Here are some photos of Katherine Heigl at this weekend?s NBC Universal press tour/Upfronts in LA. She looks nice, doesn?t she? When she isn?t dressed like her mom, she looks very nice, although I will say this? this is how every mom wants her daughter to dress. Right? Anyway, by now everybody knows that Katherine has a fatal case of foot-in-mouth disease. She has alienated so many screenwriters, TV writers, producers, directors and fellow actors, it?s no wonder that her career has been in the toilet for the past three or four years. But Heigl is attempting a comeback of sorts ? she?s giving up on her movie star dreams and returning to TV with a new hour-long NBC drama which just sounds like a take-off on Homeland and Scandal.
Heigl recently gave a magazine interview which was sort of like the beginning of the new, softer Dame Heigl. She used the passive voice to describe her stunted career, like bad choices just ?happened? and she wasn?t making those decisions (or alienating those people). So, as far as I?m concerned, asking her about all of her career history is fair game. Still, she seemed surprised when a journalist brought it up during the press tour.
It was the question everybody wanted to ask?and it got so awkward when someone finally did. NBC?s State of Affairs panel during the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills got a bit tense when the topic turned to Katherine Heigl, her mother Nancy (an executive producer on the upcoming series), and rumors about the pair?s reputation on set. It started when a TCA reporter reminded Heigl about some of the controversial remarks she had to say about Hollywood, particularly focused on her conduct on set, whether her career was out of her control, and whether she felt there is ?a portion of this controversy that is about Hollywood not knowing what to do with a woman who speaks her mind.? The reporter also asked whether Heigl felt her career was now back under her grip.
After a visibly speechless Heigl let out an elongated ?Umm?,? producer Ed Bernero tried to answer the question for Heigl, but the reporter pressed on: ?Seriously, I want to hear from Katherine.?
?I don?t know that I said I felt my career was not under my control,? Heigl said. ?I think I said I felt I had stopped challenging myself and I was making choices that I loved, that I was excited about. I loved doing romantic comedies, I loved doing them and I loved watching them, but I stopped ? exercising different muscles of my ability. And in that moment, I felt that I was sort of letting down my audience, that I wasn?t challenging them either.?
Heigl continued: ?I think that this opportunity is ? and I think a lot of people want to know why this show, why come back to television ? it?s because it?s an extraordinary role, it?s an extraordinary opportunity, and an extraordinary story, and it?s an opportunity for me to flex some different muscles and show a different side of myself as an actor and a performer and a storyteller that I hope my audience will be excited about and love.?
Heigl then addressed the reporter?s second concern, fielding rumors that she and her mother might be difficult to work with. ?I can?t really speak to that. I can only say that I certainly don?t see myself as being difficult. I would never intend to be difficult. I don?t think my mother sees herself as being difficult. We always ? I think it?s important to everybody to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully and kindly. If I?ve ever disappointed somebody, it was never intentional.?
Prior to Heigl?s question, one critic called Nancy Heigl?s executive producer credit ?stage mothering to the extreme? when asking NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt and president Jennifer Salke about the move. Salke responded: ?I?ll tell you very honestly ? we had an amazing meeting with them. They?re both very smart, formidable women, and I?m not just giving lip service to this?they?ve been fantastic producers and incredibly smart through this process. She?s someone who has a strong opinion, but we?ve found her to be nothing but adamant to the process, and also Katie really relies on her in her life. It?s a real partnership that seems to work for both of them and it?s been great for us. But it?s not surprising when the mother walks in the door with her, we knew they were a set and worked together in the past. I would call her her ?mom-ager,? her best friend ? she?s a partner in her life. They have a very natural shorthand. So far, so good.?

