Enjoying an afternoon of lunch and shopping, Katherine Heigl was spotted out on the town in Los Angeles on Friday (May 4).
Looking quite chic, the former "Grey's Anatomy" star donned a striped three-quarters sleeve top, black trousers and matching ballet flats while grabbing a bite to eat at House Cafe before joining her mom on a quest for fabric at Silk in Beverly Hills.
The outing comes as it was just announced that Katherine will host the upcoming CBS premiere of "Shelter Me," a film that spotlights the impact shelter dogs can have on human lives.
?As a huge animal lover, I was immediately drawn to this project because it advocates for the homeless pets at our local shelters. It?s important to generate awareness and overcome stigmas about these local facilities as well as promote these amazing animals and how they improve people?s lives," Miss Heigl told press in a statement.

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, already parents to a 3-year-old daughter they adopted from South Korea in 2009, announced today that they had adopted another child. People Magazine says:
The couple… have welcomed a second little girl.
?Yes they have adopted a baby,? [Heigl's] rep tells People. ?No further details [are available] at this time.?
Adoption was definitely the route to go here. If I were Josh Kelly, I wouldn’t want to have to have sex with her, either. It’s like she’s aged ten years overnight. I didn’t think you could age that fast unless you slept in an oak barrel inside the Jack Daniels distillery.

If you’d told me a year ago that I’d actually enjoy reading what I’ll fondly refer to as “Deep Thoughts by Katherine Heigl,” I’d have repeatedly laughed in your face. It’s true though — Katherine’s opinions on working outside the home as well as her hatred of “Dance Moms” and her admission that marriage is difficult have endeared me towards the presumed ice queen of sorts. Now Katherine has spoken about the difficulty of attempting to bond with her child, Naleigh. Of course, Katherine and husband Josh adopted Naleigh when she was quite nearly a year old, so it wasn’t an instant process:
When Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley adopted 10-month-old Naleigh from Korea in 2009, the new mom expected the mother-daughter bond to be strong and immediate.
Not so, the actress admits in an interview with German weekly newspaper, Bild am Sonntag. “People are always talking about the strong bond between mother and daughter, this magical connection — but we didn’t have that,” Heigl says.
She described the early days with Naleigh as “the hardest time in my life. … I fought incredibly hard for my daughter to accept me as mother. Her rejection almost broke my heart.”
Heigl found the rejection so oppressive that she threw herself into her work which, she admits, “made the already difficult process of getting closer take even longer. … When I realized that, I immediately cut back on work.”
That’s when she left “Grey’s Anatomy.”
The child did bond with Kelley, which made Heigl wonder if she might be the problem. “At first I blamed myself and thought I was a bad mother. It took a while before I could admit to myself that the lack of trust had nothing to do with me,” she says.
Now Heigl and her daughter have a tight bond. So tight that Heigl is unafraid to travel to South Korea with her now 4-year-old daughter. “I’d like to fly to South Korea with the family,” she says, “to show her the country that she comes from.”

Until now, most people assume that Katherine left “Grey’s Anatomy” merely because she thought she was just too good for television. Instead, Katherine had a damn good reason for doing so. Now she can focus on movies, where her schedule is a little bit kinder than a weekly drama and permits for more Naleigh time. Or at least, she could do so until recently before One for the Money crashed at the box office. Time for another career reinvention, methinks.

Spending an afternoon out with family, Katherine Heigl was spotted enjoying time with her loved ones at Little Dom's restaurant in Los Feliz, CA on Wednesday (March 28).
The "27 Dresses" darling donned a grey over-sized sweater and skinny jeans while accompanied by her singer husband, Josh Kelley, and her mother, Nancy, for the delectable lunch pit stop.
The family outing comes just as the "Grey's Anatomy" alum may be adding another skill to her already long list of successful talents. Heigl, who is known for her great performances on both TV and the big screen, has recently been adding designer to her resume.
Yesterday, Kelley took to his Twitter page to show off his wife's newest talent, as he posted a picture of a red and yellow skirt which the actress made for their three-year-old adopted daughter, Naleigh.
Her loving hubby followed the pic up with a caption reading, "My wife... made this awesome skirt for my daughter last night... I wonder if she could make me some."

Walking out wearing a glowing smile, Katherine Heigl was spotted leaving a meeting in West Los Angeles on Monday afternoon (March 12).
The "One For The Money" starlet looked happy on her day out as she sported oversized sunglasses, a white cardigan and leopard print flats while strolling towards her nearby ride.
The outing comes after one of Miss Heigl's former "Grey's Anatomy" co-stars, Ellen Pompeo, made an appearance on Chelsea Lately earlier this month discussing any possibility of her former castmate returning to the show.
Many fans of Katherine's have been interested about the topic, but when Chelsea asked flat out if the 33 year-old blonde beauty would be invited back to the series, Pompeo said definitively, ?I don?t think so... No, I don?t think that?s happening.?

Looking stylishly chic, Katherine Heigl stepped out for lunch in Beverly Hills, CA on Tuesday (February 21).
The former "Grey's Anatomy" star wore a tan jacket over a similarly colored shirt tucked into dark flared jeans with nude pumps.
Enjoying the midday meal with her mother, the 33-year-old spent about two hours at the Bouchon Bistro, after which she was seen hugging and talking to a woman while she waited for her valet car at the restaurant.
In her most recent film, "One For The Money", Miss Heigl portrays an unemployed and recently divorced woman who lands work at her cousin's bail-bond business.
Her first assignment on the job leads her to a wanted cop from her romantic past - with the film currently playing in theaters.

