What happens if, after all of her hair-tossing and hustling, Jennifer Aniston doesn?t even get nominated for anything for Cake? I mean, would that be funny or would the schadenfreude be too heavy and we would actually feel sorry for her? I?ve always side-eyed the manufactured (and bought and paid for) ?Oscar hype? around Aniston?s ?going fug for Oscar? role in Cake, but I thought some awards shows would throw her a bone with a nomination or two. But Aniston couldn?t even wrangle an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Cake was completely shut out of the Spirit Awards!!! Oh well? maybe she?ll get a Golden Globe nomination. Snort.
Another thing that puzzled me about the manufactured Oscar buzz? The fact that a trailer hadn?t been cut and released months ago! It?s the weirdest thing. But maybe it had something to do with the fact that no one had any interest in buying Cake? Maybe it had something to do with the last-minute wrangling to get Cinelou a distribution arm, specifically so they could distribute Cake? Whatever it was, it was a bad decision to let all of these weeks go by without releasing a trailer. They finally released one this week:

It does have a decent cast ? Sam Worthington, Anna Kendrick, Felicity Huffman, Adriana Barraza, Sam Worthington, Mamie Gummer and many more. I wonder? would this film have more legitimate buzz if it starred someone like Julianne Moore? Also: does Aniston?s character have a sexual relationship with Sam Worthington? Hm.

Never one to take herself too seriously, Jennifer Aniston played a silly prank during her appearance on ?The Ellen DeGeneres Show? this week.
The ?Horrible Bosses 2? star put on an inflatable bra before her interview and at one point her chest began growing ever so rapidly.
Aniston and DeGeneres played a game called ?Last Word? in which they both took turns shouting out word substitutes for curse terms.
And by the end of the segment, Jennifer was many times her usual bust size. She joked, ?This is my version of the [Kim Kardashian], but the forward one.?

Taking care of some promotional duties, Jennifer Aniston showed up at a special Pandora Jewelry-hosted engagement in West Hollywood last night (November 23).
The ?Friends? star was all smiles in a pair of designer spectacles as she posed for photos ahead of a screening of her new movie ?Cake.?
For the role, Jen transformed into the antithesis of her usual camera-ready, Tinseltown starlet persona.
She explained, ?I basically just didn't work out for two-and-a-half months. I stopped working out and I stopped being as careful about my diet as I normally am. I was still healthy, but I'd allow more.?

I kind of hated Jennifer Aniston?s whole look at last Thursday?s Horrible Bosses 2 premiere in LA. Her Zuhair Murad dress was dated and fug and her Bump-It ponytail was not all that cute. But I guess we?re supposed to think Jennifer?s every hair-move is noteworthy, because People Magazine literally published a story about her premiere-look hair. Seriously. They spoke to her long-time hair guy and BFF Chris McMillan and wrote up a longer article? about Jennifer Aniston?s ponytail. It?s so stupid, but I?ll admit it ? I read every word. It?s part infomercial (for LIVING PROOF, obvs) and partly just? Oscar stuff, I guess. Just keeping her name out there, even if it?s just people talking about her hair. Here?s the article:
There are a few things we know as sure as we know the earth is round. Kim Kardashian is proud of her abs. Chris Hemsworth is the sexiest man alive. And if Jennifer Aniston isn?t wearing her hair down and side-parted, she?s wearing it in a ponytail. She wore it in just such a style at last night?s Hollywood premiere of Horrible Bosses 2, but wait! Her stylist Chris McMillan proved we can still be surprised when it comes to her hair. Read on for three surprising facts about the star?s look last night.
1. Her Bangs Serve Two Purposes. Sure, they look cute, but McMillan tells PEOPLE, they?re really all about the photo op. ?She likes to use her hair as a prop, so she?ll be able to look over and use her fingers to push the hair out of her eyes,? he shares. ?Jennifer Aniston is a pro at having hair in her face and wrangling it out of her face, and making it look effortless and sexy.? (His secret to touchable texture? A little Living Proof Instant Texture Mist ? she?s a co-owner of the brand and he?s the celeb stylist.)
2. She Finds Hair Inspiration at the Drugstore. McMillan has been doing her hair for years, but she still manages to surprise him occasionally ? as she did by suggesting the finishing touch for last night?s pony. ?At Rite-Aid they have these ponytail holders that are two-thirds hair and the other part is the rubber band,? he says. ?Jennifer sent me a picture and was like, ?Look at these things, they?re kind of cool, huh?? So I bought them and I used one of them in her hair [last night]!? His go-to strategy usually involves a bungee elastic (?it keeps all the nape hair from buckling and becoming saggy?) topped with the star?s own hair, but he had to admit Aniston?s solution worked. ?I always see them but say I?m never going to use them, but then I used it and I was like, ?It?s working. I?m leaving it,?? he says.
3. Her next hairdo is a purple pixie. Okay, okay, he was joking, but McMillan swears he is convincing the star to mix up her look a bit. ?It?s still within her range, but we?ve been switching things up. She?s not showing up with the same hairdo,? he tells PEOPLE. ?We?ve been talking long, piece-y Alexa Chung-type bangs! I might get her in a weak moment. She?ll kill me, but it?s OK!?

