Hard at work on her latest project, Natalie Portman was spotted plugging away on "Friends With Benefits" in Los Angeles, California on Monday (May 10).
The "V for Vendetta" actress chatted with on-set workers in between shooting a farmer's market scene in the Ivan Reitner directed film.
The romantic comedy is being produced by Cold Spring Pictures while co-starring Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Kline.
A synopsis via IMDB tells that "Friends with Benefits" is about "a guy and girl try to keep their relationship strictly physical, but it's not long before they learn that they want something more."

Treating herself to an evening of culture, Natalie Portman was spotted at the 2010 New York City Ballet Spring Gala last night (April 29).
The ?Garden State? gal looked amazing as she arrived at the Lincoln Center sporting a super sexy red and beige dress with matching heels.
Ms. Portman was in the house to support her main squeeze Benjamin Millepied, who is the principal dancer for the New York City Ballet.
Natalie also got the producers of her new film ?Black Swan? to hire Benjamin as the movie?s choreographer.

She’s always up for a good cause, and last night (February 21) Natalie Portman was spotted attending a charity event in New York City.
The “Garden State” babe looked lovely as she arrived, sporting a black winter coat, black scarf, grey dress and black stockings/boots.
On the career front, Natalie is developing a new stoner comedy called “Best Buds,” in which she’ll star and produce.
The film is about two best female friends who take a road trip to their friend’s wedding in order to save her by bringing her some marijuana.

Stepping out for a night of high culture, Natalie Portman was spotted at the Quicktake Rodarte exhibition opening party in New York City (February 18).
The “Garden State” gal chatted with Justin Theroux as she milled around the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum while the paparazzi looked on.
The previous night, Natalie played socialite at the launch party for the fourth issue of The Last Magazine in Manhattan.
Miss Portman has been in the Big Apple all week, catching the sights and sounds of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Fall 2010.

Looking to be enjoying herself, Natalie Portman was spotted at a launch party of the fourth issue of The Last Magazine in New York City on Wednesday (February 17).
Bundled up for the cold, the “Garden State” gal looked gorgeous as she flashed a quick smile for the on-hand photogs.
The previous day, Ms Portman could be found front row at the Rodarte Fall 2010 Fashion Show as part of the Big Apple’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Looking quite fashionable herself, Natalie sat back and enjoyed the show, chatting about the latest trends with a gal pal.

Continuing work on her latest project, Natalie Portman was spotted reporting for duty on the set of “Black Swan” today (February 5).
The “Garden State” hottie looked a bit camera shy as she arrived, sporting a big black winter coat with jeans and black shoes.
As for her steamy lesbian scene with Mila Kunis for the film, Natalie told press she was extremely nervous before the shoot.
“I was terrified. At the moment I lived in a state of inner terror. Nudity is something absolutely natural and I’m not prudish - but in a film it can be distracting. Doing Black Swan I couldn’t say no. The project is a huge opportunity for me to show a new me. My other problem is that single pictures are being taken out of context and put on the Internet.”

Making her way out in the Big Apple for press duties, Natalie Portman was spotted out at The Times Center in New York City on Saturday night (January 9).
Joined by Alan Cumming, the “V for Vendetta” beauty and her actor pal happened to be taking part in an interview during day two of the New York Times Arts and Leisure Weekend.
The outing comes just as rumors that “Garden State” gal is reportedly dating Benjamin Millepied hit the Internet.
According to an insider, Miss Portman and Mr. Millepied have actually been an item since this past fall but didn’t want to go public until they were sure it was serious.

