The Hollywood Reporter released their cover story on Jennifer Aniston, and good lord? who knew that there was still stuff to learn about Jennifer? Who knew that we would still have to get in some quotes about babies, Justin, Brad and her mother at this point? Perhaps I?m dating myself (I?m so old), but this THR piece reminded me so strongly of her 2005 Vanity Fair interview. Like, Jennifer was about to cry throughout the interview or scream at the ocean. I wouldn?t go so far as to say she?s a depressive (she?s not), but I do think she wallows in the bad stuff. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
The divorce from Brad Pitt: “We’re not in daily communication. But we wish nothing but wonderful things for each other. Nobody did anything wrong. You know what I mean? It was just like, sometimes things [happen]. If the world only could just stop with the stupid, soap-opera bullsh-t. There’s no story. I mean, at this point it’s starting to become ? please, give more credit to these human beings.”
On her wedding plans with Justin: “We don’t have a date. I wouldn’t tell you if we did.”
The possibility of kids: “Listen, that’s a topic that’s so exhausted. I get nervous around that, just because it’s very personal. Who knows if it’s going to happen? It’s been a want. We’re doing our best.”
Learning to deal with anger: “I always thought, if you’re angry you just don’t say anything. I would come out passive, things would come out passively. But it doesn’t have to be black or white. You don’t have to be a hysterical human being and have veins popping out of your neck and turn bright red and terrify people ? or else keep quiet and put your head in the sand. I used to loathe confrontation. Loathe it. It was absolute. I understood anger, but I didn’t know that you should express it. Which has been something that I’ve really tried to work on.”
She loves the Dalai Lama: “But I’d love to meet him. From the things I’ve read about him, books and lectures, he seems like pure joy, pure, pure, pure enlightenment.”
Her heroes beyond the Dalai Lama: “They’re all dead now,” she observes wistfully, before citing Laurence Olivier, who died in 1989: “Honestly, I was obsessed [with him] when I was a kid. I just remember being so enamored of him. I remember thinking, ‘Maybe someday, if I become an actress, I’ll be able to work with him.’ And I remember the day he died, crying my eyes out.”
What drew her to Justin: “It was his humor, mainly. He’s the easiest guy to hang around. He was so completely in his skin. It was the first time I remember being so comfortable [with a romantic interest], like with all my gay friends.”
She watches some bad TV: “And then there’s junk television,” she says, smiling, noting she’s hooked on The Bachelor. “I’ll say it out loud. Last year, [friends] were saying, ‘It’s The Bachelor, it’s premiering tonight! The Bachelor is premiering tonight!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, guys! Seriously? The Bachelor? That’s been on for 15 years or something.’ And Justin and I, just for fun, watched ? and two hours later, we were addicted. It was like junk food. We were sad when it ended.”
Being diagnosed with dyslexia in her early 20s: “The only reason I knew [that I had it] was because I went to get a prescription for glasses. I had to wear these Buddy Holly glasses. One had a blue lens and one had a red lens. And I had to read a paragraph, and they gave me a quiz, gave me 10 questions based on what I’d just read, and I think I got three right. Then they put a computer on my eyes, showing where my eyes went when I read. My eyes would jump four words and go back two words, and I also had a little bit of a lazy eye, like a crossed eye, which they always have to correct in photos.” The revelation that she had dyslexia was life-changing. Until then, “I thought I wasn’t smart. I just couldn’t retain anything,” she says. “Now I had this great discovery. I felt like all of my childhood trauma-dies, tragedies, dramas were explained.”
Her mother: “She was critical. She was very critical of me. Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning. I wasn’t. I never was. I honestly still don’t think of myself in that sort of light, which is fine. She was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty.” Aniston herself claims to hold no grudges and is forgiving “probably to a fault.?
Her future: “There’s something bigger I’m interested in doing. It could be more work, it could be more creativity, or getting more philanthropic in the world. It can look like a baby. It can look like a foundation. I know I have a bigger purpose. It’s a puzzle, and I haven’t quite put the puzzle together. But something greater is calling out to me.”
[From The Hollywood Reporter]
Am I hallucinating or does this not remind you of her VF piece a decade ago? Anyway, there?s a lot more in the interview, but I ran out of space. She talks a lot about physical pain, dealing with a pinched nerve, CAKE, anger, all of that stuff. Honestly, the thing that stuck out to me is her description of her mother and Aniston?s lack of self-awareness when it comes to how she actually is like her mom. We never want to admit that, do we? Daughters never want to admit that they?re like their mothers. We think we?re doing everything so differently, then WHAM, you?re the same angry, grudge-holding, unforgiving piece of work.

