I already covered the basics in an earlier post this morning, but we got more photos in from Prince William and Duchess Kate?s trip to the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in Blenheim, New Zealand, so I thought you might want to see Kate?s Alexander McQueen coatdress from other angles. Also, it?s worth noting that Kate seems to have found some new shoes too ? I haven?t seen those g?damn nude LK Bennetts so far. Also: I like that William is holding the umbrella over Kate. Polite.
Some additional details on the dress, from What Kate Wore: it?s a ?customized? piece from McQueen?s pre-Summer collection. It?s called the Utility Coat Dress or ?Belted Crepe Coat? and it?s offered in light blue and black. There ARE buttons, but they are concealed, so what?s the point, asked the Duchess of Buttons. The dress costs $3875.
The Telegraph has a lengthy piece on what went down during Will and Kate?s ?walkabout? amongst the people. There are some funny details! For one, a baby sneezed on Kate?s dress. Oh dear. One must get the frock dry-cleaned! Kate also received lots of flowers and gifts, including a black bracelet made of rubber bands. One commoner said: ?We asked her about Prince George and she said she would have taken him everywhere but he would have been a bit noisy.” I swear, the descriptions ? from Will & Kate themselves! ? of George are amazing. He?s ?noisy? and ?big? and he ?wails? a lot. He smacks babies and steals toys and cries at 3 am. He?s always hungry. He chews on his mom?s hair. And we already know that Lupo is his best friend in the world.

So much to talk about! Today in New Zealand, Duchess Kate and Prince William attended a wreath-laying ceremony and then did a public walkabout to meet the peasants who had lined up for hours to get a glimpse of the royals. Kate wore what I think is one of my favorite looks ever (on her): an Alexander McQueen coat-dress in periwinkle blue. Her hair was pulled back appropriately in a stylish ponytail too. She wore sapphire earrings which coordinated with her sapphire ring. The whole look is age-appropriate and stylish and she looks awesome in this shade of blue. You can see more photos here.
Last night, Will and Kate attended a royal portrait unveiling (the portrait was of the Queen) at the Government House. I suppose it was supposed to be a cocktail/formal event, so? no tiaras. Too bad. Kate wore a ?bespoke? dress by Jenny Packham. Going by the photos at The Mail, I thought this was a full-length gown, but it?s not. It?s tea-length. You would think that if Kate was ordering a specially-made dress (probably upwards of $20,000, right?) with a glittery fern design, she would ask for it to be full-length? Not so much. It is pretty though ? I like the fern detail and the sleeves are especially nice. Kate wore her hair down too, which? I still think is the wrong choice for formal/cocktail events in the evening.
Oh, and William made a speech! Here it is:

I hope that George doesn?t keep you up! He’s at his most vocal at 3am, as you may have noticed – I swear I heard him doing the haka this morning. He’s a bonny lad and you’ll be pleased to know that he’s currently preparing for life as a prop forward! I cannot tell you how happy I am to be back here in God?s Own Country ? as I have learned to call it ? and this time with my wife and son. When I returned to New Zealand for the first time as an adult in 2005, I came mainly to watch the All Blacks against the British and Irish Lions ? the best way to be introduced to this sports-passionate nation. In subsequent visits, my affection and admiration for New Zealand has only deepened. On this visit, I have no doubt that it will be Catherine ? and not just me ? who falls for New Zealand. The qualities that New Zealanders share in common with one another ? warm-heartedness, generosity, neighbourliness, openness, an instinctive sense of justice and freedom, to name just a few ? are qualities that I suspect ? given your modesty ? you may take for granted. But they are qualities for which New Zealanders are admired the world over.’

