To promote the new season of And Just Like That, Kristin Davis gave an absolutely charming interview to the Telegraph. I normally wouldn?t consider an interview ?charming,? but I was charmed by Davis?s honesty, realness and positive energy. She?s a single mom by choice, she adopted two Black children, and she?s not the prissy, uptight Charlotte in real life. She manages to navigate tricky conversations with grace, conversations about ?woke? whatever, race, ageism, cosmetic work and Kim Cattrall. Some highlights:
The original ?Sex and the City?: ?People forget how shocking it was. Four women over the age of 30 starring in a show where men are secondary and we?re talking about relationships and sex openly.?
On the criticism that these characters should be left in the past: ?Why shouldn?t our lives still be interesting? Society expects you to diminish yourself as you age. But why should we? As Mary Steenburgen [the 70-year-old Oscar-winning actress] said the other day, ?I?m still alive.??
On the criticisms of how ?woke? AJLT is: ?I?m so tired of that word. I feel like it has been weaponised. And it?s unfortunate ? because it really just means being educated about what other people are going through. Why is that a bad thing??
She never married: ?I think it was a reaction to the South [she grew up in South Carolina, the only child of a data analyst and a psychology professor], where they?re very, very focused on getting married soon. There?s pressure. My parents were not like that. [They] were much more hippie and I was more independent. I remember saying very young: ?I am never getting married.? I was like, ?Down with the patriarchy!? I did not want to stay [in the South] with all the blonde people. I?m sorry. No offence.?
On Kim Cattrall?s absence from AJLT: ?You have to respect people?s wishes. I?m not gonna waste energy on it. I can?t change anybody. I do understand fans? feelings ? that they?re upset? I wish I could fix it, but I can?t, it?s not in my power.?
Her children Gemma and Wilson are now 11 and five. ?I?d always thought about adopting. But it took me forever to actually do it. They give you this form and there are a bunch of races listed there and you?re supposed to check the ones you want. I thought that was nuts so I just checked ?any?.? She has become very attuned to any hints of racism. ?People make crazy comments. They want to know why my tall daughter doesn?t play basketball. And when you have a boy, it?s really frightening to look at the news.? Home, she says, is ?hectic?. ?They?re very sporty right now. My daughter?s running track and my son is obsessed with basketball and soccer??
She barely dates: ?I have a lot of mom friends who want to set me up, I can?t deal with it? I?ve tried because life is short, right? Sometimes you think ?That might work.? But it?s a challenge? It?s an energy issue. Twice I tried new relationships: one with someone I had known for many years, someone brilliant in our industry? He got upset with me that I hadn?t paid attention to something work-wise that he?d done and I was like, ?Dude?.?
She talks openly about the cosmetic work she?s done: ?It?s hard to be confronted with your younger self at all times. And it?s a challenge to remember that you don?t have to look like that. The internet wants you to ? but they also don?t want you to. They?re very conflicted?? At first she just tried Botox. ?I was super-excited I didn?t have to have my lateral lines. But I didn?t do anything else for a long time.? Then came the fillers: ?I have done fillers and it?s been good and I?ve done fillers and it?s been bad. I?ve had to get them dissolved and I?ve been ridiculed relentlessly. And I have shed tears about it. It?s very stressful.?
Now, she says, she has a more laissez-faire attitude to the whole thing. ?It?s whatever. I can?t keep it up. I don?t have time. You?re trusting doctors [but] people personally blame us when it goes wrong ? [as if] I jabbed a needle in my face?? She is referring to some work on her lips. ?No one told me it didn?t look good for the longest time. But luckily I do have good friends who did say eventually. The thing is you don?t smile at yourself in the mirror. Who smiles at themselves in the mirror? Crazy people.?
[From The Telegraph]
She also tosses off the fact that she ?gave up drinking in her early 20s? because she was an alcoholic back then. Which I didn?t know, but she makes it sound like it?s something that everyone knows? She also says that she has it in her AJLT contract that she gets to keep all of Charlotte?s clothes. Which is amazing. Basically, she just sounds like a normal, stressed-out single mom and working mom. She barely has time to date, she?s experimented with cosmetic stuff, she?s just trying to get through the day, basically. Anyway, she seems cool.

