Renee Zellweger is said to be so paranoid about dirt and bacteria entering her home that she insists that all visitors don hospital booties before they step foot inside. This story comes from Star Magazine, so it could be a load of crap, but it’s so random and unlike a typically fabricated story that it seems like there’s some credence to it:
Renee Zellweger… is so worried about hygiene, she asks everyone who enters her house to put hospital booties on their feet - even if they’re wearing socks! “Renee believes that shoes are frequently contaminated with dirt and dangerous bacteria,” an insider tells Star. And while Renee’s friends think it’s over the top, “they end up having a laugh when they go sliding around on her slippery floors!”
[From Star Magazine, print edition, July 27, 2009]
A lot of people are going to say Renee is strange and a germ-a-phobe, but as an American living in Germany where this is normal I have to disagree. It’s considered rude here to leave your shoes on when you go to someone’s house and most people have guest “house shoes” or slippers for people to use when they visit. I found this hard to get used to, but now it’s become kind of a habit. This isn’t just a superstition - shoes really can bring a ton of bacteria and disease into the home.
We looked at a home last week where the realtor brought those blue hospital booties with him and we all put them on so we wouldn’t get anything dirty. A guy from the phone company came over yesterday and he insisted on taking his shoes off even though I told him not to bother. It’s just what they do here, and is a definitely a cultural difference. Renee’s request may seem anal for American culture, but she’d be right at home here in Germany. Maybe she should move here and date a hot German guy who is just as concerned about cleanliness.

Renee Zellweger was photographed out twice with the same stomach-baring black jacket blowing open to reveal her still perfectly-flat tiny abs. She was seen at LAX airport and then outside the salon later in the day. At least it was the same day and she didn’t wear the open jacket on different days to show off, but it really looks like these photos are staged for maximum tummy and press exposure. Look how she’s posing in each instance like she’s on a cat walk. She’s throwing her head back and opening her jacket to make sure that it drapes right. I thought that Zellweger was above this sort of thing of thing, but I guess we learned she wasn’t when she went on that probably staged date with Bradley Cooper and happily posed for the paparazzi afterwards.
Zellweger might be feeling a little insecure. We just learned yesterday that she’s going to return for the third installment of Bridget Jones and that she’ll be putting on pounds to recreate the character. She probably doesn’t like to gain so much weight and wants to make sure there are timely “before” pictures available that capture how tiny and tight-abbed she was. She’ll be back to fighting shape almost immediately afterwards just as she was after filming the last two movies.
By her own admission Zellweger is wary of fame and she often comes across as shy and scared in interviews. In 2007, she said she’s not comfortable with being a celebrity and having her personal life on display. “I?m not good at the majority of things that come with celebrity… I am not good at the commodification of me as a person?it?s dehumanizing. I?m not good at it because my values are different than that, and so I?m disappointed by it.”
It looks like Renee is starting to get the hang of playing the game a little, and why not? She’s only going to have those abs for a couple more weeks until she starts gaining weight for a role. She’ll bounce back like a rubber band, though. I would like to see her out more and hooking up with a hot guy who is crazy about her - not someone who seems to be in it for fame like Cooper. She’s may not be the shrinking violet that I’ve suspected, and there are plenty of great men who would be ecstatic if she gave them the time of day. Work it, Renee!

| Renee Zellweger: Ready for Another Bridget Jones Belly | Added 15 years ago | Source: Celebrity Gossip |

Traveling about the country, Renee Zellweger was spotted picking up her BMW from the valet at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday (July 15).
Looking to be in high spirits, the “Jerry Maguire” actress strolled outside in a sweater sans undershirt - showing off her belly button before getting into her car.
The sighting comes just as it was announced that Miss Zellweger will be starring as Bridget Jones for the third time - a role in which she has to pack on about 30 pounds.
“Can I just tell you my body is whacked by the time we finish one of those?” Renee told of having to gain so much weight. “It doesn’t know what has happened because it thinks there’s supposed to be a baby and there’s no christening.”
As for overeating to accomplish the bulk-up, Zellweger tells, “For two days it’s bliss… Then after a week your glucose levels are going crazy. You’re up and down and all over the place. It doesn’t feel good, and no one wants to hear that, but it’s the truth.”