Now that all of the New Zealanders have gotten a good look at Duchess Kate?s Sunshine Beav, I was kind of hoping we would have non-stop photos from the royal tour. Not so much. So, I?m using some additional photos from William, Kate and George?s arrival in New Zealand from yesterday. I made an effort to use photos that I didn?t use yesterday! There are also about a million stories about the minutiae of this or that (I saw an article about Prince George?s baby shoes, for goodness sake), but I?m more interested in the basics: staffers, baby wranglers and clothes. The Telegraph had an excellent piece about what went down on the plane and beyond:
Where most of us would look distinctly frazzled after almost 28 hours on a plane, the Duchess of Cambridge looked a million dollars as she arrived in New Zealand today. But then most people don?t have a team of helpers, including their own personal hairdresser, on hand to give them a mid-air makeover before they touch down. The Duchess, who also had the advantage of a bed in a luxurious first-class cabin on the flight from London, had a team of helpers to make sure she looked refreshed and glamorous for her first visit to New Zealand.
Although the Duchess does her own make-up, her personal hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker was with her on the flight and will style her hair every morning of the tour. The 50-year-old, who charges 300 per day during the tour, was one of the first people to visit the Duchess in hospital when she gave birth to Prince George last year, so she could do the Duchess?s hair ready for her departure, and also accompanied the Duchess on her tour of the Far East in 2012.
Although the Duchess does not travel with a dresser, she has a personal assistant who can help look after her wardrobe, and her private secretary Rebecca Deacon is also on hand to make sure everything the Duchess needs is provided.
Most importantly of all, the Duchess was also accompanied by Prince George?s nanny, Maria Borrallo, who would have been able to settle the eight-month-old and allow his mother to get some precious sleep if he started grizzling during the flight. Prince George is teething and although he is said to have had a quiet journey the Duchess will have slept better knowing she did not have to worry about him.
The royal party travelled from London on a scheduled Qantas Airbus A380 which left Heathrow at 9.25 on Saturday night bound for Sydney via Dubai. The cost of the tickets, which normally start from around 6,300 per person return, was paid for by the Australian and New Zealand governments. Qantas has won awards for the level of luxury offered in its first class cabins. Passengers have an extra-wide seat that folds into a flat bed, with a duvet and sheepskin mattress, and are given 100 per cent cotton pyjamas and slippers A la carte meals are prepared freshly on board, and a complimentary leather wash bag includes skincare, toiletries, ear plugs and a leather-bound mirror. The Duke and Duchess, their staff and royal protection officers are believed to have been given the entire 14-berth first class cabin to themselves.
After being welcomed at the airport by New Zealand?s Prime Minister, John Key, the Duke and Duchess were taken away for a Maori welcoming ceremony while their staff unloaded their luggage, including around 30 outfits for the Duchess and numerous changes of clothes for Prince George. The couple will have plenty of time to get over their jet lag; after the Maori ceremony they were driven to an undisclosed location to begin 48 hours of rest and relaxation before resuming their public duties on Wednesday afternoon.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!! Omg, I did NOT realize that William and Kate had built-in 48 hours of vacation within their royal tour at the very beginning of their tour!!! No wonder why there aren?t new photos of Will and Kate: THEY ARE ON VACATION. Again. I cannot stop laughing. How crazy is that? I understand that maybe they would need a night off to acclimate themselves because they?re probably jet-lagged (although Kate did sleep on the plane while staffers tended to the teething baby, of course). But two days of vacation? as soon as they arrive?!

I?ve missed The Duchess of Buttons!! For a while there, Duchess Kate was so buttony, and then everyone was like, ?What?s with all the buttons?? and so she stopped for a time. But now the buttons are back!! YAY. These are photos of Duchess Kate, Prince William and Prince George arriving in New Zealand today. For the arrival, Kate wore a super-buttony Catherine Walker coat in a beautiful shade of red. The hat is Gina Foster and I kind of hate that (it?s too big?). If you can see your way past all of the magnificent buttons, you might notice that Kate is wearing a diamond and platinum brooch in the shape of a fern ? that was loaned to her by the Queen.
Nice stuff: as I said, I love the shade of red. I love Kate in red and she should wear vibrant colors more often. The coat has a beautiful cut and I?m even okay with the buttons. I really did miss them. I like that she wore something new for her arrival and didn?t try to do a repeat (?because she?s so thrifty?). Not so nice stuff: her skirt blew up literally as soon as she walked off the plane. How many ?Marilyn moments? is Kate going to have?
As for Prince George? he?s so wonderfully grumpy. He?s a cutie and I think he?s probably displeased with the outfit his mom picked out for him. There was a controversy over the weekend about the baby car seat that the embassy (??) ordered for George in New Zealand?? You can read about the controversy here. Basically, someone released a promotional image of the car seat that George was going to be using and it was facing the wrong way so now people are mad. Or something. George will also be meeting some commoner babies in New Zealand ? on Wednesday, George will attend an event organized by The Royal New Zealand Plunket Society and he will interact with some peasant babies who are close in age.
Did you know this Kate?s first time in Australia and New Zealand ever? She?s never ever been.