Jennifer Aniston scored the new cover of The Hollywood Reporter. THR hasn?t released anything, but I imagine we?ll be talking about this interview in the days to come. The headline ? ?Jennifer Is Just Fine? ? makes me think that this interview was conducted just after she became the #1 Oscar Snub of the 2015 awards season. But that would be a very quick turn-around for an interview, right? The cover promises: ?Unafraid to talk about anything, Aniston opens up about everything – her struggles with anger, her dyslexia, that Oscar snub – as she enters a period of intense midlife contemplation (don’t worry, it’s not a crisis): ?I know I have a bigger purpose.?? What does it all mean?! Her struggles with anger, her bigger purpose? Huh.
Meanwhile, Jennifer is still making the rounds. I imagine these were all the outlets she scheduled when she thought she was going to be an Oscar nominee. She appeared on Good Morning America this morning (we?ll probably cover that interview tomorrow) and she gave a lengthy interview to E! News. They ended up talking about whether Jennifer and Justin Theroux would elope, and whether Aniston can actually bake a #CAKE.
It’s the question Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux just can’t escape: When are you two getting married?! While the couple has kept their big day a secret for quite some time, the most recent reports say the two are planning to “just do it.” So does this mean Hollywood’s A-list couple could be thinking of eloping?
“Sometimes, it means just go ahead and just do it,” Aniston told E! News when asked to clarify the reports. “That might bum a lot of people out if we did that, especially his mom.”
Putting wedding planning aside, Aniston is focused on the release of Cake that finally comes out nationwide on Friday. Weren’t you curious if Aniston can actually make a tasty cake?
“No I don’t bake. I make a great carbonara. It’s really, really good,” she gushed to E! News. “And then I can also do spanakopita, but it takes me about five hours. I do it the way my grandmother taught me.”
So it’s safe to say Theroux is the star in the kitchen? You bet!
“He’s a great cook. Breakfast? He does huevos rancheros that are divine. That was actually yesterday’s breakfast. He really goes to town,” she explained. “Anything he commits himself to, he?knocks it out of the park.”
[From E! News]
She can cook a complicated Greek dish but she can?t learn how to bake a cake? I mean, I could bake a cake if you let me follow a recipe, and I?m really not a great baker at all. Granted, I think Jennifer employs a full or part-time chef, doesn?t she? If I could afford a full-time chef, I wouldn?t know how to cook or bake anything either. As for Justin?s mother? I didn?t even know Justin had a mother. This is literally the first time I?ve ever heard any reference to Mother Eyebrow. Huh.

