| Naomi Campbell in Venice with her Russian: is his divorce ever going to happen? | Added 14 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

I was just looking through these new photos of Naomi Campbell and her boyfriend/fianc at the Venice Film Festival, and I had several questions. First of all, why would Naomi wear such a hideously dated look? This dress looks like it came from the section of her closet labeled ?1991?. Second question: If you?re a designer who is going for ?sleek? and ?horizontal stripes,? why not just do that for the whole dress? Why ?jazz it up? with some trashy fringe at the bottom? Third question: Is Naomi wearing toeless fishnets?!? Fourth question: what?s up with her weave? It?s looking particularly thick, and I can?t make out any bald spots.
My next series of questions are about Vladimir/Vlasislav Doronin, the Russian beefcake in the photos, and Naomi?s boyfriend/fianc. First: is that absolutely enormous emerald (cabochon?) ring her engagement ring? Allegedly, it is. Here?s a closer look:
Now, for the real questions about Naomi and Vladimir/Vladislav. Is his ?divorce? ever going to come through? You know he?s still technically married to a nice Russian girl and they have kids together, and he told Oprah (OPRAH!) that he and Naomi were totally getting married and that he and his wife were totally getting a divorce. Nothing seems to be happening, though. From what I can find, the Russian sources are still very ?meh? about this story - perhaps international homewrecking isn?t as juicy a tabloid story for the Russian media? I did find this recent article from The Moscow Times - it?s mainly about Russian model Natalia Vodianova and how she and her British aristocrat husband are maybe about to split (they have three kids together!). The Moscow Times compares the Russian tabloid reporting of a possible split to Russian tabloid reporting that Naomi and Dornin will ever get married. Which is to say ?unlikely.? Now, the divorce could be held up because they?re still negotiating some kind of settlement - after all, most sources have him listed as a ?billionaire.?
My final question: can you imagine the international hissy fit that Naomi will have if Dornin doesn?t ever get around to getting a divorce? Oh, it will be epic. There will be no un-thrown phones from New York to Moscow. They will have to sic Interpol on her ass. There will be an international task force of elite crime fighters tasked to take her down.

Making the most of her time overseas, Naomi Campbell was spotted out in Sardegna, Italy yesterday afternoon (August 23).
Joined by British Royal Sarah Ferguson, the drama-inclined supermodel made her arrival at the Hotel Cala de Volpe, showing the shutterbugs a shot of her backside sans undies at one point during the day.
The sighting comes as Ms. Campbell is currently in trouble with the IRS, as she?s now under a tax lien to the tune of $63,000 in back taxes.
Of course, Naomi hasn?t commented on the situation but rather has been enjoying an extended European holiday with the likes of Quincy Jones, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z.