First, that?s quite a euphemism: ??I felt that I was sort of letting down my audience, that I wasn?t challenging them either.? That?s like saying ?low-information voters.? It?s a euphemism for stupid people. Heigl?s words are a euphemism from ?I was making stupid movies for stupid women.?
As for the stuff about her being difficult? I give her credit for answering the question. But I do think her answer lacks a sort of public acknowledgement of self-awareness on Heigl?s part. It?s not that I believe she lacks awareness about her own behavior and her mom?s behavior ? I think she?s just trying to gloss over everything to promote her show. She doesn?t want to spend this press tour saying, ?I made horrible mistakes in my career and I only came back to television because no one wanted me in their movies anymore.? But yes, she comes across as a woman who is so ignorant of her OWN history that she?s doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

I?ll fully admit that Katherine Heigl gives me a solid case of schadenfreude. I?m never happier than when she fails. It?s like Christmas for me that she?s finally given up on films and had to return to TV. However, I do not enjoy the fact that she?s come back to (lucrative) network television, or that her new TV show is like a fancy rip-off of Scandal mixed with Homeland. We?ll see if it works out ? but I suspect Heigl and her mom will find a way to ruin it. If they haven?t already. Anyway, Katherine talks about her career lows in this new Marie Claire UK cover story. The cover is terrible, right? They made her look like she?s had plastic surgery. Some highlights:
When her career faltered: ?The thing that was my best friend for a long time suddenly turned on me. And I didn’t expect it. I was taken by surprise and angry at it for betraying me.?
She thinks she did too many romantic comedies: ?I had an amazing time. I love romantic comedies. But maybe I hit it a little too hard. I couldn’t say no. I stopped challenging myself. It became a bit by rote and, as a creative person, that can wear you down. That was part of why I took that time off, to ask myself, ?What do I want? What am I looking for?? and shut down all the noise.?
She almost quit the business: ?Oh yeah, I had a moment where, I don’t know, I was thinking I’d maybe open a knitting store, get my money out of retirement accounts and live off that, live off the land. I had my moment where it all seemed so complicated and all I wanted to do was simplify.?
But she?s back: ?There’s a part of me that’s a Hollywood animal as well. I can’t wait to get into the writer’s room and see how we do this. I feel like I’m finally rolling into the next phase of my adulthood.?

First of all, I feel like Katherine really learned the wrong lessons from her career downward spiral. Granted, she has lousy taste in film projects but that?s what happens when an actor is just doing sh-t for the paycheck. The ultimate problem is the whole ?doing sh-t for a paycheck? thing though, not the lousy taste in projects. Plus, the quality of the projects Katherine was offered was probably on a steep decline after she became known as a pariah who would bad-mouth coworkers, writers and directors. And she and her mom were just known as ?difficult.? They still are known that way.
And here?s how I know that Katherine hasn?t changed one iota: ?I can’t wait to get into the writer’s room and see how we do this.? Katherine is not, say, Tina Fey or Mindy Kaling. Mindy and Tina were/are writers on their shows, they were writer/producer/actresses shepherding their shows through the process of network TV. Katherine is not a writer. She ALIENATES the writers on whatever show she?s on. No writer wants her in the writer?s room. No writer wants to hear her ?notes.? Heigl never changes. Her big return to TV is going to be such a mess, y?all.

This story was in the last Enquirer’s Gossip section. The Enquirer sported a makeover starting with their latest issue. While our friend Stacie didn’t like it, I think it’s a nice change from the older Enquirer layout, and that it’s cleaner and easier to read. Anyway Mike Walker’s gossip section is much improved. He had this believable tidbit about Katherine Heigl flipping out because some lackey spelled her name wrong on her dressing room for her new NBC show, State of Affairs. Instead of handling the situation on her own, Katherine called her mom, natch, who read someone the riot act and eventually got the person responsible fired. To be fair, this story doesn’t directly state that Katherine’s mom demanded the person get canned, but it’s implied.
“It’s Katherine with a K!” bellowed… Katherine Heigl, who walked onto the set of her new NBC spy series “State of Affairs” and discovered a major misspelling of her name on the dressing room door – “Catherine” with a C instead of a K, and worse, “Heigl” with an “e” added at the end! “That is NOT my name!” shouted Katherine with a “K” – who’s kranky even on good days. “I’m the star and they can’t even get my name right? Are you f*ing kidding me?!” Said my on-set source. “In a rage, Katherine phoned momager Nancy and demanded she find out the culprit and get her name corrected immediately. It turned out the mistake was made by a new assistant director – who’s now looking for a new job!”