| Kristin Davis made sure no trained elephants were used on her new film | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kristin Davis stars in a new holiday film, Holiday in the Wild. It?s currently on Netflix and also stars Rob Lowe and his son, John Lowe (above). The story takes place in Zambia, or at least it starts there, I haven?t seen it yet and most promotional information just says ?Africa.? It follows a New York woman, recently dumped, on a safari trip only to be derailed by love. But I?m not talking about Kristin and Rob?s characters. I mean, of course they fall for each other, but the important love story is that Kristin?s Kate character falls for ? elephants! What?s even cooler than centering a love story around elephants is that Kristin, who is a huge elephant advocate, got Netflix to agree to humane conditions for filming the elephants, the first being: no ?broken? elephants were to be used.
Heres the People Live video. Kristin discussed not using trained elephants at the start, about the :30 mark, but Ill transcribe below:
[From People]
And you were very adamant about not using trained elephants. So why was that so important to you?
Because trained elephants have been ?broken,? unfortunately, it?s the sad truth. You know, the history of animals and the entertainment industry is not a great one. So, we?re trying to change that and my feeling was that this film was my love letter to all the people I?ve met for the last decade, who are trying to save elephants from extinction, by raising the orphans of the elephants killed for their ivory, poached for their ivory. So I wanted it to be a love letter to them. They devote their lives to it, and there was no way we could do that with trained elephants. It would be the opposite, in fact. So, we really worked with Netflix for years, I mean, I worked for a few years before we got together with Netflix, and I researched the two places we filmed for years, to make sure they were ethically correct ? and they were amazing. And then I had to go down there and convince them to let us film. I had to do it because I was the elephant person.
?So I wanted it to be a love letter to them. They devote their lives to it, and there was no way we could do that with trained elephants,? that is truly so beautiful. Kristin has always loved elephants but has been actively fighting for them since 2009. I?m awed by the efforts she went to to get this film made. Kristin credited Netflix for agreeing to her terms. I?ve heard the animal horror stories from circuses (including being permanently traumatized by reading Water for Elephants) and have pledged not to support those. But this puts some light on those elephant and camel rides at some zoos and animal ?protection? facilities.
I?m sure the folks that read CB don?t need any more reason to fall for elephants, but if you watch the rest of Kristin?s interview, you?ll be love-struck. She describes how an elephant ?reads your soul? when it meets you and said if you were anxious, they might do something silly to put you at ease. I think both those things were on my checklist for a perfect mate when I was single. She also talked about vibrations elephants use to communicate with each other and that humans don?t hear it, but they absorb it, which leads to something akin to a meditative state. Kristin said they call it, eledrunk and as far as I?m concerned, the only drunk I ever want to be again is eledrunk. That sounds amazing.
There are many ways to help elephants. The first is always through information like Kristin shared in this interview. If you have the means to do more, she suggests Game Rangers International, where you can donate, fundraise or even volunteer. Plus, the they have an adoption program. The holidays are upon us, folks. Don?t tell my mother, but she?s getting an adopted elephant for Christmas *dusts off favorite kid trophy*.

| Kristin Davis didn't 'fully understand' white privilege until she adopted black children | Added 5 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Kristin Davis stopped by Jada Pinkett Smith?s Red Table Talk, which I?m still shocked is a thing. Aren?t you surprised that Red Table Talk is still a thing? It is. And Jada keeps getting some interesting interviews, and I swear, every one of these episodes ends up making news. Kristin Davis has been pretty low-key since Sex and the City, and she seems to be focused on single-motherhood and occasional TV work. In 2011, Kristin adopted her daughter Gemma, and then last year, Kristin adopted a son, whose name has not been publicized. Both of Kristin?s children are African-American. That?s what the Red Table Talk conversation was about white mothers raising black children, and how Kristin?s eyes were opened to the everyday racism black people experience. Some quotes from the interview:
Kristin wants to ensure her children have access to the black community. Because my children are African American, I feel like it is my duty and my job to do as much research, as much work, build as many bridges as possible, because you are their community, and that is key, and that is so important.?
She was open to adopting black children: She didnt really lean into her deep need to be a mother until she was 38. Then, she started the adoption process. It seemed racist to be saying, No, no, no, no, no, she explained of checking off a questionnaire, which asks prospective parents to check boxes of the race of child theyd like to adopt. A social worker then came to her house for an interview process that lasted days, asking her about how shed raise a child with a different race than her own. After that, Davis took online courses to prepare her to adopt Gemma, who is black. There were a lot of courses. One was just about hairI know its a big thing, and Im still learning. You cant just send her off somewhere, or him off, to have his hair twisted or braided or whatever. You need to, just like you would your own child you gave birth to, learn what is best for their skin and their hair. And if you dont, you will be judged harshly.
Understanding white privilege: You absolutely do not fully understand [white privilege beforehand]. Theres no doubt. Theres no way you could. Because you can understand that you live in white privilege, and thats a theory, and you can see things. But its one thing to be watching it happening to other people, and its another thing when its your child. And you havent personally been through it. Its a big issue, and its something that I think about every day and every night.?
Seeing her children experience racism: Its hard to put into words, really. I mean, theres been so many things over the years. Gemma is seven now, but the first couple things happened when she was a baby and Id be holding her in my arms, people would say to me, Wont she be a great basketball player? I just had to be like This is a baby. How could you say that, without being just mortified? Thats when it began.?
Understanding institutionalized racism. She described how she hit a turning point when she noticed her daughter wasnt being treated fairly on the playground of her mostly white school, and that she was told the school didnt see color. It was a very harsh moment of deep understanding. I dont know how every person of color has gotten through this I dont understand how you could take this every day. I will never be black and therefore I will never be able to say to Gemma, I understand how you feel because this happened to me. Thats whats painful and hard.?
[From ET]
I respect Kristin so much for talking about all of this, and for not being afraid of acknowledging her own white privilege. On one side, it?s sad that the only way most white people could actually understand their white privilege is when they see that it?s non-transferable, that their privilege isn?t a bubble that they could extend to their black or brown or mixed-race children. Kristin and Jada also talked about Jada?s own preconceived notions about white people parenting black children, and how her views on that have changed over time, and how Jada is worried about the conversations Kristin will need to have with her black son as he grows up too. These are difficult subjects and it?s great that Jada and Kristin can talk about them openly.

