He?s well-known for his ability to evoke emotion with his legendary films, and Steven Spielberg had Kate Middleton crying as she watched a special screening of ?War Horse? over the weekend.
The ?E.T.? visionary held the event at the Odeon Leicester Square last night (January 8) and he told press he spied the Duchess of Cambridge wiping her eyes at one point.
"I was sitting next to her and all I know is at one point my wife, who was sitting to my right, right in front of my face she passed a Kleenex. I saw the Kleenex go across my face, arrive and stop but I didn't want to intrude on her experience watching ?War Horse? so I never glanced over."
And Michael Morpurgo, the author of the book on which the film is based, added, "I am so honored that the Duke and Duchess have chosen this for their first royal film premiere."

Just a day before she celebrates her 30th birthday, Kate Middleton dazzled in a floor-length Cecile Dress by Erdem with LK Bennett shoes as she took to the red carpet alongside Prince William for the UK premiere of "War Horse" on Sunday evening (January 8).
Held at Odeon Leicester Square in London, United Kingdom, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge braved the wet weather as they joined 600 serving and ex-serving military personnel and their families at the debut screening of the Steven Spielberg motion picture.
According to reports, Will and Kate made the appearance in aid of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, with Spielberg telling press that he was "delighted" that the premiere was benefiting the royals' charity.
"War Horse encapsulates for me a timeless personal story of courage," the legendary director told. "The movie, which I am proud to say was filmed here in Great Britain, deals with the discovery of humanity against conflict, and celebrates bravery, loyalty, tenacity and hope."
Steven added, "We are honored to dedicate this event in aid of the Foundation which recognizes the welfare of those who serve their country in the British Armed Forces."