It’s unacceptable to have the star’s name spelled wrong on their dressing room, and it is incredibly incompetent. How can someone make such a basic mistake? Still, all Katherine needed to do was point out the error and it would have been taken care of. Throwing a fit and demanding to know who did it is unnecessary and unprofessional.
Katherine’s mom is her manager, so it makes some sense that she called her. We’ve heard from many well established outlets that Katherine’s attitude, and her pushy mom, have been costing her jobs and may be why her romcom career is over. A couple of months ago, Star Magazine claimed that Katherine was ready to fire her mom but that obviously hasn’t happened yet.
Switching gears to a nicer story about Katherine, People had a profile this week of her animal charity, The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, named after her late brother. Katherine’s charity helps find homes for dogs, provides funds to move dogs to no-kill shelters, and helps families pay to spay and neuter their pets. Katherine has 8 dogs, 11 horses, 2 donkeys and 10 chickens at home with her husband Josh and their two daughters, Naleigh, 5, and Adelaide, 2. Included with her 8 dogs is a pup named Billie Bean, whom she rescued from Sochi. Cute!

We get emails from PR firms every day letting us know that various, usually lesser celebrities are wearing specific brands of clothing, workout wear, shoes or handbags. We even get emails about what little kids are wearing. Many of these are planned product placements in which a celebrity steps out in the item and calls the paps, some are freebies given to celebrities for this purpose, and I suspect far fewer are happy accidents for the clothing companies.
Sometimes PR firms can be overzealous in pointing out that a celebrity is wearing their client’s brand, as when a firm for Valentino sent out an email about the purse Amy Adams was carrying to Philip Seymour Hoffman’s funeral. In that case Amy just issued a statement through her rep that she was not a paid spokesperson and that “the suggestion she would use this moment to participate in a promotion is truly appalling.”
That seems to be the best way to handle an unwanted association with a brand, issue a statement and put the PR firm on notice. Katherine Heigl has gone a step further though. Hiegl was photographed after shopping at drugstore Duane Reade. (You can see that photo here.) The company tweeted the paparazzi photo of Heigl along with the benign caption “Love a quick #DuaneReade run? Even @KatieHeigl can?t resist shopping #NYC?s favorite drugstore.” The next step for Heigl would logically be to issue a statement or maybe a cease and desist and request an apology. Instead she’s suing Duane Reade. For $6 million dollars. Heigl claims she’ll donate the money to her animal charity, but it sounds pretty suspect to me.
The 35-year-old ?27 Dresses? and ?Grey?s Anatomy? actress filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Manhattan Federal Court seeking more than $6 million in damages.
The lawsuit says Duane Reade on March 18 tweeted the photo of Heigl carrying two Duane Reade bags with the tagline, ?Love a quick #DuaneReade run? Even @KatieHeigl can?t resist shopping #NYC?s favorite drugstore.?
?The Heigl photograph is a typical ?paparazzi? shot, depicting plaintiff walking on the street in New York City, in a private moment looking away from the camera,? the lawsuit says.
?Use of plaintiff?s image under these circumstances improperly exploited plaintiff?s name and likeness, as a celebrity, for defendant?s commercial advertising and purposes of trade, without authorization.?
The lawsuit boasts that Heigl?s films have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide and she ?continues to be in high demand.?
In other words, the blond movie star doesn?t need the money.
Her prescription: she plans to donate any damages paid by Duane Reade to her animal welfare charity, the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. A Duane Reade spokesman didn?t immediately return a request for comment.