Kristin Davis is so low-key, I always forget that she quietly adopted a daughter back in 2011. Kristin is rarely pap-strolling with her daughter, Gemma ? the photos in this post are from 2014, and that?s literally the last time I can find that Gemma was photographed. Kristin isn?t a mommy-blogger and she?s not giving constant interviews trying to brand herself with the Motherhood Industrial Complex. I like that about her. I also like and appreciate the comments Kristin made during a speech at The Greene Space a few days ago. She talked about her own white privilege and how she?s very concerned about how her African-American daughter will be treated in Donald Trump?s America.
Kristin Davis is filled ?with terror? for her adopted black child.
?I am white. I have lived in white privilege. I thought I knew before adopting my daughter that I was in white privilege, that I understood what that meant,? Davis, 51, recently explained while speaking at The Greene Space in New York City. Davis adopted her now 5-year-old daughter Gemma Rose Davis in 2011. ?But until you actually have a child, which is like your heart being outside you, and that heart happens to be in a brown body, and you have people who are actively working against your child, it?s hard. It fills me with terror.?
That feeling increased after Davis, who campaigned for Hillary Clinton, learned Donald Trump won the election.
?My initial thoughts on Wednesday morning was that I wanted to move to the woods and learn to shoot a gun,? Davis said. ?It makes no sense. I?m fully aware. I?m 100 percent aware that it literally makes no sense ? the fear of what is happening and how am I going to make sure that no one hurts my child, even in a subtle way, which was already a fear I had obviously, but it just became so, so heightened.?
Despite the fears she faces on a daily basis, Davis gives Gemma words of encouragement.
?I have to tell her your curls are beautiful, your black skin is beautiful,? she said. ?You?re beautiful. You?re powerful. You?re a goddess ? because she needs to know this.?
Davis also makes sure positive figures like Serena Williams are prominently displayed in her home.
[From Page Six]
I?ve listened to interviews and read pieces with white mothers who have adopted or given birth to black or mixed race children, and this is a common thread, this idea that the white women thought they knew about their own white privilege and understood racial issues. Then they become mothers to black babies and suddenly they realize that the world is still pretty racist, and that their bubble of privilege will rarely protect their children. I like how open Kristin is in this discussion too, she?s not sugarcoating it (nor should she). It?s a scary time to be anything other than white in this country. Full disclosure: I?ve also been thinking about arming myself these days. I already live in the suburbs and ever since Trump was elected, I?ve been thinking more and more about what I can do to protect my own brown body.

All smiles as she left the restaurant, Kristin Davis had lunch at Le Pain Quotidien in Brentwood, California today (September 25).
The "Sex & the City" star kept it casual in a navy long-sleeved top and blue jeans as she petted a friend's dog at lunch before hitting the streets.
Recently, the 47-year-old actress was announced to be sharing a story onstage at the Eight Stories High event for Oxfam's 70th anniversary.
The poverty and injustice fighting organization promises an evening of tales of courage, passion, innovation, and perspiration.
Also an Oxfam Global Ambassador, Kristin says of the event, "I am deeply proud to be involved in Eight Stories High ? there are so many untold and fantastic stories that touch Oxfam?s world, which should be shared. This event is a very special 70th anniversary celebration and I am honoured to be involved as a Global Ambassador for Oxfam.?

