Jennifer Garner participated in a women?s networking conference led by Marie Claire. Their story about it reveals that Garner?s baby food company, Once Upon a Child, just secured $20 million in funding, which seems high right? I must not understand business because $20 million seems like too much to sink into baby food, even one with a famous face. Garner did a panel interview where she discussed her new role on HBO?s Camping and how it plays against type for her. (Incidentally that show is getting very bad reviews with critics saying that it?s mediocre and the characters are unlikable.) She also talked about #MeToo. Remember her initial take on that? She said that ?We can?t assume every man is guilty. Due process is important.? That was after her brother-in-law was sued for sexual harassment and after a video came out of Ben sexually harassing Hilarie Burton. Well she tells Marie Claire that she is trying to work with other women as much as possible but that she?s afraid of not toeing the #metoo line. Honestly I was going to make that the title of this post but I figured it would be too controversial. It speaks to how she plays both sides. Anyway she had some interesting thoughts.
On her character in Camping being unlikable
?Do you think I can just do Miracles from Heaven forever? [Garner] started out talking about her new show, Camping, and the fact that shes playing a character some people might consider unlikeable for the first time. People had a visceral reaction to her turn as Katherine, an obsessively organized and aggressively controlling woman planning her husbands 45th birthday camping trip. To those people, Garner wants to question the status quo that lead people to think she can only be the nice girl: It?s a little bit sexist that you only want me to be the nice girl. I can be the bitch, too.
I was drawn to what a jerk Katherine is, everyone?s pain comes from somewhere and sometimes you have to look a little deeper to find where that pain comes from.
On #MeToo and how shes trying to keep up
The Alias star touched upon the culture in Hollywood in the post-#metoo era, too.Women are walking on eggshells. You want to take it for everything it?s worth and just surround yourself with the best possible women and make sure that you are fighting for and creating the most equality you can in every possible way you can. I feel very afraid of screwing up and not toeing the #metoo line.? But shes not talking about coming from a place of fear. Shes talking about amending your behaviors to hold yourself accountable. Any time there?s revolution and you feel like you?re being held to a new standard, you want to make sure you?re meeting the standard. I don?t want to let my sisters down.
On how Once Upon a Farm is personal to her
?As I was going through the process, I kept feeling like, ?who is helping the kids like the kids I grew up with, like the ones in West Virginia, who?s helping the kids like my mom who grew up poor in Oklahoma, who?s helping rural America?? And it crystalized for me over time and over having all of these meetings that I ultimately didn?t sign onto, and it made me realize that I?ve got to go with what I can speak about truly from the heart, which is poor rural America.?
[From Marie Claire]
We don?t always expect her to play the good girl, it?s like she is conveniently forgetting about Alias and then Peppermint. Still, it?s not like many people saw Peppermint. No one dragged her for signing on to that film despite its themes or for the fact that it tanked. Also, is it sexist that we see her a certain way, when she?s cultivated that image for years? Its good of her to make sure her business highlights childhood poverty and thats clearly an issue that she cares about deeply. Shes said in the past that her goal is to have the first organic W.I.C. option for babies in low income families.
Garners parked car was damaged yesterday, but it doesnt sound that serious. Paparazzi agency Backgrid had this caption with the photo below. Jennifer Garner is the first on the scene when her parked car gets hit by another car. The White Nissan that hit Jens Lexus was involved in an accident with another vehicle, and despite a narrow escape from being hit herself, a concerned Jen talks to the other people involved to make sure everyone is ok, before leaving her car and getting a ride home from a friend.

