While having yet another royal baby on the way is quite exciting, the pregnancy process is certainly taking its toll on Kate Middleton.
So far the Duchess of Cambridge has been forced to cancel several official engagements due to severe morning sickness, and it sounds like she just pulled out of another appearance.
Kate was slated to visit Sir Ben Ainslie?s America?s Cup team base in Portsmouth, England next week, but now she?ll instead stay home and rest.
A royal spokesperson noted that Middleton and her team of physicians are taking things on ?a day-by-day basis,? but she?s not out of the woods just yet.

Last week, something unusual happened. Prince William and Duchess Kate?s office made a major fuss over ?an individual? who they claimed was ?harassing? Prince George. What kind of harassment? They were complaining about a photographer talking photos of George when George was out and about with one of his nannies. This is the statement released by the Buckingham Palace spokesperson:
“The Duke and Duchess have taken legal steps to ask that an individual ceases harassing and following both Prince George and his nanny as they go about their ordinary daily lives,” Buckingham Palace spokesman James Roscoe said in a statement Thursday. ?There is reason to suspect that the individual may been placing Prince George under surveillance and monitoring his daily routines for a period of time.”
The photographer, who was seen last week at a London Park following the toddler and his nanny, has been approached several times in the past few years by palace authorities.
?The Duke and Duchess understand the particular public role that Prince George will one day inherit but while he is young, he must be permitted to lead as ordinary a life as possible,? Roscoe said. ?No parent would tolerate the suspicion of someone pursuing and harassing their child and carer whilst their child is playing in a public park or going about their daily activities.”
[From Today]
It was a strange story just at face value because it seemed like Will and Kate were complaining about photos being taken out in public, in a public park, which is just? well, unusual. Of course all royal babies (and all people) have privacy rights, but the whole thing just seemed? odd. Then it got even weirder. The photographer ?harassing? George was named, and it?s Ikon Pictures? photographer Niraj Tanna. Royal conspiracists have always noted the seemingly cozy relationship Tanna has with Kate and the Middleton family in particular, and it?s widely believed by those conspiracists that the Middletons have ?set up? photo-ops with Tanna several times when he got weird exclusives. I guess the bloom is off the rose with that relationship though ? over the past year, Tanna has been growing increasingly critical of William and Kate. And I guess they?ve noticed. Anyway, Tanna responded:
A photographer who has been accused of “harassing” Prince George by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has denied any wrongdoing will continue to take snaps of the 14-month old. Lawyers for Prince William and Kate Middleton accused two members of the press of intruding on the future king’s personal life as he went about his “ordinary daily” life with his nanny.
Lawyers for Tanna have insisted their client has not done anything wrong and the harassment accusations are “wholly without foundation”. In a seven page letter, Tanna’s lawyers said he was “fully entitled” to photograph Prince George in a public place and will “vigorously contest” any legal action.
It adds: “He will continue to undertake his work with the concerns of the Prince’s parents very much in mind.”
[From The International Business Times]
Interesting. While I don?t doubt that it would creep out any parent if a photographer had their long lens trained on their baby, it does feel like there?s something else at work here. We?ll see.
Oh, and The Mirror claims that IF Kate is feeling up to it, she and William are planning an official trip to New York. I think this would be Kate?s first-ever trip to New York. They?re loosely planning the trip for end of November/beginning of December. I hope they?re able to come. Skip Thanksgiving though and come in the beginning of December!