This will be kind of a depressing story for those of us who delighted to see Kristen Davis and Aaron Sorkin’s red-carpet debut as a couple last month at the premiere of HBO’s “The Newsroom.” They were all over each other with the smooching, the grabbing, and the rubbing. Basically, it was a very unexpected PDA fest, and they seemed like quite the happy new couple — she a gorgeous, underrated actress and he a very intelligent, nerdy-attractive producer (despite whatever sunburn or poorly coordinated fake bake was going on with him at the time). They seemed like a good match, really, but now In Touch reports that it’s all over now. Kristen and Aaron have already broken up and gone their separate ways!
In Touch has exclusively learned that new couple Kristin Davis and Aaron Sorkin have called it quits.
“They’re very different people,” a close friend of the pair tells In Touch. “She’s focused on raising her daughter, Gemma, and he’s working on his show.”
The split comes just two months after the Sex and the City star and Oscar-winning screenwriter showed up as a couple for the premiere of his new HBO series, The Newsroom.
Despite the short-lived romance, the source assures there are no bad feelings. “They’ll definitely remain friends.”
[From In Touch]
I guess it sounds like Kristen and Aaron merely realized they have different goals in life, and Kristen may be very busy raising her newly adopted daughter while Aaron is putting in the long hours in the studio. What a bummer. I don’t suppose there’s any way I can blame this on Olivia Munn, right? Evidently not. Crap.

Sporting a huge smile, Kristin Davis was spotted signing autographs before heading into the "Good Morning America" studios to talk about her latest acting adventure in New York City, New York on Tuesday (July 17).
After greeting fans outside, the "Sex in the City" star swapped her orange dress for a red one but decided to keep her animal print wedges on as she joined John Stamos and Cybil Shepard to talk about headlining Gore Vidal's Broadway show "The Best Man".
Talking about having a part in the Tony nominated political drama, Davis admitted, "It's very scary. I didn't sleep for a couple weeks." adding, "It's literally like every single person in the play is so amazing and you have such respect for them that you just don't want to mess up."
Explaining how she messed up during the play, Kristin said, "For whatever reason, I think it was our first night, my mind just totally blanked, totally blanked. There's a bunch of people in the scene, John [Stamos] is not there to help me Cybil [Shepard] I'm supposed to be interrupting so it was hard for her to help me and Angela [Lansbury] started, she just started saying her lines over and over again, what ever I needed, it was like the sweetest thing."
During the interview Stamos and Davis revealed a surprising bit of information when asked what it's like playing husband and wife on stage together, John joked "Sex in the City", before admitting, "I've never seen 'Sex in the City'"," at which point Kristin piped in, "And I've never seen 'Full House'".

At last night’s premiere of HBO’s “The Newsroom,” a little bit of steam was present on the red carpet, and it wasn’t coming from hopeful suspect Olivia Munn. Instead, there was a hot new couple on the scene in the unlikely form of Aaron Sorkin and Kristen Davis. Okay, so “hot” is a relative term when it comes to Sorkin, but he’s an obviously intelligent man, which is an attractive trait in its own right. As for Kristen, I’ve always found to not only be impossibly pretty but also a very underrated actress. She went from playing a psychotic, obsessive freak in the original “Melrose Place” to playing goody-two-shoes Charlotte in “Sex and the City,” but she’s unfortunately been relegated to “mom in the background” types of roles ever since then. Anyway, she looks quite taken with Aaron and he with her. From Us Weekly’s take on the topic, it sounds like they’ve been attracted to each other for quite awhile and have just recently decided to take the plunge into dating in a very public way:
New love in the city for Kristin Davis!
After weeks of speculation, the “Sex and the City” star, 47, and famed screenwriter Aaron Sorkin confirmed their rumored romance — with a passionate kiss on the lips on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of HBO series “The Newsroom” Wednesday night.
With plenty of cameras present to capture the moment, 51-year-old Sorkin (creator and executive producer of Newsroom) grabbed Davis and gave a long, lingering kiss. Davis, pretty in an A-line aquamarine dress and strappy stilettos, grabbed her new man by the shoulders.
“They are really happy,” a source told E! News in late May. “They have actually known each other a while through mutual friends and would sometimes bump into one another at industry events, but it has only just turned into something more.”
The Oscar-winning screenwriter divorced Julia Bingham back in 2005; they share daughter Roxy, 12. Never-married Davis adopted a baby girl, Gemma, last year.
[From Us Weekly]
Good for Kristen and Aaron. They have that look of smitten romance, and who knows? This could be something real. As for “The Newsroom” vamp-in-residence, Olivia Munn, she was there too and gorgeous in white but also looking pretty full of herself as well. Kaiser mentioned that Olivia was holding herself out as if “she’s arrived,” but I’d like to note that her name isn’t exactly top billing on that poster behind her. Still, this show is a great opportunity for Olivia to show her stuff, if she’s got it, and only time will tell on that note.