From what I understand, it’s a bold and somewhat rare move to file a full lawsuit without first sending a cease and desist. Heigl possibly sent a C&D first, but I think we would have heard about it. Plus it’s only been three weeks since the tweet. This is a woman who was once a romcom darling, but who has admitted that she’s hurting for cash and has been begging for funding for her indie movie. She’s also a paid spokesperson for Zzzquil, and I doubt Nyquil paid her more than a million to represent them. This sounds like a cash grab and like she’s hoping for a quick settlement. It’s arrogant and somewhat desperate, which seems to be Heigl’s MO lately.

These are photos of Katherine Heigl at the premiere of the animated film The Nut Job on January 12. She looks like she got fresh fillers in her face, right? She looks much different to me. Heigl has a new independent movie project called Jenny’s Wedding. Heigl plays a gay woman who comes out to her family and marries her same sex partner. It’s like one of Heigl’s typical romcoms with a twist, and it actually sounds like a cute film with a heartwarming message. The film co-stars Tom Wilkinson as Heigl’s dad and Alexis Bledel as her partner.
Heigl and the film’s producers have started an Indigogo campaign to try to raise $150,000 to fund post-production. The filming has already been completed and they just need the money for editing and effects. The Indigogo campaign has been up for about two weeks and so far they’ve only raised about $32,700, or less than a quarter of the amount they need to finish the film.
One of TMZ’s paparazzo approached Heigl at the airport and asked her if she would make up the difference if the campaign on Indiegogo wasn’t successful. She said, “no,” basically because she doesn’t have a lot of extra money to throw around.
“I haven’t made that much in the last few years, man. I gotta support my family.”
The paparazzi also asked Heigl what kind of research she did for the role, and she joked “I did full on threesomes and I watched threesomes.” She said this while her mom was standing right next to her, and then she added “It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with emotion and love and finding the right person in your life and I already know all that.”
That’s a nice enough answer and it’s a topical subject. So why can’t Heigl raise the money for this film? I guess she doesn’t have enough fans or enough goodwill left in Hollywood. We’ve seen her burn her bridges, repeatedly and publicly, for years. She did one movie in 2012, One for The Money, and one movie in 2013, The Big Wedding. Both tanked and didn’t even earn their production budgets back, although Big Wedding was more of an ensemble film.
Heigl has a horrible reputation in the industry and she doesn’t have fans left to fund a feel good movie about an important and popular subject. She’s a cautionary tale really. I doubt she’s broke, though. Celebrity Net Worth claims she’s worth $18 million, so $100k or so should be a drop in the bucket to her. Maybe she realizes that bucket has to last an awfully long time.

Looking excited for their next adventure, Katherine Heigl and her daughter arrived at LAX airport on Wednesday (January 8).
The "Knocked Up" star smiled at paparazzi in a silk blouse, cuffed blue jeans, and red flats as her adorable little girl Naleigh Kelley held onto her toys and mom's hand beside her.
Next week, fans can hear the 35-year-old actress's vocal talent in the upcoming animated flick, "The Nut Job."
In the comedy, a curmudgeonly squirrel is banished from his park and forced to survive in the city. Hope arrives in the discovery of Maury's Nut Store.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter published one of the most critical slam pieces I?ve ever read in any of the major Hollywood magazines. Katherine Heigl was the one being slammed ? she had just signed on to do a new TV show (or the pilot of a new TV show) and various sources came out of the woodwork to basically call her disloyal, difficult, entitled, money-hungry and unprofessional, and so much more. Heigl?s career has been in the toilet for years ? some say it?s mismanagement (her momager?s unprofessionalism has been widely discussed), some say it?s just Heigl and how awful she is to work with. In any case, taking a TV show is a ?step down? for someone who was once considered the rom-com heir to Julia Roberts, but Heigl is trying to make the most of it. She issued a statement on Friday:
Will Katherine Heigl silence her haters with her return to TV? Two days before a new report claimed the actress is difficult, demanding and ultimately “not worth it,” Heigl, 34, couldn’t have sounded more humble after NBC announced she’ll be starring in their upcoming CIA drama.
Heigl, who famously left ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy in 2010 to focus on her family and film career, issued a statement in a press release posted on her website Sept. 9, expressing her excitement on returning to TV.
“I have been passionate about, and enthralled by, this project from the moment Hank, Rodney and Bob brought it to me over a year ago. The story is not only compelling and intelligent but a look behind the curtain at the CIA we haven’t seen before in film or television,” she said. “I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life. NBC has been a true partner in their passion and support for the show that we’ve dreamed of making and I could not be happier about joining forces with them. Together, with our brilliant writer Alexi Hawley, I believe we are going to make great television!”
The show, written by The Following’s Alexi Hawley, will tell the story of “a maverick CIA officer (Heigl) plucked from the field to become the President’s Daily Briefer, responsible for targeting America’s most critical threats, while navigating the unique lifestyle that comes with such a high-powered job.” Executive producers on the show include Robert Simonds, Hawly, Henry Crumpton, Rodney Faraon, Julia Franz, as well as Heigl and her mother/manager Nancy Heigl.
The Life as We Know It actress and mom Nancy were both slammed by TV insiders in a report by The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, Sept. 11. “I have never experienced anything like Nancy Heigl,” a source told THR. “It’s about the mouth. ‘F— you. You are a f—ing liar.’ Whatever you’d say, you were an idiot. The call would be, ‘This is the worst craft service we’ve ever had! There’s nothing to eat! This is the worst wardrobe!’ You knew that every day, you were going to get slammed. The frustrating part is [Heigl] is incredibly talented and smart.”
Another anonymous TV executive told THR that Heigl was passed up for a lead role on a new pilot due to her alleged bad behavior. “On many levels, she would have been perfect for the role,” the exec said, “but all of us said, ‘She’s not worth it.’”

