Because one failed marriage is never enough, Avril Lavigne is now engaged to her boyfriend of six months, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. I have a feeling the wedding will be a lot like a Canadian version of a Gathering of the Juggalos. People Magazine says:
Lavigne, 27, and Kroeger, 37, first got together in February to co-write a song for Lavigne’s upcoming fifth studio album.
On Aug. 8, Kroeger popped the question, presenting Lavigne with a 14-carat diamond sparkler.
It will be Kroeger’s first trip down the aisle, and the second marriage for Lavigne, who split from Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2009. She had also dated Brody Jenner.
Oh, Canada. It’s a sad state of affairs when Terrance and Philip are the best thing to come out of your country in the last ten years. Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen are your fault, too. If this keeps us, I don’t how we in good faith can call you our ally.

I feel like whenever Avril Lavigne is dating someone, we know about it. Or maybe those dudes were just the tip of the iceberg. Lavigne broke up with Brody Jenner in January after two years of blissful mutual douchiness. She started dating Brody soon after she split from her then-husband, Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley, although she was hooking up with Brandon Davis prior to Brody. It was just in June that we heard that she was seeing Marilyn Manson, which was either not true or short-lived. So it’s a bit of a surprise to hear that Avril is engaged to Chad Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickelback. People mag claims they’ve been dating for six months, which makes me wonder how they kept it under the radar. I’m thinking they haven’t been together that long. Here’s the surprise engagement announcement:

“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together,” a Lavigne pal tells PEOPLE.

“He makes her so happy,” a family source tells PEOPLE. “Both of their families could not be more excited.”

I googled “14 carat engagement ring” and came up with Hilary Duff’s whopping diamond ring, that looks like it would be hard to lift. That thing is a honker. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t turn it down, but I would get a dream house for that money, instead of wearing it on my hand and worrying that it would get stolen. I also spent some dreamy moments looking over diamond engagement rings on Blue Nile’s website, and they have a 15 carat diamond for 1.13 million and a 12 carat diamond for 1.69. (The more expensive one has better clarity.) So it looks like the dude from Nickelback gave Avril Lavigne a ring that was worth at least 1.2 million dollars. I would wonder how he came up with the money, but I guess Nickelback had some hits last year that I barely heard of and they’ve been touring and stuff.
Well Avril and the Nickelback guy seem perfect for each other. They’re both Canadian singers, they both had their best hits in the late 90s/early 2000s, and they probably share the same inflated sense of self worth. I jest, sort of, I think Avril has grown as a person and isn’t as insufferable as she used to be. Plus I know little about Chad Kroeger, except that when I type “Chad Kroeger” into google, the words “douche” and “douchebag” come up as automatic search suggestions. See – perfect for each other!

The first thing I said when I heard Avril Lavigne and Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger were engaged was WTF? Chad Kroeger? Nickelback? Holy hell. Then I let it sit for a minute and realized they were a perfect match. Nickelback is pretty much the Avril Lavigne of rock.So, yea, congrats.
As far as how they met? Chad co-write a song for Avril’s fifth studio album and as they got to know each other, “a romantic relationship blossomed.” Kroeger got down on one knee and/or sang a formulaic and safe rock song to propose to her.
Kroeger would be a complete 180 from her previous husband Deryck Whibley. That marriage was spent mostly in a drunken haze giving the finger to and spitting on paparazzi.

The Canadian rockers kept their relationship under wraps after the two first got together in February to co-write a song for the 27-year-old's upcoming fifth studio album.
A source told People, "A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together."
On August 8, the 37-year-old singer proposed with a huge 14-carat diamond ring. After the proposal, Avril's family said, "He makes her so happy. Both of their families could not be more excited."
This is Chad's first marriage and the second for the "Complicated" singer, who split from Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley in 2009. She had also dated Brody Jenner.

Besides being a worldwide rock star, Avril Lavigne is a merchandising maven, and last night (March 13) she was spotted at the JustFabulous Launch of Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne.
The ?Sk8er Boi? songstress showed up at the Los Angeles shindig where she got to hang out with her ex-husband Deryck Whibley.
Also in the house was Pretty Reckless lead singer/former ?Gossip Girl? Taylor Momsen, and fellow celebrity designer Kimora Lee Simmons.
Avril also just released a video diary of her new Abbey Dawn lookbook, giving an inside perspective of her brand new lineup.

We first heard about Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner hooking up in February of 2010. They got matching lighting bolt tattoos for each other a few months later, we heard they were gunning for a reality show (that thankfully went nowhere) and then we even heard they were engaged last year. Well all that is over now, as Brody and Avril have split.
After dating for almost two years, Life & Style can exclusively reveal that the pop singer and reality star have called it quits.
“They decided to end their relationship,” a source tells Life & Style. “It wasn’t working out, and they wanted to go their separate ways.”
According to friends, the main reason is that they didn’t see eye to eye when it came to marriage.
“She wanted to settle down, but he wasn’t exactly ready,” another source tells Life & Style. “They had been having problems starting in the summer with her tour because she was on the road all the time.”
“It put a strain on their relationship,” the source adds.
Avril, 27, began dating Brody, 28, just months after she split from her then-husband, Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley, 31. The two were married on July 15, 2006, but Avril filed for divorce three years later. It was finalized on November 16, 2010.
Before dating Avril, Brody was linked to model Jayde Nicole.

These two lasted surprisingly long for a Kardashian (by marriage) and the queen of tween angst pop. It also surprises me to hear that Avril wanted to settle down. She doesn’t seem like the type at all. As mean as it sounds, at least she hasn’t had a kid yet. She’s generally insufferable and used to be known for being incredibly rude and bragging about it. Avril seemed to calm down quite a bit since she’s been dating Brody. It will only be a matter of time before we see photos of her stumbling drunk out of clubs and flipping off the paparazzi. After all, she’s got to find another dude to settle down with. Maybe she’s changed, though.

Supposedly, this is what Avril Lavigne’s face looked like after she and her boyfriend Brody Jenner got their asses kicked by 5 people over the weekend.
What the hell attacked her? Five people or a bear? Luckily, they look like minor scratches. On the bright side, she does look pretty punk rock like this. She should get beat up more often.

Avril Lavigne says 5 people jumped her last night and left her a bloody mess. Avril said, “My face is fucked.” Her boyfriend Brody Jenner was smashed in the head with a bottle and left bloody as well when he tried to jump in to break it up.
“I don’t fight. I don’t believe in it. To clear things up I got attacked by 5 people last night out of nowhere. Not cool. My face is f**ked.”
She added, “As in black eye, bloody nose, hair ripped out, scratches, bruises and cuts. So not ok to be abusive to others. Violence is NEVER the answer.” TMZ
Violence is never the answer but sometimes it’s the solution. I could see why someone would want to jump Avril Lavigne though. Remember back when she was with her ex spitting on photogs? Maybe she spat on the wrong person. That’s why I always do a background check before I debase someone. Make sure they don’t fight back. Granted, this could have been unprovoked too. Maybe they just wanted to say hi and got carried away.
