Here are some photos of Natalie Portman and Jon Hamm at the LA premiere of Lucy In the Sky, the movie which is loosely based on the 2007 incident where astronaut Lisa Nowak went bonkers and drove halfway across the country to kidnap and possibly kill a woman she thought was her love rival. From what I understand, the film did not buy the life rights to Lisa Nowak?s story or anything like that, so that?s why the names have been changed and the circumstances tweaked a bit.
Regarding fashion? I was surprised to see Natalie in something so skimpy? She has a great figure, but she?s been doing a lot of menswear-inspired looks and more conservative gowns and such for the past several years. I feel like she was aiming for a ?sultry? look and I?m just not sure that?s her best style vibe. It also doesn?t help that she and her co-star Jon Hamm posed together on the red carpet like this was the first time they ever met. I get that it?s more respectful in the era of Time?s Up, for sure to keep your hands to yourself around your coworkers. But the body language between Hamm and Portman is? odd.
As for the actual story about an astronaut having a mental breakdown? Lisa Nowak?s story really did capture a ton of media interest, and one of the most notable details is that Nowak wore adult diapers for her drive to kidnap her ?love rival.? When Lucy In the Sky premiered at TIFF several weeks back, critics were SO MAD that the movie didn?t include the diaper detail. I seriously don?t know why the writers/director/producer would leave that out. Nowak?s story was begging for a film adaptation just because it was so bizarre and cinematic anyway, and then they?re leaving out the one part of the story which everyone remembers. WHY?

People were shook when Natalie Portman turned up at last night?s LA premiere event for Avengers: Endgame. They were shook because? Portman was basically kicked out of the Thor/Marvel franchise years ago. Thor was given other lady friends and foils and there was some kind of reference to how Thor and Portman?s character had broken up. So why did she come to the premiere? I have no idea. I suspect she isn?t in Endgame, but what do I know? I do know that her Dior ensemble was a mixed bag the skirt is stunning. The top part is blah.
These are maybe the worst pants I?ve ever seen on Chris Hemsworth. Usually, I don?t even notice what he?s wearing, really, but YIKES on this suit. Chris was there with his wife Elsa Pataky, obviously. Elsa was so happy.
Tessa Thompson in Ronald van der Kemp. This dress would have been a disaster on anyone else, but I love it on her. Delightful and strange.
Look what the cat dragged in. Literally, Miley Cyrus looks like something a cat brought into the house. Miley was there to support her brother-in-law Chris Hemsworth, and Liam Hemsworth looked? hot. As always. Miley and Liam both wore Saint Laurent. Look at Miley?s terrible makeup, my lord.
Matt Damon came out to support his friend Chris Hemsworth too. Matt and Luciana and their family basically live down in Australia now and it feels like Chris and Matt are joined at the hip. Remember when John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were joined at the hip with Matt & Lucy? I wonder why they had a couple-breakup.
And finally, Chris Pratt and his fiancee Katherine Schwarzenegger. She looked pretty and wholesome. They make so much sense as a couple.

Here are some photos from the annual Vanity Fair Oscar party, which definitely felt like it was slightly more subdued this year. Maybe it was all of the shocking winners at the end of the Oscars Olivia Colman, Green Book or maybe it was a lack of big, scandalous names in attendance. The party photos are being spread out among a half dozen posts here. First up: Natalie Portman, who attended the VF party with her husband Benjamin. I believe they?re still LA-based now, having left Paris several years ago. Natalie?s jumpsuit is Dior, and while I enjoy the fact that she?s wearing a jumpsuit comfort! this one isn?t great.
Here?s Shailene Woodley, also in Dior, with Isidora Goreshter. I?m always shocked when Shailene turns up at an industry party shouldn?t she be sitting in a treehouse, making tampons out of woodland mushrooms?
Olivia Colman changed out of her Prada Oscar gown into this Stella McCartney. It?s like ?out of frying pan and into the fire? with Olivia?s fashion. She?s not a fashion girl, at all. It?s charming.
Mindy Kaling & BJ Novak attended the VF party together, as they did last year. This year they didn?t seem to pose together very much though. Hm.

Here are some photos of Natalie Portman last night, fresh off her day-long BEEF with Jessica Simpson. I jest Jessica and Natalie?s beef was more of a misunderstanding, and they worked it out like adults. After they worked it out, Natalie attended the LA premiere of her film, Vox Lux. She wore this satin Dior suit which? is okay? I would have loved to see Natalie in something a bit crazier she is playing a costume-wearing pop star, after all but this is fine. I?m also including photos of Jude Law, her Vox Lux costar, wearing his favorite drop-crotch pants.
The root of Natalie?s beef with Jessica Simpson was some off-hand comments Natalie made to USA Today during an interview. While the Jessica comments were arguably the most notable part of the piece, the whole piece is pretty good you can read it here. Some highlights:
On gun violence: I think all of us as citizens are at the sort of tipping point of saying it?s enough, it?s too much. And it?s not possible that our government can ignore more than 12,000 people killed this year alone by other citizens.
Pop stars have it worse than actors: ?People who succeed in music, their fandom is much larger than any actor, and it?s them as themselves whereas actors are in character. There?s a difference in expectation.?
On Madonna: ?I felt really lucky to have her as a little kid, because I saw someone who was brazen and disobedient and provocative and trying to mess with people and always changing ? I thought it was a great thing to see in a woman growing up.?
On working with her husband again for Vox Lux: ?He knows how to make me look my best, work with my strengths and avoid the weaknesses, of which there are many.?