You know what? I think this is going to be bad at every level. First of all, The Following was TERRIBLE. I watched the whole first season just to see what the hell was going to happen, and I can safely say that it was the dumbest, most poorly written show on TV last year. So, we know that this new show isn?t going to make much sense logistically or even as a ?suspend your disbelief? fiction. Secondly, this is going to be awful because it?s just so obviously a take-off of Homeland and Scandal, only the lead actress isn?t likeable or sympathetic at all. Thirdly, this is going to be a disaster because Heigl hasn?t changed at all and I know that because her mother is the executive producer. This show might be on my hate-watch list, just to see how nonsensical and dumb it really is.

Katherine Heigl has sort of become a cautionary tale for a lot of up and coming actors. One, you’re only as good as your last box office and, two, don’t be an asshole when you’re on top because if you ever become box office poison, people are going to be reluctant to work with you.
We haven’t seen much of Heigl in recent years. Ever since she went off on how sexistKnocked Up was,despite owing her film success to that movie, and removing herself from Emmy contention for Grey’s Anatomy because she thought the writing sucked,she’s been in fewer and fewer projects. That coupled with her overbearing and difficult to work with “momager,” Nancy, has made it impossible for her to find work. The Hollywood Reporter did a story on how it all happened and the rise and fall and potential rebirth of Heigl.
Not even five short years ago, Heigl commanded $12 million for a movie. Her 2009 romantic comedy The Ugly Truth pulled in more than $200 million worldwide. But her most recent effort, The Big Wedding, topped out at $21.8 million domestic with a paltry 7 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. To be fair, that was something of an ensemble effort with a cast that included Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton. Her most recent film before that, One for the Money, managed only $37 million worldwide with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 2 percent.
[...] As has been the case since the days when Heigl was a child model, her mother was fiercely protective. “I have never experienced anything like Nancy Heigl,” says this source. “It’s about the mouth. ‘F— you. You are a f—ing liar.’ ? Whatever you’d say, you were an idiot. The call would be, ‘This is the worst craft service we’ve ever had! There’s nothing to eat! [...]There seems to be little doubt about Heigl’s talent, but still, not everyone is convinced that her television comeback will be successful. “If you make your picks based on stable actors, it’d be a small list,” acknowledges a top television executive. But given Heigl’s reputation, he says a project would have to be blazing hot for a network to consider getting involved. A top producer at another network says there were reservations when Heigl’s name came up a few months ago for a project that had been greenlighted to pilot: “On many levels, she would have been perfect for the role, but all of us said, ‘She’s not worth it.’ ” But sources say NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt personally pushed for the deal. He declined comment.
Grey’s Anatomy wouldn’t take her back even though she expressed interest in returning in 2012.Heigl is now back to tv in a new series hoping to find success again.
Of course, not everyone has bad things to say about Heigl. Some supporters, including Greg Berlanti, says, “I would work with her again in a heartbeat.She’s an amazing actress, and her in a TV show that’s a great idea and well executed would be something I would watch and would feel lucky to work on myself.”
Obviously there are two sides to every story. This could just be a case of two type-A personalities butting heads. But if Heigl’s comments about her past projects are any indication, it may simply be because she’s an ungrateful asshat. It’s like being invited to an exclusive party and then turning around and publicly humiliating the person who brought you. Bad form, man. You’re supposed to that kind of stuff behind their backs like everyone else.

