Im sorry for making the title clickbaity but I couldnt figure out how to explain this in our two line format. The first thing that comes to mind when I think ?girlfriend code? is ?sleeping with your ex or current boyfriend.? In one of the segments released from her People?s Most Beautiful interview Jennifer Garner makes it a lot milder though. She says that making you feel guilty for not keeping in touch, or for hanging out with someone else, breaks the code. I feel like the code is reserved for more serious violations involving the most important people in your inner circle. The women who do the guilting thing are the ones whom you never let in, you know? Nobody has time for that and those people are easy to spot, but I get what she means.
[Jennifer Garner] knows what?s important when it comes to the girlfriends in her life.
?Sense of humor,? she tells PEOPLE in this week?s cover story. ?And a lack of guilt. I do not believe friendship should or can come with guilt. Like a friend who says, ?You haven?t called me,? or ?I saw you out with someone else.? That is not part of the deal. That breaks the girlfriend code.?
[Garner] especially appreciates her friendships with other mothers.
?Oh my gosh, I was the world?s most anxious first time mom that ever lived, and I really did it in a vacuum,? she explains. ?I didn?t have girlfriends around who were having babies at the same time. I wasn?t part of a moms? group with my first. I was so isolated that I really missed out on everything.?
Garner has a wealth of support from her tribe. ?From girlfriends modeling for me or seeing something and thinking, ?Oh, I?m going to cherry pick that from you? and ?I love the way you handled that? and ?I want that sentence in my brain? and ?I need to write that down,? she says. ?Because that?s what it is when you are parenting in a community. I mean the moms at my kids? school are the moms that I look up to and try to emulate.?
?There is nothing more important, other than your kids ? no man, no relationship, no anything ? than your girlfriends,? Garner says. ?You find your tribe, you take care of them, you treat them with the love and respect they deserve, insist on the same back for yourself.?
?If something goes wrong, if you can let it go, let it go. If they?re not serving you, let that friendship go,? she adds. ?See if you grow together, [or] if you grow apart, but your girlfriends are the key to life.?

Again that?s just an annoyance from an acquaintance, not a code violation. I would put that on the level of being flaky as hell. Like you consider someone as a friend candidate but they?re not reliable so you don?t bother. That said, I bet she has someone specific in mind and I wonder what happened there. Will that person know and be like ?that?s cold??
Garner was also on Ellen this week. She said she ?didn?t even know? that People was going to choose her Most Beautiful, that she was ?really honored and flattered? and that it was ?so nice of People to think outside the box.? Remember when she called out People for running a cover of her without her permission? She also said, of the quote on the title that she?s grateful every day, that gratitude is an important quality to have, especially to model to your children. I thought that was nice actually, I did! I need to remember that more.

Jennifer Garner has worked as Neutrogena brand representative for years. She usually goes without makeup day-to-day and shes talked about feeling like a different person when shes fully made up for events, and wondering what kind of influence that has on her daughters. So up until now shes focused her Neutrogena promotion on skincare primarily sunscreen and has not done much with Neutrogenas makeup line. (Last year, in a promotional interview, she said I feel like makeup ages you and said that she only wears a little concealer, a little blush and maybe some lipstick if she remembers.) Jennifer also has ads for Neutrogenas Rapid Repair wrinkle cream and retinol oil. The ad I saw focuses on her lifestyle and includes a clip of her baking cookies and collecting eggs from her chickens. So this is just a promotional interview shes doing for Neutrogena.
?First off, I wash my face every single night, no matter what, says Garner. I honestly wear no makeup unless there?s a reason to, but if I happen to have eye makeup on that day I?ll remove all of it.
She adds: I also hate that feeling when your skin looks sallow and you can see it in the texture. I swear by the hyaluronic acid in Neutrogena?s Hydroboost for that because it gives you a plump, bouncy, and dewy effect. And of course, sunscreen. The Ultra Sheer 100 SPF goes on well under makeup and just makes everything look better.
But SPF and hyaluronic acid isnt all Garner swears by. ?My biggest skincare struggle was definitely figuring out retinol, Garner shares. Being in my mid-40s, retinol really is the most important product for anti-aging. But I have sensitive skin, so everything people gave me kept turning my face red, itchy, and blotchy. The Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair was a lifesaver for me. It?s combined with an oil so it?s a little more gentle than other retinols and doesn?t irritate my skin.?

I use a little Retinol oil, it came with this set of three oils that I included in a skincare post. I only use it at night and I based that on a review on Amazon for those oils. Ive also used this very inexpensive retinol cream and its a nice hydrating cream. Im not sure how well retinol works to prevent or reduce wrinkles, but I havent had any redness as Garner mentioned. Marie Claire quoted a dermatologist who recommended using a less than 1% Retinol solution, using it at night as it increases sun sensitivity and finding a brand that combines it with soothing botanicals. As for this advice from Garner, she obviously gets a little Botox and fillers but its not on brand for her to admit to this, especially when shes shilling an over-the-counter product. Whatever she gets done at the dermatologist is surely doing more for her than creams and oils though.