GIVE ANISTON?S HAIR THE OSCAR. Her hair is the best part of Cake, obviously. And good lord, I hope Aniston doesn?t succumb to piece-y Alexa Chung bangs. Alexa?s bangs are awful and I just don?t think Aniston needs that kind of look. As for ?she likes to use her hair as a prop?? You don?t say! She?s built a 20-plus year career in Hollywood out of playing with her hair on camera.
Also: Jennifer told Extra that she was ?the original? when it came to showing her butt on the cover of a magazine. She was asked about Kim Kardashian?s Paper Magazine photoshoot and Jennifer mentioned her old Rolling Stone cover in the 1990s, where you could sort of see her butt ? go here to the NSFW cover. It?s always a good awards season when Brangelina comes to play, but this year is going to be extra-special because Jennifer Aniston is also coming to play. And while we can joke about how Jennifer is setting herself up to fail, the truth is? her money, her hustle and her connections are already playing a big part in how her ?Oscar chances? are being framed. Like, no one really thinks she?s going to get an Oscar nomination, but Jennifer is being included in all of these conversations. It?s looking like she?ll probably get nominated for a Golden Globe and maybe a Spirit Award. And then she?ll parlay the ?buzz? into an Oscar-presenter gig, won?t she? Thus fulfilling the In Touch Weekly prophecy.
One of Aniston?s latest ?prestige? promotional moments came from the LA Times. The LAT is doing something new for this year?s Oscar season ? they?ve teamed with Epix to do ?roundtable? actress and actor discussions. And they included Aniston is a roundtable with Emily Blunt, Shailene Woodley, Jessica Chastain and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The stuff won?t air until December 8th, but CB watched a preview and she sent me this transcript about Aniston?s labor of love (CAKE!).
?I’m always trying to find the great small roles, the stronger more slice of life more complex and I’ve been doing fart jokes for a long time, which I love immensely. So I think it does allow you to sort of take care of business and then you can spend the time with these little labors of love, which I’ve learned sometimes you have to create for yourself.?

Fart jokes?! Aniston is totally moving in on Jennifer Lawrence?s territory. I actually think this is a real possibility ? Aniston sees how J-Law is considered the newest (Dorito-fart-covered) America?s Sweetheart and Aniston?s like, ?Damn, I need to get in on that.? Because while Jennifer is known for comedy, I really don?t associate her with bathroom humor. She hasn?t done that much of it, really?
Oh, and this week, Aniston did a joint GMA interview with Jason Bateman. Bateman brings out the best in her ? they?re funny together (it?s mostly him) but she just seems very loose around him. Also: that hairstyle is awful! It ages her. As does that blouse.
Last thing ? Jennifer, Jason Bateman and Dustin Hoffman are all going to be on Graham Norton this weekend. Here in America, we won?t get it on BBC America until next weekend though.