| Jennifer Garner: social media 'puts so much pressure on kids when they?re vulnerable' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
Do you remember that movie Jennifer Garner was in which was about how adults and teenagers were disconnected because of social media? It was 2014?s Men, Women and Children, written and directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Thank You For Smoking) and I?m not going to act like I watched it. I only vaguely remembered that it existed and that she?s already fielded questions about letting her children online. This is what she said about that at the time, which was eons ago in her children?s ages. At that time Violet was 8, Seraphina was 5 and Samuel 2.
I mean, we can?t keep in front of what our kids are learning or seeing or using, technology-wise. It?s happening before we can even? We?re all running to catch up, us stupid grown-ups! Thank goodness my kids are little enough that they?re far from having phones or iPads or anything.
[via article on CB]
My kid had an iPad at 8 but he was monitored and using specific apps. (He wasn?t watching those creepy YouTube videos of Elsa and Spiderman making out because they didn?t exist yet. Parents have even more to worry about now.) Anyway Garner was asked about her kids using social media now that Violet is 12. She said that they?re not on social media and that it puts a lot of pressure on kids when they?re vulnerable.
[Garner] told Fox News she?s determined to keep her children offline.
?Oh my gosh, I don?t know,? said the ?Peppermint? star. ?My kids don?t have any social media yet. And I am terrified. I think it puts so, so much pressure on kids at an age when they?re really vulnerable anyway. You know, if anyone has any clues, let me know.?
?I am probably overprotective,? admitted the actress.
On her character in Peppermint
?I think you can?t ignore the power of, the depth of a mom?s feelings,? explained Garner. ?And I think that you don?t have to be a mom to understand that.
?We?re all human, so for anyone, we all play ?The Joy of Motherhood,? ?The Beauty of Motherhood,? but to dig into the terror and the fear and the rage of motherhood was a whole new place. And that was part of what was so fun about this
?[My character is] a mom next door, just like anyone, but she absolutely gets pushed to extremes,? said Garner about North seeking justice.
[From Fox News]
Shes right and its smart of her to keep her kids away from social media, especially when theres so much information available about her family. There are a lot of pitfalls to social media and it does put pressure on kids while adding a performative aspect to their social lives. I hope her children do have supervised access to the Internet and that they?re not ?offline? as the lead-in says. The Internet helps kids connect and learn in ways we never imagined. We had the library and ?Schoolhouse Rock. Kids now have Khan Academy, Vsauce, Kurzgesagt and countless other teachers on demand. Plus they can share photos of their homework and work on it together. You can both protect your children from the bad parts of the internet while taking advantage of the best of it. I don?t expect Garner to express that kind of nuance in a quick interview, but it also doesn?t jibe with her ?Oh my gosh, I?m overprotective? persona.
It was good of Garner to add the caveat that you don?t have to be a mom to understand her character. She?s said things to the contrary before.
Shes been trying to meme herself and its working.

Jennifer Garner often shares videos and photos of herself gardening, baking and working out. That?s interesting but doesn?t resonate with me since I avoid all but one of those things and don?t have a team of fitness experts. (Can I brag that I mowed my own lawn for the first time yesterday? The guy who usually does it broke his foot. I hated it so much.) Her latest photo is kind of a genius move though, because it?s not specific to moms or to her lifestyle. She shared a picture of her arms full with stuff from the car.

Jennifer Garner Instagrammed tributes to her dad and her childrens dad, Ben Affleck, on Fathers Day. She called their kids lucky and she was vague but nice about his parenting, writing that their kids were lucky to have a dad who loves them the way you love them. It was similar to the way shes behaved throughout their separation. (And the way shes described herself behaving, through sources.)
US Magazine covered that story about Garners Fathers Day posts and they had some more insider quotes about whats happening with her. Apparently these quotes are from April, when Garner visited Affleck on location in Hawaii, but I missed them at the time. People are understandably skeptical about US following their acquisition by American Media, but remember theyre the outlet that had exclusive details from her side after Affleck slept with the nanny on their family vacation in 2015. US drops the news again that Garner is seeing a very special someone and is ready to give love another try. I wonder if she met him while she was working on Peppermint or that Camping show shes doing for HBO. I bet hes someone connected to one of those projects. Heres USs quotes:
Earlier this year, Garner visited her ex on location in Hawaii for a joint Easter celebration, however, a source told Us Weekly that the reunion was strictly for their children.
Hollywoods Most Expensive Divorces
?Jen was planning on only spending a few days in Hawaii with Ben and the kids, and then leave them with the nanny so that he could have quality time with them,? the source told Us at the time. ?Easter has always been very important to Jen and they typically go to church as a family.?
The insider added: ?A few weeks before the kids? spring break, Jen decided along with Ben that she would spend a bit more time on the island than she originally planned. This was only done because of the kids. Ben and Jen are spending no time together alone without their kids, this absolutely isn?t a romantic trip for them. Ben is very serious with Lindsay, and Jen is enjoying dating a very special someone back in Los Angeles.?
Affleck is currently dating Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus. The two went public with their relationship in July 2017. Garner, meanwhile, recently began dating again. A source told Us in March that ?Jen is ready to go with her feelings and give love another try.?
[From US Magazine]
Reviewing our past coverage, in March Garner was rumored to be dating a lawyer and she was seen out with a mystery guy in February, although outlets quickly forget about that. (Honestly I forgot about that.)
How great would it be if Garner started doing pap walks with her new man? You know hes tall, dark, handsome and much more sober than her ex. (Although thats truly not saying much.) I would like to see her premiere him right around the time Peppermint is out in September. I also think that her divorce will be finalized around that time. I picture her in my mind, smacking her hands together like shes wiping off the dirt and walking away in heels, a slight grin on her face. Look at her style lately, she has her groove back. (I swear I wrote all that before I saw these photos of Garner at Violets graduation.)
Garner just posted this video ad for her baby food line, Once Upon a Farm, which is now at Target. Im thinking that part of the deal with Target involved this kind of cross promotion on social media. She has almost two million followers and this video has received almost a million views in less than 12 hours.
When you co-found a company does that mean you can go rogue and create your own commercial? Ummmmm, apparently it does. @onceuponafarm is now @target! #meetTargetLinda #findusintheproducesection #feedfresh