Confession time: I actually love the Bridget Jones books and films. Even though I thought both the sequel book and film were rather cheesy, I still like the Bridget character, and I like how Renee Zellweger plays her. Although Renee has been in several films I adore, I tend to think Bridget Jones might be the one character Renee has created that will stand the test of time.
The whole Bridget Jones franchise has probably accumulated somewhere in the vicinity of $400-500 million. It?s like the girly version of Die Hard. And Hollywood kept churning out those Die Hard films, so I guess they thought, why not churn out another Bridget Jones movie? That?s just what Variety (story via People) is claiming:
Haul out the biscuits and gravy, crispy duck, Snickers, milk shakes, pizza and butter-soaked potatoes ? Renee Zellweger’s very special diet to get in shape to play Bridget Jones, because the Oscar winner is prepping to play the full-figured singleton once again.
Zellweger, 40, is expected to start filming at the end of this year what will be the third installment about the love-starved British publishing executive, Variety reports.
This time, the story will likely focus on 40-ish Bridget’s desire to have a baby before time runs out, as based on author Helen Fielding’s weekly newspaper columns for Britain’s the Independent, says the showbiz trade publication.
The Oscar winner for Cold Mountain, who was nominated for 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary and also starred in the 2004 sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, recently spelled out what she desires in a man, saying: ?I’m looking for an encyclopedia and a dictionary. A bit of the Boy Scouts Handbook. A person who is conscientious about the trail he leaves behind him. Love. Unconditional kindness.”
[From People]
Lord, I really hope Colin Firth comes on to this one? and why wouldn?t he? Bridget better be trying to have a baby with Mark Darcy and not Daniel Cleaver. Personally, I love how smarmy Hugh Grant is in these films (and probably, in life) but it always bothers me how Bridget can?t see what a wanker Daniel is. He always sweet-talks her. It sucks, but it?s probably realistic, I suppose.
So, what do you think? Is the Bridget Jones character stale? And even if it is, shouldn?t women have the same opportunity to see a girly franchise like the guys had with Die Hard? Will Renee still looks cute (perhaps better) with the added weight?

Renee strikes a pose after her date
Is Bradley Cooper’s agent setting him up with top actresses for the publicity? Do these arguably emotionally vulnerable women expect romance only to be met with tabloid headlines or are they complicit in this facade?
A couple of weeks ago, Cooper went on a date with Jennifer Aniston in New York that just happened to be captured by the paparazzi. A very suspicious super positive profile of Cooper then appeared in People Magazine a few days later - “He can cook! He can speak French! He’s a college graduate!” The date looked like a PR stunt to me in light of that “Bradley Cooper is awesome!” article that soon followed. Cooper later said he was “just friends” with Aniston. I thought there might have some feelings for her by the way he worded his statement, but most of you took it like he was giving her the brush off.
Cooper’s latest A-list conquest is none other than Renee Zellweger, who, like Jennifer Aniston, is a 40 year-old single actress who is often portrayed in the gossip press as a sad spinster who can’t keep a man. In Zellweger’s case she avoids a lot of publicity by keeping herself scarce, though. Now Zellweger has hooked up on at least one date with who we’re being told is the latest up-and-coming Hollywood property. Is Zellweger working to change her image too or was this a genuine date? If so, how did the paparazzi find them? At least they didn’t pose together afterwards:
If there is still anything going on between Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Aniston, it certainly didn’t seem to be on the actor’s mind on Tuesday night as he enjoyed a romantic Manhattan meal with Rene Zellweger.
The pair, who co-star in the upcoming Case 39, were spotted together at Antonucci, an elegant Italian restaurant on NYC’s posh Upper East Side, where one diner tells OK! that this was no friendly chow session.
“He pulled her chair out for her when she sat down and he kissed her on the hand,” says the witness. “If they’re just friends, they were being awfully affectionate!”
Renee and Bradley were seated at a corner table, where diners describe their behavior as “flirty,” “relaxed” and “cute together.”
In a white Henley, jeans and red sneakers, the He’s Just Not That Into You Hunk was more casually dressed than his dinner date, who sported a thigh-length black, bell-sleeved dress and strappy shoes with very high heels and carried and Hermes clutch.
“Throughout the dinner they were playful and flirty,” a witness tells OK!. “She played with her hair a lot, and she would often touch his arm when she was making a point about something.” The lucky celeb-spotter also reveals to OK! that Rene even leaned forward across the table on a few occasions to play with his napkin.
“At one point, he seemed to want to whisper something to her as if it were a secret,” says the diner. “He spoke into her ear and then they both started giggling.”
Perhaps not wanting the night to end too quickly, the pair remained at their table, sipping tea and chatting long after they finished their food.
When the check arrived, sources tell OK! that both Brad and Rene reached for it. “She told him she wanted to buy him dinner to pay him back for something,” says the witness. “And when he opened the check, it already had her card in it!” We’re told this little surprise caused Brad to blurt out, “You [expletive]-er!”
Witnesses also say that the 40-year-old Oscar-winner jokingly referred to herself as a “cougar” because of Bradley’s youthful 34 years.
After conferring over who was supposed to call whom next, the dining duo did their best to throw off the waiting paparazzi by leaving five minutes apart and hopping into separate cabs.
[From OK! Magazine]
Kaiser pointed out to me that both Jennifer Aniston and Bradley Cooper are clients of Creative Artists Agency. There have been stories that CAA has tried to set Aniston up with guys for PR purposes. Zellweger used to be with CAA, but she just dropped them in mid June and moved to the William Morris Agency. Surely she still has contacts there, though, and I would bet that someone put a call in to find another date for Bradley. At least Aniston has had enough of the pretending and I would bet she gave him the cold shoulder after the “friends” comment. Zellweger needs the press though after her last movie, New in Town, didn’t do that well at the box office. She’s got another film coming out in limited release at the end of August, a 1950s era comedy with Chris Noth and Kevin Bacon called My One and Only. This tabloid relationship will be long over by then, though.