Go ahead and yell at me, but I like the occasional animal print. I know it?s trashy and tacky, but sometimes I find an animal print jacket, dress, pillow or rug to be very cute. Such is the case with this zebra-print dress that Katherine Heigl wore in Germany. It?s just the right length, just the right fit, and just the right amount of zebra. I LOVE IT. And it looks great on her figure too – very slimming, right? My only issue with this look is Dame Heigl?s hair – bitch has hair issues, and while this style is an improvement from her teased-up, white-blonde grandma style, it?s still pretty ugly.
Anyway, last week, everyone was talking about Heigl?s latest essay/blog post for iVillage. I always forget that Heigl is a ?blogger? too – she writes about mom stuff, and it?s usually pretty boring for me. In last week?s post, Heigl too on that show Dance Moms and the early sexualization of young girls. Here?s part of her blog post:
I?m not much of a reality TV watcher. I tend to stick mostly to the comedies and dramas that I love, but I recently happened to catch an episode of Dance Moms and watched with open-mouthed amazement as girls as young as seven were encouraged to dress provocatively and shimmy around a stage doing a dance performance that could just as easily been a burlesque routine. I kept thinking all these girls were missing is a pole! I was also horrified by the way their instructor spoke to them when she felt they weren?t up to snuff. It was demeaning, belittling, and downright unkind.
My daughter was in the room at the time as was my mother and I kept looking over at my perfect, innocent and beautiful child wondering how can I protect her from what the world is becoming. My mother was outraged and — never one to hold back an opinion — vented that it was not even remotely necessary to speak to a child the way the dance instructor was, that no one during the course of my performing and early years as a child model and actor had ever talked to me like that. She insisted that the tough-love attitude was totally misguided and not what makes anyone succeed — and certainly not a child. She reminded me that I was loved, encouraged, and held through the journey of my career and was never demeaned, berated, or told I was not doing my best and look how well that has worked for me.
She is right, of course. My mother worked hard to build up my self-esteem, to protect it from those who did not, and made it her priority to see me grow into a young woman who had a sure and steady sense of herself that could not be torn apart. The example my mother set for me is what I hope to achieve and emulate on behalf of my own daughter. I think we all know through experience that the world gets tough enough soon enough. I strongly believe there is no reason to break anyone down in order to prepare them for inevitable disappointment or unkindness. There is no reason to diminish anyone?s self-esteem in order to get them to try harder next time. Especially not a child?s.
I believe a significant part of my role as a mother to a daughter is to shelter and build up her self-esteem. This is not to say that I will sit around and tell her she can do anything and everything and is perfect in all that she does. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and when I came home from school with a bad grade on another math test, it was apparent that algebra would never be my strong suit and my mother didn?t pretend it was. I was told I needed to pass the class but I was also told it was okay that I didn?t excel at it, that there were other things I was good at. That?s the direction I was encouraged to follow.
?It terrifies me, the amount of value we place on a woman?s looks, body, and ability to drop it like it?s hot on the dancefloor. It?s one thing to walk into a club and see twentysomethings embracing their sexuality and having some fun, but it?s another thing altogether watching seven-year-olds shake their booties, bellies, and nonexistent boobies on a stage in a room full of adults and be handed a trophy for it. What in the world are we telling them? That sexy is the prize and is the talent they have?
I used to perform in a local dance academy when I was growing up and we did jazz routines that were fun, imaginative, high energy, hip and age-appropriate! The young girls on Dance Moms are wonderfully talented, spirited ladies who should be encouraged to perform since they seem to truly have a knack for it. I just wish they were being inspired, instructed, and supported for their gifts as I was when I found my creative path. I wish they were being shown and taught by example that they are wonderful, unique and valuable for far more than their bodies, and their ability to be perfect at all times.

It didn?t seem that controversial to me – Heigl was simply coming out for more age-appropriate dance instruction for young girls, and she was drawing from her own experiences as a child performer, with her mom acting as ?momager?. The whole ?nurturing your child so they understand they are the most special flower in the world? is a debatable issue – I understand nurturing, I understand encouragement and being a cheerleader for your kids in a tough world. But at some age, kids do need to learn how to fail and how to get back up. And hopefully when they learn that, it?s not on the set of Dance Moms.
There?s also a vein of hypocrisy, sure – some of Heigl?s performances as a child actor were in sexualized roles, which Heigl glosses over. But seriously – Dance Moms is a horrifying show. And now the moms are really pissed off at Heigl too – they?re issuing statements and telling her to ?suck it.? They?re probably just happy with the extra publicity, though.

Getting an early start to the work week, Katherine Heigl resumed her overseas press tour with a visit to Berlin, Germany on Monday (February 6).
The former "Grey's Anatomy" actress donned a one-shoulder zebra print dress as she worked the arrivals area at Hotel de Rome during a photocall session for her new movie "One for the Money".
While the Stephanie Plum based motion picture hit theaters in the States a week and a half ago, it's scheduled to make its German debut on April 19th.
Meanwhile, Katherine continues to land roles with ease - as it was just reported that she's set to star in and co-produce "an independent thriller about a psychologist struck with a rare affliction that makes it impossible to distinguish people by their faces" aptly titled "Face Blind".
With Maven Pictures? partners Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray also taking on producer roles, the film is scripted by Dominic Harari and Teresa De Pelegri.

Taking care of some overseas promotion, Katherine Heigl was spotted at the Esslingen Town Hall in Esslingen, Germany today (February 3).
The ?Knocked Up? starlet signed the ?Golden Book? while she was there, and also did some genealogical study on her family origins ahead of tomorrow?s Berlin premiere of her new flick ?One for the Money.?
Once she was finished with her town hall duties, Katherine headed out into the city where she encountered a newlywed bride and snapped a few photos.
As for her new film, it?s rumored that Katherine snagged a whopping $15 million for her services, though it only banked $11.5 million in its opening weekend here in the States.