Is anyone really looking forward to seeing Horrible Bosses 2? I have my doubts, although I know some people thought the first movie was pretty funny. Still, the second one seems rather? unnecessary. The film is currently tracking at 13% on Rotten Tomatoes, and Lainey keeps calling HB2 the ?Norbit? in Jennifer Aniston?s ?Oscar campaign.? Even though Aniston is front-and-center during the HB2 promotion, if the film does badly or it?s just a critical failure, I doubt she?ll have to wear it.
Anyway, these are some photos from last night?s LA premiere. I?m only including a couple of photos of Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Chris Pine, just because? I don?t know. They?re not very fashiony. I could write some lengthy diatribe about Pine?s hair (IT IS AWFUL) but that won?t solve anything!
Jennifer wore this black-and-white Zuhair Murad and some surprisingly good Louboutins. Her dangly diamond earrings are Jennifer Meyer (Tobey Maguire?s wife and go-to jewelry designer for Aniston and her friends). As for the Murad? I really don?t like it. This isn?t one of those situations where it would look better on a different woman either. This is just a crappy, dated, ill-fitting mess of a dress. The top part is 1980s bachelorette party and the bottom half is 1980s prom (mullet skirt!!!). And to top it off, her teased ponytail looks? interesting, let?s say. Jennifer is like Duchess Kate: we have to praise her on those rare occasions when she wears her hair back, so let?s just be happy it?s not flying around in her face.

As we discussed yesterday, Jennifer Aniston had a small screening for her ?Oscar hopeful? film, Cake, on Sunday in NYC. As I?ve said before, I half-admire Jennifer?s hustle for Cake. I’ve written “Oscar hopeful” in front of Cake so many times, I’m almost starting to believe it! She?s really going out of her way to rustle up some ?buzz? for her performance. The problem is that she?s the only one who thinks she should get an Oscar nomination. No studio wanted to buy Cake and no one wanted to distribute it, which is why Jennifer is basically paying for her Oscar campaign out of pocket. So it?s less an Oscar campaign and more of exercise in LOOK AT ME, I DID A SERIOUS MOVIE. OSCAR BUZZ OSCAR BUZZ. Thankfully, some media outlets are willing to play along:
Sure, Jennifer Aniston stripped down for her latest role ? but it’s her dramatic turn on the big screen we’re talking about. The actress, 45, is already earning Oscar buzz for her turn in Cake, in which she plays a mourner suffering chronic pain.
“It was a just a wonderfully beautiful story of a woman in extraordinary pain, living through an unthinkable trauma,” Aniston told PEOPLE at InStyle and The Cinema Society’s Sunday premiere of the indie film in New York City.
And while her character is battling demons, “I also found her quite humorous and quite endearing,” says Aniston. “You have empathy for the character.”
The Friends alum says she was ready for the role’s change of pace from her presumed persona ? not that it was easy.
“That was a challenge for me. How do we tell this story without having everyone hate her?” Aniston says. “I actually loved her. But the movie has a beautiful way of unfolding itself without giving the story away and allowing the audience to go with the journey as it’s being told.”
As for the early awards season whispers? Aniston is surprised, saying (with a laugh) she’s “flattered” and that she reacts to the buzz “awkwardly and stutteringly.”
The actress later celebrated the film at a Grey Goose-sponsored fte at Jimmy at The James New York, where fianc Justin Theroux joined her.
“It ticked all the boxes that an actor dreams of,” Aniston added to reporters of the role.