| Duchess Kate cancels her solo Malta trip, Prince William will go in her place | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I assumed that Duchess Kate would cancel her big Malta trip, but it took forever to get that cancellation confirmed. Sources claimed that Kate was going to decide at the last minute, upon advice from her doctors, and that?s just what happened. I expected news yesterday, but Kate waited until today to announce that she?s not going on the Malta trip. William will be going in her place.
Still sick! Kate Middleton has been forced to drop out of her first solo royal tour to Malta due to her continued morning sickness, Kensington Palace tells Us Weekly.
The pregnant royal, who is expected to give birth to her second child in around six months, had been due to perform her first ever solo tour on behalf of the Royal Family in Malta on Saturday, Sept. 20.
But due to Prince George’s mother’s continuing morning sickness, the Duchess of Cambridge has had to cancel her royal commitments, handing over the role to her husband, Prince William, instead.
“The doctors advised her last night,” a source tells Us, of the recommedation Middleton received before making her difficult decision about the two-day tour.
“The Duchess of Cambridge will no longer visit Malta this weekend,” the Palace revealed. “The Duke of Cambridge will undertake the visit instead. Her Royal Highness continues to suffer from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. The decision not to visit was taken by the Duke and Duchess on the advice of the Duchess’s doctors.”
“The Duke is honored to represent Her Majesty The Queen on the visit, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Malta?s independence. The visit itinerary remains unchanged.”
Middleton endured the same extreme morning sickness during her first pregnancy with Prince George. So far this time, she has avoided any inpatient hospital stays, and continues to be treated at home in Kensington Palace.
[From Us Weekly]
Actually, no, she does not ?continue to be treated at home in Kensington Palace.? Just FYI. Kate was feeling well enough last week to go out to dinner with William in Norfolk. They were spotted (and photographed) last Thursday night outside of the King?s Head pub ? go here to see the photos. They ate fish, roasted veggies and shared a vanilla ice cream. Kate sipped water and William had red wine. After that, William dropped Kate off at her parents? house, which is where she spent last weekend? and she might even still be there. William spent last weekend in Scotland with Prince Charles, the Queen and Camilla. People Mag says Kate is still at her parents? house.
UPDATE: Ah, so those photos at Radar are from August 31, not September 11th.

| Duchess Kate 'is turning Kensington Palace into a nightclub' for Harry's b-day | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

On Friday, St. James Palace/Kensington Palace finally handed out the firm itinerary for Duchess Kate?s first solo royal trip on behalf of the Queen. Kate is heading to Malta on September 20th and she?ll be staying overnight. Prince George will not be coming with her and ?sources? speculated that William will be taking care of George ?on his own.? Ten bucks says George is shipped off to Carole Middleton though, don?t you think? Anyway, Kate will be there to celebrate Malta?s 50th anniversary of independence and she?ll even be meeting one-on-one with the prime minister and president of Malta. She?ll be watching some military presentations and visiting the National Library and a bunch of other stuff ? go here to read about her jam-packed two-day schedule. It really does look busy, but it also looks like a lot of fun tourist stuff and sight-seeing and garden parties.
Before Kate heads to Malta (which will likely be her only major royal work in September), she?s also in charge of putting together Prince Harry?s 30th birthday celebrations. I heard that she was putting together a dinner party for Harry?s birthday at Kensington Palace and a few weeks ago, sources said Harry didn?t want a big party because he?s got the opening of the Invictus Games that same week. But Kate wants to do a big blowout and turn KP into a ?nightclub.?
Kate Middleton is masterminding the party plans for her brother-in-law’s 30th birthday next month. Latest reports suggest that the Duchess of Cambridge is working with one of London’s top hotspot owners, Guy Pelly, to turn one of the rooms in Kensington Palace into a nightclub on September 15 for Prince Harry’s big day.
Both the Duchess, Harry and his brother Prince William have been friends with Guy for years, having also attended his wedding earlier this year. The guest list for the exclusive bash is said to include Harry’s closest friends, family – and two of his ex-girlfriends. But according to the Mirror, the fourth in line to the throne does not mind seeing old flames Cressida Bonas, 25, and Chelsy Davy, 28.
An insider told them: ?Harry has no problem with seeing his exes all under the same roof. Let?s just hope they don?t either.?
The source then told the Mirror that the Duchess may have also invited charity worker Camilla Thurlow, 25, who Harry has been spotted getting close to in recent weeks. This follows his split from Cressida in April after meeting in the summer of 2012.
Clubbing into the early hours at Kensington Palace is not the only partying that Harry will be doing near his birthday. The day before he turns 30, the Prince will be rocking out with the likes of the Foo Fighters, Kaiser Chiefs and Ellie Goulding at the Invictus Games Closing Ceremony. The games, which were set up by Harry this year, and are a Paralympic-style sporting event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.
As well as this, a documentary, titled ‘Prince Harry at 30: From Hellraiser to Heartthrob’, is also set to be released before the Prince’s birthday. From serving his country in Afghanistan to the embarrassment of those naked photos in Las Vegas – Harry has seen highs and lows over the past decade as well as constant speculation over whether he will settle down like his brother, William. The documentary, planned by ITN productions and DRG, will celebrate the life of perhaps the most eligible royal bachelor.
[From Express]
This is the same Guy Pelly who was just found guilty of drunk driving in July. It was Pelly?s second drunk-driving conviction and his driver?s license was yanked. But hey, Pelly is one of Harry and William?s closest friends and he keeps all of their secrets, so why not invite him to organize some kind of palace nightclub, I guess.
As for Harry?s exes and possibly his current lady all at the same party? That’s the part that doesn’t ring true to me. Harry doesn’t want to see Cressida, I tend to think they ended badly (made worse by the back-and-forth in the press post-breakup). And Chelsy… well, he probably wants to see Chelsy, “the one who got away,” but Chelsy is reportedly engaged now. Harry is probably heartbroken. As for Camilla Thurlow? I don?t know. Star Magazine had a story this week where sources claimed Harry is ?completely hooked? on Camilla because she doesn?t drop everything to be with him (she?s the Anti-Waity?). A source says:
?She will turn Harry down for dates if she has something going on. She?s very confident and that makes Harry want her even more? She has no problem sharing a pint of lager with Harry? she doesn?t try to impress him by being something she?s not. She?s the complete opposite of everyone Harry?s dated, which could be just what he needs.?
[From Star Magazine, print edition]
Sigh? I remember when the American and UK tabloids used to describe Cressida the same way. Like, Cressida was the Anti-Waity for a while too, Cressida wasn?t at his beck-and-call, Cressida didn?t want The Ring, blah, blah. This Camilla girl sounds more like a throwback to Chelsy.