I?m often sick with jealousy at the great TV programming that British Celebitches get to enjoy on a regular basis. Of course, I?m sure the UK has its share of ?crap telly,? just like America, and to comfort my jealousy, I do love American television these days. And our shows have longer seasons, etc. We have Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones (it?s a mostly British cast but it?s still American-produced and written), and on and on. Still, you guys have Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Bletchley Circle (God, I love Bletchley Circle) and some really great miniseries.
Anyway, Duchess Kate and Prince William have a lot of down-time to watch TV. Obviously. Duchess Kate has let it slip in the past that she and William watch Downton Abbey and she?s even admitted to watching The Only Way Is Essex, which is apparently a terrible reality show that makes the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills look prudent and thoughtful. And now Us Weekly says that Will and Kate have another favorite reality show: The Apprentice UK!
Not even the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge can resist a little reality TV! Kate Middleton and Prince William are apparently big fans of The Apprentice UK, the British version of the U.S. TV competition starring billionaire Donald Trump. Recently, the Duke had a chance to chat with Apprentice UK businesswoman Karren Brady at Buckingham Palace — an opportunity he used to ask one very important question.
“He asked me when it was coming back on,” Brady told reporters of the 31-year-old royal at an event in March. “I know that he and the Duchess of Cambridge are big fans of the show.”
So-called “First Lady of Football” Brady — a sports executive, television broadcaster, journalist, and author — first appeared as a celebrity contestant on Comic Relief Does the Apprentice back in 2007. She’s now an assistant on the show to Alan Sugar, who is the Trump of the franchise’s BBC version.
Brady and the prince first met in 2012, when he and Middleton, 32, attended an event for The Thirty Club, a private dining club for people in the advertising industry. “They both said how much they loved the show,” Brady said of baby Prince George’s proud parents.
Unfortunately for the Duke and Duchess, the Apprentice UK is not set to return for its 10th installment until this fall, thanks to soccer (or, as they call it overseas, football). The BBC rescheduled its usual spring/summer start to avoid overlap with the 2014 FIFA World Cup in June and July.

Alan Sugar is Lord Sugar, isn?t he? Obviously, I?ve never seen The Apprentice UK, but I?ve chanced upon some episodes of the American version with Donald Trump, and it?s awful. It?s extremely stupid. But maybe that?s just because I think Donald Trump is a terrible, terrible person? Perhaps. Anyway, this is just an FYI: Will and Kate watch crap telly. They watch reality shows like TOWIE and The Apprentice and then they jet off on neverending holidays. You get the idea.

Taking care of her Royal duties, Kate Middleton showed up at the grand opening of the ICAP Art Room at Northolt High School in the Ealing neighborhood of London, England today (February 14).
The Duchess of Cambridge had all eyes on her as she greeted staff, students and spectators while wearing an absolutely gorgeous royal blue Detroit Dress from LK Bennett despite the rainy weather outside.
And though Kate and her hubby Prince William aren?t together this Valentine?s Day, they?ve been voted the most romantic couple of the UK.
A rep for the Net Voucher Codes website, who conducted the survey, explained, "It's great to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge named the nation's most romantic couples. Right from their time at university, to the Royal Wedding through the birth of Prince George we've witnessed their blossoming romance go from strength to strength."

Ready for a fabulous affair, Kate Middleton arrived at the National Portrait Gallery in London, England this evening (February 11).
The Duchess of Cambridge donned a stunning blue evening gown paired with an amazing diamond necklace as she greeted guests before heading inside.
The 32-year-old is the guest of honor at the event celebrating the work of Man Booker Prize-winning novelist Hilary Mantel.
Kate will have to hold in any anger after Mantel caused outrage last year with comments made towards the Duchess about her role in the British monarchy.
While Middleton was pregnant with baby George, the author said that Kate had gone from being a ?jointed doll on which certain rags are hung? to a woman whose ?only point and purpose? was to give birth.
Now, the author?s ?pen portrait? of Thomas Cromwell is the reason for Kate?s visit this evening, as she promotes the work at the National Portrait Gallery?s fundraiser.