Renee Zellweger always looks like she’s sucking on a lemon in a lot of her pictures. Maybe that’s just a side effect of trying to be skinny, but it’s unsettling. Other times she looks retarded. Like a Frankenstein wondering why people are snapping photos of her.
Anyway, she’s taking a break from acting. Renee told Glamour: “I want to learn more. I want to know more. That’s what taking this time is about. I’m curious about so many things, but haven’t had occasion to be exposed to them enough to really appreciate them.”
No, Renee! Please don’t leave and so on and so on. Sorry, I just couldn’t muster up the energy to beg her to stay. I mean, I could have. It’s just. Do we really need to see a third Bridget Jones or another western where Renee makes it blatantly obvious that cowboys aren’t too choosy about their women?

Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger told Glamour magazine that she is taking a self-imposed hiatus from making movies for a while. The 40-year-old star of “Jerry Maguire” and “Cold Mountain” didn’t give specifics on when this break will start, or how long it will last, but she says that she wants to take time out to read, relax, and “see where” her “brain goes,” whatever that means.
Now, for the first time in a decade, the Texas-born actress, 40, is exploring a new side of her multifaceted life: She?s taking a break from moviemaking. At home in New York, she is gobbling up books, sifting through scripts and indulging in one of her favorite pastimes: napping. ?I?m working on getting bored,? she says. ?And it?s really hard! But I need to sit still long enough to see where my brain goes.? Given all that has happened to her in the past five years?eight films, two Oscar nominations (and one win), a breakup with White Stripes front man Jack White, an ill-fated four-month marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney, wild media speculation about a current romance with NBC News chief legal correspondent Dan Abrams?it?s no wonder boredom looks so attractive to Zellweger.
GLAMOUR: You didn?t grow up with a whole lot, did you?
RZ: No. I have immigrant parents who came to this country with nothing, and my dad worked his ass off to support our family. He made so many sacrifices, but we always had enough. I?ve never been the sort of person who takes things for granted, and I?m not an acquisitions girl. So I didn?t feel entitled to a car when I was 16. Of course, I was bummed I didn?t get one, because I was an American Texas teenager! But I understood it. I?ve never gotten my self-esteem from having the newest, most spectacular thing.
GLAMOUR: So where does your self-esteem come from? In the photos for this story, you look so confident and sexy?. Were you doing your job, or are you feeling particularly sexy these days?
RZ: I let my guard down?I must have been tired! [Laughs.] Actually, I?m having a really good time right now.
GLAMOUR: So, is there a shift happening?
RZ: Yes. I?m taking time to figure out where I want to go and what I want to do next. In this line of work, you become so [defined by your job].
GLAMOUR:So?you won?t talk about who you?re dating?
RZ: No. I won?t. Because it?s dumb. It leads to nowhere good. I let everybody else in the media do that for me. [Laughs.] It takes the responsibility off my shoulders!
GLAMOUR: Why do you think the media assumes that if a woman is young, gorgeous, successful?but single?she isn?t happy? You seem like a very happy, together person.
RZ: I don?t know. Because it?s a deviation from social expectations? She?s successful in all these respects, so why doesn?t a man find her attractive? But when you think about it, [when you?re single] you are not deprived in any way?if anything, it?s a pretty self-indulgent lifestyle. It?s selfish: You can make your own decisions and indulge yourself on an impulse.
GLAMOUR: And the media doesn?t have the same attitude about single men.
RZ: It?s ?Good for you, buddy?you?re a confirmed bachelor!?
GLAMOUR: If the right guy came along, would you be willing to give up the single life?
RZ: Oh, sure. But if I?m going to give it up, it better be good?because I?m having fun! [Laughs.]