| Duchess Kate & William now have a 'personal staff' of 12, not including a cook | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I?m using photos of Duchess Kate and Prince William from their previous appearances this week. Kate made two appearances (in one day!) and William? I guess he made two appearances in a day on Monday as well. Quite honestly, this week might be the last time we see them this summer. We all know that everyone has been working overtime on Anmer Hall so poor William and Kate can have some ?proper downtime.? And thank God they?re finally getting around to hiring some much-needed staff to? well, to do something. Make it look like they?re very, very busy! CHOP-CHOP!
When Prince William married Kate Middleton, courtiers stressed the newlyweds would have a modest household with few staff. Three years on, the couple have, however, quietly made another major appointment to their swelling number of attendants. They have taken on their first equerry from the Armed Services to help manage their affairs. He is 27-year-old Irish Guards officer Captain Florian Graham-Watson, who will be perfectly placed to seal the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge?s love affair with America. He has just become engaged to his American girlfriend, Celia Campbell, and their wedding is likely to be held in the U.S. next year.
Captain Graham-Watson?s appointment is the latest new member of staff at Kensington Palace. In March, Wills and Kate took on a nanny, the Spaniard Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, despite earlier suggestions that they would not employ a full-time carer for Prince George, who celebrates his first birthday next month. William already has a private secretary, Miguel Head, while Kate has her own official, Rebecca Deacon.
They are served by two press officers, Ed Perkins and Nick Loughran, while they also benefit from the advice of several officials, including former diplomat Sir David Manning. And last year, the couple employed their first orderly, a young Fijian-born corporal from the Parachute Regiment, whose role involves chauffeuring, logistics and even organising William?s wardrobe. They also have an Italian housekeeper, Antonella Fresolone.
A Kensington Palace spokesman says Captain Graham-Watson?s appointment was not announced because it ?is only temporary?, adding: ?We anticipate a permanent equerry will be recruited in due course.?
[From The Daily Mail]
I?m a very gauche American, so I do need some help translating some of these job titles. Is ?equerry? like a private secretary, an assistant or some kind of butler? A combination of all of the above, perhaps? By Katie Nicholl?s count, William and Kate now have a personal staff of 12, half of which have been added in the past year. Nicholl also says that Will and Kate are looking to hire a full-time cook sometime soon too ? you know how it is, there just isn?t enough time in the day to actually hire all of the staffers one needs. Nicholl also points out that Kate now has ?two additional female aides who help with letter writing and calling in clothes for the royal wardrobe.? How many letters is she really writing? Seriously? And I don?t think the nannies are included in the ?staff of 12? number.
When Kate and William first got married, the palace propaganda machine churned out stories about how ?normal? they were and how they barely needed any staff and Kate loves to cook for William and Kate wants to do everything for herself. I said at the time that they would NEED staff, like a press secretary and assistants to keep their schedules straight, because I assumed that Will and Kate would keep a decent schedule back then. Now that I?ve seen how little they work and how much they vacation, I take it all back. There is absolutely no reason for taxpayers to fund a staff of 12 (probably much, much more) for these royals who do so little.
PS? I wonder if the royal bum-watcher is the unlucky 13th staffer.

