. If Natalie is as funny as she seems to think she is, why don?t we ever see it in her interviews, by the way?

She?s one of the top actresses in Hollywood, but unfortunately Natalie Portman's new film is shrouded in investor lawsuits.
According to a report, ?Hesher? is set to be released in theaters soon, but the legal drama is just getting started.
The film?s investors are claiming that the production company?s ?slick lawyers? fraudulently concealed their own financial interest in the movie and brought in extra monetary help to avoid being foreclosed on.
Now everyone is fussing about the financial future of the project, as the original investors could get screwed out of their returns regardless of how the film does in theaters and on DVD.

Staying bundled up in the chilly spring weather, Natalie Portman was spotted hitting the streets of New York City earlier today (March 28).
The 29-year-old kept cozy in a knee-length black coat, blue hooded sweatshirt, black leggings, and gray and blue running shoes as she tended to her week-beginning agenda.

Earlier this week, we covered an interview the Los Angeles Times did with Benjamin Millepied, Natalie Portman?s baby-daddy and choreographer on Black Swan. Benjamin seemed to be defending (sort of) Natalie from criticism that there was perhaps a white-washing regarding her ballet skills in Black Swan. Natalie?s ?stunt ballerina? Sarah Lane had given an interview in December where she claimed people from the studio ?were trying to create this facade that she had become a ballerina in a year-and-a-half. So I knew they didn’t want to publicize anything about me.” Natalie had talked a lot about how much work she did - more than a year of preparation in ballet and dance, transforming her body and losing weight - in many interviews while promoting Black Swan. Benjamin backed her up in the LAT interview, saying that ?85%? of what you see on film is actually Natalie. So, of course, Sarah Lane had to give yet another interview, and this time she?s really bringing it:
The ballerina who served as a dancing double for Natalie Portman?s Oscar-winnning role in Black Swan tells EW she has been the victim of a ?cover-up? to mislead the public about how much dancing Portman actually did in the film. ?Of the full body shots, I would say 5 percent are Natalie,? says Sarah Lane, 27, an American Ballet Theatre soloist who performed many of the film?s complicated dance sequences, allowing Portman?s face to be digitally grafted onto her body. ?All the other shots are me.?
Lane?s claim follows a March 23 L.A. Times article in which Portman?s fianc and Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied said Lane?s work in the film was far less significant. ?There are articles now talking about her dance double [American Ballet Theatre dancer Sarah Lane] that are making it sound like [Lane] did a lot of the work, but really, she just did the footwork, and the fouetts, and one diagonal [phrase] in the studio,? he said. ?Honestly, 85 percent of that movie is Natalie.?
Lane disagrees. ?The shots that are just her face with arms, those shots are definitely Natalie,? she says. ?But that doesn?t show the actual dancing.? Lane admits that she was never promised a particular title for her six weeks of work on the film, though she was disappointed to see that she is credited only as ?Hand Model,? ?Stunt Double,? and ?Lady in the Lane? (a brief walk-on role).
Lane also says that Black Swan producer Ari Handel specifically told her not to talk about her work to the press, even though she claims there was no such stipulation in her contract. ?They wanted to create this idea in people?s minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar,? says Lane. ?It is demeaning to the profession and not just to me. I?ve been doing this for 22 years?. Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you?re a movie star??
Reps for Portman, Fox Searchlight, and Handel have yet to provide comments on the matter.
Lane is barely seen in promotional materials for the movie, including a VFX reel posted by studio Fox Searchlight that appears to show all the digital alterations made to key dance sequences. An unverified version of that reel, leaked to YouTube, seems to shows how digital face replacement was used to put Portman?s head on Lane?s body. (The clip was included in a blog post by Dance Magazine?s Wendy Perron, who wrote about Lane?s story earlier this month.)
According to Lane, Portman?s dramatic transformation into a ballerina ? a narrative firmly at the center of her successful Oscar campaign ? wasn?t as impressive as the public was led to believe. ?I mean, from a professional dancer?s standpoint, she doesn?t look like a professional ballet dancer at all and she can?t dance in pointe shoes. And she can?t move her body; she?s very stiff,? says Lane. ?I do give her a lot of credit because in a year and a half she lost a lot of weight and she really tried to go method and get into a dancers head and really feel like a ballet dancer.?
In interviews, Portman didn?t hide the fact that she had used a body double for key sequences in the film, though Lane?s name, and the extent of her work, were played down.
?I do have a double for the complicated turning stuff,? Portman told EW last November. ?It was not anything I ever could have done in a year, nothing I could?ve caught up with. But I think it was just better for all of us if I did as much as possible.?
Lane insists she isn?t speaking out of jealousy over Portman?s acclaim. ?[Natalie] is an amazing actress, for sure,? she says. ?I know that it?s not a personal thing against me. I know that it?s just a political thing. It?s just unfortunate that I kind of lost credit.?
[From Entertainment Weekly]
While it does sound like Lane has a larger axe to grind than lost credit, I completely agree with many of her points, especially ?They wanted to create this idea in people?s minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar? It is demeaning to the profession and not just to me. I?ve been doing this for 22 years?. Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you?re a movie star?? I?d like to see Portman refute that. I really would.
And seriously, what would it hurt for Darren Aronofsky to come out and seriously discuss how much Lane was utilized in the final film, and what Natalie?s year of preparation really got her as far as quality? She?s got the Oscar already - they can?t take it back. If these accusations just sit around, hanging in the air, Natalie?s Oscar win does seem tainted, and like the campaign was waged on false pretenses.
Just to play devil?s advocate and actually go pro-Portman (I know, shocking!), as I said, it does sound like Lane has an axe to grind. Perhaps it?s about money, perhaps about the film production wasting her time, perhaps it?s about her genuinely feeling insulted by being ignored. Or maybe Natalie really did do a lot of her own dancing, and Lane is just a famewhore trying to get attention. But if that was the case, why didn?t she speak up during the Oscar campaign, when it actually would have gotten so much attention?
So who do you believe - the self-proclaimed wronged ballerina, or Smugface Conceiving The Conception Portman and her Ballet Famewhore K-Fed?
UPDATE: The studio released a statement about Lane?s comments. The official response: ?We were fortunate to have Sarah there to cover the more complicated dance sequences and we have nothing but praise for the hard work she did. However, Natalie herself did most of the dancing featured in the final film.? MOST is not technical enough. I want a percentage!