During the six-season run of “Sex and the City” as an HBO show, I was a faithful viewer of the program. Actually, let’s start over — for the first four seasons, I adored the show as a guilty pleasure, and for the final two seasons, I tolerated the demise of what was enjoyable and fun about the four main characters. Then the executive producers had the bright idea to make not just one but two films that turned the entire franchise into a caricature of itself. Like many other people, these movies put a very bad taste in my mouth; as a result, I can no longer go back and enjoy old episodes of the show. So it does not come as pleasing news to learn that the CW is proceeding with “The Carrie Diaries,” which will serve as a prequel revolving around the high-school-aged exploits of Carrie before she hooks up with Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. What’s more, they’ve cast Annasophia Robb (Soul Surfer, Race to Witch Mountain) in the role of Carrie, which could prove to be an early career killer for Robb if the show fails miserably. Will anyone actually tune in to watch it?
Annasophia Robb has some big — not to mention fashionable — shoes to fill.
The actress, 18, is set to play a high school version of the Manolo Blahnik-obsessing, love-chasing Carrie Bradshaw, a role originated by Sarah Jessica Parker in HBO’s Sex and the City, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
The CW has ordered a pilot episode of The Carrie Diaries, which will chronicle Bradshaw’s teen days in ’80s Manhattan, long before penning her sex column.
Also getting carried away with Robb, who portrayed real-life survivor Bethany Hamilton in last year’s Soul Surfer: The Killing’s Katie Findlay and Scott Pilgrim Vs. the Worlds Ellen Wong, who will play two of Bradshaw’s friends ? presumably before she meets BFFs Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon).
The series, which will also star Running Wilde’s Stefania Owen as Carrie’s little sister Dorritt, is based on author Candace Bushnell’s Sex and the City prequel of the same name.
[From People]
Last July, Blake Lively was being considered for the role of Samantha Jones while producers were still sort of envisioning the prequel as a movie with Elizabeth Olsen as Carrie (like she’d really go there). Kaiser and I were discussing how Blake’s fame hustling through relationships with Leo DiCaprio and Ryan Reynolds has actually increased her profile so much that, ironically, she’d probably now consider an SATC prequel series on the CW as too “downmarket” for her worth as an actress. Then again, Blake’s still appearing in “Gossip Girl” these days, right?
As to the decision to cast Robb, who to date has mostly appeared in wholesome movies, in the role of 1980s Carrie, meh. I just hope she enjoys wearing Guess jeans and Jessica McClintock dresses.

Exciting news for Sex and the City?s Kristin Davis - she just became a mom! Well, not ?just?. Apparently, Kristin adopted a little girl through a domestic adoption process several months ago. Kristin named the baby girl Gemma Rose Davis. As far as I know, Kristin is not in a relationship with a man or a woman (there are rumors that she?s a lesbian, but I?ve never seen anything confirmed), so I?m assuming Kristin will be raising Gemma as a single mom. She issued a statement (and a photo, here) to People Mag:
Kristin Davis is a new mom!
The Sex and the City star, 46, welcomed daughter Gemma Rose Davis through domestic adoption a few months ago, PEOPLE has confirmed exclusively.
“This is something I have wanted for a very long time,” Davis tells PEOPLE. “Having this wish come true is even more gratifying than I ever had imagined. I feel so blessed.”
Davis, who is a global ambassador for Oxfam and a patron for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, will next be seen in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
[From People]
Congratulations to Kristin! I like it when celebrities fly under the radar so effectively. Kristin is never in the tabloids, even when she?s promoting something. While the Sex & the City set was, at times, consumed by a catfight between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, I never heard anything about Kristin fighting with any of her costars, on that series or any project. So? my verdict is that she?s just the kind of sweet, stable and charitable woman who should be a mom.