| Kate Middleton was hacked 155 times before 2007, by just one NOTW editor | Added 10 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

It?s sort of cute to go back and look at photos of then-Kate Middleton, before she got ?duchessed? and before Prince George?s magnificent grumpy-face. Her casual style really was sort of cute ? she used to wear lots of jeans (not jeggings) and flats and cute little blazers. She was so apple-cheeked! I wouldn?t mind seeing more of that kind of thing in her duchess-wear. Anyway, I?ve pulled some vintage Kate Middleton photos (circa 2005-07) because that?s the era we?re about to discuss.
Previously, we?ve covered the ongoing hacking trials, where UK editors and assorted shady characters have been charged with criminal acts following the revelations that many members of the public (royalty, celebrities, crime victims) were being hacked on a regular basis. One of the stories we covered was about the testimony of former News of the World editor Clive Goodman, who described hacking into then-Kate Middleton?s voicemail account to listen to messages left for her by Prince William. William used to (and maybe still does) call Kate ?Babykins? and ?Baby?. Well, Goodman was giving more testimony yesterday, and he said he and his team personally hacked Kate 155 TIMES.
The plot thickens. Kate Middleton’s phone was hacked 155 times, starting on Christmas in 2005, according to testimony from former News of the World royals editor Clive Goodman given today at trial as the hacking case against the now-shuttered News Corp.-owned tabloid continues to unfold. The journalist, who spent time in jail in 2007 for hacking the voicemail accounts of royal aides, told the court that he listened in on the Duchess of Cambridge 155 times, while Prince William’s phone was accessed 35 times and Prince Harry was hacked nine times.
“There has been no intention to deceive you or anybody else about my involvement in hacking,” Goodman said during proceedings at the Old Bailey in London, per the Daily Mail. “If anyone asks me an open question, I will give an open answer.”
He testified that he last hacked Kate’s voicemail on Aug. 7, 2006, the day before he was arrested. He said that William’s then-girlfriend was becoming a figure of “increasing importance around the royal family,” hence the increased effort spent on poking around in her private affairs.
“There were discussions about her and Prince William marrying, moving in, settling down,” Goodman recalled. “She started to receive semi-royal status around the Royal Family.”
Per the Mail, Goodman has admitted during this ongoing trial to hacking the phones of royal aide Mark Dyer; Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall’s son, Tom Parker Bowles. And just today, he testified to hacking Prince Charles aide Michael Fawcett and a PR consultant to the Duchess of York, Kate Waddington. Asked by a lawyer for defendant Andy Coulson, a former NOTW editor, why he never came forward about these particular alleged hacking victims before, Goodman replied that no one had ever asked him until now.
“I’m not on trial for phone hacking, and I completely agree I hacked these people’s phones,” Goodman said. “But they were never put to me individually.”
Coulson, Goodman and fellow defendants Rebekah Brooks, her husband Charles Brooks, Stuart Kuttner, Mark Hanna and Cheryl Carter have all denied being involved in any hacking conspiracy. The trial was suspended back in March after Goodman fell ill and they chose to wait to proceed until he was fit enough to give evidence. Rebekah Brooks has pleaded not guilty to two counts of perverting the course of justice and two counts of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office. Coulson and Goodman have denied two counts of misconduct in a public office. Carter, Hanna and Charles Brooks have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, while Rebekah, Coulson, Edmondson and Kuttner all denied a count of conspiracy to intercept communications as well.
[From E! News]
155 TIMES. Good God. And this is just one publication ? imagine how many times the editors of The Sun hacked Kate. Imagine how many times The Daily Mail hacked her. And Goodman only stopped in 2006 because he was arrested! I imagine Kate was hacked a lot when she and William broke up in 2007, and probably a lot in the year leading up to their engagement too, when speculation was high and everyone wanted to know what was going on. You know what?s sort of miraculous? That the most the tabloid press ever got on Kate was A) her work-shy ways, B) the Waity thing and C) Dodgy Uncle Gary. Because they were investigating her thoroughly for the better part of seven years pre-engagement and that?s all they got.