At first, entertainment journalists claimed that Jennifer Aniston had pulled out of her media engagements following her ?snub? at the Oscar nominations announcement. But then Jennifer rallied ? she spoke to the press at the Critics Choice on Thursday night, then she did a day of press on Friday, and on Monday, she appeared on The Ellen Show. Ellen DeGeneres knows better than to toss an Angelina Jolie question at Jennifer, so there were no references made to Jennifer?s comment on Friday that the Uncool Bermuda Triangle is some ?tired and petty BS? and everyone needs to get over it. Jennifer did talk to Ellen about being the ?number one snubbed? and how she loves Kate Hudson?s butt. You can see the video here.
Too hot to not handle! Jennifer Aniston made headlines last week when she grabbed the butt of longtime pal Kate Hudson just before the Golden Globes outside The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
“Well, my gosh, look at that ass,” Aniston, 45, said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, Jan. 19, when Ellen DeGeneres showed the photo of the actress grasping her friend’s rear. “It’s such an irresistible tush.”
“I’m allowed!” Aniston added. “Ryan Seacrest tried to get in. Kate actually did say, ‘Oh well, that’s gonna go everywhere.’” The handsy moment took place on the red carpet as both women gabbed with Seacrest during E!’s preshow. Aniston was up for Best Actress in a Drama at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, losing to Julianne Moore, who was honored for Still Alice.
The Friends alum, who was also nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for her work in the upcoming drama about chronic pain, Cake, was snubbed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just days later, when the nominees for the 2015 Oscars were announced.
“I’m the number one snubbed!” Aniston lamented on The Ellen DeGeneres Show of the buzzed-about diss. “That’s the silver lining, right?”
“It hasn’t even come out,” she continued of her film, which is scheduled to hit theaters later this month. “That’s the crazy thing! We’re so shocked and amazed that we have had this much love for a movie that hasn’t even been released yet.”
While Aniston has been narrowly missing awards for her part in Cake, the star said she has been celebrated for the film in different ways.
“What’s been so incredible is the amount of people that have come out to me who are suffering with chronic pain and in this same situation,” she spilled to DeGeneres. Aniston stars in Cake as a woman who is treating her chronic pain with a variety of medications and loses a member of her support group when the fellow sufferer commits suicide. “It’s unbelievable how much positivity it’s bringing to those who are kind of silently suffering. It’s a beautiful, hopeful movie.”
[From Us Weekly]
I know she?s being a good sport and she?s being surprisingly Zen about all of this, and we should just really let her have it? BUT, I kind of think Ava DuVernay is the #1 Snub of the Oscar nominations. David Oyelowo is up there too. But, as I said, maybe we should just give this one to Jennifer. After all, people were really, really surprised that she didn?t get nominated, especially after she spent so much money trying to get that nomination. That?s another question I think a lot of us have: does her Oscar consultant do refunds if the campaign fails?

Obviously, a lot of people are still talking about Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston attending the Critics Choice Awards on Thursday night. It was the first time (apparently?) that they?d been in the same room since the 2009 Oscars. And it came literally ten years after Brad Pitt and Jennifer announced their split. And we?re still talking about it, of course. Gossip of the decade! On Friday, I read this epic story at Us Weekly about how Angelina and Jennifer carefully avoided each other the whole night at the Critics Choice. Event organizers put their tables far apart, and neither ventured into the other one?s ?section?. You can read the Us Weekly piece here.
I?m not surprised that Jennifer and Angelina carefully avoided each other, just because both women seem to have some clear feelings about each other, even after all this time. But! Jennifer told Entertainment Tonight on Friday that she?s really tired of the Jen vs Angie debate at this point. This is what she said to ET:
“It?s just tiresome and old. It’s like an old leather shoe. Let’s buy a new pair of shiny shoes. I think that’s slowly coming to an end. I really do. I mean, that movie is so beautiful and wonderful and she did such a gorgeous job. I think that it’s time people stop with that petty B.S. and just start celebrating great work and stop with the petty kind of silliness.”
[From Entertainment Tonight]
You can see the video clip here at ET. I think this is an interesting olive branch offer from Jennifer. I?d like to believe she?s sincere. But I?ll believe it when she calls off Chelsea Handler, you know? Even though I think Jennifer was the architect of the ?Jen vs Angelina? stories in the first few years, I do think the storyline sort of got away from her and she really didn?t expect to STILL be answering these questions ten years later. Also: Jennifer saw Unbroken? Huh.
Here?s something else interesting: I didn?t know Jennifer would doing press on Friday. According to the Los Angeles Times’ Gold Derby editor Tom O?Neil, Jennifer had rented out some rooms at the Four Seasons to do a one-woman ?junket? following the Oscar nominations announcement. O’Neil said that when Aniston missed out on a nomination, she canceled the junket at the last minute. Or did she? It seems like she kept part of her schedule, right? In addition to ET, she also spoke to HuffPo about being snubbed for an Oscar nom ? go here to read. She said she got lots of messages from shocked friends and ?I found it quite endearing and flattering that I had so many people rooting for me. It was almost just as good to be No. 1 snubbed than to be nominated.? Okay. Well, I like that she kept part of press schedule. That shows her professionalism.