Maybe it?s gossip sixth-sense. Maybe it?s just a lucky guess. But I?ve always known that Katherine Heigl is a piece of work. It?s not just ?oh, she?s brassy and opinionated and THE MAN doesn?t like that.? Nope. She?s just unpleasant, greedy and rude. She alienates coworkers wherever she goes. She?s disloyal and narcissistic during interviews. Anyone who has ever dealt with her in a professional setting never wants to work with her again. And that says something, you know? If it was just an odd story here or there, you could say ?well, it?s just a clash of personalities? or ?that guy just doesn?t like sassy women.? Again, not so much. When it?s the overwhelming majority of people who have ever dealt with her, yeah? believe it. She?s not your sassy girlfriend. She?s just an unprofessional a?hole who gets it away with bad behavior because she?s a blonde America?s Sweetheart type.
So how bad has it gotten for Heigl? Pretty bad. So bad that she?s coming back to television after she flunked out of her big movie career. So bad that as soon as she got her hands on a TV project, all of her enemies have come out of the woodwork to bad-mouth her to The Hollywood Reporter. *Asked about the state of Heigl’s career, a top executive at a studio that made one of her movies says tartly, “I think she’s doing the perfect thing — going back to television.”
*[An] insider on the [Life As We Know It] recalls “desperately difficult situations” with Heigl, from casting to wardrobe and beyond. (Heigl, who was paid $12 million, didn’t have casting approval but insisted on exercising it, says this source.) “She can cost you time every single day of shooting,” says this person. “Wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day. Even getting her deal closed at Warners was hard. She hit that point of ‘no.’ ”
*As has been the case since the days when Heigl was a child model, her mother was fiercely protective. “I have never experienced anything like Nancy Heigl,” says this source. “It’s about the mouth. ‘F— you. You are a f—ing liar.’ ? Whatever you’d say, you were an idiot. The call would be, ‘This is the worst craft service we’ve ever had! There’s nothing to eat! This is the worst wardrobe!’ You knew that every day, you were going to get slammed. The frustrating part is [Heigl] is incredibly talented and smart.”
*Things began to go awry [in 2008]. Heigl had her first full-on starring role in the romantic comedy 27 Dresses, but in the Vanity Fair cover story to promote that film, she vented about the negative turn that her Grey’s character had taken. Izzie’s arc was “a ratings ploy,” she said, because the show was in its fourth season and “there’s not a lot of spontaneity left.” (The show is about to begin its 10th season). Heigl also disparaged Knocked Up, and the notion that she was not only ungrateful but disloyal began to take hold.
*Production had gone smoothly on 27 Dresses, says a high-level source involved in the film, until it was time to promote the picture overseas. “There were movie-star demands — big rooms, the mother there, all the stuff,” says this person. ” ‘We need the presidential suite at The Bristol!’ It was just a sense of entitlement. The biggest stars don’t do that kind of thing.” The prospect of working again with Heigl lost its allure.
*In June 2008, Heigl announced that she would not seek another Emmy for Grey’s, citing a desire “to maintain the integrity of the academy organization.” The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, deflected questions about Heigl’s behavior at the time but told Oprah Winfrey in December 2012: “On some level, I was not surprised. When people show you who they are, believe them.”
*Predictions for her new show: “If you make your picks based on stable actors, it’d be a small list,” acknowledges a top television executive. But given Heigl’s reputation, he says a project would have to be blazing hot for a network to consider getting involved. A top producer at another network says there were reservations when Heigl’s name came up a few months ago for a project that had been greenlighted to pilot: “On many levels, she would have been perfect for the role, but all of us said, ‘She’s not worth it.’ ”