I didn?t realize that Benjamin Millepied did the choreography for Natalie?s concert/performance scenes in Vox Lux. This seemsinteresting? ?He knows how to make me look my best, work with my strengths and avoid the weaknesses, of which there are many.? The last time they worked together, it turned out that Natalie did very little of the ballet dancing which was the centerpiece of her Oscar campaign, and that Benjamin was part of the conspiracy to make it sound like Natalie had become a professional-style ballerina in 18 months, when the whole time he knew that ballerina Sarah Lane was the one doing almost all of the full-body dance shots in Black Swan. Just FYI I?ve never forgotten that.

Here are some photos of Natalie Portman at Variety?s Power of Women event on Friday. Her dress is Dior, just FYI. Her appearance at this event wasn?t about fashion or hair or makeup or anything like that. Portman was there as a representative of and for Time?s Up. This month is the one-year anniversary of The New Yorker and the New York Times? dual reports on Harvey Weinstein and the formation of Time?s Up. Everything changed a year ago, for Hollywood at least. We thought it would Usher in a new era of believing women, and that women could feel safe in telling their stories publicly.
One year later, Brett Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court and not that much has really changed in Hollywood. Which is why Natalie Portman?s speech at the Variety event just felt? cathartic. It was real. I realize this post will probably get, like, ten comments, because it?s a Monday and everything already feels like a dumpster fire, but I would seriously recommend watching this video. Around the two-minute mark is when she starts in about Harvey Weinstein and the rest of it is just barely controlled rage on her part.
She goes off on how Harvey Weinstein continued to professionally and financially abuse the women he assaulted or raped, and went on to talk about what men in the industry could do to make changes, like ?If any group you?re in has people who only look like you, change that group. It?s an awakening experience to hear from women who have different experiences of marginalisation.? She makes a brilliant point about Hollywood gossip and the responsibility to ?gossip well?: ?Stop the rhetoric that a woman is crazy or difficult. If a man says to you that a woman is crazy or difficult, ask him, ?What bad thing did you do to her?? That?s a code word. He is trying to discredit her reputation.? Natalie Portman is fire.

I?m an idiot who never took Latin. I thought ?lux? meant ?luxury,? as in that was the Latin root of the word luxury. But lux is Latin for light. And ?vox? is Latin for voice. So Natalie Portman?s new film is called Vox Lux, and that means Light Voice or Voice of Light. It makes sense because Portman plays a pop star who is off-the-rails, perhaps Britney-like, but it tells her story from the inside. Natalie executive produced the film and stars in it. It?s getting great reviews in Venice, and some are saying that another Oscar campaign could be in the works.
Natalie dressed the part of a potential Oscar-campaigner on the red-carpet premiere of Vox Lux. She wore this sparkly Gucci gown which could go either way. It?s DRAMA and fun and a show-stopper and it will get her on a million fashion blogs and in all the magazines. On the other side? the shoulders are bad and it?s really just an updated version of an ugly ?80s gown, the same kind of fashion disaster that you would have seen on Dynasty.
Natalie?s costar Stacy Martin wore Chanel Haute Couture. At first I only saw this from the crotch up, and I thought ?wow, Chanel made a surprisingly good sparkly jumpsuit.? But Karl Lagerfeld just has to screw it up somehow look at the bottom of the pant leg. UGH.
Another costar: Raffey Cassidy in Oscar de la Renta. I honestly don?t mind these princess dresses in Venice, in particular. Venice is like Cannes the bigger dresses really work on the carpet, because everyone has room to pose and look dramatic. I?ve never seen this girl in my life, but she reminds me a bit of Sophie Turner, right?

Ah, this makes sense. Finally an answer to the question of why Natalie Portman canceled on the Independent Spirit Awards and the Oscars. It wasn?t that she knew she wasn?t going to win anything – she lost Best Actress at both shows – and it wasn?t because she was due at any moment and she just didn?t feel like putting another sack dress. No, Natalie actually gave birth on February 22, the Wednesday before the Oscars. And she had a little girl this time!
And baby makes four for Natalie Portman! The 35-year-old Oscar-winning actress has given birth to her second child with husband Benjamin Millepied. E! news can exclusively reveal that the couple welcomed a baby girl, Amalia Millepied, on Feb. 22.
Portman and her husband, a choreographer who worked with her on Black Swan and the former dance director of the Paris Opera Ballet, are also parents to 5-year-old son Aleph. Portman largely kept a low profile during her pregnancy and has rarely talked about it publicly. Unlike many celebs, she did not document her pregnancy on social media and does not even maintain public accounts. Due to the birth of her daughter, she was unable to attend the 2017 Independent Spirit Awards or the 2017 Oscars. At the time, she told E! News, “I feel so lucky to be honored among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.”