Here is Jennifer Aniston arriving at the Critics Choice Awards in the Gucci suit that emphasised her pert cleavage.
Fresh off her Oscar exclusion, She showed up at Critics? Choice last night in a marsala pantsuit and body chain. A body chain? Sounds about right for a girl who wears toe rings.

According to my sources, the 20th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards were held last night, and while normally I wouldn’t care, Hollywood’s favorite spinster Jennifer Aniston showed up. I guess now that she didn’t get nominated for an Oscar, this is what you’d call “consolation cleavage.” And if this is Jen trying to make everyone […]

It?s a tale as old as time: whenever Jennifer Aniston is having a bad day, or trying to one-up her mortal enemy, she takes her clothes off or exhibits her body in some way. And yesterday was one of Jennifer Aniston?s worst days ever, so obviously she had to get her girls out for the Critics Choice Awards. Aniston brought The Eyebrow Formerly Known As Justin Theroux and she forgot her bra. Can I just say? I?ve always liked Aniston?s body ? I mean, she works hard on it, but beyond that, I?ve always liked that she?s happy with her smaller, perky girls. But I think it?s past time for her to put a bra on her girls. Just sayin?.
As for the suit look in general? it?s Gucci. I don?t know. I?m a fan of great pantsuits on women, really and truly. And since it?s the Critics Choice (a relatively minor affair in the grand scheme of awards shows), I?m actually surprised more ladies didn?t go with suits. But is this the best example of what?s going on in high-fashion pantsuits these days? The color is too muddy (in my opinion) and it makes the whole thing look dated. The length of the jacket and the general cut of the suit makes me think that this was intended for someone tall and leggy, and Jennifer thought she would look tall and leggy in it? but she doesn?t. Anyway? yeah, not really her best effort, in my opinion. It?s not hands-down awful or anything, I just think she could have done a suit look SO MUCH better, because she has in the past.
Jennifer lost the Best Actress Award to Julianne Moore, because that?s just the way it goes, people. Even if Jennifer had been nominated for an Oscar, she still would have been losing everything to Julianne.
PS? I love that Jennifer isn?t pretending to give a crap about pulling her hair back for OSCAR anymore. She didn?t get nominated, thus her hair is back in her face.

Ignoring her Oscar snub, Jennifer Aniston arrived to the Hollywood Palladium for the 20th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards this evening (January 15) with fiance Justin Theroux.
The ?Cake? babe and the "Leftovers" star were in fine form as they did a little posing while rubbing shoulders with her fellow celebrity attendees.
This year, Michael Strahan will handle the hosting duties and there?s no shortage of worthy contenders on the nominees list. Strahan told press, ?I am excited to host a night honoring some of the most talented people in the industry. The Critics? Choice Awards show paves the way for the upcoming awards season, and the best part is that the winners are selected by the very people who make a living watching and reviewing films. It doesn?t get much more competitive than that.?