Natalie Portman is unquestionably nice to look at, but she’s been giving a lot of really odd interviews lately and the February 2010 issue of Elle UK is no exception. Portman, who is Jewish and was born in Jerusalem, says in the Elle interview that she doesn’t like playing Jews and that she “hates” the Holocaust genre. From NY Daily News:
“I’ve always tried to stay away from playing Jews,” she tells the magazine. “I get like 20 Holocaust scripts a month, but I hate the genre.”
But rules are made to be broken. The 28-year-old actress made an exception in 2009 and played a Hasidic bride in the film “New York, I Love You”.
“That was the first thing to come my way (?New York, I Love You?) that really intrigued me,” she says.
Portman also explains why she traditionally stays away from romantic comedies.
“It wasn’t that I didn’t want to do comedy,” she says. “It’s just that I would only get offered girlfriend parts in guy comedies, which aren’t exciting to me, or those offensive roles in romantic comedies where the woman has to have a job in fashion so that she can have nice clothes, and her goal is always marriage.”
But it’s not that Portman is afraid to get sexy. After all, one of her first roles was as a precocious 12-year-old in “The Professional.”
“There was a lot of controversy about the whole Lolita thing,” she says in the interview. “My parents were super-protective about it, but I got a lot of weird letters. It was really upsetting. I didn’t want to be seen as a sex object, so I went in the opposite direction. I’m definitely not a prude about sex or nudity, I just don’t want to do something that will end up as a screen grab on a porn site.”
This seems pretty disingenuous to me. It’s not like The Professional was Portman’s only sexed-up role by a long shot. She’s was the Lolita-esque ingenue in Beautiful Girls, she was essentially nothing but a love interest in the Star Wars prequels, she played a stripper in Closer, she did nudity in both Hotel Chevalier and Goya’s Ghosts, and photos of her bare ass have been floating all over the internet for several years now. Look, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with an actress owning her sexuality or doing nudity if it’s something she’s comfortable with, but it’s pretty jackassy to do it and then turn around and run your mouth off about how you don’t want to be seen as a sex object, so you “went in the opposite direction.”
Natalie Portman should maybe consider a new “opposite direction” for her career, consisting primarily of standing around looking pretty and keeping her mouth shut.

Yesterday, we showed the cover for the February issue of Elle UK with Natalie Portman as cover girl. At the time, I didn?t have any interview excerpts from Elle UK, but now Huffington Post does. Natalie sounds? weird. She?s been giving a lot of weird interviews lately, hasn?t she? Like when she whined about being ?bullied? by Hollywood. Maybe she?s going through something? Or maybe this is the woman she is now - self-absorbed, playing the victim, whining, et cetera.
Anyway, the most notable thing so far to come out this Elle UK interview is the revelation that Natalie - who was born in Israel, and who doesn?t like talking about her Jewish faith, and who defends Israeli artists - doesn?t want to play Jews in films. She says she ?hates? the Holocaust genre of film (She hates Schindler?s List?), and the first time she ever considered playing a Jewish girl was in New York, I Love You because she was ?intrigued?.
Natalie Portman covers February’s Elle UK, and in her interview she discusses the sorts of roles she doesn’t like to take on–overtly Jewish characters, one-dimensional girlfriends and sex bombs.
Earlier this year Jerusalem-born Natalie broke one of her rules and played a Hasidic bride in ‘New York, I Love You.’ She now stars in the war drama ‘Brothers’ opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire.
On playing Jewish characters:

Um? she did nudity and sex(y) scenes in Closer and Hotel Chevalier. Does she think we?ve forgotten? And yes, her scenes (especially in Hotel Chevalier) were dissected heavily and there are photos of Natalie?s ass all over the internet. So, while I don?t blame her for being wary of doing nudity and sex scenes, it?s weird that she?s still pushing that line after she?s already done a few films where she was a sex object.

The “Garden State” babe looks lovely in a variety of poses and outfits, and in the interview she explains her resistance to doing nude scenes in her movies.
Natalie explains, “I’m definitely not a prude about sex or nudity, I just don’t want to do something that will end up as a screen grab on a porn site.”
“You look at Meryl Streep, who is so phenomenally, freakishly gorgeous, and in some ways it’s just bizarre that she was never a sex symbol. But it was always about her - and now it doesn’t matter that she’s getting older, because we just want to continue watching her be an interesting person. Whereas you see actresses who marketed themselves on their bodies, and they might be good, but over time they just lose it because that sort of thing doesn’t last.”