| Jennifer Garner to star in and produce parent-themed movie 'Yes Day' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last fall, Jennifer Garner shared a tired-looking photo on Instagram with the news that she had just celebrated ?Yes Day? with her kids. She used a lot of hashtags to explain the concept, which involves doing whatever kids want for a day, I assume within reason. We have now reached the point where Garner?s Instagram posts are positively impacting her career, because she recently signed on to star in and co-produce a movie about ?Yes Day,? based on the 2009 children?s book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenhelp.
Jennifer Garner is attached to star and produce Yes Day, a comedy based on the concept of parents devoting one day annually to saying ?yes? to their kids? requests. The project, which is in early development, has
Beatriz at Dinner helmer Miguel Arteta attached to direct with Entertainment 360 and Grey Matter Productions producing.
Garner has made a tradition of celebrating ?Yes Day!? with her three children, sharing some fun pictures on Instagram back in September. The concept is inspired by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenhelp?s 2009 children?s book of the same name. On ?Yes Day?, kids receive only positive answers from their parents to requests such as pizza for breakfast, late bedtimes, and food fights.
[From Deadline]
Good for Garner. This is an example of her down-home mom image helping her land roles. At the same time she?s avoiding being pigeonholed as she has the action thriller Peppermint, in which she plays a grieving mom turned vigilante, coming out this September. This woman is nothing if not careful about her image and career. It?s kind of refreshing to see in the wake of her split with Ben Affleck. Doesn?t it feel like Garner has flourished while Affleck has been stuck in a holding pattern post-split? Do you think they?ll officially get divorced by this fall? I?m guessing that it will happen to coincide with her movie release.
Here are some pictures of Garner out at church Sunday in a wrap skirt and white short sleeve turtleneck. Wrap skirts usually call for tucked-in tops, which look awkward to me when I?m trying to put together an outfit. I have a wrap skirt but don?t wear it much for that reason. That said, she looks lovely and check out her shoes. Those heels are a sign that Garner has stepped out of her comfort zone.

| Jennifer Garner's kids have bee suits to help get honey: 'a living science experiment' | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

When I was a kid my dad had a small beekeeping business with his best friend on the side. They would put out beehive boxes for farmers in orchards and then collect the honey. I have vivid memories of him looking heroic in his beekeeper mask as he smoked out the bees and gave us honey to eat right off the honeycomb. Theres nothing like chewing fresh honeycomb. Thats what came to mind when Jennifer Garner talked about getting her kids involved in harvesting honey on her estate. She also farms small crops like blueberries, and raises chickens. So shes surely creating memories for her kids. Well and Good has an interview with Garner in which she discusses her family traditions, revolving around farming, beekeeping and eating whole foods. Shes promoting her company Once Upon a Farm, which offers organic baby food. As we heard in her talk with Vanity Fair, Garners mother was raised on a farm and her mothers stories of living off the land had a huge influence on her growing up. She has some nice stories here.
When life gets *busy,* are there certain moments or rituals you make sure you do with your kids every day?
There are lots of little traditions the kids and I have together. Right now our blueberry bushes are going nuts, so we sneak down and pick blueberries together on the weekends. But my most valuable time with the kids is bedtime?I have different books going with each of my kids and they each get their own time [with me], even if it has to be condensed!
I love that you like to garden and farm with your kids. How did this come about?
My mom grew up on a little farm in Oklahoma with cows, chickens, fresh veggies?you name it. Everything they ate, other than sugar and flour, they grew and raised. When I was a little girl, my mother always told me and my siblings fantastic, vivid tales of growing up on the farm during the summertime, when they would eat like kings, with fresh produce by the bunches and routine delicacies like homemade ice cream.
It?s that same enchanted love for homemade and fresh that defines how my family lives at home today. We have bee hives in our yard, my kids have their bee suits and like to get involved with it all?it?s so fun, it?s like a living science experiment. In our garden, we grow tons of fruits and vegetables and we?re so lucky to live where we live, because we can grow almost anything?we can?t stop planting new things!
Why is healthy eating so important for you and your family?
I was lucky to grow up eating garden-grown, fresh, homemade nutritious food with a mom who prepared our meals on a daily basis. I was well educated on how important of a role clean eating plays in our daily lives. It?s key for us to know exactly what we are putting into our bodies in order to feel good and alive with energy. This was my mom?s lifestyle, which she instilled in me and my sisters, and it?s what I want for my kids?and really, all kids, at the end of the day. That?s why I?m so passionate about Once Upon a Farm.
[From Well and Good]
My dad and his brother were just telling us how they used to make fresh ice cream churned on the porch as kids and now I want to try that. Good for Garner for farming and getting her children involved. Her time is flexible and it sounds like shes a real go-getter when it comes to keeping busy and productive. That isnt shade! I can relate to that.