Prince William checked into Cambridge for his first day of ?school? on Tuesday. Apparently, he arrived on campus in the morning, and he went back to London in evening. But there are still arrangements for William to have an apartment (either on campus or campus-adjacent, the details are sketchy), so I?m thinking he probably won?t make it back to London even half the time he?s doing this bespoke course. When we were discussing it on Tuesday, I asked what you guys thought Duchess Kate would do in William?s absence. Would ?looking after Prince George? be sufficient, would Kate take the baby and go home to her mom?s house? Would Kate be allowed to briefly outshine William and take on more solo charity work? The answer so far is ?none of the above.? While William?s away, the girl?s just shopping.
As William began his Cambridge course in agriculture Tuesday, his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, headed out for some retail therapy ? just in time for her birthday.
Dressed in a baby blue coat, Kate, who will turn 32 on Thursday, checked out the home furnishings and picked up some supplies at one of her favorite department stores, Peter Jones, in London’s Sloane Square. Also spotted in the store: her mother, Carole Middleton, 58.
Fellow shopper Louisa Smith saw Kate in the cashier section, and noted that there was very little fuss about the VIP.
“You wouldn’t have known it was Kate Middleton,” Smith, an independent distributor for a health and wellness products firm, told PEOPLE. “The shop is always quite calm anyway, and there wasn’t a great deal of people around.”
In fact, said Smith, “It was only when I did a double-take that I realized it was her.”
Once the recognition factor kicked in, Smith was very impressed: “She was absolutely beautiful. She has a very magnetic energy about her. She looked absolutely stunning.”
Besides, said the shopper, “It was nice to see her doing ordinary stuff!”
As for her birthday, it doesn’t look as if Kate will be able to spend much of it with William, given that he is commuting 60 miles north to Cambridge from their home for the day. (As royal insiders point out, it’s a bit early in the term for him to start cutting classes.)
Still, if his first day back to school was any indication, the two should be together again by evening.

I?ve actually heard (and someone confirm this if it?s true) that the UK papers are banned from publishing even Twitter and Instagram photos of Kate and William when they?re out and about. Like, no newspaper can publish the photos that commoners publish on their social media accounts. Because it?s high treason, apparently, to see the future queen elbow-deep in the discount rack?
Anyway, chica loves to shop. And why not? Charles is paying her bills and William would rather spend her 32nd birthday (today!) with nubile coeds. I’m not even joking – it’s being widely reported that William is staying at Cambridge today while Kate celebrates her birthday “privately” with her mom at Kensington Palace. So…shop away, duchess. Shop away. And happy birthday, chica.

Doing her duty as a member of the Royal Family, Kate Middleton attended a very special event in London?s Canary Wharf on Wednesday (November 20).
The Duchess of Cambridge smiled for the press as she arrived at the Place2B?s Resilience and Emotional Strength in Schools Forum, designed to help children build a positive self-image.
Meanwhile, Kate?s understated-yet-feminine vibe has inspired famed FOX Sports reporter Erin Andrews to follow suit.
Andrews explained that when she gets dressed she goes for a ?preppy? very Kate Middleton look. Men are watching me. I have to be careful that it's not too provocative, not too sexy, but also something a typical sports fan can relate to. If it's too high fashion, my demographic won't get that."

They?re always up to something exciting, and this morning (November 19) Prince William and Kate Middleton showed up at the London offices of the UK charity Only Connect.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge snagged a sitter for Prince George before meeting with representatives of crime prevention charities who work with young offenders.
Kate wore a walnut brown Orla Keily print dress that she previously donned during her appearance at The Art Room in Oxford back in 2012.
At the time, Keily noted that having Middleton model her wares was a huge blessing to her bottom line. "When Kate wears one of your designs you get a boost. The phone was ringing off the hook - email went, and one of my team counted over 800 Google alerts at that time! The only thing was, it was the end of the season so we didn't have so many of the dresses in stock. But it's a nice thing to happen."