A couple of days ago, when we covered the story about Jennifer Garners April Fools Day prank, some of you speculated in the comments that she have be broken up with her boyfriend, restaurant technology innovator John Miller, at some point. We havent seen them out together in ages and she gets photographed basically every day. Well US Magazine had a story leading up to the weekend which I missed because it was just a little update they buried. A source tells them that Jennifer and John are doing great, thanks for asking, and that she loves that hes a simple guy who is not in the entertainment industry. US also repeated a source quote from back in January that they wouldnt be surprised if these two got engaged by the summer.
Jennifer Garner is more than happy to keep her romance with beau John Miller out of the spotlight ? and she doesn?t mind that his career draws less attention than hers.
?They?re doing great,? a source exclusively reveals of the private pair in the new issue of Us Weekly. ?[Jennifer] loves that he?s not in the entertainment industry and is just a simple guy.?
?No one would be surprised if they got engaged by summer. John has discussed marrying Jen,? a second insider exclusively told Us in January, noting that the Peppermint star ?admires John because he is just normal.?
Garner?s three kids with Affleck ? Violet, 13, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 7 ? also approve of their mom?s boyfriend, who she is ?very much in love? with, added the second source.

So just in case you were wondering, since Ben Affleck has been seen out so often with Lindsay Shookus, Jennifer is doing fine with her boyfriend. I get the impression she would rather show this with a photo op but that hes not keen on doing that. Meanwhile there was a rumor that Ben Afflecks girlfriend, Lindsay Shookus, is pregnant. I wouldnt have heard about it except for Gossip Cop debunking it. Apparently an outlet saw Lindsays Bed Bath and Beyond bag, where she was shopping for pillows over the weekend with John, and because it said Buy Buy Baby they thought it was from a baby store. Theres a Buy Buy Baby store inside the Bed Bath and Beyond but its just a combo bag for both stores. Lindsay isnt pregnant according to the source who spoke to Gossip Cop. For all you can say about Ben, and theres plenty because his last girlfriend we know about was a 22 year-old Playboy model, hes dating a woman around his age and I doubt either of them are clamoring for more kids. Same with Jennifer Garner.

Yesterday, on April Fools Day, Jennifer Garner announced that she has a memoir out called Bless Your Heart. The fact that it has such a jokey name and that she announced it April first made a lot of people assume it was a prank and not real. In a video accompanying the book she says its a real labor of love and I go places that I never thought that I would. I just want to thank everyone who was part of helping me write and create this book. She did update the post with the news that it was an April Fools joke, which was given away by the fact that the top of the fake book cover said Foreward by therapist.

Jennifer Garner has a new interview With People magazine to promote her Neutrogena partnership. Its one of those standard beauty interviews, but she is so not into makeup and getting her hair done. She often goes out in her day-to-day life without makeup and with wet hair looking like shes busy and cant be bothered. Thats completely her prerogative and I get the impression that she would never wear makeup if she didnt have to do it for her job. In her People magazine she says that her kids must find it confusing to see her everyday without makeup and then to see her made up with her hair done. It sounds like she doesnt feel like herself when she wears makeup and has her hair hone.
?I think it?s probably extra complicated when you literally were nursed in the makeup chair as an infant, and have grown up sitting in your mom?s lap while she got her makeup done your whole life,? the actress and Neutrogena brand ambassador tells PEOPLE.
?My kids know two versions of me: They know the version that I see in the mirror right now that looks crazy, and it?s what they see 90 percent of the time,? Garner reveals of son Samuel Garner, 7, plus daughters Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 10, and Violet Anne, 13.
?Other times, they see a version of me that I never saw with my mom or anything, where I?m done up, my hair?s done, my makeup is done, so I wonder what that puts in [Violet?s] mind,? she shares. ?Not to put words in her mouth, but I do wonder what it does to an adolescent brain.?
Garner hopes that her three children ?see that I?m the happiest and most comfortable when I just look like myself,?
?I think whatever version of growing up they need to do around that, if they can come back to this in the end, we?re good to go,? Garner explains of the example she strives to set.