| Naomi Campbell: I had 'no motive' to lie about the blood diamonds | Added 14 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Little Miss ?This War Crimes Tribunal Is Such an Inconvenience? Naomi Campbell is trying to play the media following her disastrous testimony at Charles Taylor?s war crimes trial at The Hague last week. Many - including me - pointed out the contradictions in Naomi Campbell?s testimony, and the controversy was further fueled this week when Mia Farrow testified and basically discredited several key parts of Naomi?s story as to how she came to possess several blood diamonds. Also making an appearance was Carole White, Naomi?s former manager, who is currently suing Naomi for being a C-U-Next-Tuesday. Anyway, long story short, Naomi released a statement on Wednesday where she?s basically trying to act like she?s eating sh-t, but really she?s just being a lying bitch. Same old, same old.
Naomi Campbell, the model, says she has “nothing to gain” from lying during her evidence to the war crimes trial of Charles Taylor, the former Liberian leader.
Miss Campbell, who could face charges for possessing “illegal” uncut diamonds which she later handed over to the head of one of former South African leader Nelson Mandela’s charities, said she had “no motive”.
“I am a black woman who has and will always support good causes especially relating to Africa.”
She added: “I’ve never taken any of the jobs offered to me, over my 25 years as a model, from companies that were for apartheid in South Africa.”
A statement from her spokesman later said Miss Campbell was a “long time supporter of charity work in Africa” and had helped raise “considerable sums”.
The model’s role in the affair is being examined along with all those who came into contact with the three uncut diamonds which are now in police custody.
Possession of an uncut diamond is a criminal offence in South Africa with penalties ranging from a hefty fine to ten years imprisonment for repeat offenders.
Campbell gave evidence at the war crimes tribunal of former Liberian leader Charles Taylor last week in which she said she was given the “dirty-looking pebbles” by two men who knocked on her door in the middle of the night following a dinner in Pretoria hosted by Mr Mandela.
She said she did not know where the stones came from, but handed them to Jeremy Ractliffe, the then head of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, the following day suggesting he “make sure children benefit from them”.
He has since admitted that he had kept the diamonds ? which he suspected might be illegal ? hidden in a safe ever since to protect the reputations of Campbell and Mr Mandela.
The prosecution in Mr Taylor’s war crimes tribunal at The Hague allege that the diamonds given to Campbell came from the Liberian leader and were “blood diamonds”, which he traded to fund a brutal war carried out by insurgents in Liberia’s neighbouring Sierra Leone. They suspect that when he attended the dinner with Campbell on September 25, 1997, he was in South Africa to arrange an arms shipment, in return for diamonds, that arrived to fuel the Sierra Leone conflict in October 1997, just days later.
Musa Zondi, the spokesman for South Africa’s elite Hawks criminal investigation unit which collected the diamonds from Mr Ractliffe’s home last week, said detectives were looking at all those who came into contact with the uncut diamonds, including Campbell, and would seek to question all parties involved.
He said that tests on the diamonds had failed to confirm whether they were, as is suspected, from Sierra Leone and police would now seek to establish their origin through its own investigations. Police are also expected to look at whether the parties who had contact with the diamonds knew that possessing them was illegal when considering possible charges.
“We are investigating an offence and who might have committed it,” he said. “We need all the facts and can’t make the determination without them. The decision on who to prosecute, that’s the job of the prosecuting authority. All we can do is to get all the facts and offer our conclusion.”
Giving evidence at The Hague yesterday, Campbell’s former agent Carole White said she stood by her evidence that she heard Mr Taylor tell the 40-year-old model that he would give her a gift of diamonds after the two spent the evening flirting.
She was challenged by Mr Taylor’s defence lawyer Courtenay Griffiths QC that she had made up the allegation that Campbell had accepted diamonds knowing they were from Mr Taylor because of a lawsuit involving the model over a broken perfume promotion contract that had been worth 2 million over the last decade.
“Your account is a complete pack of lies. You made it up in order to assist in your lawsuit against Miss Campbell. Put bluntly, for you this is all about money,” Mr Griffiths told Miss White, the founder of the London-based Premier model agency.
“It has absolutely nothing to do with my business argument with Naomi Campbell. This not about money this is about a very serious matter,” she replied.
Mr Taylor, Liberia’s former president, is the first African leader to face a war crimes trial, and indicted with 11 charges including murder, rape and sexual slavery ? all of which he denies. The case continues.
[From The Telegraph]
The question of why Naomi is lying has bothered me as well. I think she?s just gotten so used to lying about her actions (?No, I did not hit her in the face with my phone.?) that she?s just in the groove of it. She didn?t want to testify at the trial, and she didn?t want to disrupt her life for anything not involving beach holidays and assaulting peasants. Basically, she lied because she could, because she?s an entitled bitch.
As for Naomi?s previous testimony, on the record, that her appearance was inconvenient for her - her exact words: ?Well, I didn?t really want to be here. I was made to be here. So, obviously I?m just like wanting to get this over with and get on with my life. This is a big inconvenience for me.? So her ?advisors? released this statement yesterday: ?Campbell accepts the use of the word ?inconvenient? was a poor choice but it was made off the cuff and taken massively out of context. It was in relation to a nonsensical question as to whether or not she was nervous appearing in court. Campbell had explained that she had fears for her family having read about Taylor?s alleged crimes on the internet, hence her initial reticence in appearing.? Oh, those poor advisors. They couldn?t even convince Naomi to explain her wording herself! That?s bad.

She testified that she had no idea she received a gift from former Liberian President Charles Taylor when two men showed up at her door back in 1997 and handed her ?dirty looking stones,? but Naomi Campbell may be lying.
Earlier this week, Mia Farrow testified that Campbell bragged about getting the blood diamonds from Taylor the very next day, and was aware of the implications.
Now, Naomi is in danger of facing charges including possessing illegal uncut diamonds in South Africa as well as lying under oath at The Hague.
In a statement, Campbell said, "she was not on trial in The Hague and was as helpful toward the court as she could be."

She initially tried to avoid testifying in the UN war crimes tribunal against Charles Taylor, a former ruler of Liberia, but in the end Naomi Campbell wasn?t left with much of a choice.
The 40-year-old supermodel took the stand today in the Netherlands court to talk about the blood diamonds she was given by Taylor back in 1997.
Naomi explained, "I had never heard of Charles Taylor before. I had never heard of the country Liberia before. I had never the term 'blood diamonds' before ? This is someone who, I read on the Internet, has killed thousands of people. I don't want my family endangered in any way."
Nevertheless, Campbell would have been imprisoned for 7 years had she refused to testify. Of the night she received the diamonds, Naomi said two men came to her hotel room and knocked at the door.
"They said, 'A gift for you,' and then gave me a pouch ? I took it, said, 'Thank you,' and closed the door. There was no explanation, no note. When they gave me the pouch I just put it close to my bed and went back to bed. [The next morning] I opened the pouch ? I saw a few stones. They were very small, dirty-looking stones."