GLAMOUR: Getting back to the shift we were talking about?does this mean you?re going to stay put for a while?
RZ: Yes. I?m working on different projects, but I?m not going anywhere any time soon. I?m not putting on other people?s clothes or living out of my luggage. I?m actually going into the bathroom to use my bathroom stuff?rather than to the suitcase where I usually keep it. I?m learning how to use a chest of drawers! I am determined to sit still long enough to get past the existential crap of the moment.
GLAMOUR: What?s the most important thing you hope to get out of this?
RZ: I want to learn more. I want to know more. That?s what taking this time is about. I?m curious about so many things, but haven?t had occasion to be exposed to them enough to really appreciate them.
[From Glamour]
We’ve heard plenty of other celebs say they are leaving Hollywood -but somehow they never quite manage to do it. Fame and movie-making are addicting, for sure. But Renee Zellweger has always seemed a bit removed from the fame machine. I doubt we’d ever catch her courting the paparazzi or Twittering her every move. The only actress I can think of who said she was taking a break and actually followed through on that was Julia Roberts. At the time she took her break, she was one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, and can pretty much work whenever she feels like it. Renee is well respected, to be sure, but not quite at the same level. Still, I think she probably could take a couple of years off and come back if the right role was there. What do you think?

Renee Zellweger hasn?t been in the headlines in quite a while. This is mostly my doing ? I?m still really upset with her for Leatherheads (and I’m surprisingly powerful). But apparently Renee still has some fans ? in fact she claims to have enough of them that they?re constantly making her late for things. That?s because she just can?t say no to them, and always makes a little time for chitchat.
The ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ star admits she regularly keeps friends and colleagues waiting, but blames her poor time keeping on spending time with the public.
She said: “I have missed flights, missed ferries, missed taxi cabs and made my friends wait because of it. I’m learning to be better at it but I’ll still feel bad if I can’t stop to talk to someone.”
Despite her tardiness, the 39-year-old actress feels obliged to speak to people on the streets because she doesn’t want to let anybody down.
She explained: “I hate to disappoint them, and I’m not very good at saying no.”
Though she always manages to find the time to speak with her fans, Renee recently admitted she is too busy to settle down with a boyfriend.
She explained: “I’m not single, I’m busy. That’s my line. The thing is, I’m away all the time. I suppose if I sat still long enough to get to know somebody beyond a dinner date, maybe. But I don’t feel like my life is empty or that I have to make something happen. I have projects to develop.
“I wonder is there really time for all of it? I never say never about anything because I look back on my own personal history and it shocks me.”
[From MSN Entertainment via Gossip Rocks]
Hmmm, I would have thought Renee was late because she was busy eating so many lemons. At least we know she?ll never get scurvy. Oh, snap! I would possibly have bought this excuse back in her Bridget Jones/Jerry Maguire/Chicago heyday. But things have sort of petered off for Renee in the last few years. And not to harp on this but the acting in Leatherheads was atrocious. It was the first movie in a long time where I actually wanted to ask for my money back. And it had my future husband John Krasinski in it. But it was just abominable.
There are several websites out there for fans to report their encounters with celebrities. And many of Renee?s aren’t that flattering . Obviously people are more likely to write something up when they?re displeased. But it makes me seriously doubt that she?s always missing planes to pose for photos and kiss babies.
Here?s Renee leaving the Broadway play ‘33 Variations’ starring Jane Fonda at the O’Neill Theatre in New York City on March 9th. Images thanks to WENN.com.