Her talking points have gotten better, haven?t they? I?m glad she?s not still using that ?it was so dreamy and empowering to go without makeup? line. Let?s see, what else? She spoke to E! about her research for the role, blah. They also asked her about her Thanksgiving plans and she said: ?Family tradition, the dinner?turkey dinner. Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family. I used to bring the spanakopita and the dolmades, but I’m not doing that. My grandmother’s recipe takes me about seven hours.” There?s not much of a Greek community where I live, so I had no idea what those words meant. It turns out spanakopita is a savory pastry with feta cheese (GROSS) and spinach. Dolmades are something something stuffed in olive leaves. It does sound super-complicated now that I?m looking at the recipes. I had no idea that Jennifer actually knows how to make traditional Greek food. I assumed she would be the one to just bring a bottle of Bombay Sapphire to the gathering and call it a day.

Jennifer Aniston took on an uncharacteristically unglamorous role in her new movie Cake, challenging herself to play a woman trying to find some relief from the chronic pain caused by an accident that also left her with large scars on her face and leg. Offscreen, she took on additional challenges by executive producing the indie through the Echo Films banner she runs with producing partner Kristin Hahn.

Here are some photos of Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux going into the Chiltern Firehouse, the new London hotspot this year. Jennifer didn?t let Justin walk the carpet with her or even walk the Horrible Bosses 2 carpet at all, but she did let him walk behind her to the after-party. She?s so funny. Anyway, while Jennifer was in London, she did some press for HB2, obviously. My favorite quote is from the red carpet of HB2, which is where Jennifer was asked about the ?Oscar buzz? surrounding her role in Cake. Mind you, the Oscar buzz is bought and paid for by Jennifer and her team, just like she?s basically distributing the film herself because no one wanted it. Jennifer told Radio Times that her manufactured Oscar buzz is amazing:
?You can?t help but listen to it. It?s very humbling, it?s very flattering. It makes you jitter from the inside out. It?s a lot of things but mainly I?m just happy that people are receiving the film. That makes me very happy ? we?re very proud of it.”

As for Justin and Jennifer and their amazing, otherworldly love, Jennifer told LOOK Mag that they go on picnic dates? to graveyards. Because they are 13-year-old goth children. Some assorted quotes:
Jennifer on how they spice up their romance: ”To be honest, we’re like, ‘Oh baby, how was your day? Man it’s good, let’s take a romantic picnic to the cemetery. Justin is probably one of the funniest human beings that I’ve ever encountered, so I have the great fortune to laugh a lot. So I think that yeah, we don’t actually take it home, but he does act beautifully on film and, like I say, we get to laugh a lot.?
On the obsession with her personal life: ”I can’t really explain why there seems to be this obsession when it comes to my personal life and the constant reports about me being pregnant. ‘I just try to pay as little attention as I can and live my life. Things will happen at the right time. It’s all about living your life and not being distracted by anything that’s being said about you. You need to enjoy everything that’s good and be grateful to have found each other.”
Why she gained a little weight: “For the last year and a half I went from being a crazy workout girl to sort of saying, ‘My body wants a little break.’ The only downside to that of course is that there’s that couple of extra pounds and 4,000 pregnancy rumours too, but you know, other than that, it all feels great.”
Maintaining her looks: “I don’t really have any special regimen as such. I think I’m blessed with good genes, which kind of helps. Whenever I look at my dad I kind of marvel at how he has hardly any wrinkles and he’s now 81, so I’m sure I’ve benefited from that and my Greek heritage. One thing I do on a daily basis is drink a lot of water, practise yoga and eat very healthily.”

Sigh? what would she have to talk about if not for those million pregnancy rumors, some of which her publicist started? Well, I?d certainly like to hear more about the dates at the cemetery. My opinion of JustJen?s relationship ? based on these quotes and her Bazaar interview ? is that Jennifer thinks Justin is, like, the most brilliant and interesting man she?s ever met. If that?s the case? well, at least she?s into him.
PS? I really like her glasses and I like the way she looks with glasses. She should wear them out in public more often!