Remember about a month ago, when Angelina Jolie had a really terrible week? The Sony Hack blew up and everyone found out that Scott Rudin called her a minimally talented spoiled brat. Angelina got chicken pox, and Unbroken was majorly snubbed at the Golden Globes? Angelina weathered that storm because this too shall pass. And now it?s time to pass on that message to Jennifer Aniston, because she?s having a bad week. She lost the Golden Globe for Best Actress. Her Globes dress was boring. Her Cake premiere dress was awful. And today, she?s going to have the sinking realization that she spent easily more than a million dollars trying to score an Oscar nomination and she failed miserably.
And now this: remember how Jennifer Aniston mentioned her first great love in her NYT interview? The guy passed away in 2007, and some people were uncomfortable with the way Aniston spoke about a dead man who had completely moved on and married someone else in the years that followed their breakup. They had two children together, and his wife was with him until the bitter end. And now his widow wrote a Facebook post slamming Aniston. The guy?s name was Daniel McDonald and his widow is Mujah Maraini-Melehi. Here?s what she wrote:
In light of what?s been happening around the world, this may seem like a very trivial and superficial post. This past 24 hours have been very difficult for me?.. I am very upset that the media is exploiting Daniel?s memory in connection to Jennifer Aniston. What is precious shines in our hearts and should not be splayed for everyone?s consumption in the media this way.
Why now? I wonder. After decades of stardom, she is media savvy enough to know that any casual comment she makes becomes front page tabloid news. Jennifer Aniston is Jennifer Aniston, and that means that anything that she says about her love life to any journalist, even someone as reputable as New York Times? Frank Bruni, will be later dissected and exploited.
My heart aches to see our tragedy of losing Daniel to serve the media?s hunger for sensationalism. I remember how journalists often called our home to ask Daniel for information about Jennifer, and being the gentleman that he was, he would always decline to comment on anything at all. I imagine he would be appalled to be caught up in this media circus, especially after he had found Love and built a family of his own.
His love is part of our fabric — part of me , part of Fosco, part of Ondina. Please respect our love and especially our Loss. The children lost their father. I lost my partner. I am sorry that Jennifer did not realize the treasure that was Daniel when she had the chance, long before he and I met and long before he died. It pains me to read the headlines that allude to her losing him tragically when she was not present during his long and difficult illness.
That said perhaps Daniel?s gift was to teach her how to love and appreciate Justin Theroux. I know how much Daniel cared about her, and how protective he was of her. That was part of what I loved about him. I find it very hard to believe that she may not have married Brad Pitt had Daniel and I not married months before as some unnamed ?sources? declared to the Daily mail on line. After Daniel died, I reached out to her to give her back all the photographs from the time they were together. I never got an answer back from her.
Please ignore the gossip and remember what is essential; the music in Daniel?s heart lingers on in us, in his dear friends, his mother Pat, his siblings who miss him every day, his cousins, his nieces and nephews, his colleagues, his fans, his children, and me.
[From Facebook via The Daily Mail]
The Daily Mail has a few more details about Jennifer and Daniel?s relationship ? it was when Jennifer was in her early 20s and living in NYC, before she moved to LA to do Friends. Daniel stayed in NYC and Jennifer quickly moved on with Tate Donovan. After Tate, she dated other dudes and then she met and married Brad Pitt. After Brad, there was Vince Vaughn, that weird British model guy (he always seemed like a rent-a-date), John Mayer, John Mayer again, random non-celebrities, and then Justin Theroux. And out of all of those guys, Jennifer chose to talk about the dead guy who left a widow and two children? So? yeah. Aniston is having a terrible day. She?s going to have to smoke so much pot to relax today.

| Jennifer Aniston in Giambattista Valli at the LA 'Cake' premiere: too cutesy or fine' | Added 9 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Let the Cake wash over you. Just lay back and accept it. Here are some photos of Jennifer Aniston and Chris Messina at last night?s LA premiere of CAKE. Jennifer wore a Giambattista Valli dress (it looks like a two-piece, but I guess it?s a dress), Louboutins and Jennifer Meyer jewelry. Jennifer?s been doing a lot of ponytails and updos for her Oscar campaign, hasn?t she? I don?t mind it. I get tired of the hair-in-the-face look, so high-fashion ponytails are a welcome reprieve. As for her Valli look? I?m not a fan. It?s way too cutesy. But it?s nice that Cake is finally getting a real premiere, I guess.
As you can imagine, Jennifer is probably a ball of nerves right now, as we speak. The Oscar nominations come out this morning ? the first round will start at 8:30, then all of the big awards will be announced at 8:38 am (EST). We?ll have the nominations up shortly after that, so no threadjacking, mmkay? Jennifer has spent a lot of money ? probably her own? ? to get an Oscar nomination and many believe it?s going to happen for her. But at last night?s premiere, she was playing coy. She told E! News that she wouldn?t watch the announcements. She said: ?I’ll be in bed. I’ll be in bed with my beloved and my dogs dreaming wild little dreams. I’m not going to torture myself. My phone rang yesterday at five o’clock in the morning and I was like, ?What’s happening? Who’s dead or b, is today Thursday?’” Do you believe her? After shelling out that much money to get a nomination, don?t you think she?ll be up, doing a wake & bake and watching?
If you?re online at 8:30, you can see the live stream of the Oscar nominations here.