I constantly have to stop and think, ?what did she name her son again?? Aleph isn?t the most memorable baby name, I’m just sayin’. Amalia isn?t either – it sounds enough like Amelia that this little girl is going to have to constantly tell teachers, ?It?s Amalia, actually.? While Aleph is a Hebrew word/name, Amalia doesn?t seem to have a Hebrew root, at least according to Wikipedia. They say Amalia seems to have originated from German, but it?s described as a ?cross-cultural name? popular in many countries and many faiths Oh, do you think they?ll nickname her ?Amal???? Wouldn?t that be something?

I enjoy the SAG Awards and the SAG fashion because it feels like a big, formal event, but it also feels like actors are there to get a bit loose and have fun. There?s rarely a huge fashion moment, and the gowns usually feel like the second or third choices (as in, women wear their first choices to the Golden Globes and Oscars). So, I don?t know if Natalie Portman intended to wear this Dior dress. Like, was this ever her first choice? She?s one of the major faces of the label and – just my opinion – it feels like Dior has been struggling to meet the needs of their ?pregnant? models. Dior was like, ?f–k it, just give her a giant sheet with some bell sleeves,? and Natalie was like, ?Er, this dress sucks but I guess I?ll just wear it to the SAGs, no one will notice.? We noticed. I feel sorry for her – no pregnant lady should have to wear a giant tent with bell sleeves. No wonder she looks like she could kill someone (JK, she always looks like that).
Kirsten Dunst also got a Dior. This, to me, is solid, but a bit dull. I mean, it?s flattering, inoffensive, rather pretty but not all that memorable. She looks nice but will she be anyone?s choice for best-dressed?
Kate Hudson got a Dior dress too. This was horrible on the runway but I think Dior did a decent job making it red-carpet ready. Honestly, imagine this dress on someone you really liked, and I bet you would love the dress. As it is, I think people were hating on this look because they don?t care for Kate Hudson personally, and they didn?t know why she was there (she was just presenting). The dress is decent-to-solid, IMO.

I was truly surprised that Natalie Portman lost the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama. The way the Oscar race is shaping up, Portman is looking more and more like a sure thing. Well, for one, after the Globes we now know that La La Land is a much bigger contender than any of us realized, so Emma Stone might be giving Portman a run for her money. And now Isabelle Huppert might be coming for the award too. So now I can?t wait to see Natalie?s gracious-loser RBF (resting bitchface). On the red carpet last night, she could barely force herself to look pleasant. It was amazing.
As for Natalie?s dress? it was Prada. Except for Lupita Nyong?o, I think Prada is a bad choice for awards shows. Prada never gets their busts right and the colors are generally off. While this shade of lemony chartreuse didn?t look bad on Natalie specifically, it is generally a bad color. I call this ?baby vomit? or ?bile.? Plus, the silhouette was so dated. It?s like she was wearing a maternity dress from the ?60s. Everything about this was gloriously awful, basically.
Speaking of gloriously awful in Prada, I give you Jessica Chastain. It?s hard to put my finger on just what went wrong here. The color is a weird shade, for sure. The jeweled accents seem glued-on. The bust of the dress is awful. Her hair isn?t working. I?m not sure about the necklace. All in all, another red carpet fail for Chastain.

Natalie Portman walked the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival for the second night in a row on Thursday. And unlike Wednesday night?s premiere of Jackie, Natalie didn?t even try to hide her very obvious second-trimester bump. Yes, Natalie Portman is pregnant. There?s no hard-and-fast confirmation from Natalie?s rep or Natalie herself, but People Magazine is ?confirming? that she is knocked up, in case you don?t believe your eyes. Shall I do a little ?I told you so? dance? I knew she was knocked up a month ago. She actually hasn?t been hiding it at all.
Natalie?s gown here is Valentino. It?s very pretty, very regal, and very Jackie Kennedy! Too bad this premiere was for Planetarium, the film which is not about Jackie Kennedy. Planetarium costars Lily-Rose Depp, who looks sort of sullen that Natalie?s bump is soaking up all of the red carpet attention. Lily-Rose is wearing her own vintage Chanel dress. As in, she didn?t borrow this. It was already in her closet. She?s 17.
Getting back to Natalie?s second pregnancy? I think it?s interesting that she got knocked up just months after Benjamin Millepied was pushed out of his position at the Paris de Opera. Reportedly, Benjamin and Natalie have been having problems for the better part of a year, or maybe that was just random tabloid gossip. They genuinely seemed strained though. My thought is that Natalie was so happy to move back to America that she got knocked up as quickly as possible. Is that a weird theory? Whatever.