To be somewhat fair to her, I cut out some of the quotes showing support for Katherine, which were spaced out in between the tales of her entitled diva behavior and disloyalty. For what?s it worth, I do think part (PART not ALL) of the problem is Heigl?s mom and the people around Heigl ? there are plenty of actors and actresses who act like huge d-bags on a regular basis, but you don?t hear about it as much because those actors have great teams of qualified people around them, protecting them and insulating them. Katherine doesn?t have that. But if she was serious about her career and about ?changing,? you?d think that she would realize that she should put a better team in place to manage her career? And that?s what I come back to ? because at the end of the day, Heigl is responsible for herself and her image and her team. If she hasn?t fired her mom yet, that means that she really hasn?t changed at all.

Is Katherine Heigl broke? I doubt it, although I don?t think she?s had a lot of money coming in lately. In 2011, she only appeared in one movie ? the ensemble film New Year?s Eve. She probably wasn?t paid that much for it, and by ?that much? I mean ?maybe $1 million?? Then in 2012, she again only appeared in one film, her attempt at starring in the Stephanie Plum franchise, One For the Money, which did not bring in the money at the box office. Although I?m sure Katherine got a fat paycheck for it (?fat paycheck? = $10 million, maybe?). For this year, once again she only has one film coming out (The Big Wedding) and it?s an ensemble. So far, that whole ?leaving TV behind to be a movie star? thing hasn?t worked out for her, financially or career-wise. But again, ?not working out? still means she scores seven-figure paydays once a year.
So what then to make of this Star story? Star says Katherine is having some money problems because she finds it so hard to get work (because of her attitude) and because she and her husband Josh Kelley spend too much money, I guess.
Katherine Heigl?s tense departure from Grey?s Anatomy in 2010 to become a movie star has backfired, and now she?s struggling to keep her family?s lavish lifestyle afloat!
?Since her husband Josh is a struggling musician, he hasn?t brought in much money over the past few years. So she?s stuck holding down the fort,? says a close source to the couple, noting that Katherine?s notoriously bad attitude is keeping her from landing jobs.
?No one wants to deal with her drama.? So Katherine is ?taking whatever she can get,? including commercial gigs, most recently for Vicks ZzzQuil sleep-aid.
Katherine also has her two adopted daughters, Naleigh and Adalaide to think of.
?She is very anxious about her financial future since her last few films have flopped,? explains the tipster, suggesting that Katherine cut herself a big slice of humble pie: Katherine needs to check her attitude and earn respect if she wants to save her career.?

Whether or not Katherine really is having financial problems, it seems like the biggest problem is her career not her bank account. She really could have been the new Rom-Com Queen, but she blew through her goodwill so quickly, and the hissy fit she threw about Grey?s Anatomy made her look especially melodramatic and unprofessional.
But maybe Katherine has learned her lesson. Maybe. A few weeks ago, Deadline reported that Katherine is set to return to television for an hour-long starring vehicle on NBC. Deadline says the drama will be a ?procedural [which] focuses on how the CIA handles hotspots around the globe, with Heigl playing an adviser/communications liaison for the U.S. president.? The show will be executive produced by her mother/manager. And there-in is the rub. One of the biggest problems with Katherine Heigl is her momager. For real. And I guess this show is supposed to be like ?the network-version of Homeland?. Homeland, starring Katherine Heigl, executive produced by her mother. Did anyone else roll their eyes?