Tending to her duties as a diligent pet owner, Natalie Portman was spotted picking up after her pooch as they walked the streets of Tribeca, New York City on Saturday afternoon (March 26).
Dressed casually in a black coat, jeans and a Pink scarf, the Oscar winning actress made sure not to leave any potential foot mines for fellow pedestrians as she and Whiz got themselves a little fresh air and exercise on what was a chilly day in the Big Apple.
Meanwhile, Miss Portman is currently gearing up for the release of her new adventure/comedy flick "Your Highness" - which hits theaters on April 8th.
With a new red-band trailer having just hit the web, a plot summary of the film via Universal Pictures reads: "Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world-Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent's fiance before their kingdom is destroyed. Thadeous (McBride) has spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people. Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he's settled for a life of wizard's weed, hard booze and easy maidens. But when Fabious' bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux)... "

Poor Natalie Portman. Poor Ballet K-Fed. They didn?t even get to bask in the glow of their dual Oscar win (right?!) without Mike Huckabee coming along and pissing all over it. Us Weekly reports that Natalie and Benjamin did get a little post-Oscar ?babymoon? (a holiday before the baby comes) to Napa Valley wine country. According to Us Weekly?s witness, ?They were really low-key? she was in sweats, and Natalie let a busboy feel her baby bump.? So, it sounds like all is well in ballet-and-Oscar heaven? Not so fast! In Touch Weekly reports that Natalie and Ben have been fighting over where they?re going to live once the baby comes:
The post-Oscar honeymoon is over! There?s new tension between pregnant Natalie Portman and her fianc, Benjamin Millepied.
?His career - ballet, directing and acting - is really starting to take off and he needs to be in new York and LA for a few years to work,? an insider tells In Touch.
Natalie wants to put her career on the back burner to focus on motherhood and their family: ?She told Benjamin that she doesn?t want to raise their child around the film industry and that she wants to move out of the country to Paris,? says the insider.
But Benjamin recently told Details that he knows he needs to strike while the iron is hot, noting there ?are a couple of things? he hopes to shop to Broadway producers. Adds the insider, ?Benjamin wants to stay in New York because he?s in more demand than ever!?
[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]
Eh. I?ll buy that Benjamin is pushing to be in New York and LA, but I won?t buy that Natalie is pushing to move to France. She?s almost always lived in New York, hasn?t she? She?s a New York girl, and my bet is that she?s probably made up her mind to raise the baby there. Now, I will totally buy that Benjamin has a million different projects that he?s signed on for since his profile got significantly raised by impregnating Natalie Portman, and that those projects will take him all over the place. And that?s what I think they?re fighting over. That, and how he’s a “director” now.

She?s the face of Christian Dior fragrance, but Natalie Portman wants nothing to do with John Galliano ever since he made some anti-Semitic statements
The ?Black Swan? actress commented on an amateur video that hit the internet yesterday showing John, who appeared to be drunk, saying ?I love Hitler.?
Natalie declared, "I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.?
?I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful."

She won the top honor at last night?s Academy Awards, and Natalie Portman was glowing for more reasons than one.
After nabbing the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in ?Black Swan,? the 29-year-old beauty spoke of her pregnancy while telling reporters, ?One of the most exciting things about being pregnant is that I'm accepting the complete unknown. It's a complete mystery and miracle. It's really just accepting that I have no idea, which is what all of us live every day.?
The actress added that being pregnant reminded her "where your meaning is, what is actually important in the midst a lot of shiny stuff that is more superficial."
Natalie also mentioned that her unborn child morphed into a ?little dancer? during the ceremony.
"I don't remember anything that happened. But the baby was definitely kicking a lot during the song portion of the show."
Portman is engaged to 33-year-old choreographer Benjamin Millepied.