Shes not telling anyone else that they shouldnt wear makeup or that theyre not themselves without makeup, but as a regular makeup-wearer this is foreign to me. I wear makeup every day and I love it. At first I thought she was saying that her kids can get confused to see her with makeup. I realized she means her daughter is at an age where shes being influenced by the media and that she doesnt want to set that example, that youre not enough without makeup. Again, as someone who likes to wear makeup you can teach your children that its a personal choice. Shes so vague about it that its hard to know what shes saying though. At least shes a spokesperson for Neutrogena and not Maybelline or Revlon. I have to get a little snarky for a minute. Kids notice Botox and fillers too.

Some stories bring up gossip memories from years ago. This reminds me of the time that Jennifer Love Hewitt publicly pressured Jamie Kennedy to propose to her. That was almost 10 years ago and Kaiser wrote it, but I remember because it was so cringey. Hewitt went on to marry another guy, they had two kids and seem really happy together. I just spent a paragraph talking about Jennifer Love Hewitt in a story about Jennifer Garner.
My rambling point is that John Miller could be Jennifer Garners for-keeps guy, he keeps a low enough profile its hard to tell, but that its lame to use sources to say hell probably propose, even if theyve talked about it. This is not a smart move, especially when theyve been together less than a year. Play hard to get girl, stay busy! Before you tell me that US may be making sh-t up, theyve been Garners outlet of choice for years and they had the first story about this new relationship. This is straight from Garner.

In the video on USs site they add the quote that Garner and Miller have been spending quality time at Jens house before she puts the kids to bed. However the kids still know him as mommys friend. They havent even kissed in front of the kids.
I bet Garner told US this hoping shed get another cover, but it didnt happen for her. This is dangerous. Does she talk to Miller before these stories get leaked and let him in on the game or does she just deny culpability?

I always forget how jam-packed Golden Globes weekend is with tons of back-to-back events, fundraisers and red carpets. Sean Penn does his annual fundraiser for his Haiti charity. The BAFTAs host a tea party in the middle of the day (so celebrities can stop by on their way to evening parties). And the annual Art Of Elysium happens the night before the Globes. This year?s Art of Elysium gala was ?Michael Mullers HEAVEN,? which was sponsored by Dundas, the clothing line. Most women wore Dundas. I actually don?t have the ID on Jennifer Garner?s dress it doesn?t look like a Dundas gown to me, but Garner has the ability to make even high-end pieces look? not high end. It honestly looks like she just recycled a Christmas bow by attaching it to a simple black dress. That totally sounds like something she would do. Also: her boyfriend wasn?t there, just FYI.

I barely recognized Jennifer Garner in the thumbnails of her appearance at the American Ballet Theatre?s Annual Holiday Benefit in Beverly Hills last night. I think its because she lightened her hair a little with honey highlights. Shes also gone lighter with her makeup. She looks so pretty! Her dress is kind of nondescript, but its perfect for the event and her styling stands out. Weve learned through Garners posts on Instagram that she studied ballet as a child and is a fan. Shes surely thrilled to support the cause.
Garner also posted a video to Instagram (thats below) where shes in a nutcracker costume helping the dancers get ready for their performance. Shes acting goofy and out of place, as is her schtick, but its nice to see the dancers. I have only seen the Nutcracker once, when I was very little and found it boring. I wouldnt mind seeing it again actually.
Last week there were photos of Garner and her boyfriend, restaurant technology CEO John Miller, heading to breakfast. They didnt seem to be photographed together, and E! quoted a source who previously said that they want to keep the relationship private and for themselves and that Jen is keeping things under wraps by going away with him and seeing him in private places. OK thanks for letting us know.

Are you ready for more sourced quotes about Jennifer Garners new relationship? Can you sense her grip on the narrative and how hard shes trying to come off nonchalantly? There was the rollout, the conflicting reports that they were serious or casual and the low key outing where they were careful not to be photographed together. Now comes the follow-up to the outing. People Magazine reports that she doesnt call him her boyfriend yet and that shes putting her kids first, ok? This is what we heard during her years long drawn out divorce and I do think it was both smart PR wise and beneficial for her kids. She wasnt fighting with Ben despite what a drunken gaslighting ass he must have been behind the scenes. (In case you question that assessment, theres a lot of evidence for it.) The article goes on to say that Miller recently finalized his own divorce, but is that really true? Remember how we heard months ahead of the Garner-Affleck divorce being signed off on that it was finalized? I dont think their definition of finalized means legally so. Garner deserves happiness and a positive relationship if thats what she wants, but its still funny to see it play out so predictably. At least these quotes are limited to People and there arent variations of them on E!, ET Online and US Magazine. Thats progress.
Meanwhile Garner has landed a guest spot on Ina Gartens Thanksgiving cooking special. Theyre going to air one of the pretend cooking shows she did on Instagram. Her big action role was DOA, her new HBO show probably wont get a second season, but Garner is a hustler, she puts herself out there and she works hard on her PR. She does deserve credit for that. Plus she does good charity work.