Today, Naomi Campbell finally had to testify in open court at Charles Taylor?s war crimes tribunal at The Hague. Previously, Naomi Campbell had tried to get out of testifying, telling Oprah that she feared for her safety, and throwing a hissy fit when an ABC News team dared to ask her about potentially being a witness to Taylor?s possession of Liberian blood diamonds. It?s funny to think about this now, but this whole thing started because Mia Farrow ?outed? Naomi as receiving blood diamonds in 1997 - Farrow even claimed that Naomi had ?bragged? about receiving uncut diamonds from Charles Taylor when they were both at a dinner for Nelson Mandela. Naomi?s latest diva fit was to demand special concessions for her testimony at the tribunal - she didn?t want to be photographed entering or leaving the court, a right she was given, although oddly enough, her actual testimony was recorded live on a 30-minute delay:
Throughout her testimony, Naomi admits several pieces of information that she had heretofore out-right denied or flat-out lied about. On that night in 1997, Naomi says that she had been sleeping when ?two men? knocked on her door and ?and gave me a pouch and said: ‘A gift for you.’?I opened the pouch the next morning when I woke up… I saw a few stones in there, they were very small dirty-looking stones? The next morning at breakfast I told Ms [Mia] Farrow and [her former agent Carol White] what had happened and one of the two said ‘That’s obviously Charles Taylor’, and I said ‘I guess that was’.”
Naomi denied that at the dinner for Mandela, she was seated next to Charles Taylor. Naomi claims that she was seated next to Mandela and Quincy Jones. This contradicts earlier testimony from Naomi?s ex-manager Carole White, who claimed that Naomi and Taylor were seated next to each other at the dinner, and that ?Miss Campbell and Mr Taylor were mildly flirtatious with each other throughout the dinner.? Allegedly, Charles Taylor also told Naomi that he was going to send her some diamonds, and he made arrangements to send some men with the gift. Naomi denied this conversation happened as well.
Naomi then goes on to claim that she gave away the uncut diamonds! She says she gave them to Jeremy Ratcliffe, who ran the Nelson Mandela Children?s Fund. Unfortunately for Naomi, Charles Taylor?s defense produced a letter from the Fund in which they claimed they had ?never received a diamond or diamonds from Ms Campbell or from anyone else. It would have been improper and illegal to have done so.”
Also: when asked if she was nervous, Naomi replied: “No, well, I didn’t really want to be here. I was made to be here. So, obviously I’m just like wanting to get this over with and get on with my life. This is a big inconvenience for me.” She also said she was afraid of Charles Taylor because he was ?someone I read on the internet has killed thousands of people, supposedly“.
So, what?s your verdict? I think Naomi is still lying her ass off about everything, and I love that the prosecution and even Taylor?s defense has her lies all laid out with contradictory testimony. Here?s what I think happened: Naomi and Taylor were sitting next to each other at least part of the dinner, and they struck up a conversation, and surprisingly, Naomi didn?t start beating him with a phone or a fork or anything. Instead, she smells money and so she was nice. Taylor was happy that a beautiful woman was being nice to him, so he devised a plan to give her a present - some lovely uncut diamonds that thousands of people had to die for. He sent his men to her room, Naomi took the diamonds and the next morning, she bragged about her gift to anyone who would listen. She kept them too - my guess is that she probably had them made into some piece of jewelry that she still has. Just my take. Oh, and Naomi is such a major C-U-Next-Tuesday for those quotes, “This is a big inconvenience for me” and “someone I read on the internet has killed thousands of people, supposedly.” This is a war crimes tribunal, not your hair dresser being late at a Marc Jacobs show.

Always up for a little fun in the sun, Naomi Campbell spent the Independance Day holiday at the Voile Rouge beach in St Tropez on Sunday (July 4).
Showing off her fit physique in a white bikini, the catwalk queen was accompanied by her boyfriend and some other friends including Topshop owner Sir Philip Green
The boating excursion comes shortly after Miss Campbell was called by judges to testify in the trial of ex-Liberian President Charles Taylor, who is charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
According to prosecutors, Ms Campbell received an uncut diamond from Taylor -- referred to in the media as a "blood diamond" -- at a 1997 South Africa party hosted by the country's former leader, Nelson Mandela.
Taylor has denied ever possessing the diamonds, and Campbell reportedly has "material evidence" that would refute that, prosecutors said.

She was recently subpoenaed to an Amsterdam courthouse, but, lucky for Naomi Campbell, this time it?s not about her.
The supermodel was called by judges to testify in the trial of ex-Liberian President Charles Taylor, who is charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
According to prosecutors, Ms Campbell received an uncut diamond from Taylor -- referred to in the media as a "blood diamond" -- at a 1997 South Africa party hosted by the country's former leader, Nelson Mandela.
Radar Online is reporting that Taylor has denied ever possessing the diamonds, and Campbell has "material evidence" that would refute that, prosecutors said. Campbell has been summoned to testify previously, but has yet to take the stand in the case.
Furthermore, Taylor is accused of illegally selling diamonds to pay for a civil war in nearby Sierra Leone for a ten-year span from 1992 to 2001; prosecutors requested the Netherlands court re-examine the case upon learning Taylor allegedly gave some away as gifts.