| Enquirer: Jennifer Garner is dating a lawyer, she introduced him to her family | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

Last month, Jennifer Garner was seen out with a ?mystery man.? You can see the photos here, on The Daily Mail. The man had his arm around her but it didn’t look romantic and was more like a side hug as they walked. According to the National Enquirer, Garner has been seeing a lawyer and it’s so serious that she’s introduced him to her family in West Virginia. She allegedly did this over the holidays, which means she’s been with him for a while. There’s no mention in the article if it’s the same guy from the photos or if he’s met her kids.
Jennifer Garner? introduced her new lawyer beau to family members during a New Year?s weekend in Montana?
?They stayed at a private residence in Yellowstone Club,? dished the source.
?Jen and Ben arrived with the children. Ben celebrated Christmas with the kids but left to spend New Year?s with Lindsay. Jen?s boyfriend and her family arrived after Ben left?
?In October, Jen?s sisters wanted to set her up on a blind date with a doctor, but she refused?
?Everyone thought it was because Jen wanted to stay single. But it?s now looking more likely that she?d already found someone new!?
[From The National Enquirer, print edition, March 26, 2018]
It’s possible that The Enquirer found the identity of the guy in the photos and that he’s a lawyer but that Garner is just seeing him professionally. She must need legal services for her career and of course for her divorce. I hope this is true though. It’s just a sidebar article, they’re not honing in on US Weekly?s misleading cover about Ben and Jen?s non-reunion. How great would it be if Garner has an undercover civilian boyfriend and is just waiting for the right moment to premiere him? Would that tarnish her image as devoted separated mom or would she be celebrated as finally getting hers? I’m here for it, but the details are too vague at this point. For what it’s worth, Gossip Cop debunks this and says that Garner’s rep maintains that she’s single.

| Jennifer Garner's next project is a comedy series for HBO by Lena Dunham | Added 6 years ago | Source: CeleBitchy |

|
|
|
|
Jennifer Garner is having a career resurgence. Now that she’s separated she’s stepping out of her mom role and is working on a new action film, Peppermint, by director Pierre Morel (Taken), she’s active on social media, and she steadily making other films. So on the surface it looks like a good move for her to helm an HBO comedy by Lena Dunham and her Girls co-writer, Jenni Konner. Garner got her big break on television, in Alias, and so many of her colleagues are finding success on cable and streaming networks. She should get a piece of that pie, right? You probably know where I’m going with this, but let’s read the announcement first. The series is called Camping.
The project is from writer and executive producers Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner (Girls). The description: ?Walt?s 45th birthday was supposed to be a delightful weekend back to nature, at least according to his obsessively organized and aggressively controlling wife Kathryn (Garner). But when the camping trip gathers Kathryn?s meek sister, holier than thou ex-best friend and a free-spirited Tagalong in one place, it becomes a weekend of tested marriages and woman on woman crime that won?t soon be forgotten. Plus, bears.?
Konner and Dunham called the role ?messy, tough and provocative and really really fun. We love Jennifer?s restraint and comedic timing, and we can?t wait for the warmth and intelligence she?ll bring to our central character, Kathryn. It?s truly a dream to have her first on our call sheet. Now we just have to write her some stunts.? Her character is described as ?a controlling LA mom who is far less cheerful than her Lululemons imply. Kathryn controls the proceedings with an iron grip until she?s faced with a woman who undoes all her best-laid plans.?
The eight-episode Camping is based on a British series with the same name by Julia Davis. Garner will next be seen in the coming-of-age film Love Simon opposite Josh Duhamel.
[From EW]
Some people will probably expect Garner to address criticism for working with two problematic people. Should she? Dunham and Konner didn’t directly commit crimes, they just defended a male colleague who was accused of raping a 17 year-old woman of color and they called that woman a liar. So they suck, particularly Dunham who keeps proving that, but that’s not on Garner in any way. They’re probably decent to work with, they’re both women and given everything we’ve heard about how horrible that industry is, this isn’t the worst choice for Garner. I can’t blame her for choosing this project. This will likely benefit her career, HBO keeps giving these women opportunities despite the mediocrity of their material, and it will bring Garner back to the small screen. That said, I don’t find her watchable in any way. The last film I saw her in was Dallas Buyer’s Club and she seemed quite miscast.
Garner posted this to Instagram and commenters are pointing out to her how awful Dunham is. She follows the news in her industry and she knows. All her decisions are calculated, especially major ones like this.
